Very prompt and professional. Work completed in one day. They cleaned up so well that had I not known they were coming, I would not have known they were here. Selected company based on reviews here and am glad I did. Would highly recommend.

Roofworks of Virginia replaced 25-year-old gutters that were removed before painting the exterior of our house. The company was very flexible about installation date, which depended upon the painters finishing in the areas where the gutters were to be installed. The work was finished promptly and carefully.

Old gutter dripped on deck at the point where sliding glass door opens. Estimator evaluated and found holes in the old gutter where some patches had been attempted. After some discussion on minimum charges I opted to replace the run of gutter with aluminum shield added to compensate for short shingles on roof. Estimated cost was $360. Repair team came promptly and performed work ahead of promised date. They were able to use existing aluminum drip edge to channel water from roof into gutter. Since the extra aluminum shield was not needed to price was reduced to $300. I appreciated the company's honesty in pricing and in working us in ahead of schedule.

Phone calls were always returned promptly and they were always happy to answer any questions. The work did slip a few days from the initial estimated schedule, but they called well in advance to coordinate the change. The workers were very professional and took care to protect my deck and other areas of the property. All removed materials were cleaned up and hauled away. I've found absolutely nothing ... not a single nail ... that they missed.
Description of Work: All old roof was removed and sheathing inspected and replaced where necessary. Vent flashing were replaced, new vapor barrier and felt were laid before new shingles and shingled roof vent was installed. There was some minor damage due to ice buildup which they also repaired. All gutters and downspouts were replaced with new materials including leaf guards.

Overall my brief experience with Roof Works was good. I contacted Roof Works for an estimate to replace my shingles on the roof of my residence. A date and time was provided as to when someone would be coming out. The person I spoke to (same person who came out) was very accommodating and even agreed to coming out on a weekend due to our scheduling conflicts, which he said they normally do not do. I appreciated this very much. The person coming out (do not remember name) was late but called prior to advise me he was running late, which I appreciated. He was no more than fifteen minutes late. The male who came out was very nice and professional. He took measurements and looked around outside but did not ask nor did he seem interested in going into my home to view the attic spaces, which concerned me due to parts of my home dating back to pre-civilwar. Again, the gentleman was very nice and did a good job in representing the company and the product. The products Roof Works offered were comparable to another companies products I spoke to. The quote he gave me was approximately $120.00 less than the company I went with. The reason I did not use Roof Works is because I had a unique situation in which an attic space separate from the main attic was not getting adequate ventilation and would not meet the requirements for the warranty on the shingles. When I advised the appraiser of this situation he never asked to take a look or offered any resolution other than to tell me there was nothing his company could do to resolve the problem. Another company provided a solution and I went with them. If it had not been for my special situation I probably would have gone with Roof Works.
Description of Work: Provided an estimate for the removal and replacement of my roof shingles and for some new gutters.

Response and punctuality of both the estimate and actual work were EXCELLENT! Both gentlemen explained exactly what was wrong and what needed to be fixed. The actual repairmen had a slightly different story than the estimator, which threw me off a bit, but I think it was simply because the estimator couldn't actually remove the shingles and look at the problem, but had to go by what he could see. Actual repair is expected to be less than the estimate (how often does that happen?) and is to be re-invoiced and billed to me soon. Actual job was completed in less than two hours and I was free to enjoy the rest of my day.

Vince came out to do an estimate for us the day after I called. He spent the time to explain everything that needed to be done to replace and repair the gutters on our home, (there was a lot of damage to the wood around and under the existing gutters). He was able to give us an estimate for everything before he left. A couple weeks after we signed the contract the first crew arrived and started removing the old gutters, wrapping the fascia and frieze boards, and replacing the old soffits. They were very careful to check for any damaged wood as they went, and replace what they found. They started on a Thursday afternoon and finished on Saturday afternoon (the forman asked if it was ok to work on the weekend). We were amazed how fast it went. We have 500 ft of gutters as well as siding on 4 dormers. The 2nd crew came the on Tuesday of the next week to install the gutters, downspouts and gutter guards. Everything was done and cleaned up by Thursday. After the first rain storm we noticed the gutters in the front of the house were not catching the rain. I called them on Friday and the crew was back on Saturday morning and fixed the problem. Everyone that we spoke with in the office and all the workmen were very friendly and professional. We got wonderful service and our home looks great!

We noticed a leak in our kitchen roof and called Roof Works to determine the cause and give us an estimate. The estimator was punctual, even though there was a tornado warning in effect for our neighborhood. He explained the problem, someone had previously nailed some nails in the roof and removed them without sealing the holes, causing the plywood to deteriorate in that area over time, He graphically demonstrated the problem by sticking his finger through the roof tiles and into the plywood up to his second knuckle. He gave up two options for the repair, replace the entire sheet of plywood @ $500 or patch the hole @ $350. I was going to have the plywood replaced, but he advised the patch would work just as well and would cost less. He also noticed a some damaged ridge caps, which would also be replaced and included in the price. The technicians arrived at the scheduled time, completed the work in very short order. So far, it there does not seem to be any issue with the repair - I guess time will tell how good it was. I thought the cost was a little high considering the time it took to compete the repair, but since I have not had any other roof repairs to compare this to, I do not know if it was excessive or not, thus my rating of "Fair" on the cost.
Description of Work: Removed existing shingles in area of a small leak, installed heavy gauge metal over hole in plywood, installed ice and water shield underlayment over repair area, and installed new shingles in area of repair. Repaired two damaged ridge caps at ridge of reverse gable.

