 + 0 moreThe representative was very professional but the price was way too much. If I was unable to install the cover I probably would have researched with at least two other estimates. The price uninstalled seemed reasonable to their estimated price as installed.
Description of Work: Estimated applying a chimney cover (chase). Estimated a stainless steel cover at $770 installed. I went online and overpaid at $338 and had it sent to me. I installed it. Probably could have got it cheaper but less than half price seemed a god deal at the time. A neighbor quoted one from Ace Hardware at $58 for his chimney cover but that's not believable if it was 24 gauge S.S.

 + -1 moreGarett came out and inspected our 100 year old chimney. He gave a honest assessment and a solution. He sent a camera down the flue to inspect it and also took before and after pictures. The crew that came out put down protective cloth for the flooring and sealed off the two unused flues, so that no unwanted dirt or debris went into those two bedrooms. The crew was polite, professional, cleaned up after themselves and worked quickly / well together. On a part of the chimney that was exposed in the dining room there was some odd fiberglass type patch over the brick. The camera showed from the inside of the flue that it could be a hole in the brick. When they pulled the outer patch off a rather large hole had been already filled in. They then gave us a discount since there was nothing to be done. We wouldn't have known the difference if they had charged us the full price. Nice to see that some companies still exhibit honesty these days.

 + 1 moreA thoroughly professional team worked quietly and neatly for two weeks on 6 fireplaces and 4 chimneys in our 100+ year old house. They brought all sections of the fireplace systems up to current code and sealed the flues. We now have safe and efficient wood and coal burning fireplaces. We will be cozy and warm this winter, no matter what the weather. We are very plesed and satisfied with our experience.
Description of Work: For 6 fireplaces and 4 chimneys in our 100+ year old home, re-lined all flues, installed dampers and caps, repaired 3 chimneys, re-built 4 fireboxes and hearths, coated smoke chambers and chimneys.

Matt arrived on time, did a quick and wonderful job, then explained all his work with photos of each step. Matt showed us a few things that would need attention in the future, gave us a quote on the work but was never "pushy" about scheduling the work.  + -1 moreI reviewed the company's web site and found it to be very informative. I told them what had happened to make sure they'd use their scope. After arriving, they took their time, had pictures to show me of their inspection, and answered all my questions. They didn't find any damage from the collision- when was the last time you spoke of your house being involved in a collision- but the chimney cover could use some help. That, of course, is aside from the collision. I did not feel rushed at all. And they happily applied the discount for being an Angie's List member to that day's work, and towards the chimney cover work they gave me an estimate for. I'm very judicious about giving out straight A's, but I couldn't say what category they could have improved on. It was a positive experience, and I would call them again. By the way, I live in Chesterfield County. I just prefer my house number and street name are not made available.
Description of Work: They came to inspect my chimney after a car ran into the corner of my house, several feet away from the chimney, since I did not want to ever use the fireplace again before it was checked out.

 + 1 moreoriginal chimney design was poor, especially cap; was leaking through the stone fascia, and through the cap. company gave very detailed assessment, and description of our various options to repair and replace. we ended up choosing a route which was aesthetically better, but that the person honestly said might begin to leak again in a few years. i appreciated the honesty and realistic assessment and itemized quote. once we chose, the work was completed on time, professionally, cleanly, looks great, cleaned up everything, etc.

 + 1 moreThe original damper in our chimney had rusted out. The old damper was removed and a chimney-top damper was installed to replace it. There was absolutely no "mess" despite removing the old damper in the family room on light colored carpeting. The age of the house had been checked with the original contact so that they would be sure to have dampers fitting the chimney size of that era would be on the truck. They also removed the chimney cap that had been installed some time ago and moved it over to the chimney to the furnace rather than throwing it away. An added bonus is that the new damper should make the family room warmer since the cold air will not be sinking down the chimney. The pull to the damper is pring loaded and is within easy reach inside the firebox. Finally, I had a coupon through Angie's List that reduced the price! And the original price was within the estimated price range give by a home inspector.

 + 0 moreThey showed up on time and ready for work. After they inspected and gave an estimate for the job, they returned and did the portion we needed now. With a replacement collar and brick sealing all the water problems are resolved. We still need to get some bricks pointed and have the liner reworked. That is another $2500.00. This is next years job. We will be calling them back for this project. They were helpful and honest about what was needed now. With a water leakage problem being the most critical problem, they understood we had a budget and worked with us. There was no pressure or guilt applied. The "B" on pricing was not a bad thing, it was what it was. They were fair on their prices, it was just a lot of money.

 + -1 moreI called to see about getting an estimate for some repair work on the brick veneer of my house. When I provided my address I was told that because I am located too far away (25 miles) that there would be a $129 dollar charge. I was told if I chose their company that the charge would be waived. I have had several people come out to look at the veneer without a solid answer on what to do. I told the gentleman that I was afraid that they would come out and say they couldn't help me and I would be out $129 and not be any better off.
