Yeager Gas Fireplace Service

This is an update to a Feb 2013 review. As noted above, we were having problems with our Neat'n'Glo gas fireplace insert. I contacted Yeager Gas Fireplace in August and we were able to quickly schedule an appointment. The technician came to the house and gave the insert a good going-over and based on our problem, recommended we get a new starter and control module. Parts were ordered through Glovers (in Fredericksburg, VA - EXCELLENT service) and were promptly received within a couple of weeks. Bill Yeager came out to the house for a second visit to install the parts. During this visit, he had to discuss the parts installation with the Heat'n'Glo service department and discovered that the starter had been updated ("recalled") but Heat'n'Glo did not tell Glovers about parts recall. Bill suggested that we wait on the parts install until we received the new/recalled part. Bill returned the "recalled" part to Glovers; they exchanged the part at no cost to me and since the new starter was a "recall", they also credited me back the cost of the old part. Once the new part was in, Bill rescheduled the appointment. This took a few weeks to do as there had been a "cold snap" and folks all of a sudden needed gas fireplace service. Nothing is simple with a Heat'n'Glo gas insert. It took Bill about 3 hours to replace the new parts. The insert had to be completely pulled out to gain access to the control module. After the parts were install, Bill finished checking out the unit and conducting a fall checkup of the unit, including new "burning embers" and cleaning the glass front.

A few months after we purchased our home, I smelled gas coming from the fireplace. I was a little bummed that I would have to spend money on a fireplace that I don't even use. It is a gas fireplace that delivered no heat and looked as calming and interesting as staring at the flame on my gas stove so I had only used it twice. Well, Bill came and fixed the leak and about 5 other things that he found wrong with it. It apparently had not been installed by a knowledgable professional whenever the former owner converted to a gas from natural fireplace. By the time he was done, the logs had been restacked, the flame was about 5 times bigger than before and it put out enough heat that I no longer needed a space heater every time I used the room. I feel like I have a new fireplace! I use it EVERY time I am in the room now. Best $200 that I have spent on this house!

Bill was very pleasant and professional throughout. He was thorough and did a great job. We'll definitely call him again when we need fireplace work done.

Everything was fine. They were a little bit late for the appointment time but he called me and asked if we wanted to reschedule or accept him coming later. We accepted him coming later. He came and was very professional, courteous, and enjoyed doing his work.

Todd was on time, polite, and very honest. I told him that I was sure we needed to replace a specific part. He did a complete inspection and determined that we did not need the replacement part. I appreciate that honesty. He cleaned up after the job was done and explained everything in laymen's terms regarding the service he completed. I was completely happy and will use their service again.

We were very pleased with our first Service call from Yeager Gas Fireplace Service. Mr. Yeager made the service call himself, made the repairs, cleaned the glass and then took the time to show us how to take it apart to clean it--something that had not been done in past service calls from other companies. Very pleased with their service overall. Our vented, gas log fireplace was not putting out its normal amount of flame or heat. We called them and someone got back to me the same day to set up an appointment for about one week later. They arrived on time and went right to work. Bill quickly cleared the burner orifice of the partial blockage in it, even though he was training a new technician. He laid down big pieces of heavy brown paper to protect the carpet. After clearing the burner orifice, they cleaned the inside glass of the fireplace, and cleaned/dusted the inside and outside of the fireplace, as well as adding "fire wool" (not sure of the exact term - the stuff that glows and looks like embers in a fire) to refresh the overall look of the gas logs. Whole fireplace looks great now and is really putting out a nice amount of heat. Bill accepted my personal check and left a good, descriptive invoice before leaving. I would definitely seek his services again.

We have a gas fireplace and the pilot was not staying lit. We also were worried about a potential gas leak. He came out and fixed the pilot light (tightening the thermocouple) and checked and fixed the leak. We emailed him on Sunday and he called back the same day, making an appointment for the following day. He called several times to let me know when he was coming, and was friendly and accommodating about the time/issue. He also cleaned off the gas logs, replaced some of the 'embers' and cleaned off our doors. He kept the area neat and clean. We were very pleased and will use Yeager again.

The installation and service was excellent. Also, when a part went bad on the motor for the recently installed remote, Bill Yaeger responded to a phone call promptly and also promptly replaced the motor and got the unit functioning again free of charge. I would definitely recommend this company and would use them again in the future.

They arrived on time and cleaned and repaired the gas mechanism for the fireplace.

Contacted Yeager Gas Fireplace Service to assist with a gas fireplace tune up. Really liked these folks from the beginning. Very responsive to emails and service date requests. Technician came right on time and did outstanding job. Had an issue with my gas line and the technician was able to pin point the problem. All in all, a great experience and service and I plan to use Yeager again!

I have been in the service industry for a while and I understand how one service call or another can take more time than anticipated. And that is what happened on my service day. I give him an A on this because Bill kept me appraised of the delay so no problem there. Once her arrived, he handled this call extremely professionally. He had all the right materials to protect my floors and check for any problems. He determined the problem was a cleaning issue and cleaned not only the fire place but the glass doors. It works great AND looks great. He double checked the airflow to make sure there was no gas leak. My other issue was a unit in the basement that works off of a remote ... but the remote did not work... I'd like to tell you he was a genious with remotes but mostly he just embarrassed me (not his fault ... mine) by telling me the receiver needed batteries .... nevertheless .... he cleaned that fireplace too and it is wonderful. I am very happy with the service and will be using them every year for a check-up. Bill is a very personable highly skilled technician and business owner that you will not be sorry you hire. I was lucky to get him to come to my house but I understand that he is equally picky about his employees.

