This Phase Two effort of cleaning out clutter and organizing a large home, went just as well as Phase One, which took care of the entire main level of the home. This effort , in a large finished basement, was conducted over three days, and resulted in a truly amazing degree of clean-out of home areas with much accumulation over many years. I know I can rely on Jackie to be a never-tiring bundle of highly competent and focused energy and effectiveness!! From the second she arrived at the house until the time she departed each day, she remained in proactive movement, to tackle each room, one-by-one, in a rapid and very organized fashion. She has great methods which include putting all things in their place, and streamlining how things are placed in each room. This job involved a lot of throwing out of accumulated items no longer needed, including a lot of items that had been brought in from an aging relative's home. Jackie is really amazing in her effectiveness, and her no-nonsense but collaborative manner in getting things done. I have learned I can fully rely on her methods to sort out a huge amount of items in very rapid fashion. Jackie is a true motivator. What had seemed for far too long to be a daunting challenge I didn't want to tackle was just another project for Jackie, who proved through her efforts that she was not only up to the challenge, but takes great delight in the achievements we gained together. Now, I have everything fully organized in two levels of my home. Jackie, The Organizer, proved to be just what I needed to overcome my dread to tackle so much clutter and "stuff." I know I can call on Jackie anytime in the future, with no job too difficult or challenge too great for this wonderful resource.

I called Jackie after reading other reports on Angie's list, and I'm glad I did. This project entailed two sessions of three hours each, over a period of two weeks. I'd tried different methods of organizing my personal and work documents in the past, but none of them worked over time. I recently designated part of one room as a home office, and Jackie suggested a great layout for the desk, file cabinet and other furniture. She asked questions about how I managed my paperwork and came up with a paper "flow" and filing system that works for me--it's really easy and efficient! I can find documents quickly and everything is located in one area. Jackie has great organization ideas and listens as you describe what you want to accomplish. She wastes no time in getting to work and the result is real progress. Her motto seems to be "keep it simple, keep it easy". She recommends using supplies you already have if at all possible. I spent $20 on hanging file folders. She also honored the coupon offered on Angie's List. I highly recommend her and plan to call her when I tackle the garage.

Jackie Johnson has proved to be everything indicated by her other very positive reviews on Angie's List, and more. From the moment she arrived each of the three days she came to work she was a bundle of energy, never stopping. While Jackie is very easy to work with, she is also very skilled and focused on achieving great results. Jackie knows how to organize, and has proven and very effective methods to help transform/restore a home to a showplace. Working with Jackie, we removed many bags and boxes of items to be thrown out and also to be donated to charity. It is truly impressive and delightful how Jackie has worked, inspired, and led to the transformation of a cluttered Utility Room, Kitchen and Family Room to completely transformed and beautiful areas. It's really rather amazing how quickly, efficiently and unrelentingly this transformation has taken place. The fully organized and cleaned-up areas are now a source of pride and pleasure to enjoy!
Description of Work: This was Phase One of what will be a continuing project to fully clean up and organize a large home. The home had become very cluttered because of bringing in belongings of an aged relative who sold their home, and due to other accumulation over many years. This Phase of the clean and organize project primarily involved the garage, laundry room, kitchen, and family room, with some clean-up and organizing also in the living room, foyer, and library. The work involved clearing out many bags and boxes of items to be thrown away and also to go to charity. Jackie, the owner of The Organizer, first established a staging area in the garage, through which to temporarily store items to go to charity, and to in time be located to other places in the home. She then proceeded, with my continuing assistance, to go through all items in the Laundry Room, and then the Kitchen, and then the Family room, with some attention also to the foyer, living room and library. Jackie didn't just work right along with me supporting her to clear out items to be thrown away or to go to charity, she also logically organized closets, cabinets and overall areas, minimizing clutter and enhancing visual appeal. She also freshly cleaned the floors and cabinets and counter/table tops. I'm greatly looking forward to the next Phases of this home project, when Jackie will return to complete tackling the living room, library, and rest of the main floor, and then proceed to the large finished basement, and all of the areas on the top floor of the home!!

I was running out of time to prepare for a move, feeling overwhelmed by mess and clutter, and I knew I needed help. Jackie was a godsend. She got right to work, and kept me focused on one area at a time, one room at a time. I also appreciate that she did not question what I chose to keep or toss, and was encouraging about the progress we were making. There is no way I could have gotten so much packed, in such an organized way, on my own. She has a lot of experience and obviously enjoys her job. Jackie will also help me get organized in my new house so I can start out on the right track. She is an excellent organizer and I would recommend her to anyone. If you need help before a move or after a move, Jackie would be a great resource. (As a bonus, you will get a good cardio workout.)

I am very pleased with the results of my day with Jackie. We talked for about 20 minutes or so about what needed to be done and then got right to it. She has great ideas on how to rearrange your space using what you have without the need to go out and buy a lot of storage items. At the end of five hours, my art studio was organized and I was motivated and inspired to create art.

I had let my personal filing get out of control for over a year. It was so daunting, I could not get up the energy to start it, much less finish it. Jackie came right on time, after calling the day before to confirm the appointment. She immediately got to work and was all business. She has great energy. In under 3 hours, working together, we got it all filed or thrown out. I was running out of steam three quarters of the way through, but she kept pushing me to finish. Now it's all filed in tidy files that I can maintain on a weekly basis. Most important, I have that huge part of my brain that the incomplete task was occupying back!
Description of Work: Jackie helped me get a year's worth of household paperwork sorted, thrown out or filed. She then gave me advice on how to arrange two separate home offices for better work flow. She will be returning to help me rearrange them once I assemble a new piece of furniture.

