They canceled on me the first appointment but they did call to reschedule and I was very pleased with the service. They were knowledgeable and I found they do A/C service as well. I plan to use them Again.

Good job by plumber. Was punctual, courteous. I made the mistake not to ask for an itemized bill when I was given the estimate. I was assured that the products which they would order were all top notch. The estimate came to $1250.00 It took the plumber 90 minutes to remove the old and install the new sink. I looked at the sink and it retails for $150 and the faucet foe $127.50. In addition there is piping for about 3 feet. I will allow $100 for this. That still leaves $850 for 90 minutes of work! Truly astonishing! My discussions with their office brought nothing. They insisted that since I signed the estimate that that was the price. End of story! The plumber was able to talk to the office and they reduced the price by $250.00. That still leaves $600 for 90 minutes of labor! Ask for an itemized estimate! Very disappointed, so say the least.

I can't say enough good things about this company. Marty spent hours walking through our new home with me and helping me diagnose all sorts of odd issues I had found since the purchase of our 100-year-old home. He went way out of his way to help me identify a mysterious gas line that ran through the center of our chimney, whose access point had been cemented in 40-year earlier. He was patient in his explanations, highly knowledgeable, and the work was reasonably priced. We've worked with several contractors since the home purchase, but so far Guirkin has stolen the show from a customer-service standpoint.

I called on a Saturday afternoon, and the plumber arrived in less than an hour. He quickly figured out what was causing a leak under my kitchen sink and fixed it with no additional charge above just the minimum charge to come out ($150 on a weekend). He was very friendly and helpful. Based on this experience, I'd recommend them.

We had to reschedule a few times, but to offset this inconvenience, they didn't charge us for it. Great customer service. The fireplace has worked great since, and they discovered some problems with the original installation that they fixed and now it's actually running better than before. Definitely would give them business again.

They were great! They cleaned up the area, and enhanced the gas coming into the fireplace so that the fire was more prominent. They did exactly what they said they would do. I would recommend them.

I was satisfied with Guirken. The repair person who assessed my old logs, the installer of new logs, and the office staff were all professional, punctual, and accommodating. All of my questions were answered. The price of the new logs was comparable to a set from the same manufacturer that I had previously priced from another vender. I selected Guirken because I felt more comfortable with my experience with them.

It went fine. They did the work that was advertised. They were on time and they were professional. The workers that I came into contact with were professional.

When plumbers arrived, they immediately said a toilet replacement was needed, even before diagnosing the problem. When inquiring about resealing the current toilet, the quoted price for the sealing was essentially the same for a toilet replacement. The plumbers seemed unsure about the alternative pricing the I requested and it seemed like they priced it such that I would agree to a toilet replacement. After agreeing to a toilet replacement, they replaced the toilet, said they addressed the problem, but when I investigated before paying, I noticed the problem was not resolved. At that point the plumbers, cut out a section of the ceiling and investigated further, determining additional sealing was needed around the toilet. They addressed the sealing issue and rightly so, did not charge me for the sealing. Overall, I felt like the plumbers objective was to sell a toilet, increase the ticket price, more so than finding the most cost effective means to address the issue I hired them to fix.

I contacted Guirkin to get an estimate. They were able to come out in a couple days and actually arrived earlier than scheduled. The plumber who came looked at my situation, commented that it was going to be an expensive job. I acknowledged that I wasn't expecting it to be cheap and he said he would get back to me about a cost. That was around a month ago and I have never heard back from them. As such I had to go with someone else for the job.

Beautifully. Nice people, who know their products as well as the competition, who work with you to be sure you understand the options and what the plusses and minuses of each are. If only all companies were as competent and easy to deal with. Not the highest in price, either. A bargain, no matter how you look at it.

It took a couple of days for them to get there is my only complaint. The supply valve had been leaking for some time and I only found out about it when it was too late and the kitchen floor had to be replaced. Mr. Gurkin did stay in touch with me and was apologetic for the delay-guess it was a busy time for them. the technician was prompt and fixed the problem in no time. If needed, I would use this company again.

