Description of Work: Betsy helped me remove an old computer system so that it could be resold (removed hard drive). Also provided assistance to be sure that my wireless network was set up properly for my laptop and printer. Ran diagnostics on my laptop as I was having some issues with it. Cleaned up programs that were not needed and saved me a ton of space of my drive. Still having the shut off problem with the laptop, but am in the process of shopping for a new laptop. Can deal with the one I have for the time being.

As she worked, she explained what she was doing, and the possible causes of our issue. I work in the Security field, and have not always found "IT" folks to be the most "warm & fuzzy" &/or communicative individuals to work with. Betsy's personalized service, and thoroughly enjoyable personality made the added convenience of "in home" service all that more valuable.
Description of Work: Betsy came to our home to resolve a longstanding, and somewhat mysterious issue with our HP PC. We had been unable to access the internet, and had spent hours with Technical Support, friends and etc. trying to understand & resolve the issue. Betsy worked diligently and patiently, and eventually discovered (of all things) an expired Anti-Spyware program had created a Firewall that was blocking internet access.

She had to use 4 different spyware detectors before she could find the dirty, stubborn virus on my computer. I never would have guessed that a virus was the cause of my computer problem, but Betsy was quick to pin point the problem. She is a quick troubleshooter, and will work tirelessly to correct your computer problem. She is crazy good!!!!!!
Description of Work: I bought an Angie's deal for $49.00 to have my computer serviced. Betsy,the provider, called promptly to schedule an appointment. At the appointment Betsy found that a virus was the cause of my problem. She worked diligently to find the site of the virus, which was no small task. After much work, Betsy found the virus and that corrected my problem.

Description of Work: My computer had been locking up. After several attempts to resolve the situation myself I contacted Sky Computer Solutions.Ms. Salomonsky listened to what I was experiencing, tried a number of disks she had with her and eventually a series of recovery disks brought the system back to its original manufacturer's starting point. This worked and my system has not given me any problems since.

Description of Work: When I first called Betsy my sons laptop was not starting up. She said that she did not work on nonworking laptops. I was able to get the laptop working by using the startup repair. So I called Betsy again. Long story short she was pleasant and on time. She was unable to detect a virus that was preventing windows from downloading an important security update. She did offer to take the laptop home at a cost of $200.00. She would back up files and take out windows and then reinstall. She also said if I backed up the files she would only charge $125.00. I just wanted the virus detected and removed. I was not willing to pay when all was said and done $250.00! In fairness to Betsey I also asked someone off angies list to help me remotely.Told him I already wasted $50.00. He said I could pay him if he was able to find and remove the virus. After 3 hours he gave up.. I went to the Windows Forum, that is where the experts are in my opinion, typed in the error code that windows gave me applied their suggestion, and the virus was detected in a few minutes. So after wasting $50.00 and 4 hours of my time, with some divine intervention I fixed it myself. I think if these computer people are charging $100 or so an hour they really should know more than me, a very simple women just trying to help her son. I also know IA very honest person that offered $150.00 to remove virus ,which included back up, and reinstall if necessary. That is $100 cheaper than Betsey. I wish I had known that I could have cancelled the coupon. I now call before I purchase I coupon.

+ -1 moreBetsy makes house calls and without a gauging fee! In a word...AWESOME. She is a true IT professional, determined to get the job done right and for an extremely fair price. She first helped me by making recommendations on a replacement dive and where I could find it for a great price on the internet and then did the work to swap it out. She ran into lots of issues in the process related to the Intel SSD drive I was replacing. Undaunted, she took it home and spent several hours researching the issue before finaly figuring it out. I paid only what I would have paid if it had gone smoothly without all the extra effort. She also took the time to help me understand the issue as much as I wanted to understand it and then gave my system a once over to make sure there wasn't anything else. She is upfront about cost and very patient with questions. Afterwards, she worked with me to troubleshoot a different perfomance issue and all without any additional charges. Sky Computer is one business card I will keep on the ready. Thanks Betsy.

+ -1 moreBetsy, from Sky Computers, was very responsive. She came to our home within 30 minutes of our call at the end of the day on a Friday. She adeptly answered our questions from the moment she arrived. Not only is she very knowledgeable, she also loves her work and it shows! We solicited her services because our computer would not start up properly. She was able to recover the lost data, including irreplaceable photos! She then backed up the data to an external hard drive we had just purchased. (Word to the wise... always backup your files!!!!) Betsy then reinstalled Windows, printer software, wireless router and other key programs. She also was kind enough to locate, order and deliver a new battery for the computer. We were back up and running by noon on Monday! She reviewed her work in detail with my husband. You can't beat her door to door service! Betsy did a great job and we highly recommend her!
Description of Work: Successfully repaired our computer, recovered and backed up data, reinstalled the operating system and software, and installed a new program, and ordered a new battery for the computer.

Description of Work: My initial objective was to figure out how to get into a computer for which I had forgotten the password. There was some urgency on my part and when I saw the "deal" I purchased it and called Sky Computers immediately. Betsy called me back within a couple of hours of my leaving a message and offered to talk me through a process to get into the computer. We then set a time for her to come to my house and provide service to 2 desktop systems and a laptop. Betsy ultimately repaired the laptop which I had believed to be a lost cause, she migrated data from an old desktop and provided me with access to files I thought might be lost and she addressed issues with the other desktop. She was great in every way, I will use her service again but most importantly she was very warm and service focused. I'm so glad that she placed an ad with Angie; otherwise, I would not have found her. Thanks.

Betsy emailed me the same day as my purchase and we established a time to talk on the phone to schedule an appointment and to discuss the work to be done. During the conversation that followed I went over the details of my project which involved working on two computers. We agreed on a date and time that was two days later for her to do the work. She arrived at the time agreed upon and she wasted no time in getting started. She worked the entire hour. I was very pleased with her work and the amount that she was able to accomplish in one hour. She is a very capable computer technician as well as being personable. I will be hiring her again to work on another project for me. Her work exceeded my expectations. My 3 year old laptop with Windows 7 is much faster now that it has been cleaned up. It had become so slow that it was not enjoyable to use it. Now it runs like a new computer. Very fast. In addition to that... I am really pleased to finally be ready to recycle the very old computer that has just been taking up space while I looked for someone who was capable of the task of copying and storing the data from an old computer that was not operational. It is great to know that I have found a capable computer technician...finally.
Description of Work: Computer disk drive clean up and updating of a 3 year old laptop that was getting slow. In addition to that...a second project of capturing and backing up the data from a very old computer that is no longer operational and is destined to be recycled.
