The Home Doctor

The company I bought it from clearly outsourced the work to a crew who contracts with many service providers and communication between the two was, at best, horrible. They were scheduled to come between 8-10 and when I called the company at 10:15 they said they were just leaving Gaithersburg and would be at my DC house by 11. An 8-10 appointment was never going to happen. Fail #1. When the service provider arrived, they were flummoxed because there was no where to park directly in front of my DC rowhouse to blow the insulation into my attic. No one told me I needed to plan for that. Blowing attic insulation isn't a regular event for most homeowners - I had no idea what was involved. Fail #2. Luckily, a car moved and there was enough space to park their truck on the street. Frankly, I don't even notice much difference in the part of the house that was insulated.

It was good. They were very quick. They arrived about 8:30 and were finished around 10:00. They were very efficient and they cleaned up after themselves.

Please see my notes above, they did a GREAT job! I will call on them again and tell my friends and neighbors to use them. They are good.

the work itself was done well and quickly. only outstanding issue is that i pointed out to them before they did the work that they were not on the list of approved Smart Energy Savers program contractors for BGE. unless they applied for inclusion in this list, i could not get the 50% rebate from the state of Maryland through BGE. they said they applied. now we will see if i can get the rebate.

This was a Big Deal $99 for $500 worth of attic insulation. They were very quick getting back to me and setting up a time to come by for the full job estimate -- among the fastest replies I've seen on Angies List. When we had to reschedule they were also very quick setting up a new time. After the estimate, they were very fast to schedule and complete the work. In and out in a couple of hours, and the installers were courteous and efficient.

The service provider has been continuously contacting me, which felt like he was harassing me to do the service. He states that I cannot cancel the order as its more than 3 days since purchase.My service was more than the deal originally and I have an initial quote. He is threatening to up charge for the work since the deal was canceled and he isn't adding the credit anymore. The deal has already been refunded. I am requesting that a member of Angie's list reach out to the provider and get him to stop. I will not be using his services in the future. I have asked the provider for proof of insurance yhree times and he gave me a copy of insurance quote twice, not an actual copy of his proof of insurance. I do not believe he has adequate insurance and due to his recent behavior I canceled my order and any additional services from the provider.

Rep was on time, very professional and clear in his assessment of the service I'd requested.

The company promptly scheduled the meeting to estimate the work. However, when they came to the house, they indicated that the type of old, cape cod house that I had (with no attic that a person could get into) would not be suitable for the type of insulation that they could do at a reasonable price. I appreciated their honesty and their professional manner.

They did contact me via Email within 2 or 3 days of purchase. They verified via Email that they would be at my home for service on 01/07/2015. The gentleman called and advised that he would be approximately 15 minutes late due to the weather that we had on the previous day (snow). When he arrived he stated that he needed to measure my attic. I was fine with this, however, I was a little suprised that he did his measuing from outside of my home. My attic is only accessable by ladder and he did not bring one. He advised that when they come out to actually do the insulation, that they would bring one at that time. They also advised that they would be blowing the insulation around my recessed lighting, fan and eves. I was a little suspicous only because we had gotten snow the day before and there were no foot prints that went around my house, instead, only on one side. He finally came in and flashed a piece of paper where he had written $1721.00 ($2221.00 before my $500.00 Big Deal purchase). He did not offer me a copy of this estimate. He then stated that because we had a catherdral ceiling, which is gabled to the rear of the house, and because of the angle, they would only be able to insulate the flat portion of that area. Again, I was concerned about the measurement or lack there of. When I asked for a copy of the brochure he stated that he only had the one and didn't offer it to me. I have decided to cancel this Big Deal offer and request a refund. The reason I feel like this was dishonest advsertising was due to the wording, and had it been more specific and advised how much $500.00 worth of insulation gives you, I probably wouldn't have purchased it. The gentleman was nice.

The contractor contacted me to setup an appointment to view the work that needed to done. When the inspection was complete, he emailed me a quote and also the Angie's member price for the job. I'm still in the middle of making a decision.

Windows were installed in a timely manner and I was very impressed with the high quality of the windows. They fit perfectly, look great and are a fantastic addition to the renovation project!! Price was outstanding and a real value for my renovation dollar!!

He gave us a lot of options, with a good product quality selection, and was patient and helpful in suggesting design ideas, and worked with us to keep choices within a budget. Covered windows, doors and gutter system. Also responsive during a Christmas holiday period. Am looking forward to a smooth install, and will definitely recommend him.

The advertisement was a little misleading to me.

Provider had to measure windows, custom order them, then return and install them. One of the windows was incorrectly identified so the wrong window was delivered but not installed. The provider made the correction, ordered and installed the correct one without incident. There was an additional charge to my account for grilles which I did not order or approve but had been incorporated in the new windows. So I have window with grilles. Because of the initial misunderstanding, the provider agreed to not charge me for the grilles. I am still waiting, though, for one last screen which was not delivered with the window. Screens are included in the price. Grilles are not. NOTE: Consider metal screens if you have squirrels who can get to the windows. The will destroy the screens. I was not present when the windows were measured or when the first ones were installed. I suggest that someone be present who can go over the process (including billing, installation, use and care, and warranty information) so that mishaps can be avoided. The installers were professional, did the work without delay, cleaned up and took away all debris from the site. I have not had my other windows done only because I need to adjust to the new look. I previously had wooden frames and metal hardware. I haven't decided whether I like the look although the ease in cleaning is a plus.

