Their technician was professional, and arrived ahead of the schedule appointment time. He finished the work in about 45 minutes, and provided me a detailed write-up for the parts and labor. Their fee was reasonable, and I was very pleased with the work.

The System was installed by a dedicated crew a few weeks later with the same fanatical attention to quality that Jim has built his successful business on. Not a single blade of grass gets missed because the planning was so well done. Also, no pavement gets watered by misdirected spray heads. Really impressive company. Remarkable.

I found Miller Irrigation on Angie's List. Jim Miller came out to give me an estimate within just a couple days of contacting him. He strongly suggested that I consider a "companion water meter" so that I don't pay water treatment (sewage) charges for water going to my lawn. I did a little research with Chesterfield County and figured that the $480 upfront investment would pay for itself in about 6 months (look at your water bill -- you actually pay MORE for water treatment than the water itself!). I took Jim's advice and contacted the county to get this meter installed -- relatively painless. Despite a very busy installation schedule, Jim was able to get me in the week after the meter was installed. Dave and crew arrived promptly that morning and walked me through the plan in detail estimating that they could do it in one day. I got a call from Dave later that day indicating that they had run into a snag. While trenching, they hit some underground drainage tiles. He and his crew repaired and replaced these, but it pushed the job into day 2. On day 2, they accidentally hit my neighbor's underground "invisible fence". I was impressed that they knocked on the neighbors door to let them know what happened, then repaired the cut. The job wrapped up by noon and Dave walked me through the entire system with a very thorough tutorial on how to program the system. He also spend some time showing my how to drain the backflow preventer before winter (very important!). Dave indicated that he'd be glad to come out and move any of the heads that might be too close to my driveway, if need be. He even left me a couple replacement heads just in case. So far, the system works as advertised and I'm very pleased. Now I just need some grass! Overall, this was a great experience from beginning to end. Jim, Dave and Lisa (in the office) were all very helpful, cordial, and professional. I would highly recommend Miller Irrigation if you're looking to install a new system or have work done on an existing system.

My experience with Miller Irrigation and Lighting was once again superb. Check out my review for sprinkler installation.I was sick of solar lighting outside--always changing batteries,etc.When Jim came to discuss sprinkler installation, I asked about lighting as well. Explained my options that his company offered, in detail,as well as differences in costs. He offers demo at night,so that you can actually see what it will look like before you decide.We agreed that we would set up a demo time after landscaping and sprinkler installation was completed. Jim was prompt in setting up demo,and he was spot-on with placement for aesthetics and functionality!My input was minimal,as he really has an eye for this. We agreed to proceed,and I can't describe how great they look,except to sayI LOVE MY LIGHTS! They are beautifullly placed and provide such a warm,welcoming feeling when I come home from work everyday.They are set on a timer--I don't have to do anything but enjoy them.Once again, Jim provided excellent service. In my experience with this company, Jim delivers what he promises--a rare event these days. I highly recommend his services if you are even thinking about outdoor lighting. Talk with him first.

They are very prompt and comes right away once called. They do the job quickly. They did not charge me anything because it was a short time job that they did not attend to during their last time visit. They turned on the sprinkler system and had done some irrigation jobs. They are really good. They are very knowledgeable.

Jim Miller personally responded to inquiry and designed necessary adjustments and additions to current irrigation system.He was very professional and courteous, and listened to what I wanted done in my yard. He took time to see what current system would do, and instead of giving "instant" quote,he told me he would design the plan and get back to me with an accurate estimate. I received Jim's estimate in a timely manner,and we agreed on work to be done and the price. I was also having some landscaping work done and wanted a retaining wall repaired or replaced. Jim gave me some recommendations, and decided that he wanted the landscaping done before irrigation installation. When this was complete, I notified Jim's company and work was begun in a timely fashion. Throughout the entire process, either Jim or his courteous staff kept me informed of time frames and/or delays. After completion, noticed some loose stones in some sections of retaining wall that had just been completed.Jim's company worked with the landscaper to repair this promptly. Unfortunately, it did not work. Jim and Craig (landscaper) came out together and resolved that this would be corrected immediately. True to their word, retaining wall was restored to its original condition. There was no finger-pointing - just a desire to make it right for the customer. Jim also installed landscape lighting for me, which I will review in that section. When we were deciding on placement, he revealed that after landscaping completed, he had had to adjust his irrigation design and had actually put in more than originally planned. He had just done it "because it was the right thing to do." He had not stopped and given me an increased estimate- he just did the work the "way it needed to be done." He did not charge me for the additional work, nor would he accept payment for the extra work. Needless to say, I highly recommend Miller Irrigation, Inc. and Landscape Lighting. I can't remember the last time someone was punctual, acted as if they wanted the job, listened to my ideas/needs, and performed top quality work as promised! This company actually does what it says and stands behind their work. I also can't remember having anyone go above and beyond "to do the job as it should be done" because they have that old-fashioned pride in their work. Miller was great. We met with Jim Miller to discuss what we needed to have done. He was one of several proposals and sprinkler layouts we received. Another company had proposed installing a water pump which we felt would have added another component to maintain. Jim was certain that we would have sufficient water pressure without the pump if he connected to the water line at the street which is what we did. We were coordinating the installation of the irrigation system with lawn seeding and driveway paving. Miller Irrigation was helpful in scheduling their portion when we needed it. They actually left 8 heads off the system so that the paving could be completed so they could locate the heads appropriately. They spent the time with us to explain how to program and modify the system. The system works great.

