Response from Gundlach Plumbing & Heating
Gundlach Plb & Htg Company was called by our customer in North Carolina for service to his rental property in Richmond. His tenant had reported a bad smell coming from the heating system. Gundlach's technician responded to the service call to find a very dangerous situation. The flue piping from the gas boiler was rusted through in several places. Removal of the smoke pipe revealed the chimney liner was collapsing and filling with mortar and debris, causing the deadly gases to back up into the basement and residence. The gas was shut off to the boiler. The boiler was "Red Tagged", unsafe to operate due to lack of proper ventilation. Our customer requested a referal for a company in Richmond to inspect the chimney and liner. The inspection was performed. The report was emailed to the customer along with numerouse pictures of the chimney condition and a proposal for the repair cost which included the necessary permits, inspections and certifications required by Richmond City Code. The customer was not charged for the inspection, pictures or the proposal. Gundlach Plumbing & Heating Company takes the responsibility of our customer's safety, health and welfare very seriously. Because of this we refer only companies that maintain the same high ethical standards, quality and accountability we do. Our customers, however, are free to make their own choice and bear the responsibility for their decisions. Respectfully, Linda Jones Stevens Officer/Co-Owner