I did not have a good experience with the Home Doctor. There were many issues: 1. The Installer who came out in advance did not have a record of the additional work to be performed to replace the arcs above the windows. There seemed to be a miscommunication. It was later resolved. In addition, the color I originally chose was not available. I was able to pick another similar color. 2. I tried several times to schedule the installation. No one ever picked up the phone or returned my messages. I finally called another number and was finally put through to someone to schedule the appointment. 3. The installers were late. We had to leave at a set time and while they were able to complete the work, it ended up being a rush. 4. One week after the install I received a threatening message that I had not paid my outstanding balance and they were going to turn the amount over to collections. I told them I never received an invoice and had no idea how much I still owed. After they provided the outstanding balance I paid them right away. There was a much more polite and professional way to handle that situation. 5. I noticed that part of the arc they installed was not completely secured to the house. I also found a business card left on my patio table that after several days of rain was now stuck to the table and cannot easily be removed. Finally they left a sign in my yard and never came by to pick it up. I called them over a week ago regarding these items and was told someone would come by or call me to set up a time to come by. I still have not heard from them. While the price for this service was good and I think the windows were installed well I would not use this company again because of the lack of customer service and experience.

Excellent service! House looks great. A 30 year home looks brand new. Never any pressure and always professional. Team was on time always and explained every detail. Great company to go with.

The new roof looks great. The process went smoothly and they were easy to deal with from the initial quote through finishing the roof. All my questions were answered quickly. The roofers were here on time in the morning and completed the work quickly. They were able to complete it in one day.

I had three quotes for windows and when I saw a window deal on Angie's list I jumped on it cause it was cheaper and I trusted the reviews. My experience is detailed below. This company was awesome. I worked with Phil and he was great. We bought this house and have had a problem with the upstairs window since we moved in. Water was coming in through the wall and of course I though it was the upstairs and down stairs window. SO what did I do? Bought new windows. In retrospect not the smartest thing because when the installer -Robbie- came in with the new windows he said, " hey, do you know the wood was rotten under the windows." So we really examined it and discovered the house builder had covered up all the weep holes for all the windows. So water was basically flowing under the siding. How fun! Thanks!!!! So I could have replaced the windows, but that would have taken the same duration of time that installing these windows and would have been months. Plus the installer said the windows were fine just the weep holes and any damage needed to be exposed. They came out and removed all the siding for the house repaired and any rotted wood, new underlayment. THey even put in insulation where the builder had left it out around the windows. To top it off they did a beautiful white cap around the rear door and all the windows. The guys even cleaned up after themselves. Man, I had such a great experience, I tipped the crew 20 bucks for beer afterward. The only wish I had was for them to have door the basement door in the rear so it would have matched. You live and learn. It was all a great price. They did the repair work at cost. I tell you this, if you don't call this company- well you should call them. I had a great experience.

Installers did an excellent job and cleaned up the work area afterwards.

The two workers displayed great professionalism. They knew what they were doing and the three windows look great.

We recently had a residing job done on our home by ?The Home Doctor Co.?. Phillip Gehrig was the person from ?Home Doctor? that was our main contact for all aspects of the work. I am 65 years old and have dealt with numerous contractors over the years and wish they would all have been as easy to deal with as Phillip was. Phillip and the siding crew did an excellent job and my wife and I are very happy with the finished product. ?The Home Doctors? cost for the job was very reasonable and I would not hesitate to recommend them for a siding job.

The sales representative was honest and up-front. He surveyed our existing windows and did not try to sell us windows we didn't need. After showing the products, he made several recommendations that were spot-on. Also, it was nice to see him return during the installation process to check on the progress. As for the installers, they were top-notch. They did an excellent job on the trim work (nice miter joints), and fixing problems they encountered during the installation of the windows and patio doors. Additionally, they were very trustworthy and I wasn't concerned leaving the house for a few hours during the installation. I have already recommended The Home Doctor to several of my friends. After having estimates by several other companies, The Home Doctor was definitely the better value for the product, but more importantly, the better quality.

Originally hired them in early February after hearing a local radio commercial, also knew of them threw the Washington Capitals. The young man that came out initially was extremely knowledgeable, and seemed to have a sense of what we were looking for. After careful consideration we decided to mover forward with the project. We decided to make a few changes after final measurement, which was not an issue at all. The installation was cleaner than we could have ever imagined. We replaced our roof, 7 windows, and a sliding glass door. We can already tell a HUGE difference in the noise reduction. We are excited to see the difference with our energy bills. The roof & windows give our home a complete lift. We have already recommended to a co-worker, who has also purchased their services. Great all around company, who puts the cutover first. You do not see that much anymore.

The process went better than we imagined it would go. From the initial consultation to the finish product, we could not be more pleased with The Home Doctor. We have heard of them before and ran into them at a local show. We had several quotes on the project before selecting a contractor. They by far gave us our best bang for our buck. Our representative was top notch, he did everything we asks of him and more. The day of installation he was here to make sure all questions were answered. The quality of the products are off the chart! My wife is in love with the new windows. We will be using them again this summer.
