We thought it was ridiculously expensive. They were going to charge us twice, what a fuel cost to install it. It was change in the electrical outlet, pumping gas from the garage, which was on the other side of the kitchen more of and to trim a countertop. So, we just thought that was unwise. It was way too much money to install, less of the debt from other people. We would have no work done for less than half. They were quick to return the phone calls. The guy who came was extremely pleasant. He got back to us very quickly. Except for the fact, we thought that the estimate was so much that we were getting overcharged and it was ridiculous. The interaction was fine; it was not that they wanted to do the work. The guy was definitely professional. He was confident enough to do the job but he was way too expensive.

They were very professional. The estimate was very good. It was very detailed and had absolutely everything in it. It told when they could start. It was much better than any others; very complete. Even though it took a little longer to get them to come out and to get the estimate, it was really good. They are in the same ball park as one of the others that I got. They were very good and professional. They had a lot of good ideas and answered all of our questions. They promised the estimate a week before we got it, but when I saw it it did have a lot of information. They were here when they said they would be.

Would use again, great service and price.

Friday evening arrived home from work and discovered water dripping from first floor ceiling. Source was small crack in copper tubing that must have been leaking quite some time. Turned off water at the source and waited until Saturday morning in the hopes I could find a plumber who would come out on a Saturday. First time using a plumber so I joined angielist and called RJ Tilley because they were A rated and had Saturday hours. Called at 9am, received their answering service who forwarded my message. RJ Tilley returned my call at 9:30, I explained my problem and Leroy said he'd be at the house in an hour. Leroy showed up promptly at 10:40, looked at the problem and replaced the bad piping within 30 minutes. Leroy was very cordial, his work was professional and I'll use them again. Hopefully we'll get Leroy again so we can talk fishing some more. Sure, the price was high but I expected that for Saturday morning service.

Arrived at the requested time. Replacement was complete in the time and for the price originally quoted. Quick, clean and efficient.

Everything went great. They were very efficient and a pleasure to work with. They did a tremendous amount of work in a short amount of time.

They came quickly and they were in and out quickly. We haven't had any problems since.

It was a good experience. We have used him once before. He is here when he is supposed to be here and he does a good job. We are satisfied with him, though he is expensive.

We were very pleased, and would use Tilley again, for sure.

They were very helpful. They ended up telling me how to fix it over the phone and didn't charge me anything.

My double kitchen sink was stopped up really bad. I had filthy black water backing up into it. Using a plunger did no good. So, I searched for plumber's on Angie's List. They were the second company I called. The first one couldn't get there that day: they could only come the next day. But, I was desperate: I needed to run the dishwasher & cook dinner later, and I couldn't do any of that with the sink backed up so badly. So, I called RJ Tilley next, but I wish now that I had called around a bit more: they ended up taking too long & costing too much. When I called, I described my problem and the man who answered said they could probably resolve the problem within 10 or 15 minutes: the drain pipe probably just needs to be snaked. The one guy who came out did arrive within an hour of my call: so I was happy with how quickly they arrived. He tried to snake out the drain, but it didn't work. At a couple of points, he actually went up on the roof & tried to snake the pipe going all the down from the rooftop vent pipe: none of it worked. He also went out into the yard to try to figure out where the pipes were underground (I was appalled when he talked about maybe having to dig up the pipe, digging underneath the living room or installing new drainage pipes in the basement to get around the blockage). I was pretty disturbed by that (not only because of the potential destruction of my floor or yard, but also because I was imagining the incredible cost of doing all that). So, I was somewhat relieved when he called in a coworker to help him out. When the second man showed up, the first guy went back up on the roof to snake some more. They kept running water in the other sinks that weren't stopped up (in the bathrooms, down in the basement and in the mud room). One guy was inside running the taps and the other guy was walking around the house and the yard trying to figure out where the pipes were underneath the ground. They also tried to take apart the trap underneath the sink, but that didn't help either. They finally ended up snaking the pipe from down in the basement which finally cleared the pipe out. They told me they thought the blockage in the pipe was near where the pipe leaves the basement & goes out under the living room (a converted carport with cement floor covered in laminate flooring). That estimate of "10 to 15 minutes" turned out to be over 3 hours. The $100 - $150 I thought I would have to pay ended up costing $410 (they gave me a "break" on the price and didn't charge extra for the extra man who showed up). They did fix the problem (eventually), but I was appalled at how long it all took and how much it cost. One bonus: they did a good job of cleaning up after themselves and I didn't find any dirty water on the floor and this was a messy job.

David showed up exactly on time and greeted me with a smile. He was professional and knowledgeable. He identified the problem immediately and wasted no time fixing the situation. I have already recommended R.J. Tilley to 2 different people. David also gave advice to help with a permanent remedy. I knew before I called that they were only able to patch a larger problem but the suggestions he made could potentially save me thousands down the road.

Mcuh better than my first experience. They got things operational again and discovered an issue with my pump that was resulting in backage into the house.

It went real smoothly and they did what they said they would do when they said they would do it.

Prompt response and seemingly thorough assessment of our needs (their representative took pictures and measurements of the relevant spaces)... but they did NOT give us the item-specific estimates we requested, just a single estimate for ALL the work we were considering. Also, because we received two more responsive estimates prior to receiving theirs, we went ahead and selected another business to do the work we wanted done.

They were very easy to work with, and sent out a very intelligent worker that informed us that we didn't really have that big of a problem. He was prompt and seemed to be very wise in his field of work.

The technician came and removed a home-made gas log set made by the previous owner. It was classic, but not safe to use. RJ Tilley's guy came in, got right down to business and put in my new gas logs and showed us how to use them.

See above, not much of a story to tell. I though five bills was a bit high for the work done, so the "B" rating there, but everything works just fine!

The shower in my downstairs bath (redone less than 12 months ago by another plumber that I will never use again) was having problems - half the water was coming out of the tub faucet and half the shower. The RJ Tilley plumber (David) came out (on a schedule I requested and right on time) and found the problem. I needed a new diverter. He faxed the part number to his office and they searched for the part but were unsuccessful. David explained that while they could try to order the part for me, things would go much faster if I were to call the company and get the part since I as the homeowner have the warranty. The part arrived on 6/2 so I immediately called RJ Tilley; David was back the next morning and in 30 minutes had replaced the diverter and had my shower working again. He did a fantastic job -- caulked around everything and left it all neat and clean. I highly recommend RJ Tilley - prompt, professional and excellent work!

Excellent experience from Start to Finish. From the initial Design consultations to the surprise Art Deco "look" achieved when all the work was done, R.J. Tilley surpassed expectations. For the cost of the initial contract (10,500ish) and the 2 Change orders (Pipe splice, Toilet rebuild), the total 12K spent was on-budget for what a job of this magnitute should run.. And R.J. Tilley supplied a dedicated Project Mgr so the work was tracked and inspected daily on site. The project finished on time (1 month projected, 1 month actual) and the "Wow" factor is just "Wow".... They wanted my business, my small budget didn't faze them one bit, the trades showed up when they were scheduled and I have an investment-quality remodel to show for it. Sadly, they didn't take pictures for their web-site gallery, but I'll send them one... And, I'll use them again.

We don't know when the leak started but when we found it, we checked your list for recommendations. RJ Tilley Co. came the first time and always returned promptly until they got the repair complete but they only charged me once for the repair. These guys are the best and I am recommending them to everyone! They will be who I call for all repairs of plumbing and heating in my home.

The work was fine, but the overall price was too high. I would find a cheaper company in the future.

David was on time. Performed the job well and in a timely manner. I would definately use R J Tilley again.