There was no psychobabble,judgment or guilt-inducing exercises.Jackie explained the plan and got down to it in a very focused way without being a drill sergeant It was actually fun . Jackie left me with a very manageable "homework" project and also helped by telling me to focus my energies on it and not worry about other areas of the house for now. I am disappointed that a vacation will mean we can't meet again for a month.This is some of the best money I have spent in a long time..
Description of Work: After a brief introduction,tour and pep talk, we got down to business by looking at each room's purpose and putting things together into categories. Furniture was moved around quite a bit and removed in some cases,trash cans and recycle bins were filled, boxes prepared with items to donate and in 3 1/2 hrs, I felt like I'd had a mini home makeover. My living room looks like a grown up lives here (and not my dogs' room that I share).and I can breathe. Actually enjoy coming in to the door now. My cleaning woman may hate it bec now she can really get into areas to clean where she couldn't before .:-)

My husband called her as a Christmas gift to me. They scheduled the visit for 5 days later, when I was available. She arrived on time, calling on the way for clarification of directions. We went straight to work. She listened as I told her what uses I have for the room and she quickly developed a plan for rearranging. I have a lot of scrapbooking supplies and tools, and other things had made their way to the room as well. We cleared out everything from the room, putting aside things that would not go back in, whether they were to throw away, given away to charity, or moved to other parts of the house. We moved furniture, discussing organization and traffic patterns so that I was comfortable with the end result and could maintain the organized method long after she was gone. I feel so much better and can get right to work with projects with little time spent looking for stuff. She took things that are for donation to worthwhile charities that would put the items to good use, not just sell them. I was excited to contribute, as well as clear out much needed space.

In three hours, we were able to completely organize the whole basement - all of the kids toys, games, closets, video games, and art supplies. Jackie came up with a layout for the basement that is much more usable and attractive. We identified all the items that could be donated or recycled. We even went through drawers of pictures that hadn't been touched in years! I couldn't believe how much we got done in 3 hours. I'm very pleased.

She came over for an initial appointment and we worked for 2-3 hours, making order out of chaos in 2 rooms. She is very matter-of-fact, pleasant, and energetic. Seems to get genuine pleasure in helping people "straighten up" their lives. Reasonable rates ($45/hour) and willing to do any part of the process to keep the momentum and the project moving forward. In the following appointments (3 additional appointments), we worked at reducing the size of the sorted piles to those documents which were needed or wanted so they would fit in two drawers of file space, created files and filed lots of stuff. Also reduced the volume of documents currently filed to make room for the newer documents. Suggested relatively painless projects for storing and organizing old pictures; organizing old family recipes; etc. I will use her again.
Description of Work: Created a filing system for papers that have been accumulating for several years, and sorted papers with me. Suggested ways to store (or discard) keepsakes. Created file labels and files; helped sort, file and shred documents. Suggested two tiered storage for older documents that should be retained and more current documents.

We're happy. This is the second time we used Jackie, but our first report. She has been easy to communicate with by email and phone. She was flexible when I asked for a date change with little notice. She arrived on time, with materials, ready to work. She has strong opinions, but she was flexible when we rejected some ideas and asked for a different plan. Our house is working much better.
Description of Work: We have a big McMansion with lots of clutter accumulated over 10 years. Jackie did a walk-through of the whole house. She helped us decide to initially focus on my daughters room. She gave both high-level strategic advice on getting and staying organized and advice on throwing out and recycling specific items. On a second appointment, she helped re-organize our basement family room. This included her doing some pretty heavy lifting with furniture.

We move a lot, so I had several years' worth of my son's toys, books, and clothing that I needed to sort through and organize. Jackie helped me sort through everything and identify items that my son had outgrown. She also organized his playroom into "zones", so that items with a similar function were put together. I had one of those rooms in my home that I had tried for four years to clean out. Finally I decided I needed some help. I called Jackie on a Monday and she was there the next day. She went right to work helping me empty the room and sort the items. Within two hours we had put the room back together in a way that I could finally begin to use it. Jackie made the whole process so easy. She even took some of my things to several local charities which was an added benefit for me. I cannot tell you what a burden has been lifted from my shoulders having this room back. And on top of it to enjoy the process so much was an added bonus.I echo some of the other reviewers when they said, "I should have done this years ago!". I will definitely use Jackie again.

First, within a week of the free 1-hour October walkthrough of my messy condo, Jackie picked up the 26" bike and an old, large stereo speaker from my living room and recycled them, at no charge. She came once more to cart off two boxes of books, and at that time I paid her $40 for her efforts up to then. She also knew a family for me to donate my upright piano to. A professional piano mover did the transfer, opening up more space in my living room. At our first 3-hour appointment On Jan. 2 she saw how fragmented the distribution of stuff in my bookshelves and spaces under bookcases and on the floor were and designated specific places for various categories of items. She prodded me to sort through some things and discard or consolidate on bookshelves and in a few boxes. We accomplished a lot in 3 hours, with her friendly encouragement and insistance on my staying focused on whatever was the immediate task. She left me with some "homework" tasks, and I appreciate her letting me notify her when I am ready for another session, which I expect with be within the next month. This was a successful beginning to a long-term process.