They responded quickly to my initial contact call; came out promptly to see the job, described the problem with the roof, and gave me a detailed description of the work to be done. I chose Roof Works to do the job because they were better able to describe exactly what they would do to solve the problem. I chose them over other roofing companies with comparable estimates for this reason. They worked quickly, well within the time limits they estimated and answered all my questions in a way that I could understand. They were prompt courteous, friendly.
Description of Work: Replaced the saddle area of the front portion of the roof roof which was not installed properly when my home was built. (I had noticed a problem with peeling paint around the front door from the first year I moved in, but the builder maintained there was no problem while the house was under warranty.) Six years later the problem became critical when water damaged interior ceilings on the front of my home. Roof Works: Replaced improperly installed sheet rubber, recovery board, ice and water shield underlayment, and flashing at the right front entrance; properly glued and cemented the rubber, underlayment, flashing and other materials in the affected areas and replaced shingles. They cleaned up the debris and hauled it away. They also resealed a little oval window overlooking this section of the roof.

The people are very friendly, but getting them to followup was a nightmare. I spent more time tracking them down to get an appointment setup than was necessary. I left voicemails and no one called back. I finally got in touch with someone and tried to schedule an appointment. That took a few tries too, to get the guy to contact me about a date to fix my roof damage caused by high winds. However, when the team does show up, they do great work, are really fast, and you wouldn't know they were there had you not seen them for yourself. Aside from the communication issue, they did well. I am not sure if I would use them again though because it was too hard to get in touch with them in the first place, but we will see.
Description of Work: I'm no roof expert, nor do I have the estimate handy to accurately state what was done, but they resealed the area on my roof and readhered some of the loose shingles. Lucky for me the wind damage was not too much.

They did an excellent job. Showed up first thing in the morning and were finished by late afternoon. Cleaned up all the waste. Other than the new roof, could not tell they had been there. They did forget one thing, the gutter guards. We called the next day and they came out within a couple hours and finished the job. Overall a pretty good experience.

The gentleman came and climbed up on my roof, examined the issue, and graciously looked at other issues I came up with. He clearly explained what the problem was, how to fix it, and gave me a written estimate. The workers came on time, completed the job quickly and neatly, and the problems were resolved. Included with the price above were gutter guards for the entire house, as well. Everyone was friendly and professional. I intend to use them again for an investment property that needs a new roof.

This review was for the ROOF WORKS OF MARYLAND- Lanham Md
Description of Work: We had the roof and two skylights replaced due to hail damage. Most of job was covered by insurance. Extremely long initial consultation. Company left a message on our voicemail in reference to job being done the following day. Of course we didn't get the message and came home from work to a mess both in the yard and our familyroom. My husband tried to remove the debris from of familyroom furniture and new carpet, but it now needs to be professional cleaned. We would have preferred an opportunity to move and/or cover our furniture and floor. It doesn't seem professsional or courteous not to get verbal confirmation from the homeowners prior to an install. The office was helpful in scheduling a day for them to come back to clean up. But of course by the time of the final inspection we had done most of it ourselves.

We do not have any regrets about choosing Roof Works of Virginia .
Description of Work: Summary: Roof Works of Virginia successfully repaired a leak around a skylight after two other roofing companies were unsuccesful at doing so. Details: In 2008, we had an addition put on our house. As part of that work, we had a skylight installed and new shingles put on the older section of the house. Unfortunately, after the addition was finished, we noticed evidence of leaks in several places, including around the skylight. To make a long story short, we called our builder at least four different times to get their roofers to come out and try to fix the leaks. Each time, the roofers would perform some work, but the leaks remained. We finally gave up on the builder's roofers and decided to call a different roofing company from the local area. That roofing company was able to fix all the leaks, except for the leak around the skylight. A second attempt to fix the skylight leak by that company was unsuccessful. Since the remaining leak was around the skylight, I decided that it might be a good idea to contact a roofing company that was also a certified Velux skylight installer. From the Velux web site, I found that Roof Works of Virginia was about the nearest certified Velux installer. I joined Angie's List and found that Roof Works of Virginia had positive reviews from other Angie's List members. We decided to contact Roof Works of Virginia. Vince from Roof Works came out and inspected the roof and skylight where rain was leaking onto the ceiling and causing damage. The skylight had been installed on a shingled section of roof that was part of the 2008 addition. Vince said that in his view, shingles should not have been put on that section of roof due to its low slope. Vince presented us with two options: 1) for repairs around the skylight itself and 2) for repairs around the skylight and on the upper side of the skylight in case water was getting under the shingles above the skylight and running downhill. Vince said that the work could not be guaranteed because the roof seemed flawed from the beginning. My wife and I decided to have Roof Works perform the work specified in Option 2 for $800. After contacting the company to tell them our decision, they called us back to give us a date of Feb. 14th for doing the work. A crew arrived on Feb. 14th. According to the crew, while performing the agreed-upon repairs with new ice and water shield, shingles, and skylight flashing, they found a seal around the skylight which was not positioned correctly. They fixed this problem. The next time we got a significant rain, my wife and I were very pleased to find that the ceiling around the skylight remained dry. Subsequent rains have confirmed that Roof Works of Virginia fixed the problem. A few days after the work, we received a bill for the estimated price of $800, which we paid a week or so later.

