The Plumbing Doctor was prompt and polite. Only complaint I have is that his estimate and subsequent job order did not contain the main reason I requested his services, which was the leaking pipe. I should have looked at the estimate closer but it ended up costing me an additional $300 than what was quoted.
Description of Work: Replaced outdoor faucets with frost-free faucets. Replaced interior shutoff valves x1. Fixed leaking pipe. Cutoff and sealed unneeded kitchen drain, and water sources.

Description of Work: The person was on time, and thorough. He cleaned the drain in our son's bathroom, and gave us an estimate for some plumbing work. Very pleasant to work with, and left the tub clean when he was finished.

They were nice about coming back when they couldn't fix it right away. They really do honor their 90 day parts and labor warranty. He even scheduled this in a timely manner.

The plumbing repair was handled with skill and competence. I have dealt with The Plumbing Doctor before with excellent results. They have done a good job for me on general plumbing, bath remodeling, etc. All of their personnel are polite, clean and efficient. The sole reason I am marking this review less than an "A" was the disgusting experience with their new pricing policies. What I was most astounded by was the new "price book" that the plumber showed me. He tried to sell me the "Platinum Service" version of the repair at a price of $1,700! The lowest price in the book was $425 for the "band-aid." I know this guy; he has worked in my house before and he explained that this was a new company policy, and he was required to go through this presentation. Maybe the company suddenly thinks its customers have turned into idiots? Since the house was getting cold and night was coming, I agreed to pay the $425, even though I knew that was much too high. After the repair was completed, he called his office and then he came back to tell me that they were going to lower the price to $300. That's fine, but the price book and sales presentation made me feel like they were trying to swindle me. I understand they have also implemented a new policy of a "minimum charge" for a visit which you must pay, even if you do not accept their proposals for products and services. In the past, they have given me free estimates, most of which I accepted, but apparently that policy has been changed, too. If you're thinking you can get a fair price or a free estimate, you might want to look elsewhere, or at least question them very closely about their pricing policies before you agree to let them into your home.
Description of Work: Dr. Larry fixed a leaking copper radiator pipe by cutting away the damaged section and soldering a sleeve in place. The whole thing took about 20 minutes. As usual, he did a good job.

We noticed a small leak at the main water shut off valve and it quickly turned into a steady flow of unwanted water in the basement. We called The Plumbing Doctor at around 7 pm. They offer 24 hour service and we wanted to have this fixed quickly. The answered the phone and stated that Dr. Manning was on another call but that he could service us next. About an hour later we receive a courtesy call letting us know they were on their way. Shortly thereafter a knock on the door and a request to go straight to the problem. After an initial inspection it was determined that the valve was faulty. We were provided a no pressure option of two solutions. We decided to have the valve replaced to ensure we had a new valve so we could begin to finish our basement and not worry about unwanted water issues. He got quickly to work and finished quicker than expected. He was thorough and inspected his work after the water was turned on to ensure there were no issues. The actual cost was less than what he estimated and we gladly paid for services rendered. He also explained the warranty on the work and was on his way. We are extremely pleased by the professionalism, he was neat and focused. We would call The Plumbing Doctor without hesitation for any future plumbing needs.
Description of Work: The valve to the main water main in the basement was leaking and needed service. WE needed after hours (24 hour) service and called two companies. One went to voicemail and the other we selected for service.

A toilet cracked and its matching blue sink looked dowdy, so we decided to replace them. Plumbing Doctor was great - found a nicely designed pedestal sink and a good toilet, and put them in without a hitch. Did all the work within the original cost of the estimate, no surprises at all.

Plumbing Dr. was helpful and professional from the moment I placed the phone call. Dr. Larry came on Friday evening (I placed the call late on Friday afternoon when I knew I was in trouble), and he started right to work and tried to fix the faucet with parts he had on his truck, but did not have the correct parts for the older model of our Moen faucet. At that point, we were presented with the option of waiting until the part could be ordered (and spending a weekend, with guests arriving, without a working kitchen faucet) or getting an entirely new faucet. We opted for the new faucet, since ours was at least 20 years old and we figured it made sense to replace it. We were given the cost of the new faucet beforehand, and we had an idea of possible labor costs( but not incidentals or time the repair would take) or fuel surcharge. We were shown one type of faucet which would fit our set-up, and I did have reservations about that since apparently, the faucet manufacturer only sells to plumbers and parts cannot be that easy to find, but the quality seemed good and we decided to go with it. Dr. Larry appears to have done an excellent job and spent two hours at our house, one hour trying to repair the old faucet and troubleshooting, the next hour installing the new faucet. He was clean about his work and pleasant, even though it had clearly been a long day for him. We knew to expect extra charges because he couldn't come until after hours, and the Plumbing Dr. receptionist had given us the hourly overtime rates. Still, I have to admit that the cost of this new faucet and its installation was staggering, even for overtime, and of course part of the charge was for the first hour of troubleshooting. Our recommendation would be to count on Plumbing Dr. for prompt, reliable, and friendly service but know up front that their charges are steep, and for overtime service, questionably high. The question is, how much are you willing/able to pay for overtime service in a tight situation? We have used Plumbing Dr. in the past for regular service and would use them again, but with reservation. We expect to pay a decent price for service, and more on a weekend, and certainly did not expect a "cheap" deal. We did not get the Angie's List $25 discount but I guess that doesn't apply to overtime. I would like to add that we have never had such prompt service from a plumber, during or after regular working hours, and we were grateful for that!
Description of Work: I called Plumbing Dr. because I had a leaking kitchen faucet, couldn't fix it myself and ran into some problems, so called Plumbing Dr. after checking them out on Angie's List (I had used them at least once before during regular hours). The plumber did not have the needed parts on his truck and it was Friday night, so after an hour of trouble-shooting, we decided to go with the option of a new faucet since we had guests arriving and needed a working faucet.

