I have nothing but good things to say about Falls Church Paving. The estimator Sam came over right away and gave us a decent price and the work was started within 2 days. The crew worked hard, the edges looked great and we were so pleased. Initially I had set something up with another company but they left me hanging. That turned out to be a good thing because I was well pleased with who I ended up working with. I've already referred them to two people so far.

It was a pleasure to work with George Small and his crew. They were reasonably priced and very helpful when resurfacing our driveway. Because of the good weather, the whole job was done in a matter of days. In addition, George gave us great advice on a paver path we were doing and steered us to the right materials, etc... Falls Church Paving also helped out a needy neighbor across the street with an erosion problem using some of the leftover driveway materials, for no charge. Very nice.

We agreed on a fixed price contract for a specific set of work to be performed. I oversaw the work in person and even have extensive video and photos. Afterward, they informed me that they used larger stones underneath the area than they had anticipated. They charged me an additional $1200 that I did not know about nor agree to beforehand. I was present for the entire time and at no time did they inform me about the stones nor ask to discuss it. To avoid litigation and sanctions, I paid them half of that. Four of my neighbors saw the work being done and asked for my referral. I will be sending them elsewhere.

They explained exactly how they were going to lay a proper base because I had a water flow issue, but when they did the actual work, they did not lay a proper base and now, it is all cracked. They never responded to my phone calls because it happened within a year. I would absolutely not use them again in the future.

These guys did a great job and I highly recommend them. I spent weeks getting quotes from several different companies to get quotes and FC Paving had the most competitive number. Honestly part of the reason they may have been more competitive is because they're actually VA-based (unlike most of the other companies that are in MD) and are family run - I actually saw some family members from the Small family on job so I know they don't have much 'overhead'. Our driveway was rather long and the concrete wasn't easy to remove with complication due to a carport over part of it - they were able to cut the concrete around the driveway and remove it without distubing the house or the carport. The only reason I gave a B (Good, not Excellent) on punctuality is because they came really late on the Monday and had to leave the driveway dug up as we were expecting rain later at night - had they come on time I think they would have just completed the driveway before the rain. Instead we ended up waiting till Friday for completeion. I don't think it's a big deal because I wasn't in a hurry and didn't want the job rushed. And they also made sure the ground was dry enough to work on before they restarted so they took the effort to do it right. Everything else was A :). All that said, I highly recommend them!

They did good, fast work at a good price.

The gentleman I spoke with stopped by pretty quick to take some measurements and said he would give me an estimate in 2-3 business days, but it has been almost a month and I have not heard back yet.

I wholeheartedly recommend Falls Church Paving and was extremely pleased with the work they did for me. My driveway was 23 years old, faded, cracked and oddly shaped (people were always running over my grass when they backed out). George Small and his son gave me a very competitive estimate, made recommendations on how to correct the problems I had (widened driveway on both sides) and power-washed my deck, porch and flagstone walkways. The work was done to my complete satisfaction (and exceeded my expectations). I am the kind of homeowner that stands by and watches every step of the work being done and I am not satisfied with anything less than a job very well done. In the case of my experience with Falls Church Paving, I'd give them six stars if I could. I will definitely keep Mr. Small in mind for any future projects I have that fit within the scope of his services. P.S. Resurfacing the driveway made a huge improvement in my house's curb appeal (like a face lift for the house) and I'm delighted that I had this work done.

They were here when they said they would be and the job was done beautifully. Our contractor that was painting the exterior of our house asked for his card, he was very impressed with the finished product. Neighbors also were impressed and had them do theirs. We highly recommend Falls Church Paving.

Once I selected Falls Church Paving as the local contractor I wanted to use, the work quickly was scheduled for the next available time slot, which was Monday morning, 23 September 2013. I wanted the work done before a large maple tree in our frontyard started dumping all its leaves on the driveway under it. The crew showed up as scheduled at 8:30 a.m. The owner, Mr. George Small, arrived shortly thereafter and we went over the job with his three-man crew. It was obvious in talking with Mr. Small and his crew that they knew their business. A Bobcat then was unloaded from it trailer, and the old driveway quickly was peeled up and deposited in a waiting dump truck. The foundation of the driveway proved to be in excellent condition and needed minimal repair and leveling. The load of asphalt arrived and was put down, rolled, and the egdes were hand-tamped. A low curb was installed along the back half of one edge of the driveway to retain the mulch around the landscaping along that egde of the driveway. The work was completed by early afternoon. I am most pleased with the results. After the leaves on trees in the area have finished falling, and before winter sets in, Falls Church Paving will return to seal coat the driveway (for an additional fee). Absolutely no problems were encountered with this project. I am please to recommend Falls Church Paving as a reliable, local, Northern Virginia paving contractor.

Our driveway was the third driveway to be redone that day. Ours was not done well and when I asked George to come back he was reluctant to return but he did. He told me everything was fine. The first two driveways he did that day are in great condition..ours is falling apart. I would never use him again.

Clearly reviewed all aspects of the job, including digging out a large area with cracks and create a better drainage. Promised to complete in one day and worked late into the night to accomplish the promise. Kept me informed of progress. The finished driveway was exactly as he had promised.

We have a very long (appx. 200 feet) and wide driveway, along with a steep slope that made this a complicated driveway to repave. We first heard about Falls Church Paving from one of our neighbors, who had has driveway repaved a few years ago. They had been very pleased, and although we talked to another company (they provided an incomplete quote), based on our neighbor's experience, we didn't shop around for a paver. George Small was always very responsive to my requests for quotes and working with us on pricing. This turned out to be a very big job for his crew, but was done in 1.5 days. They were attentive to cleaning up their debris in the cul de sac. While the pavers were on the street, one next door neighbor had his driveway repaved and repaired (it looks great), and the original neighbor who recommended Falls Church Paving had their driveway resealed. The finished product is beautiful and I am completely satisfied with our choice to use Falls Church Paving.

