Answered all my questions and showed me how to light pilot by myself. Gas scares me but David was patient and helpful. Thanks David for your help!

The service providers were very professional and friendly. We bought a home in the summer and were not sure if we were using the gas logs correctly. We were not and it was a danger, so I am glad I scheduled the appointment. The service call would have been $90, but I had a $25 coupon from Angie's List. They did give me a quote for new gas logs of $1200.

When scheduling the service, I specifically asked about 4 times about the pricing based on the type of fireplaces I had. I was told that for routine maintenance it was $150 for BOTH fireplaces, but more if there was a problem to fix. When the service persons came out, after a brief cleaning I was told that it was actually $150 PER fireplace. I called, and was told that this was the correct price. So of course I paid- but I am upset about the discrepancy and lack of knowledge of the person with whom I first spoke.They did not offer anything other than a brief apology afterwards. The service was fine- the people who came out were professional enough- they did their job. But I am not sure I would use them again. I did not have the extra $150 in my budget (especially around the holidays) and would have used another provider or saved up extra money before calling them out.

Firstly, I called another plumber that I used previously on Angies List but I did not receive a return phone call after I left a voice message. As a result, I saw the Big Deal on the website and before I purchased the Big Deal I decided to call the provider. Tommie was there to answer the phone and said it would be next week that someone would be there to fix the issues. As a result, I went ahead and purchased the Big Deal. Adam called the house before he was to arrive but I was still sleeping. As a result, he came in the afternoon on the same day which was fine. He fixed the clog in the kitchen sink and showed me how to fix it if it should occur again in the future. Then he went to the bathroom sink and was testing it to determine the exact cause of the problem (the sink had a slow, constant drip). After testing, he determined that the stem on the hot side of the faucet had to be replaced which was an additional cost for the part. He still had time so he took a look at the water heater and the washer/dryer. In conclusion, the Thank You card was a nice touch thanking me for selecting them for the services provided.

The service went well. They recently contacted me to follow up on the fireplace. Two technicians came out for the job and completed it in about 45 minutes. They were polite and efficient. I had no problem with their work. I had no difficulty reaching to the company and scheduling the service.

I have used the company in the past. They are professional and friendly. They will do anything to resolve an issue and stand behind their work. They did a great job and even showed up early. I called them first thing in the morning because the house was freezing and they were out a little later the same morning. Two technicians came out and completed the job in a half hour to forty five minutes. One of the guys even took a bulb out of a light fixture for me since I could not reach it because of my back problem. They went above and beyond for me.

Prompt, professional, quick service. Very nice gentleman came out and inspected and cleaned our gas fireplace, which I don't even know if it has ever been cleaned before (we just bought the house last year, it is a 2000). Vacuumed out everything and made the glass shine. Difference is night and day. He was also able to answer some questions I had about it. I feel much better knowing our fireplace is safe for the winter and am really looking forward to using it on those upcoming cold days. Looking forward to contacting Guirkin for some other future work. Thanks!!

Everything went very well and the folks renting the house was happy to get the fireplace set up for the year. The company called me about 30 mins to give me the heads up before they arrived.

I called Guirkin about 10 this morning because we had no hot water and was told the plumber might be here before noon. I was amazed. Shortly afterward, Mr. Guirkin called and told me Adam would be here in 30 to 45 minutes. Sure enough, Adam got here and replaced the thermostats in about 10 or 15 minutes. He is very knowledgeable, professional, courteous and a master plumber. I highly recommend Guirkin Plumbing and Heating. I now have a go to plumbing company I can trust. Thanks Angie!

They were good. Their price was reasonable. They had to adjust the flames on m fireplace and they cleaned up. They were polite, they did everything that they said they would do and they left. I would recommend them.

They were terrible. They came out and misdiagnosed something and then broke something else on the machine and I had to call another company and had them come out to fix it. They checked the freon and while they were doing that, they broke the Schrader valve and then all the freon had leaked out. They were terrible when I called back to complain. They blamed it on me and all that kind of stuff.

They were excellent! Mr. Guirkin did some of the work himself with his assistants. Everybody knew what they were doing. He was helpful and gave me the best advice to his knowledge. I called him for another gas log installation when I moved into my new house; he did a beautiful job both times.

I had a good experience with them. They were fine and I would use them again in the future.

This was the only time I used their service and it went fine. The gentleman came on that very same day I contacted them and I was happy with that. He was polite and even taught me how to fix the valve.

We have used them over the years and they have always done a satisfactory job for us.

