Description of Work: The digital controller on my oven failed. The tech examined the oven and confirmed that the problem was isolated to the digital controller. Within 15 minutes from showing up he had ordered a replacement and we were discussing the details of his return visit. On the second visit he showed me the new part, explained what he was doing at each step and ran a test on the oven to confirm all basic functions were working. He even threw in a free replacement light bulb since the one I had was out. - Did he have to do that? No. - Was a big deal from the stand point of customer service? Yes!

He was very professional. He was the owner and was able to fix my problem within 48 hours. He would have fixed it on the spot, but he had to order a part.
Description of Work: I have a stand alone ice maker that just started leaking a lot of water. I called the owner and he came out the same day and diagnosed the problem. He came back on a Sunday with the parts and said that there was a defective valve and replaced it.

My coin-operated washer from Sears had not been working for about two weeks. I had called another listed appliance repair place on Angie's list, and they accidently sent a technician who did not know how to work on coin-operated machines. They had given us a 3 hour window and he arrived at the last minute. I had also called Sears, who failed to tell me they needed a key to open the coin-operated machine after also rescheduling the first appt I had with them. The technician took one look and said he couldn't do anything. The this technician also showed up at the last minute of a 4 hour window that they gave us. My tenants were understandably frustrated. I called Pius on Sept 22, 2011. He answered directly, and asked what three hour window I wanted. He told me specifically and immediately that I would need a service key to open the electrical part of the coin-operated washer. He came at the last minute of the three hour window. He took one look at the machine and diagnosed the problem within a couple of seconds (the original latch had broken and the washer sensed the locking mechanism was off so it had stopped working.) He told me it would cost $175 (check or cash). I agreed and he had it fixed in 20 minutes by replacing the latch and gave me a 1 year warrenty for this repair.
Description of Work: Washer stopped working after filling part way with water.

I needed someone to come out quickly because I had taken a day off work to meet a scheduled plumber, who was not able to completely solve the problem with my washer. I called another appliance company about 10 am and left a message then called Peaco, which is in my neighborhood. Someone answered the phone, asked questions about what was going on. He asked which three-hour window I would like, and I said the soonest available, so he said between noon and 3 pm. Technician called about 1:15 pm to say he was on his way, as requested. Arrived about 1:30 pm with the part in hand. Gave me estimate, completed repair in about 30 minutes. My only complaint is the lack of detail in the receipt, and he seemed reluctant to provide an invoice before I wrote a check. Receipt shows service charge of $95, but no other breakdown of parts and labor for total of $225.
Description of Work: Cold water was trickling into washington machine. Replaced valve assembly. Works fine so far.

I think the actual repair was done well. But the technician's timing was not good. His attitude to me the homeowner was quite disdainfu.l. He dropped a 20 dollar bill on my laundry room floor on the first visit and said that it was his tip from his previous job where they were very delighted with his work. On the second visit, he said he couldn't come any sooner because of traffic on the beltway. (My home is within 5 miles of his office and there is no need to use the beltway if appointments are scheduled with that in mind. I would not want this technician in my home again due to his disrespect to me and his thinly veiled threats.
Description of Work: I called PEACO on Monday morning, 6/14/11. The repairman agreed to come to my home that evening between 5:00 and 8:00. When he had not arrived at 8:45, I called and asked if he was still coming. He said he had been doing a "big install" and would be coming as soon as he finished, but seemed unwilling to name a time. I told him that I could not wait later than 9:30 as I have an early work time in the morning. He said he would come and did at 9:15. He came unprepared to do the actual repair although I had told him on the phone what the diagnosed problem was. He then said he would come between 5:00 and 8:oo the following day. He did come the following day about 7:00 pm. He was prepared and did a good job on the repair but made it clear to me that he did not want me in the room while he worked and that he could not have me bringing in a vacuum to clean under the machine. As of 5 days later, the machine is working well again.

He told me what was wrong with my dryer. Overall, I now know what the problem is. I had nothing wrong with the dryer, the vents need cleaning and he reffered me to someone else.
Description of Work: person was late by 45 minutes, (with a 3 hour window) waited at home from 12:00 to 3:00 to have him show up at 3:45pm, also called me twice, once to tell me he's on his way, 1 hour prior to his arrival , and the other time he could not find my townhouse. At the end of the visit, I offered to pay with my credit card and they don't take credit cards, only cash and or check. Should have been told prior to the appointement. I had to walk to the nearest bank machine and pay in cash.

Our refrigerator was dying. Called two other Angie's List repair folks on Friday night and got answering machines. Called Peaco third and Pius answered the phone (it was about 8:30PM). Explained the problem and gave him the model number. He was out at 8:45 Saturday morning with a huge smile and a great attitude. It took him about five minutes to diagnose the problem and about 30 minutes to fix it. Happily gave the 5% Angie's List discount and warranted the parts and labor for one year. Peaco has been in Falls Church for many years....at least back to the 80's. Pius worked there in the 80's and bought the business in 1990. We will definitely call Peaco again if any appliance problems.
Description of Work: Quickly diagnosed problem and replaced an overload relay assembly in our refrigerator.

