No one knows more about Chimneys than we do! Professionally Trained and Certified service technicians and inspectors. Prompt, professional, and courteous service. Locally owned.
We used this company to perform temporary repair about 4 years ago. They applied sealing membranes to both chimneys, but one of them cracked. They gave us a quote for a permanent repair and we scheduled a date. Dan and his crew arrived as agreed and did a great job. They were professional and conscientious. They cleaned up the debris from the job and washed down the deck and work area so you couldn't tell they had been there. Dan took pictures and reviewed them with us before he left and then the office emailed the pictures to us for our files. The chimneys look great.
Description of Work: The chimney crowns on two chimneys were cracked allowing water to leak into the home. The crowns on each chimney were removed and replaced. The entire brick chimney was pressure washed and then waterproofing was applied.

Good morning Ms. [Member Name Removed], I am sorry to hear of the issues you experienced during your chimney sweep and inspection. Incompetent workers, receptionist who refuses to allow customers to talk with "managers", "managers" who don't return calls, and repairmen who destroy the inside of your home. My only recommendation here is to avoid this company like the plague! Nearly three months after accepting Chimney Savers' proposal and putting a deposit down on work, the work that was agreed to has not been completed and we can't even get a simple phone call back from this company. - After putting a deposit down on the work that was to be done, I had to call Chimney Savers multiple times just to get the work scheduled. - When work was not completed in 1-2 days (as I was told it would be), I again had to call Chimney Savers to find out when they would be back to our home to complete the work they had started. - Nearly two weeks after starting the job, they sent someone out to finish the exterior work who had no idea that part of the work included installing a chimney cap. He was completely clueless as to what work was supposed to be done. - I was then told that the cap had to be special ordered. This was SIX weeks after I accepted the proposal and put down a deposit on the work. Why was the cap not ordered weeks before? - I called multiple times asking to speak with a manager. Janet, the secretary, was very reluctant to put me through to a manager (which is very telling). Janet finally put me through to Alex, a "project coordinator" who did nothing about my concerns. - The first time Chimney Savers was out to our home, they tracked red clay dirt all over our stair runner and spilled a dark gray material on the stairs as well. It took 5 weeks and multiple phone calls to Chimney Savers for them to finally schedule a carpet cleaning company to professionally clean the stains they left out of our carpet. The stains were so bad it took two cleanings to remove the stains. - On Christmas eve, Chimney Savers sent two men out to install the special ordered chimney cap...and several hours later, they discovered it didn't fit! Yep, the cap that had to be special ordered to my chimney's measurements and delayed completion of the work was the wrong size! But wait, the men said they might have one in their warehouse that could work! (So, the special ordered cap doesn't fit, but a random one in their warehouse might fit.) We told the men to leave our property and we'd find someone else to complete the work. They left without putting our existing Chimney caps back on correctly. - They called two days later to collect payment. First time in the whole process that Chimney Savers initiated contact with me. - We have tried emailing and calling Garret, a supposed manager, but he does not return our calls. As of the date of this review, we are still waiting to speak with a manager or owner.

They scheduled quickly and were punctual. I have two chimneys and one has two gas fireplaces on it. The charge for each opening because they need to inspect that part of the chimney separately, so the inspection itself was $517 and for that $517 the report failed to mention that one of the chimney had been blocked with foam so when I tried to turn it on there was nowhere for the gas to go. They said the chimneys required $5,100 of repairs: $2,800 to clean creosote from one chimney and $2,300 to repairs the crowns and replace the caps on the other two. Subsequent estimates have been much more reasonable.

All work very well done and on time barring a few unforeseen difficulties outside of their control. But everyone worked diligently to get the project done correctly. Very impressed with their efforts to match the exact bricks needed for the repair. We did not need an exact match but if we did, I am certain they would have taken whatever time necessary to find the exact bricks! Brickwork was excellent, bricks the right size , etc and chimney crown repair is still solid, holding up to subsequent storms.

A separate roofing contractor (Hermitage) installed the cricket. Chimney Saver sent masons to do the brickwork, then came back for waterproofing. Finally the chimney no longer leaks and has not leaked in last 2 years.
Description of Work: Fix a chimney that has leaked for 20 years, despite 2 other outfits' attempts to stop it. This fellow Garret McKivigan came out, supposed to be a expert on leaky chimneys. He recommended a cricket (diverter) be installed behind chimney, all mortar replaced to a depth of 1", replace cracked bricks, replace crown, and then waterproof the whole chimney with siloxane. Still no guarantees, he said, that it would not leak but we were pretty desperate, so went with the whole package,

Consumer beware! I got a quote for a standard cleaning and inspection of the chimney for $239. This price was over 100% higher than several other A-rated companies. They need to get a grip on reality and get competitive with their peers. What a rip-off! Needless to say I didn't hire them.