this is the first time I've used this contractor that I found on Angieslist. I contacted them on Tuesday and they were able to come out the following day. They gave me a four hour window and said they would call ahead before coming out. They did but I was in a meeting so they left four voicemails. When I called back they said they were unsure whether they could reschedule the same day but in the end managed to do so. The job was done well and the results are good. The plumber had to cut my drywall in order to replace the outdoor faucet but called me before doing so to ask for permission and called again to tell me that he would have to move and disconnect my computer. Job was done in reasonable time and at what I found to be a reasonable price. They followed up with an e-mail to thank me for the business and ask if the job was to my satisfaction. All in all a very good experience and I would use this contractor again

They didn’t find the leak. They gave me an appraisal to help fix the bathroom. There was a delay in the time that they got their workman to give me an estimate. It was a month and half delay and was unacceptable. The actually plumber was a nice guy so I would call them again. The problem is that everyone wants to renovate my bathroom and I just want to fix it. They wanted to remodel and I can’t afford that. They had a delay because they were not getting the tile parts. I find their hourly rate high probably because everything is too expensive. I have used them more than once. The plumber was good but the tile guy was not.

Everything went well; very professional and courteous.
Description of Work: We had a kitchen drain that was clogged; this drain also runs into 1st for BR drain and butler's pantry sink drain; we had also used them before the previous year the day before Thanksgiving when onion skins were inadvertently put in disposal--in this case Plumbling Dr arrived at 11Pm and worked for two hours clearing drains to the street. In this case, the drains backed up in the evening, and the Plumbing Dr arrived early the next morning and professionally cleared the drains. Then as a courtesy service and also for their records for subsequent calls, the technician did a comprehensive evaluation of the entire household plumbing system--toilets, faucets, pipes, water heater, etc. This inspection graded condition as either poor, fair or good in the cases where there were problems, made recommendations. Noted that flapper valves needed to be replaced on all toilets--which I was able to do myself. There was no push to do the work. He noted in the case of the water heater.

After discovering standing water in my front lawn I gave The Plumbing Dr a call to help determine its origin. Dr. Bill showed up the next day and quickly determined the culprit to be the water supply line between my meter and the house. He ran through some standard options for repairing the leak, all of which raised concerns for my recently installed zoysia lawn and irrigation system. Bill listened to my concerns and quickly surmised a new plan that would bore underneath my lawn and irrigation system. This plan was a little more expensive but the only acceptable one to me given the circumstances. We shook hands and the contract was signed. Within a few days they had the required permit and were on site working. Throughout the repair the crew took every effort to minimize the impact of the repair on our family and home. The sod was cut neatly and placed on a tarp, as was the not-so-small hill of soil created from the digging. The shrubbery was removed carefully to prevent damage to the roots. The crew always wore protective covers on their shoes when entering the house to work. When the leaking pipe was replaced and the county inspection signed off, everything was put back in its place so well that even I had hard time finding evidence that they'd ever been there. The Plumbing Dr might not be the lowest priced plumbing contractor, but you'd be hard pressed to find one that provides a better quality of workmanship and customer service.

We were very satisfied with the outcome, and the professional manner in which the whole experience was handled.
Description of Work: I called Plumbing Dr when my normal plumber was closed for the weekend. They were able to send someone out to check a water heater that was not heating properly at a property I manage. They diagnosed the problem as just needing a reset button simply reset. Sounds like something we could have done ourselves, but unfortunitely we had no ides this button even existed. The button was on the back of the water heater behind a panel and insulation which had to be removed to even see. Since it was considered an emergency service, the price was resonable with the discount they offered through Angie's List.

I filled out the on-line service request form which was a good idea, so that the plumber had an exact description of the work needed in my own words. I was contacted promptly and appreciate their flexibility in picking a mutually convenient time. Larry called in advance of his arrival and was 15 minutes early. He slipped on disposal booties over his work shoes when he arrived -- much appreciated because we just had new light color carpeting installed. Larry was very professional and knowledgeable, and give me good advice on several projects that I was tentative about. He worked quickly and carefully, and everything was done to my satisfaction. Prices are a little high and the mark-up on parts is also a little high but no higher than others in this area. I used an Angie's List coupon which helped, and which was readily accepted. I would recommend The Plumbing Dr and use their services again.

We moved into a rental duplex and found that the the whole in the floor of the basement was actually a direct hole into the sewer line! Disgusting and dangerous. Our landlord lived in Guatemala so we were on our own to figure out what needed to be done. The Plumbing Dr. was seriously great. The owner came out to give an estimate and did the best job of explaining the options for fixing it. The other company just gave an estimate to close up the sewer line. The Plumbing Dr. recommended that we install a floor drain since there was none and it was obvious that the reason the hole had been made in the first place was to drain water. The technician who came out worked harder than any man I have ever seen in my entire life! He had to manually hammer out a section of the floor, cut the sewer section that needed to be repaired and then replace it and repour cement to close it back up. I think it took him like 6 hours. It was jaw dropping. And then he cleaned it all up and was gone just like that. I immediately put their magnet on my fridge. I never needed to call them again, but I wouldn't have even bothered comparison shopping. In the end the basement did get a fair amount of water and every time there was a storm we would just run down and open the drain for a day or two. I have no idea what we would have done if there hadn't been one...probably took a sledge hammer and put a hole into the main sewer line so it could drain.
Description of Work: They repaired the main sewer line inside the house. There was a hole in the floor of the basement directly into the sewer line - they dug out the floor, removed a section of the sewer and replaced it with a PVC section. They also installed a floor drain and repaired the floor back to normal.