I like that they come right away. If they can help they will and if they can't they tell you right away. In the summer the dishwasher could be fixed and in the winter it couldn't. They are reasonable that way and they don't try to keep taking your money. Their prices aren't cheap but they are reasonable. They are very professional. I keep them on speed dial.

I worked with Pious who punctual, professional and friendly. He came to our home to see what needed to be repaired and then returned another day with the new microwave handle and quickly reattached it. I was happy that Peaco was willing to have Pious work on weekends so I wouldn't miss work.
Description of Work: Replaced old microwave handle, which broke off, with new one that Peaco Appliance ordered for me. Keep in mind the price they charged includes the hefty price Samsung charged for a replacement handle.

I had a dishwasher that appered to have no power. Pius dismantled the controls and restored power. Dishwasher now works fine and no parts were required. While there, I asked Pius to look at two built-in microwave ovens, whose digital displays no longer worked. He examined the ovens, analyzed the problem and advised that it would not be cost effective to repair the ovens. He arrived on time, was polite, neat and worked quickly.

I called him on a Saturday morning, but received his voicemail. He immediately called me back, diagnosed the problem over the phone, quoted a price and said he could see me later that day. He gave me a 3 hour window and showed up just after the three hours (he got lost in my area) - that was the only reason I rated him a B on punctuality. He was very friendly and professional. When it was time to pay, I thought he had quoted me $275. He corrected me and said, "No. It's $225. $275 would be too much." I will certainly use him again.

I was pleased from the start. Some of the contents of my freezer were thawing and I needed a repair quickly. I called shortly before noon and was told they could send someone between 2:00 and 5:00 that very afternoon. (This was in stark contrast to a previous company I called who had told me they could come in 5 days.) The technician arrived at 4:30, quickly diagnosed the problem, had the equipment on the truck, and fixed everything in less than 45 minutes. He was very professional and tidy. I will certainly use this company again the next time I need an appliance repair.

Late on a Sunday night, the washing machine decided to keeeeeep filling with water, over-flowing into the basement. Called Peaco early on Monday morning. He asked good questions about the problem and explained his service call fee. He said he would be here before noon. He was here by 10:15, diagnosed the problem within 10 minutes (a stuck valve), had the part in his truck and was done in 30 minutes. He encouraged me to test the washer while he was still here and made sure I understood the warranty on his work. He also answered some general questions about what I could expect from this brand of washing machine in terms of reliability and durability. Short, sweet, and to the point in both his work and his manner. Loved it!

They came out the day after I called.Pius came and found a hole in the bottom of the dishwasher. He patched it immediately and after I waited a day for it to cure the dishwasher works good as new. The only less-than-wonderful thing about this was that he was scheduled to come between 6-9 AM and did not get to my house until 10. We have very bad traffic. He did call a couple times to let me know he would be late and give me an idea of when he would arrive.

The gentlemen did a thorough and careful job after clearly explaining to me my options and the possible results. Along the way he kept me up to date on the progress and estimated time for completion. He further clearly explainedthe workings of the unit. I learned a lot, made a new friend and feel much more comfortable with caring for my appliance. I will definitely call him the next time I need appliance repair. Overall it was a very pleasant experience at a very fair price. Thank you!

This was one of the only companies available to do a last minute call on a refrigerator repair however the service was terrible. The guy who answered the phone was extremely rude and made me feel like I was stupid. He also quoted us a price that was twice 25% higher than another company would have charged for the same thing AND the diagnosis was completely wrong. We called another company b/c his price was so high and we didn't trust him. It turned out the other company was able to diagnose it correctly over the phone and they charged us half of what he estimated.
Description of Work: Peaco only diagnosed the problem with our refrigerator over the phone. He did not actually perform any service or see the refrigerator.

Not only did he fix the immediate problem, but he improvised on another issue. When we called him to say we would mail him a small took he had forgotten to take with him, he said, "Your husband seems interested in these things. Why doesn't he just keep it?"
Description of Work: Dishwasher had stopped mid-cycle. My husband, who is a good diagnostician, was stumped. Pius was able to determine that, even though we had replaced a fuse not too long ago, that was indeed the problem. Pius had the right fuse with him.

He was prompt (called when he was a few minutes from his earliest estimate), courteous, professional (explained what he was doing and why), and cleaned up afterwards. Now, a day later, our frig is working perfectly.
Description of Work: Our refrigerator was frosting over and the meat keeper froze everything including fresh veggies. Peaco gave a firm quote over the phone based on a series of questions and then came on Saturday evening. He dissembled the frig, defrosted the coils and installed replacement defrost heater coils all in an hour.