It took them a while to get here because they were busy, but I had no problem at all. I don't have any complaints at all. The prices were normal, they weren't cheap or expensive, and I would use them again if I had to. The plumber was very personable, and he said that I needed to file it with my home owners insurance, because it shouldn't leak from the back. It had been dripping for quite some time and they came and redid the entire floor. It was quite an experience.

My experience with them was pretty good and I would use them again in the future.

The service from Guirkin Plumbing & Heating was fine. I liked that they let me know what condition everything was in and the way it should be followed up and how often. They didn't just do a service and leave. They talked to me about what they had done and what it looked like. It was average pricing. They just did the work and gave me the paper work and told me what was what about everything. They were very professional.

On time, quick at a reasonable cost.

Response for a request for a quote and scheduling an install date was handled promptly. Plumber & helper arrived on time. The new sink would not fit the opening in the counter top because of different support structure near the edges of the sink than the original sink (the sink size was a common, standard size). The plumber said he could not enlarge the opening in the counter top and did not offer a solution. So I got out my circular saw and reciprocating saw and enlarged the counter top opening by 1/2 inch on two sides so the sink installation could continue. I accept that since I purchased the sink it was my responsibility to purchase a size that should fit in the counter top and by the manufacturer's specifications it should have fit. I think that the plumber should have taken care of this unforeseen problem; for an extra charge. But the problem was simply put back in my lap without any suggestion for a solution. By the time the problem was discovered all the water lines and the drain pipe and been disconnected. It was not acceptable to be without a kitchen sink for a couple of days while I found a carpenter to come in and enlarge the counter top opening. So I asked the plumber to wait (30+ min) while I enlarged the counter top opening myself. If I had not been home my wife would have been left with a very frustrating and unnecessary problem.

It took two attempts to fix the fireplace and we were charged both times.

The provider came out to the house to determine how functionality of my gas fireplace. We found that the tank has been locked before any work was done. He advised that I contact my gas provider to renew the account and said he'd come back when it was done. He did not charge me for the visit. I would totally use this company again in the future.

3/4/2014 - Called Guirkin out to investigate a gas leak on, they told me they would get out there in the afternoon. The afternoon came and the tech called to say he could not make it out in the afternoon, came out first thing in the morning. 3/5/2014 - The tech came out diagnosed the problem, the old furnace was shot, I need a new furnace. Guirkin quickly came up with a quote of $3750 for installation of a new furnace and removal of the old furnace. They told me they could have the new one installed by the end of the day. The price seemed good and the turnover time couldn't have been better, so I quickly turned over the signed contract as to have no delays. 3/7/2014 ? The new furnace was finally installed, a couple cold days latter then they told me. Old furnace was still in the crawl space. The real issue I had with Guirkin was with the removal of the old furnace, it was disconnected and pushed aside but not removed from the crawl space. It turns out that removal of the old furnace was not easy, which should have been obvious to the tech that made the estimation. The old furnace was a bit bigger then the new furnace and to get it out of there they were either going to have to do some digging, temporarily remove some duct work or cut it up and remove it in pieces. The old furnace was not original to the house and if I had to guess the way it came in was to remove duct work. The removal of the old furnace ended up being a bit more then Guirkin wanted to tackle so the first game they tried to play was to attempt to charge me more money to remove the furnace, that conversation didn't go over well as I reminded them of our contract for $3750 which included removal. After that conversation they just tried to walk away from the job. About a week later I called them asking them when they were going to remove the old furnace. I ended up talking to the owner and several thing came out of it: 1) They were not going to remove the old furnace. It was to hard to cut up in the crawl space and the bolts on the ductwork where to rusty to mess with. 2) The contract we signed was derived from a template that always says they will remove old furnace and I was basically told they don't always follow the contract if it is no easy to remove old furnaces. I have talked to a former general contractor on this and it's common for some contractors to not want to remove these old furnaces, he said he fired some contractors in the past for not removing old furnaces. He also said they can get it out of there if they want to, they just don't want to spend the time to do it. While the old furnace is not hurting anything at the moment just pushed aside in the crawl space, I fully expect when I sell the house this will come back and haunt me as an inspector will likely raise this an a bogus issue to get his client some money back on the sale of the house. ======================================================================= UPDATE 4/27/2014 ======================================================================= After this review and filing a Better Business Bureau compliant, Guirkin did come out and remove the old furnace on 4/25.

As stated, they did a great job installing a log set for my gas fireplace.

I thought they did a nice job. It was three to four years ago. They just repaired a gas log set for me. The gentle man was very knowledgeable and very professional. I was happy for what he did. I felt like the price was a little bit high, but I think it was to be expected in that field. I would use them again.
