Advanced Painting

Went very well. They kept me up to date on the delays caused by the weather and did an outstanding job.

Mr. Box came out to give the estimate. He was professional and knew what he was talking about. We called him to go with his company three days later. He started the next week. He showed up with his guys and introduced them to me. They were very hard working and cared about the work they did. I will use Mr. Box again on my next section of painting.

We bought a house in Stafford County and wanted to have it repainted prior to our moving in. We also wanted to add some crown molding, a backsplash in the kitchen, and mount the TV above the fireplace. We found Steve on Angie's list and after much discussion with him and the other two contractors, we decided to hire Steve. The main reason we decided to hire Steve, is he said that he would be onsite for the entire project and had an experienced crew that could complete the project in the allotted time. We had new carpeting and hardwood floors being installed after his was completed. He knew this up front and we paid for him to come behind the other installers to 'touch up' the walls if needed. (All part of the contract.) Prior to beginning the project, we met Steve at the house to give him a key and go over any final issues. Well, it went downhill from there. You see, he did not show up as scheduled, and then called and stated he was delayed in the previous project, but would make up the time to get back on track. Two days passed with minimal work done in the house. the fourth day of the project, Steve finally showed up with a crew - his lead painter and several new workers he just hired. (We did not know this until we had him come back to at least complete the painting and touch-up when his lead painter laughed at the common mistakes made by the 'day labor' like not painting between the medicine cabinet and back wall, not painting behind the toilet tank, not painting above a door, etc. I ended up taking a week off work to supervise the project as Steve could not be counted on to be onsite and oversee the project as Steve never showed up to the job site except to check on his folks, bring supplies, and then leave. The only time Steve did anything was when he came back to 'fix' the issues so he could get the rest of his money - less the uncompleted tasks. One year later, the crown molding joints are exposed and need to be recaulked and repainted, the backsplash was never done because his tile person could not get to the site within the timeframe and the old paint color is showing through on some walls - which appear to have only one coat instead of the two coats he agreed to in the contract. Would I hire Steve again, NO!!!! He's a nice guy, but when I found out that he 'double booked' me with a 'more important job' and focused on that job with his permanent crew, I was p*****!!! Next time I do something like this, I will write into my contract that the person we're hiring will be the person doing the job or they forfeit 50% of the price. I know it's wishful thinking, but not to be upfront and honest with me and my wife is disrespectful and dishonest. We live in an 50+ retirement community and our neighbors wanted to know how Steve and Advanced Painting performed. I'm sorry to say that we did not provide a very good recommendation. I certainly hope the 'more important job' was worth it.

Steve and the crew came in and did a beautiful job painting our entire home before we moved into it. They were fantastic! The crew was professional and got the job done in the timeframe that they had promised it. We weren't the easiest people to work with as we made some changes halfway through the job. But Steve's crew rolled with it and we are extremely happy with the work that they did.

I used Advanced Painting to paint my whole interior. I called Steven Box and he came out the same day. I told him we needed to start the job in one week. He sent the proposal that evening. We went with his company and they started the job six days later. It took them four days to complete the job. The crew was clean and professional. I recommend them to any homeowner.

Mr. Box was very professional when he came out to do the estimate. He emailed me the proposal the next day as he said. They started the work two weeks later. The men were clean and worked hard. They took care of all my questions. We discussed what was to be done the next day every evening. They were done one day past the set time. That was because I added some work upstairs. I definitely will use this company again.

Mr. Steven Box and his crew came to my house. Steven told his guys what we were doing and introduced the men to me. We were all clear what was supposed to be done when he left. The guys were very courteous and professional. They explained to me what was going to be done the next day. They came in on time and finished the job. It was the best painting job I have had done.

The workers were professional and polite. The work was done in a very timely manner from when I had my initial estimate scheduled, receiving my proposal, and scheduling a start date. The work preformed was done to my expectations, and turned out looking even better than expected. I will definitely be using Advanced Painting again for any future work on my home and exterior paint work I will need done when summer comes around.

From day one they were always professional and showed up on time. The reason for the lower marks was the crew was more interested in leaving each day around 3:30 than walking through and performing quality checks of the work. If I would have not taking time off from work I am convinced many of the areas that needed to be redone would have not been done. On numerous occasions I was told this room was complete, and I then went in and found trim and ceiling areas that was not even painted, and nail pops not fixed. I guess the biggest complaint I have is after they left I contacted them to let them know that one of the towel rods was not remounted correctly and was loose. They responded to my email and told me they would try to have someone out that week to fix. Well they didn't try very hard and here we are now on 12/7/15 and the rod is now very loose, and there is no way to tighten it because of how it was remounted. I guess I will have to find someone else to finish the job. As they have done in previous negative reviews I am sure they may respond saying I should have reached out again to get their attention. I do not think so as they know I was not happy with their performance, and they received full payment so why bother.