Perhaps the most impressive thing about this company is how totally TIDY they are. They brought a dumpster (that was filled with the two layers) and when they left there was no scattering of debris left behind at all. This has not been out experience in the past. They stayed in excellent communication, although they did show up to bring materials ahead of time with no notice. The work was done very efficiently and quickly, except that they did run out of shingles at the end - apparently a very slight underestimation. They had to reorder and return. Rain also complicated the whole process, and they were there on Saturday to get the project finished. They also underestimated the price, since they had to replace more plywood then expected. But the estimator warned us, and we weren't unduly shocked. The cost is an estimate on my part, because I don't know exactly where it ended up. The roof is a fairly complicated one, and I understand why the number of shingles might have been underestimated. All in all, it was a very satisfactory performance.
Description of Work: We had a leak that evidently resulted from the earthquake in August, but the roof was more than 20 years old and was a second layer on an almost 45-year-old house anyway. Roofworks took off the old roof and replaced much of the plywood and reshingled it.

I called Roof Works of Virginia to get an estimate to replace a roof on a rental house. They were quick to return my call and Vincent Grigsby arranged a sight visit in order to give me an estimate. He emailed the estimate to me and followed up to answer any questions I had. I got 2 other estimates in the Fredericksburg area, and was most impressed with the customer service of Roof Works over the others. The prices were not all that different for the job, so based on other Angies List recommendations, and the friendliness and attention to details, I went with Roof Works. The roof looks really good, and no leaks - even after the huge rains of the past few weeks.

After storm damage, I contacted 5 local Fredericksburg companies to estimate repairs to my homes roof. Vincent from RoofWorks was the first to respond and gave an excellent estimate. Instead of telling me what needed to be done, he gave me several options from repair to replacement, and a variety of cost ranges. Most of the other estimators gave me a hard sell on a top-end solution, and tried to sell me gutters, windows and things I did not need. After deciding to go with RoofWorks, I signed the agreement, was given a time range for work to begin, and was told I'd be contacted soon about the schedule. I received an excellent briefing on what would be involved, and things I could do to make the process better. The next day, I was called and given a start date of the following week at 7:00 AM. Exactly on time, the crew showed up and set to work. Everything went as planned, and despite 100 degree weather, the workers did an amazing job. Because of all the details (gables, valleys and ridge lines) it took 4 days for the project to be completed. Each day, from dawn to dusk they worked continually. Every night, my yard was cleaned, and all tools, ladders, tarps and equipment were neatly stowed on my driveway. During work, the crew was polite and considerate. I was impressed how on a construction site, they accomplished their tasks without undue shouting or dramatic commotion. When they were done, I had a beautiful roof, and my yard was completely clean and free of any signs of construction. Roofworks was able to keep within their cost estimate, performed their work exactly as they promised, and left me with an excellent construction experience. I highly recommend RoofWorks for residential roofing work! NOTE: I gave R/W a "B" on price only because they were not the lowest bidder among the 5 estimates I received. One estimator submitted a bid $500 less, but was not able to schedule the work quickly, had unreasonable payment demands, and used lesser quality materials. The three other estimators bid a higher estimate for comparable materials and work.
Description of Work: Complete re-roofing of residence, including removal of old roofing material, repair of wooden roof deck and installation of new roof. Our roof was a complex project (12/12 pitch, 2 stories up, with several valleys, gables, and ridges.)

The work was done in two visits. The first dealt with the major problem where some of the sub-roof was rotten. They replaced a large portion of the plywood and shingles. They also found nail holes that was causing the persistent leak. The second visit examined the entire roof, patched all holes and sealed all joints around vent pipes and such. Each visit was covered in their basic service fee. It seemed to be a fair amount of work, especially the first service. All seems well so far. We've had a lot of rain since then and there have been absolutely no problems. The workers were knowledgeable, polite, and explained all that they did. I will certainly consider this company for any future roof work.
Description of Work: I had a small but persistent leak and could never find the source of it. At another end of my roof I found blackness and moisture on the inside of the sub-roof with some water coming in during rain. This company sent someone out shortly after I called. He assessed the likely problems and arranged for workers to come out. Some of the sub-roofing plywood and shingles were replaced. They also identified numerous nail holes from where scaffolding was nailed to the roof during the original construction.
