Not really sure what to make of this visit from ME Flow. The salesman showed up at my house an hour before our appointment. Of course, no one was home. When he came back at the appointed time, he took about ten minutes to do the sales pitch and write up the quote. Wow! Ten minutes total time! I guess he was ready for the long weekend and didn't want to waste it on a sales call? That's too bad, I ended up buying a complete HVAC system from another company.

We have an annual maintenance contract with them. We have never done that with any company before but we were so please with the previous work they did for us and determined that their price was very fair and comparable. We had major problems with our AC unit about 2 years ago. They came out, found the issues, leaks, and gave us a complete estimate of the work that needed to be done. They were very timely in getting parts and completing what needed to be done. Their technicians are always knowledgable and get the work done in a timely manner. We plan to continue to use them for our annual maintenance and service work.
Description of Work: Annual Maintenance for last two years Performed extensive AC and heating work on current units which we thought we were going to have to replace - again - due to poor work by a previous company.

I have a water leak in my walk-out family room. My insurance provider asked that I schedule a leak detection test with a plumber. My husband had used ME Flow in the past many many years ago and was happy with the results so I called and made an appointment. The person I spoke with was so pleasant and helpful. The day of the appointment they called to say they would be on their way shortly. They ended up being an hour plus late due to another emergency but since they called the minute they realized that would be the case I'm okay with that. That's the first time I have been called. Usually vendors just show up when they show up. So, they showed up and he pretty quickly determined that the cause of my water leak was ground seepage but he still went through the house to double check and pointed out areas that could potentially become problems as well as give me suggestions to prevent problems. He was so helpful and honest. When he gave me the bill it was only for the time beyond a free consultation. I believe it was only the service call fee. I was so very impressed by the entire experience

Overall, ME Flow responded same day I placed the call! The servicemen took their time as far as checking everything the humidifier is involved with. Once they found the problem, they explained what we can do in the future to prevent it from happening again. They were a professional team.
Description of Work: My husband and I noticed our Aprilaire whole house humidifier wasn't working. The saddle valve was apparently clogged. They also made sure all the wiring and on\off switch was working properly and replaced the feed tube and the water filter panel.

We called, they came the same day, fixed the problem no worries.
Description of Work: We had pin hole leaks repairs in again in our copper piping. This time replacing some of the more problematic pipe sections with CPVC piping. The only issue was the water tasted like the pipe glue when the tap was first opened. Letting the water run made the taste go away - the problem lasted for about a week.

The installers were tidy and there was no residue left when the job was completed. The day after the install, however, we noticed two items requiring followup: the thermostat backplate was installed backward and we had two drywall cracks in the ceiling in close proximity to the platform where the work was being done overhead. ME Flow responded quickly regarding the thermostat (7/31/12) but claimed that the cracks were not a result of their work. I called again and complained about the cracks and had another person come out. The response was the same. I went up in the attic pulled the insulation away (something they should have done the first time we called) and found water damage in the ceiling right next to the platform where the unit is installed, apparently from the condensation pan had likely dumped into the ceiling and created the proble. ME Flow came out again, reluctantly agreed, and decided to repair just one of the two cracks (8/21/12). C - in professionalism In Nov, when we switched from cooling to heating, we immediately noticed a very loud buzzing noise when the upstairs unit was on. ME Flow came out (11/29/12) and assessed it was not their unit that was causing the problem but it was a lineset problem. I requested a followup appt to have the lineset repaired. Finally, 2/5/13 (~3 months after the initial complaint), ME Flow sent both a tech and carpenter to repair the lineset. C - in responsiveness In the end, ME Flow was able to find the problem - the homebuilder HVAC contractor (in 1997) had fastened the lineset in multiple places and due to the higher pressure from the new refridgerant the lineset was vibrating against the wall and ductwork - and repair it with minimum drwall work. Even though the problem did not originate from ME Flow work, this repair was done for free. For this, I ultimately gave them an overall B grade ME provides quality work but, at least in my case, it was not a simple in and out installation. If followup is required, expect it to take a lot your time to resolve.
Description of Work: We selected ME Flow to replace the heat pump in our single family house. ME Flow provided a competitive bid with an excellent warranty. We were also persuaded by their presence in the Loudoun County Best Picks Rreports, Quality Home Services Guide, 2012. ME Flow replaced both the inside and outside units but the existing lineset was deemed to be in good enough condition that a replacement was not required. The install (7/25/12) was a little complicated since the inside unit was the second zone in our house and it was installed on a platform in the attic accessible only through a narrow access in our closet.

