The service person showed up and immediately began saying he couldn't get to the faucet, it was set into the wall too deeply. He thought maybe he could pull it through the wall on the inside, which was neither accessible nor reasonable. He would have to tear up the siding to do that. Then he said maybe he could just take it apart, but it might turn out worse than it was. It seemed he was incapable, but perhaps he can do small jobs without any challenges. But he didn't want to do this job, that was obvious. And I was no longer comfortable putting this job in his hands. We thanked him and told him if it couldn't be done, it couldn't be done. We will find someone through neighbors that is up to the job.

Installation technicians were difficult to communicate with due to language issues but all seemed to be working well and system was installed in record time. Soon after (same day), noticed that unit was not cooling and called for service. One of the same installation techs came back and said that coils were freezing up - must be the refrigerant pressure. He defrosted and recharged. Several days later, same issue (6/25/2014). Another tech returned and noted same issue - he also defrosted coils and recharged refrigerant. (This also was one of the hottest weeks so far this cooling season). On 6/29/2014 same issue. Tech came and spend some time inspecting. He noted that the TXV unit that balances the condenser was faulty and probably had been since installation. Nothing he could do but order a new unit and wait for installation. It's now Tuesday 7/1 and still no AC. From our perspective (we are not HVAC experts but are experts in quality control, construction, and customer service), we were sold a faulty product which should have been immediately identified and replaced. Still awaiting for response from Management. Duct cleaning, while expensive (475.00), went very well.
Description of Work: Purchased HVAC preventive maintenance program. Tech inspected system 6/1/2014 and indicated 12 year old AC required replacement for a variety of issues. We were expecting this and were prepared to purchase a new AC system. New system installed on 6/17/2014. Also had all duct work cleaned by their subcontractor

My experience with them was okay. He was fine, very friendly, again to be honest I wish he had just gone ahead and replaced the hose regardless of the fact that it was working fine. The problem was in an attachment at the end of the nozzle of the faucet and when he took it off everything was fine, but it is still an old faucet now and I wish I just would have said go ahead and replace it anyway since we paid for the replacement. It was a little frustrating that he did not just go ahead and do that because I did not have to tell him that. At the same time, like I said I was in a rush and it did not even occur to me at that time. I think the value of the big deal offer was good. I did not get that value since he did not follow through or I did not kind of push the issue.
Description of Work: McCarthy Services just did the inspection, they did not actually do the replacement because the hose was working fine. I wish that he had actually done the replacement, but I was busy and did not push him to do it and he just screwed something on and it seemed to work and so it did not seem like it needed a replacement.

The provider arrived on time. He came in and diagnosed the problem. he told me how much it would additional. He went out and got the parts. The whole visit lasted all of 30 minutes. He was very professional and courteous. I would definitely use this service again. AAA+++ service.

Horrible- do not recommend. Go with another similar company. I scheduled a service through an Angie's List Deal. I waited 4 hours and they never showed. When I called they told me they had already been here, and they argued with me for almost 20 minutes about it. Turns out they went to my neighbor's house across the street- and both houses are very clearly marked with the number. They tried to tell me that: 1. A man answered and let them in (I am not a man), 2. The person living here rents (I own), 3. Well I must not have been home (I was). I'm now trying to get my money back through Angie's List.

I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for this service and they were very helpful. They gave me a lot of good suggestions as we chit-chatted. Their work turned out pretty good. I was very impressed how the technician who came out looked at it and figured out different ways to do it. I thought he did very well. They came out to do the work very quickly after I purchased the deal. Time was not a problem at all and they were responsive after I purchased it.

They did good work, but he didn’t do half the checks that were supposed to be covered in the big deal. It was supposed to be a 20 point check but he said it wasn’t necessary, but I feel like I got less than half of the value of the deal. If he would have opened it up and showed it was clean, that would have been one thing, but he didn’t even do that. However, they were extremely prompt. They did attempted a major up-sell, but they did not push it.

It went very well with McCarthy’s. They seemed very knowledgeable and competent. The price was high. The shower valve was really important. I couldn’t tell what was wrong with it but its working great now. My interactions with them were good. Yes, everything is working out well now. Angie’s List gave $100 off the labour and I spent considerably more than that.

There was some initial confusion with my appointment time, but McCarthy immediately responded when I called and sent someone right out. The Faucet replacement went smoothly and took about 15min. When we tried it out, however, it didn't work. The technician started trouble shooting and even called a coworker with more experience on older houses. He quickly discovered that one of the 70 year-old pipes had clogged shut. Fortunately it was a small piece, and he replaced it and the internal valve, in addition to the outside faucet. The technician was friendly, professional, and straightforward the entire time. He was quick with his work and cleaned up afterwards. I would use McCarthy again for my plumbing needs.
Description of Work: I got a coupon from McCarthy to change an outdoor faucet. That was done easily enough, but during the process discovered that the pipe leading to the faucet had been plugged up. The technician from McCarthy, replaced that pipe and installed a new valve.