First employee, Phillip, did an approximate hour assessment and charged $220. I and was advised to do the repair I would have to pay a third of the cost up front. I paid. Phillip advised the total would be around $550. Ordered parts and second employee, Marty, showed up and both workers did a great job. Took about 2 hours hours and charged me an additional $550. not quite what I thought the cost was going to be in additional to original cost. Figured the price of the motor was $250, and $25 for another part. Looks like it was $150 per hour. Rated them down to a B due to cost. That said I would hire again to get cost ironed out before work. Good work again by the workers.

Their vacuum didn't work and didn't filter the soot, and a big thick dark stream of black carbon particles started pouring from the back of the vacuum into my living room and all over me since I was sitting in a nearby sofa. To my astonishment, the operator didn't seem to care about the mess he was making and I had to ask him to stop since he was covering all the living room with a big dark cloud of soot. After acknowledging that the vacuum was malfunctioning he tried to excuse himself by saying that the vacuum's filter was old, used, and ruined. He opened the vacuum in my living room, lifted the filter and showed the remains of an old destroyed dirty filter as black dirt was falling off of it. Then, he ask me for paper towels. I thought he was going to attempt to clean the mess with it, but amazingly, he used it to attempt to cover the gap in the back of the vacuum where the soot was coming out, while he continued to use it! As soon as he came through the door it was clear that he didn't want to service the fireplace but rather wanted to sell me a new one. As he was walking towards my fireplace and before even touching it, he told me that I had an old model and that it wouldn't work. When I told him that we had used it all of last winter with no problem and that I was not looking to buy a new one but service the one we had, he started acting with a very bad attitude! It was clear that he didn't come prepared for the most basic work, since he didn't even have a lighter or match and I had to give him one! He just had this old dirty vacuum that was malfunctioning and instead of cleaning the ashes from the fireplace it was shooting them towards the living room. After he was gone, I had to vacuum the whole living room and wash all the sofa covers and curtains as they were completely black because of their lousy job. He even dropped dirt in my front porch on his way out. My eyes and throat were very irritated all day and trying to clean up the mess he had made took me several hours.

Great! All work done quite satisfactorily.

Technician came out and I gave him a description of the problem, He looked at the fireplace, took a couple of logs out and looked at the pilot. Tried to light the pilot with the fireplace igniter. I told him that didn't work, but lighting it with a lighter does work. Instead of cleaning the fireplace, which the Angie's List special called for, the technician recommended that I replace the fireplace with a new log set. He said that it was starting to rust (10 years old) and that finding parts for is would be next to impossible to repair the thermocoupler. He said putting a new log set in would be between $1,300 and $1,500. I decided before spending that amount of money that I would do some more research. I purchased some compressed air, took out ALL the logs, cleaned the areas around the log set, including the pilot assembly per the instructions in the manual (which is what I paid Guirkin to do in the first place), and reassembled the fireplace. Since then, the fireplace has worked great! Bottom line, it seems like Guirkin is more about selling more services/products than actually performing the work you pay then to do through "deals" on Angie's List.

Fast service on a weekend -- a cold weekend without heat. Quick diagnostic and repair to get my home heat again :) In and out quick and furnace working again. While he was here he serviced my furnace without me even having to ask. Would definitely use again!

Guirkin says they'll do installation and maintenance, but they won't swap out a burner that's already installed. What's the difference? When I asked if I removed the existing burner, would they install the new one, she still said no. They just don't want any business. They don't do gas log work - skip this company.

Minimal cleaning, told I needed several parts, some had rusted out. Had Massey woods and west come out. They removed glass, cleaned, added chips. Inspection no problems, no rust and issue was a loose wire to thermo. This company needed Manuel other did not. It seemed they really did not care. I believe one of two was part owner, not good!

The guys who came out were outstanding. They were very friendly and knowledgable. They got the job done in a timely fashion for a fair price.