M E Flow technicans have been professional, call ahead of time to let you know when they are coming, and give you an easy to understand explnation of what they are doing. I am very happy with their service and recommend them to others.
Description of Work: My heat pump was not working properly. The M E Flow technician identified a control board that had to be replaced, and he put it on order. I have had an manual contract (perform spring-time checks prior to air conditioning season and fall-time for heating) with M E Flow customer for the last few years. Last fall they identified a short in the electircal circuitry that prevented my HVAC from starting. [This HVAC system has been installed several years ago by another vendor/installer. ]

The technician arrived on time and was professional throughout. My one complaint is that I was charged $119 to cut open the drywall to access the pipe, which took all of 3 minutes. I had already cut a hole in the drywall to identify the problem and catch the drip. Seems exorbitant for a 3 minute task, which I started and could have easily done myself. I left a voicemail to discuss the issue but received no follow up call. The work was done well...just this pricing issue was a pain point.

M.E. Flow installed a new tankless water heater in my house on Christmas Eve. On the Saturday before Christmas, I discovered that my 75 gallon hot water heater was not heating. M.E. Flow came out to my hours at around 1100 on that same day and discovered that the gas ignition was failing. He spent about an hour working on it and was able to get it working. But I decided to get the water heater replaced since it was over 14 years old. I called up the office early Monday morning (Christmas Eve) to see if they could install a new one that day. They said they could and that they would be here by 1000. They arrived at 0945 and started to rip out old water heater. I decided to replace it with a tank-less water heater (Navien NR-240A). They had to make special arrangements with their wholesaler to get the water heater and the parts they needed. They were very careful removing the old (and very heavy) tank, especially up a flight of stairs with lips on each step, making it even more difficult. Installing the new unit took them about 4 hours. It involved some modifications to my existing gas piping and routing new gas piping and water piping to the unit that was mounted on a concrete wall. They cleaned up everything very well too. It was like they were not even here. All 3 technicians were courteous and professional. Doug L who led the team was especially so. He was also the same person that helped get some semblance of hot water back on Saturday. It was not particularly great having to deal with this over the long holiday weekend, but Doug and M.E. Flow made it all seem easy. This new units works great. I am very thankful that M.E. Flow was there for me and quick to help solve my problem!

The service technician was 25 minutes late for the 3 hour window that I was quoted. When ME Flow was last at the property the previous technician told me that my condensate pump needed to be replaced but he told me that it could wait until the Fall servicing. He told me that way I could purchase the pump myself (and he told me the specs I needed) and would save about $250 over buying the pump from them. He told me to just have the condensate pump ready for when he returned for the Fall servicing he would install it at no charge at that time. I had a different service technician today and he first said he didn't have time today to install it, and then said that the other technician should not have told me it would be a no cost installation as part of the Fall servicing. When I agreed to pay the installation fee, he said that he would install the pump today. I will give ME Flow one more opportunity as I've used them a number of times over the years and had always had good experiences with them quickly responding to service calls, showing up when promised and providing high quality work. If there are mis-steps on their next visit, though, I will be taking my business elsewhere.

Sean was prompt and courteous, asking permission and providing a quote before cutting away a small section of drywall. Sean had me run several faucets upstairs and flush toilets to determine if there were any leaks and he quickly assessed there were no leaks and this was not a sewage issue. He discovered a hairline foundation crack that had seeped over time and recommended a basement waterproofing company be called.
Description of Work: After discovering drywall, baseboard, and carpet staining in a finished basement room used for storage, researched a plumber on Angie's List and Loudoun County consumer rating magazine. Since staining was near the sewage overflow access, I assumed a sewage issue.

Excellent. I thought it was a cracked drin line and was relieved when I foun dout that it was just a poor grade. I also appreciate the options that the plumber gave me for both a short term and long term fix.
Description of Work: Inspected a clogged drain line by using a TV camera. Identified the problem of repated clogging was caused by an improperly picted drain. Provided recommendations on how to fix and reset a toilet seal. Very professional and I will be using them again when I have more plumbing work don ein the future. I liked the fatc that they gave me an estimated price range for the work before they showed up so I knew what to expect.