Bill is running a small operation, with only a few employees. He, however, runs a tight ship, and focuses on producing quality service. It took me a couple of calls before I could make an appointment. Due to the holidays and other schedules, it was about a week and a half from my initial call before he scheduled me. (Part of it also depends on where you live -- he prefers to cluster appointments geographically when he can.) Once scheduled, things went well. He disassembled, inspected, cleaned, and re-assembled everything. He also explained what he was doing as he went along. He also suggested that the next time I turn off my fireplace to defer a repair, to get it repaired over the summer (before Labor Day.) Getting a gas fireplace repaired or maintained during that season is considerably cheaper. I would definitely recommend him, and would use him again.

We were having stone installed on the fireplace wall, and wanted to have the fireplace checked out before construction. We were able to receive an immediate appointment. A technician came out to our condo, thoroughly cleaned the gas fireplace and made sure it was in working order. However, we still noticed a smell when the gas fireplace was running. He said their was no leak, but did not have a gas detector with him, which was unfortunate since we mentioned that in our initial call. Later we spoke directly with the owner Bill Yeager, and he scheduled an appointment to check out the fireplace himself. He brought a gas detector and confirmed that there was no leak, and explained how non-vented fireplaces sometimes emit an odors if not used a lot. He advised that we try to run it more often, and explained in detail how our fireplace worked. He only charged us minimally for the second trip. He was very personable, and we would use his services again. I think his pricing is very reasonable.

I contacted Bill Yeager by email just before the Holidays. We exchanged a few emails about my problem, I also sent a few pictures of the issue. Bill suggested that a new set of gas logs was in my future, however, I was not ready to spend the money on new logs at this moment. He agreed to send someone out to have a look and see what else could be done. His guys showed up on time, on the Saturday before Christmas! They phoned in the morning to confirm the time and called on their way to my house again to confirm that we were all set. When they arrived, they took their shoes off and got right to work. They walked me through the entire process, explained everything they were going to do and told me why they were doing each thing to my unit. They took the time to investigate the issue, fix it, make some adjustments to the gas logs, cleaned everything up inside the fireplace and left it looking and working better than it ever has. The guys did a great job of keeping my house clean while working in the fireplace.

I sent an email to Bill via Angie's list website, requesting service. He responded promptly and asked me to confirm location. We exchanged a few emails before he called to confirm the appointment. I live in Reston, so I scheduled an appointment when he was scheduled to be in the Reston area a week later. The service request was not an emergency so this worked out fine. He was very personable and checked everything over and cleaned the fireplace (which was not too dirty, since I haven't used it that much). I would use his services again.

I was able to make an appointment with this company on the day that I called, and I was given an approximate time of arrival. On the day of the appointment, Bill called to confirm the appointment and to let me know that he was on his way. Once he arrived in my development, he called again to let me know he was close. Turned out that my fireplace needed a new part, which Bill replaced on the spot. He was professional, friendly, and knowledgable. The price for repair was very reasonable. I will definitely use this company again.

Bill responded very quickly to my email asking for an appointment. We set up an appointment for the following week. Bill called prior to the appointment and arrived on time. He determined the problem - something no other company had ever noticed - fixed it and the fireplace has been working great ever since. We will definitely use this company in the future for our yearly cleaning and for any other issues that may arise.

He was a little later than originally, planned, but he called to let us know that he would be so. He also quoted me a discounted price based on our neighborhood. I would definitely use him again.

It went very well. Very timely, professional and pleasant service especially for a rather small job,. i would use them repeatedly. they also got me in before thanksgiving which was super helpful

The service person arrived on time even during the major storm Super Storm Sandy our area had. He was very friendly and knowledgable. He repaired our gas fireplace for a reasonable price. We will use this company again in the future and recommended to friends.

A couple of weeks after the initial fireplace cleaning and maintenance visit, John of Yeager Gas Fireplace Service returned to my home to add a remote to my system. He would have installed this during the first visit but the remotes were out of stock. Despite being more than an hour late on the first visit, on this visit, they were fast, professional and.... on time!!

the owner called and let my husband know that he was stuck in traffic. He found the problem with our gas fireplace (loose connection) and tightened it. It works great now!!! Will use again

The tech arrived much more than an hour late, after I called to learn his whereabouts, but I am choosing to excuse this because he had a reasonable explanation for his tardiness and he was accommodating, knowledgeable and professional. He took care to make sure he didn't leave my house any dirtier than it already is. :-) Yeager gives good customer service from the first phone call to the payment at the end of the appointment. Price was reasonable -- about half what I paid another company for the same service a few years ago.

From start to finish, Yeager Gas Fireplace Service did a great job. I called and also emailed them regarding scheduling the PMI and they responded that same day. We arranged for a late evening appointment for the following Monday and they arrived soon after the window began. Since my fireplace was operational, I asked for a annual maintenance check. Upon arrival, Bill put down large paper tarp to keep the mess contained. He checked the fireplace thoroughly, cleaned up the logs and glass, and even repainted the back wall area because the black paint had faded. He then installed the remote control for $105. Work was done quickly and professionally. My fireplace is working great and i plan to use their service again next year.