All prep work was satisfactory and good paint job. Stucco repair was satisfactory. The only negative aspect of their work was the collateral damage caused by their lack of professionalism; spilled gasoline on the lawn (killing the grass) while fueling the engine for the power washer, damaged roof gutter caused by improper ladder installation during the stucco repair and having to be told to paint certain underside surfaces that were exposed to the weather.

It never went. The company never contacted us about the job after they left.

Arrived punctually every day. These painters were polite and cleaned up after their selves each day. I was very pleased that they helped with the moving of furniture and boxes as my husband has a back problem and cannot do lifting. In sum, I was most impressed with their professionalism and accommodating manner. I'm now thinking of hiring them for outside painting and power washing of house.

Excellent painting job.. Next few days after painting job was completed, I noticed few missing painting spots or fade painting on shutters, I emailed Steven Box, the owner of Advanced Painting, to let him know that there were few missing painting spots on shutters.. Next day, he came and took care of them.. Very pleased with his quick responses..

Steven Box was easy to work and knowledgeable. The price was very reasonable. Had four columns on front porch sanded and painted (after I had removed railings) and also stained the back deck and tops of hand railings with a brush. His crew of two were on time, professional and courteous and the prep work was exceptional, ensuring that none of the surroundings areas were affected by any paint splatters or drippings. We were very pleased with the results and would highly recommend them.

Steve Box and his crew did an outstanding job of keeping my wife and I informed on a daily basis on what the game plan was for the day.Eric and the other workers did an outstanding job of completing each days job.Steve would check on a daily basis with us to make sure everything was going ok. .Mr Box is one of the most responsive and courteous contractors with whom we have worked. The quality of the work is very good, and when we had any concerns (touch ups, etc), they were addressed immediately. Price was also very fair. We will not hesitate to use Advanced Painting in the future.

The communication was ok but not outstanding. I had to reach out to them 2 days before they arrived because they did not do a definite confirmation of the time. We did get in contact and the appointment was confirmed. Painters came on time, however the job completed was not that of a professional painter. The main painter was on the phone for the time the "helper" taped. There are marks that will need to be touched up including fingerprints in the paint. Some of the outlets (we removed the covers prior to them arriving) were covered with paint and will now have to be removed and scrapped in order to take the dried paint off. The trim has paint on it and will have to be touched up and repainted as well. The worst of it all is that they got paint on the carpet! The did attempt to clean it with water, however there is at least 3 darker spots where we could tell paint was cleaned off the carpet. It will not come out and left permanent darker spots. Overall, the job is done, but not up to the standards I would have expected for the price.

- Consulted with us regarding any specific requests - Crew was friendly, efficient, neat, cleaned-up after themselves each day (good with our dog!) - Steven Box (Advanced Painting owner) provided the Angie's List discount and senior discount -- price was already very reasonable. - I provided my own paint (managed to make use of Benjamin Moore 40% discount -- but Advanced Painting also offered to make use of his construction discount if we needed more paint The entire effort went extremely well. I plan to make use of them for interior painting during the winter months. I highly recommend.

Staining a fence sounds easy, but this application was done with spray and brush for the nooks and crannies. The prep work is extensive in ensuring that the fence is properly cleaned, taped off and that none of the surrounding area is affected. AP took great care in power washing with a strong solution to clean the fence. Applying such a dark color uniformly is also a challenge so that it all looks even. The project came out great. There were some challenges with the weather, but AP always called so we knew when to expect them. The painters were on time, professional and courteous. Will recommend and use them again in the future.

Steve and his team are amazing painters they showed up on time and did an excellent job. This is the second time I have used advanced painting and I am very pleased with their work. I would recommend them.

They came on time and did a nice job of fixing many difficult holes in hard to reach areas. There were many problems but it looks like nothing ever happened to the drywall. Great Job!

We had a scheduled appointment for 9:30am that we made about 1 week in advance. At 9:45 after no one had shown up or called us, we called them. After speaking with the owner, it was if we were interrupting him. He said he wasn't going to be able to make it out today and that he was just stretched too thin. He didn't even ask about trying to rescheudle with us. There was a lack of professionalism and punctiality. I know things come up and schedules change, but it is only courteous to call and let someone know that you can't make an appointment.

It was very easy to communicate with Steve from Advanced Painting (both email and telephone). We scheduled a date for the job and his 2 man crew arrived early in the morning and started to work. Work began outside, 1st with the deck repairs and then the power washing of the house. It would take another day for the garage sheet rock work and to paint the deck. Again, early arrival and work began. Clean up after both days work... (nothing left behind) A check by Steve at the end of the job...Very professional. A very nice job and a fair price.