I urgently needed an estimate on driveway paving in order to get a loan for a teardown and new construction build in Vienna, VA. I called 16 (SIXTEEN) different paving companies in the DC metro area. Falls Church paving was quick to call me back and take all my information, and even quicker to write up a proposal and send it to me. I could not have been more impressed with their professionalism and responsiveness. Customer Service was impeccable and really stood out against the other 15 paving companies, some of which wanted $50 for an estimating fee (Pete's Asphalt and Concrete) or two to three weeks just to give an estimate (Tibbs Paving). I highy recommend calling Falls Church Paving.

I called for an estimate. They got it for me the same day. I needed the job done quickly. They did it two days later. There were no issues and no surprises. It was an excellent overall experience.

Falls Church Paving Company did a good job, I was satisfied, and the driveway isn't sinking. Their price, quality, and professionalism were excellent.

UPDATE 1/21/13: Mr. George Small, the owner, contacted me by phone and apologized profusely for the problems - apparently the employee who handles their emails was out of the country on a personal matter and never forwarded my messages to him. He promptly came and fixed the issue with the grass to my complete satisfaction. I'm keeping them at a and quot;Band quot; because of the historical issues documented below, but now I would not hesitate to recommend them to others. ***************************** My parents decided to surprise me with an early Christmas gift of having the driveway repaved at the home I purchased this summer in Falls Church. My dad had spoken with a few paving companies, one of which was Falls Church Paving. They called him up one day and said they had gotten an overage on their supplies and if we could do the driveway that day (Tuesday August 7), they would give him a great deal. I was scheduled to have guests over to my place on that Friday for a party, so my dad asked them if the driveway would be ok by then and the guy he talked to said it would be fine by the next day, so he went ahead and booked the service, and told them he would either send them a check or give them his credit card number, whichever they preferred. Well, it was a slightly different story when I got home that day: first, I was told I had to wait for a few days to be able to drive on the driveway (not a big deal, fortunately; they said Friday would be fine so I waited until then). Second, I personally had to write them a check that day as they didn't want to get it from my dad (good thing I had the money in my account!). Third, for some reason they decided to relocate my firewood holder to a spot directly in front of the gate to the backyard. They said they would come back before Friday to move it again, but never did (I had to do it myself on Thursday evening). Even with all that, I would have been happy because the new driveway looked lovely and my parents got a great deal on it. However, within about 2 months there was grass growing out of a patch in the middle of it. I sent a note via their website about it, and also asking for an estimate on the sealing they said I should do in October (it was late October at this point). I got a short reply by email saying that they would come out and look at it. I have since that time sent two follow-up emails with no response from the company. Very disappointing.

Falls Church Paving was very efficient and professional. We had them extend our driveway for our RV and boat. They were there when promised and completed on time. There work has held up great thus far, and we're happy to recommend them.

In a word: "Perfect". Mr. George Small was extraordinary, with respect all facets of the job, price, quality, and timeliness. The Falls Church Paving team even went the extra mile to ensure the driveway was installed property, and went beyond and completed additional work that was outside of the scope of the contract to make the driveway look even better. Adding to our family's satisfaction was that his price was lower than all the other qualified bids.

Our drive way had deep cracks and I don't believe had been installed correctly when it was initially laid. George from Falls Church Paving, came out to inspect the driveway and gave us an estimate. Of the three companies that came out, his was the lowest estimate. My initial instinct was to go with the company that gave the middle estimate, but George clearly wanted our business and promised to impress us. We are very impressed with the great job he did. The driveway really looks great! The work men gave us a nice small curb along our flower bed, and nice straight edges along both sides of the driveway. Their clean up was meticulous. At the end of the day, George came out to inspect the job and to address any concerns we might have.

The service was above average. They did excellent work. The price was good.

Nice job but cleanup was not good. Also, there was one small part that was not finished. Salesman said they would come back but they never did though I kept contacting him. Eventually he told me to go to Home Depot and fix the problem myself. Would not recommend.

There were the lowest bidder from a few quotes I got so I used them. The owner was clearly the guy in charge and supervised things. That impressed me at the time. But the asphalt they used was very low grade. It did not look like the smooth, blacktop like some of my neighbors had. Almost like it did not have enough tar or something. You can clearly see the edges where they used different grades. I was not happy with the look at all. Now, 4 years later, there are lots of cracks and a big pothole at the entrance. None of my neighbors have any of these problems. :( Do not be lured with a low quote from this guy. I would never recommend them.

Very bad experience. Owner very difficult to deal with.

This was an entirely disappointing experience. The gravel was put down immediately after the repairs when it should have been done the last thing. They wanted to seal that same day, which I refused because I had been told that the asphalt needed to "cure" before sealing. The owner was argumentative about the need to come back. I also told him I thought the gravel needed to be pulled away from the new asphalt so it could cure well and be properly covered by the sealant. Argumentative again, and I ended up moving the gravel myself. When they put down the sealant, they asked for full payment, and I pointed out they needed to bring alot more gravel and line the whole driveway. The owner threw a fit, saying they already did the gravelling. When told the estimate was for doing the whole driveway and that I would pay him for only the cost of the gravel originally brought if he would give me the receipt for it, he said he didn't have a receipt and didn't know what they paid for it and he expected the entire amount. I eventually mailed him a check for about half of the amount in the estimate attributed to the graveling, although I believe that was too much, especially since I had to do the labor moving it away from the asphalt and then back, and only a small portion of the driveway is now protected by gravel support. In addition, now about 5 or 6 months later, several areas that they "repaired" are also disintigrating.