we left Miller Irrigation a message, they followed up with several calls to make an appointment. they arrived on time for the appointment. we reviewed the scope of work and set a tentative date for them to perform the work. the date arrived, Miller Irrigation arrived on time, installed several additional sprinklers, cleaned the yard, then followed up several times after installation to ensure that the system was working correctly. It is, it's great, yard looks better than ever.

They're excellent. They've been very prompt and good with repairs. They stuck to the estimate and communicated well with me.

I have used the company several times now and they have been very friendly and helpful. They answer questions knowledgably and show up when they say they will. I had a horrible experience with the company that installed my irrigation system but Miller Irrigation has made maintaining it a much more pleasant experience. I have recommended them to friends considering irrigation.

The service technician who did the fall shut down of our irrigation system was excellent. He arrived promptly at 7:30am. He proceeded to efficiently, yet thoroughly, remove the water from the six zones of our irrigation system. He pointed out to me that there was a leaking pipe in one of our zones. This can be fixed in the spring. He also showed me that a large grass plant was blocking one of our sprinkler heads, which meant that the lawn wasn't getting water in one spot. This was very helpful information. The whole shut down was done in half an hour. This was wonderful for me, as I could make it to work on time. This was highly appreciated. I felt that I got very good value for my money, due to the excellent service and the Angie's List coupon that I used. The only thing I didn't like about working with Miller Irrigation was the booking of my appointment. When I initially called Miller Irrigation in mid-October to get information on their company, I was told that I could have a 7:30am week day appointment in early November. I then paid in advance for the fall irrigation shut down and spring start up based on that information. However, when I called to set my fall appointment, I was told that I couldn't get a 7:30am appointment in early November. I felt like I had been deceived, but I knew it was important to shut down the system before the ground gets too cold. So I went ahead and agreed to a mid-day appointment which meant running home from work and then going back to work. I thought about the situation and called Miller Irrigation back. I told them that I wanted either a 7:30 am appointment in early November or that I wanted to cancel my fall/spring contract. Miller Irrigation then agreed to a 7:30am appointment as they had originally promised.

Wayne came on two different days and was right on time both days. He quickly determined the problem and repaired the first valve that I had reported. When checking his work afterward, he found the other two broken valves and informed me. I had to have him come back again to fix those two. He did an excellent job both times. He had the tools he needed and knew his job well. I've had experience with other lawn irrigation firms and came away disgruntled each time. This time I found a company that appears knowledgeable, professional, and trustworthy. I will continue to use Miller in the future.

We could not be more pleased with the lawn irrigation system installed by Miller Irrigation. It is important to note that we received several estimates and Miller Irrigation was not the low bidder. But the estimate was by far the most detailed and gave us confidence that while we may be spending more , we would be getting a superior product. From beginning to end, Mr. Miller kept in close contact with us and kept us well informed about the project's progress. Both Mr. Miller and his staff are highly professional and we highly appreciate the respect that they showed to both us personally and to our property. We highly recommend Miller Irrigation.

They were great when the guy came over, but I have never gotten a price from the after 3 weeks. I called and made an appointment, and they were very nice. The guy called me on his way over here to tell me he will be about 5 minutes late. I told him that I had a conference call come up that I had to do. He said he could just look around outside, and if he needed me he would ring the door bell. He said that he would send me a quote, but I never received it.

Went very well. Miller's technician hand dug the trench for the new sprinkler line and head. He was very neat and meticulous in his work. The amount of damage to the lawn in putting in the new line and head was minimal. This work was done about a month ago and you can't even tell now that the lawn was dug up. He had to do a little detective work to figure out where the water line was that he needed to tie into because the original system put in by the builder crosses into our neighbors yard (and our neighbors sprinkler system crosses into ours). Thus, he had to carefully check the first line he dug up to be sure it wasn't the neighbors. Turned out it was the neighbors but he found the correct water line and successfully completed the job. I am planning to add some backyard sprinkler zones in 2009 or 2010 and plan to call Miller for this new work.

Miller irrigation is great. When calling to set up service, I immediately reach one of the two administrative assistants who are courteous and helpful. John was on time and very professional when he came to replace damaged sprinkler heads. His work was excellent. Jim was also on time, professional, friendly and knowledgeable about recommendations for our large and somewhat complex irrigation system.

We have used them for years and find that they do great work at a reasonable price. They really know what they are doing!

Excellent experience. They were precise in their work and after completion, you wouldn't have known that the yard had been dug up. Jim Miller was extremely knowledgeable in his craft and clearly focuses on installing quality materials. He will be a little more expensive than many of his competitors, but I've always found that you usually get what you pay for.
