Description of Work: I had a long time leak at a compression valve that wenmt to my dishwasher. It was a slow leak and I did not know the extent until the linoleum began to bubble and buckle. I found the leak and turned the valve off as it took a couple of days for Gurkin to get there. Whne they finally showed up, the tech. was on time and fixed the problem quickly. As for cost, I think it was a bit pricey, but have nothing to compare it to so I'll consider it reasonable. I'm not good at sweating copper pipes and Gurkin fixed it right.

Description of Work: He fixed out tub faucet dripping problem. Then he flushed of our lines because we had clogged sewage line. He did clear our lines but had a feeling we might have a problem with our sewage system. He recommended another vendor that could pump out our sewage tank and give us a more information. Well he was right, the other vendor found the problem with the distribution box that cracked and collapsed.

Description of Work: Guirkin came out to inspect my gas log set and restart the pilot light. However, the pilot unit needed replacing and, given the age of the log set and previous problems we had had with the set, I decided to have them install a new set which they would order and contact me when the logs came in to set up a time to install. The following week, they contacted me and we agreed that they come out in a few days in the morning. The morning came when they were supposed to install the set and, when no one had contacted me by 11:00 a.m. I called the company. I was initially told I was not on the schedule, then, after double checking, the receptionist apologized and said my work order had been stapled to another person's work order and that the team would be out as soon as they had finished the current job they were on. At 1:30, I called again and was assured that the team would be out soon. About 2:00 I received a call informing me that there had been a mix-up, that the logs hadn't even been ordered and that the local supplier did not have any logs for them to install today. I was asked if I could reschedule for the following Monday. I told them that I had taken off work to have the logs installed and could not ask off again until the following Wednesday. The company asked to call me back. In five minutes, I got a call back -- they had found another supplier and would be able to install the set. They came out and installed the set around 3:00. I do understand that mix-ups can happen, however, given the previous reviews, I was upset that the installation had not gone smoothly, particularly since the installation was scheduled so many days in advance. Everyone was polite and they were able to find a work around so that they could install the set on the scheduled day. I would probably try them for service again.

Description of Work: We had an earthquake that severed our copper water pipes that were embedded in the concrete, and had to have new water lines put in. After that, I was concerned that the propane lines from our underground tank to the fireplace logs Guirken had installed might also have been damaged. Guirken came and inspected everything, and lit the logs since I was scared of them until they were proven to be in working condition. They installed gas logs in our former residence, then in our new residence, and know what they are doing, show up, are clean, efficient, and only deal with reputable products. I don't know how they compare and don't care. When I have a problem they can help me with, that's where I go. Don't get yourself in a pickle--call Guirken. :)

Description of Work: The service went very well. The gentleman who cleaned by fireplace did a very good job. One thing that I found interesting was that when I told the office secretary that my gas fireplace front was bolted on; she then told me that was a more expensive project and that should have purchased their $155.00 "deal" which was also on Angie's list - but that is almost the same regular costs of cleaning from the fireplace company from which I bought the fireplace - so I am not sure anymore if the reduced prices are really "deals".

Description of Work: I have had them out for heating maintenance. I have been using the company off and on for a while. I have not had any issues recently. Kathy, the owners wife, is a friend of mine. They are prompt and I can count on their service. They have good workers. It is easy to schedule a service with them.

Description of Work: They installed a 75 gallon water heater. However, they used the existing base for the new water heater. After a friend told me that the current base was not sturdy, I called Girkin and they immediately replaced the existing base with a new one.

Description of Work: For many years Guirkin Plumbing and Heating serviced our two heat pumps. (We also purchased gas logs from them.) Their work was excellent and technicians very professional. However, when it came time to replace one of the heat pumps, the management's attitude was to quote on their time and their schedule. I understand the need for a range of time for a SERVICE call, but the owner of Guirkin wanted to give me a range of time for a SALES call. I found that unacceptable, and when I voiced my opinion, I received rudeness and sarcasm. After spending thousands of dollars at this company, I expected more. Was I wrong!! If you want to do business on the company's terms, then this would not matter. It mattered to me. We found another extremely accommodating, professional and more economic company to install our new heat pump. Very happy with the new company.