When AC died during the first heat wave of the year, this company was one of the list that I contacted about replacing my 23 year old unit. It turned out to make economic sense to replace the furnace as well to reap efficiency and comfort benefits, and I received three quotes-- including one from a vendor working with Costco and offering a special discounted price. While ME Flow's (MEF) price was not the lowest, the quality of the HVAC products they were offering (American Standard or Trane-- stablemates owned by the same corporation) was higher than that of the other two vendors, both according to MEF and as borne out by my on-line research. MEF was willing to work with me on price by proposing various combinations of hardware and warranty coverage to meet my price point. Their representative was very helpful in terms of providing information and options. We communicated largely via email, and he was always prompt at answering even though we were experiencing a heat wave and the company was very busy. (Some of his emails were sent at midnight!) Once I selected a system, the MEF crew arrived on schedule to perform the installation. The work required 2 days to complete, and was done on schedule and competently (the employee from my city who conducted the mandatory gas inspection commented on the fit and finish of their work). The work crew answered all of my questions, company headquarters telephoned the following week to ask if I was satisfied, and the manufacturer sent a survey asking me to rate the company. I like this opportunity to provide feedback! The work included a one year maintenance contract and I have been satisfied with the technician who showed up to perform the first semi-annual inspection. All in all, I felt MEF offered reasonable value for money, and I plan to use the company for required inspections and maintenance on my HVAC system as needed.
Description of Work: Company replaced single stage gas furnace with a two stage variable speed model, and replaced an old SEER 8 air conditioner with a two stage SEER 16 unit. Company also installed a programmable thermostat and a whole house air filter. This HVAC system included extended 12 year warranty coverage, and the company threw a year of semi-annual inspections into the deal. (NB-- I learned these service agreements are needed to keep HVAC warranties valid, unless the homeowner has some other way of documenting what the manufacturer says is mandatory maintenance work. If you can't prove you had this work done and the system fails during the warranty period, you may have a tough case proving to the manufacturer that the system wasn't neglected.)

We had bids from several companies, and chose ME Flow because they took the time to answer our questions and worked with us to find the right solution including right sizing the appliances. Since then we have had 2 checkups. In all 3 visits, they call beforehand to announce their arrival (so far, always on time), take care to leave the area they've been working in clean, and take the time to answer questions during the visit. On the first checkup, when they found the AC install wasn't quite right, they moved other appointments to resolve it immediately. I also appreciate the company calling me to schedule the maintenance (both visits were part of the original contract) and following up with me afterwards for feedback.

I had a leak on my AC coil and the basement was flooded. I have scheduled repair service with ME flow and they indicate there is charge of $95 for showing up which I agreed to pay. The technician came on time be couldn't find a leak, He pretty much borrowed my shop vac and flash light the sucked the rust from the coil box and said there he removed the block and leak will stop. He didn't care to diagnose to locate the source of the leak. Charged around 350+ in total for the nothing, The Ac started to leak again after a day.

M.E. Flow came in with a reasonable quote of between $900 and $1,100 and showed up on time. They sent two guys to hand dig in the area of the leak. The workers started digging what appeared to be a hole about 5 ft. x 5 ft., which did not fully encompass the saturated area, but was a decent size. As they dug deeper the hole got smaller and by the time they reached pipe level the hole only about 2 ft. x 2 ft. They used a post hole digger from the top of the hole and seemed unwilling to dig while in the hole. When the leak was not in that small section they said that the leak was at least 5 feet away and that they would need to bring in a backhoe to dig an additional 5 feet back towards the house. This would cost us another $800. As it was only 1:30, we asked them to dig more. They got approval to dig for another hour, but spent 20 minutes of that time on a smoking break. They seemed like they just did not want to dig anymore. Then they told us they could not find the leak and needed the backhoe. One excuse they gave was that the hole was too wet and it was hard to dig. We seemed to have no choice and agreed to this. They then turned the water back on and left around 2:30. When we looked at the hole a few minutes after they left, it was clear that very little additional digging had been done, yet the water was flowing into the hole at a much greater rate. They must have known at that point that they were very close to the leak, but left anyway. When they arrived the next day with the backhoe they used it more to bail water from the hole than to actually dig. The leak was found no more than one or two feet from the wall of the hand dug hole. If the workers had just maintained the width of the hole from the top while hand digging, or kept hand digging another 15 or 20 minutes, they would have found the leak without bringing in the backhoe and could have easily honored the quote. Instead we are out an additional $800 They crawled in the hole and finally made the repair. Apparently the hole, which was subjected to a greater flow of water the entire night before, was suddenly not too wet to dig anymore. Also, they did not put the pile of dirt on a tarp and when they filled in the hole they left the surface lumpy and jumbled. There was no serious attempt to level out the dirt. When I asked about it, they said that it was too muddy to smooth out. Is there ever a water main leak hole that is not muddy? It will take a lot of work to restore the area to the point where it can be resown with grass. My wife tried to reach the person who gave us the quote (Mike I believe), but could never reach him. This was an awful experience and we will never use this company again. UPDATE: Last week (09/20/13) just over a year after M.E. Flow did the repair the place they repaired failed. Now after working all year to get our lawn looking normal, it has to be dug up again. M.E. Flow should not be allowed to do water line repair, they are incompetent at it. If I had the time I would pursue legal action against this company. The company doing the repair now is only hand digging and found the section of pipe they repaired after only 30 minutes of digging. So the excuse below about hand digging being dangerous and taking all day is BS.
Description of Work: We hired M.E. Flow to repair a leak in our main water service line near the street. The scope of work was to find the leak within the suspect area that was saturated with water (roughly an 8 ft. x 8ft. area) and repair it.