Everything was great. All who were in the office or here on site were very professional. The quality was excellent.
Description of Work: We had not had our chimney cleaned in over 4 years. Because there was so much creosote, we had to do a chemical clean. Plus someone in the past had concreted down our chimney cap. This was replaced by Chimney Saver Solutions.

They were pretty good. They told us basically that we needed to get things checked out before they did any work on it because it could have cost a lot of money for me. They were very obvious and upfront about it, which is kind of nice. One of the things I liked about it was that they were very honest. They did not want to do any work if there was something wrong with the foundation for the house over time. Probably if there was something wrong with the foundation it would break down what they would do so it would cost us more money in the long run. I would say their cost was pretty reasonable. Their responsiveness was great, getting an appointment was not so good. The availability was not great. I called in November and December 27 was the best they could do. They were on time.
Description of Work: They came out for an initial inspection.

Absolutely horrible bait-and-switch type of service advertisement. First, they have you wait two months to come inspect your chimney. Second, they do a ridiculous poor job at cleaning the chimney ($199 price tag), and then they use the additional $50 to do the inspection. Third, they come back with an absurd list of things to fix and they ask you for $9,000 to do it. You take their proposal, you toss into the trash. Then, you install a carbon monoxide detector, which comes with several security packages, turn on the fireplace, and miracle! It works like a charm.

As it turned out, the workers did not use scaffolding, only ladders that went up in a jiffy. After some discussion with the manager, he agreed to remove the extra $1200, reducing the bill to $3190, which I thought was reasonable given the special skills involved and working 30 feet up.
Description of Work: I needed chimney repair for absent mortar and loose bricks. Also a new stainless steel cap. The initial estimate was high, including a $1200 charge to pay for setting up and takedown of scaffolding.

Our only complaint is with the price and the way the prices were given to us. I wish I could have chosen "maybe" for would I hire again. I'm not sure at this point.
Description of Work: We had our chimney inspected, planning to have it cleaned. The good news was that it didn't need cleaning, but there were some exterior cracks on the top of the chimney that they repaired. The repair has a 10 year warranty, which we felt was good. The serviceman was very courteous and professional. Since the chimney was just inspected and not cleaned, we were very surprised when the charge just to inspect it was $199. The repair was $350, but when we said we had an Angie's List coupon for 15% off, we were told that really the price was $500, but we were charged $350 because we were repeat customers and we couldn't use the coupon. It seems they should have told us that upfront.

No one showed up during the original set appointment. When I called, I was told that I was never scheduled but that I would get a call back the next morning. The company has yet to return my calls and my attempt to reach them went straight to voicemail. I'm very disappointed in their customer service and regret wasting close to 3 weeks for a service call that never occurred. I will be taking my business elsewhere

After showing up and climbing onto the roof, he started his inspection. A few minutes before he came back down the ladder, we heard a loud crack and pop noise. When he came back down to tell my wife how it went, he said he was looking at our seal and that he didn't like how the cap was connected. He recommended replacing caps and not cleaning for now. He also said he would send us a report by the end of the week and confirmed our email address, which he originally had incorrect. I received an email saying it would be a few days until we got our report. That was a month ago. We also went onto the roof to clear off the last of our leaves and saw that the loud pop we heard was him breaking apart a good section of our chimney top, which is now exposed to the elements. We recently purchased the house so we know it wasn't there during our home inspection, as the inspector checked the top of the chimney and recommended we get someone to come out and check the inside. My wife and I have been extremely disappointed by this, as we now have to have someone repair it. What honestly disappoints me the most is not that it was broken but that we were not told it was broken to that extent. I tried emailing them back but have been working an alternate schedule and traveling a bunch, but I will be calling them back this week.
Description of Work: The technician came out to inspect our chimneys (we have two) and see if they needed to be cleaned.

Chimney Saver Solutions did an excellent job of relining our chimney flues, rebuilding the smoke chamber of the fireplace, and extending the exterior brick for the chimney to meet code height. They also did a neat job of reconnecting the exhaust pipes for our gas boiler and gas water heater. All of my contact with Chimney Saver Solutions was friendly and helpful from the estimate to completion. Even the subcontracted bricklayers were clean cut, extremely skilled guys who take pride in the job they do. I was very pleased. The job that was completed was rather extensive and took about 4 days. I felt completely comfortable leaving everyone at the house when I was not even home. Everyone attempted to be careful with our property and was also very professional. Miraculously, there was hardly any dust in the fireplace room when everything was complete. With all the flu tile breaking and all the mortaring going on, I am totally impressed at this. It was more than I had hoped for. Of course, there was dust in the garage and even in the laundry room, but you've gotta expect a little mess with all the work that was being done. I am extremely happy with the work that was done and want to highly recommend Chimney Saver Solutions to anyone looking for chimney work. This is the second time I have hired them in a home, and I was just as pleased the first time.
Description of Work: Reline 2 chimney flues with stainless liner, rebuild smoke chamber in corner fireplace, extend brick exterior of chimney to code height, cap chimney and flues.