Contractor arrived on time. Was concerned when comment was made about additional cost if piping needed to be extended, but sufficient copper pipe length on the inside of the house allowed the new faucet to be installed fairly easily. Work was done professionally and work looks very nice.

James, the plumber, was personable, competent, and thorough. He conducted a whole-house plumbing inspection and made some recommendations of areas to keep an eye on and some that need further attention. He replaced a faulty outside faucet (reason for the visit). He was careful going in and out -- putting booties on his shoes each time to keep dirt outside. He carefully put back some things that had to be moved inside the house to get to the supply line. At my request, he also replaced the cartridge of an inside faucet that wasn't working properly. It works like a whole new faucet! We discussed replacing some toilets in the near future. I hope James is representative of the rest of the McCarthy staff, as I liked him so well that I signed up for their HVAC preventive maintenance program.

$99 for a faucet replacement and free in-home plumbing inspection. Technician comes over, looks at faucet and immediately says "It will be another $270 or so for piping." We were shocked. $99 for outdoor faucet repair seems pretty clear. He points out the small print about extra charges for piping in small print. Technician commented that his supervisors really screwed up the advertising for deal since over half of the persons on his scheduled list of calls for this service told him to leave, and a few were very angry. We'd just like our money back ASAP. I go with Angie's List to avoid this bait-and-switch nonsense.

The plumber went out to remove all of the shark bites and replace them with hammer arresters under the kitchen sink on September 10, 2013. However, when the condo association maintenance employees showed up to patch up the wall, they noticed one was left behind. The plumber mentioned that shark bite was not taken because it was not completely visible and was hidden behind another pipe. So, we scheduled for another appointment for early October 2013, but the plumber showed up late and the condo maintenance staff told the plumber he needed one or two hammer arresters to complete the work. Since the condo maintenance supervisor only had one available, and I to buy another one, then the plumber was not able to finish the work. Afterwards, my tenant moved out in May 2014. Therefore, I called the plumber again and scheduled for them to show up within the first week of June 2014. The plumber showed up late again, and was not able to perform the work because the condo maintenance employees had to the turn on the water again at 1pm that day since the tier shut down was scheduled between 9am and 12pm. So, we scheduled for the morning Thursday, June 12, 2014, and the work was finally done well and on time. I did not get a quote for the additional work that was performed, but I did get a range from one of the managers I talked to. The manager I talked to was very helpful and professional, and even offered a $100 discount since each scheduled water tier shut down is charged $100 to the condo unit owner. Before they could start the work, they asked for my credit card because according to their company policy they do not begin work until they receive some form of payment. After they receive my credit card (CC) information, they charged the card the immediately because they are not suppose to save the CC information on their records for security purposes. After the work was complete, I called them and asked how much they charged and asked for a copy of an invoice. They said the invoice would be provided to me within one to two weeks. The total bill amount for the additional work was a little above the range they gave me, but it did include the $100 discount. In the end, they are all nice people to work with, they just need the dispatchers to communicate better with the plumbers/technical representatives out on the "field" or vice versa, so they can show up on time and be prepared for the job he/she is going to be paid to do.
Description of Work: Removed all shark bites except for one and replaced them with hammer arresters under the kitchen sink. Another plumber went back on another day to remove one more shark bite and replace it with hammer arresters as well.

He was excellent in all aspect. He was very quiet and calm. He was knowledgeable and clean. It was a good experience.
Description of Work: What we had done was not what the deal was about so he charged the rate that they would charge for that work and then subtract it off the cost of the big deal. He replaced the hose faucet outside. The work they have to do was different from what the big deal was. The deal was expecting to come out and stand outside and screw off one post then screw on another. There are some working valve, some work inside as well.

I purchased this coupon and schedule a visit for Friday June 13 from 8a-12p. I asked Crystal the woman who made the appointment to ask the technician to call me when he was 15 minutes to reach to the condo I live 2 blocks down the street. At 12P I called and told her what happened nobody showed up she said the tech was running late, which i told her I should have receive a phone call.. I re schedule it for today SAT jun 14. from 10A-2P same thing stayed at home at 138P I received a called I quickly reply to the called nobody answered and went to the unit the concierge of the building told me the tech waited 10 minutes and left. This is totally unacceptable. This company is horrible. thank you for the refund.

Called McCarthy as soon as I purchased deal. Set up appointment for that week. He came right on the nose at noon. He explained that people don't necessarily understand that the deal is just for the outside faucet, which I fully understood and knew that my issue was much more. He worked quietly and quickly. And now I have a working hose that doesn't leak inside and out and I couldn't be happier!