Response from M E Flow Inc
On 7-3-2012 I gave Ms. Jenkins a hand written proposal to dig their curb cock to attempt a repair on their Water Service line which was leaking. She was informed at that time that they had a Poly (plastic) water line and it needed to be replace but a repair was possible. On her hand written proposal it is stated :2-Men/hand dig to repair IF possible”. After a lengthy conversation with her, she was very well educated that the work she needed may cost more than the original estimate she was given. This was stressed to her due to the fact that we cannot see underground and she has a 30 year old plastic water service line that does need to be replaced. She was also informed that if there was excessive ground water or the depth of the line was an issue there would be more expense to repair the line. After Hand digging for a day I would not allow my men to hand dig any further as to do so would be create a dangerous situation for them. She was informed that the added cost of a mini-excavator would be needed to do the job. She at that time agreed. M.E.Flow charged her a very minimal amount to do the additional work needed to accomplish the repair in a safe OSHA approved manner. The amount she was charged for the machine will cover our cost and nothing more. We do understand that the majority of home owners do not understand the actual work or danger involved in these situations, therefore we do to added lengths to educate our to the best of our ability. The Owner of this home was given my card and phone numbers. I did not receive a call from them at any point or time. I assure you that M.E.Flow is nothing less than an integrity run business and shall continue to be just that. Mike Hays Plumbing Manager

The AC in our rental property failed after a week stretch of 100+ degree days. Called ME Flow on Monday and they were obviously very busy. They were upfront in that they could not commit to a time, but said they would be there same day. They were there around 3. The technician, David, was very informative and talked me through all the actions he was taking including being sure to explain what he wanted to do BEFORE he did the work. The price seemed reasonable, but equally important was their promptness and professionalism.
Description of Work: AC was not pumping cool air. Replaced capaciter (sp?), drained and replaced refrigerant, cleaned coils and replaced compressor contactor.

Since the second floor heat pump system heats and cools our sleeping and bathing areas, it is important to our comfort and I was concerned since it was completely dead and I couldn't get it going again. Harlan came out the early next day and spent some time in the attic investigating the problem. There were multiple failures, the biggest being a broken and shorted-out auxiliary heat coil. Although the cost to repair was expensive it was much less than a new system so I authorized. Harlan discussed the cost to repair vs. replace in a very friendly manner. Anyway, it took a couple days and two trips to get all the new parts installed, but the effort was well worth the time and money. Harlan did a great job. The unit is working better than ever, and maintains an even temperature, both heat and cooling. It is noticeably quieter as well. No problems in 3 months since. In summary, they are not cheap, but their service is excellent and effective and I would definitely use them again.
Description of Work: Heat pump failed completely. Service calls to diagnose and repair a second story heat pump.

M E Flow performed an A/C inspection at our condo. They arrived on time, completed the inspection in a professional manner and charged the same price that they quoted over the phone. I plan to use them again next year.

They do wonderful. The people are pleasant to talk to. They're really on the ball. I rely on them. I don't go to anyone else. I give them A's across the board.

I think that they are a bunch of crooks. We had a problem with our system afterwards so we got somebody else to look at it. They said that the company had sabotaged it. I would tell other not to use them. I will also never use them again.
Description of Work: They did a repair and maintenance.

They were recommended by the company. It was a terrible experience. They did not fix anything, and they charged me roughly triple the internet price for a replacement filter to go in the unit. They seemed confident, except that they couldn’t find anything wrong. I would not recommend them others.
Description of Work: I used M. E. Flow Inc. to service an Aprilaire electronic air cleaner.
