I called a number of appliance repair places and Peaco was the only one who could come out that day. They let me pick a two hour window, and came very early in that window. I was very impressed that the repairman called me on his way to let me know he was coming, and he did a great job fixing the refrigerator in a prompt fashion. It was a bit expensive, but better than replacing the appliance completely! I would definitely use them again. Please tell them that you are an Angie's List customer, they will honor the discount.
Description of Work: Peaco Appliance came out and fixed the computer (!) on my LG Refrigerator, which had stopped working, overnight.

My refrigerator made a loud buzzing noise and the freezer was up to 50 degrees. Called Pius about 11AM on a Sunday and he was here by 1PM. He immediately diagnosed problem of ice build up which could have been caused by door being left open or faulty compressor. He recommended we consider option one which meant, turning off fridge for 24 hours to let blockage melt ($0) rather than option two which meant a new compressor ($495). He was right. Then he called the next day to ensure all was OK and the problem was just carelessness and not a faulty compressor. This is the third time I've used Peaco. Pius always comes immediately and solves the problem.
Description of Work: Diagnosed ice blockage in freezer causing loud noise and warming of freezer.

Pius was our repair technician and he was great. He contacted me in minutes after my initial email request. He was able to make a convenient appointment later that day for me when I was able to be home from the office. After he went over the problems he gave me options to repair or to replace the microwave. We chose to replace the unit after looking online at reviews of the exiting microwave realizing it was poorly rated and had a history of problematic issues. Pius provided us replacement options and set up an appointment again that was convenient for my office hours. He came over on a Saturday of Super Bowl weekend to replace the unit since I was having people over on Sunday and would need a microwave. Pius even switched out the 220V to an 110V for me. Everything was excellent; he was efficient and went over all the repairs and installation procedures throughout the process. I will call Pius for any appliance related issues in the future for sure. The price was fair and he was more than accommodating to my schedule.
Description of Work: We needed an initial diagnostic of an existing over-the-range microwave that stopped working. After the diagnostic, it was determined that a new circuit board, fuse and door latch all needed to be replaced. We knew that this may have been an issue when we checked the unit out ourselves but did not have the expertise to do anything about it. Also, our microwave was an expensive unit from a custom install by the previous owners and used a 220V outlet. Cost of replacement parts and repairs would end up being as much as a new unit that utilized an 110V outlet.

My microwave was not heating and I called Peaco to schedule a time to bring it in. He diagnosed it as having a bad magnetron. It took him about an hour to dig the old part out of the microwave and replace it. He put it all back together, tested it, and I was on my way.

After checking Angies List and reading ONE bad review I should have listened to my gut. But I called anyway. While telling the man my needs he seemed to be irritated at me. The more he talked the more I wanted to end the conversation. Long story short. I didn't end the conversation. He came over as promised. He still seemed irritated. He was irritated that some piece of furniture needed to be move to get access to the vent. I offered to help or do it completely. After looking at the back of dryer he went to his truck came back and said he didn't have the right parts. He asked me if I had any duct tape. I said no. He said: I'll come back another day when I have the right part and fix it, but I will NOT move the furniture again. I will not charge you extra for that trip. We'll just leave it at today cost of $95. Or something like that. Then he said I have a idea. Took his electric screwdriver, went behind the dryer, made the 'sound' a few times and said: All fixed. I said: can I see? I looked, nothing had changed. Now I just wanted him out. All he did was push it back in place. He said the cost was 95 service charge + 55 for repair. I paid him even the extra just to get him out! Lesson learned. Trust your instincts! I hope he doesn't work for them anymore!

The provider responded (in person) to our repair call within ten hours. He was able to quickly diagnose the low Freon/lrefrigerant leak, and provide us with options to either repair the existing GE unit (with over 14 years of use) or replace with a new unit that could be installed without removing door frames or windows. Based on our requirements, he shopped for and acquired the new unit using his trade discount. He picked up the unit in his truck, installed the new unit and connected the water supply. He conducted the manufacturers directed start-up instructions (very important to let the refrigerant/lubricant settle after transporting the unit). He removed and disposed of the old unit. The provider checked in with us at 4 hours, 8 hours, and 24 hours after installation to verify our satisfaction. We have used this provider for all of our appliance repairs for the last seventeen years. He has always been prompt, responsive, highly professional and exercises the best practices of appliance repair trade-craft. He has been honest and trustworthy, so we feel comforted that we do not have to lock up the silver and valuables. I sometimes wonder how or when he takes vacations because when I call I always reach him on his cell phone or, rarely, leave a message and have it promptly returned within minutes. I recommend Peaco Appliance Service highly. And I do not dispense recommendations frequently because I believe that good service, honesty, integrity and responsiveness are basic expectations of a repair service transaction. Peaco has earned my recommendation by consistently exceeding my expectation over an extended period of time. Thank you.

I employed Pius a couple years back (he was recommended to me), and since he did such a great job quickly fixing the refrigerator at a good price, of course, I called him again. In March, Pius diagnosed the problem with my non-working five year old stove and replaced the starter. He came out in the evening (didn't make me wait days for an appointment; he was right there) After diagnosing the problem, he ordered the part and came back a few days later to install it. Then, in April, a bit of water seemed to have leaked from my washing machine. Pius came right out to take a look at it, and while he was here, I asked him to double check a fix to my dryer that SEARS supposedly made (see my previous very negative reviews regarding Sears). My dryer had been making the room it occupies VERY hot and causing a lot of lint-like dust. I suspected that SEARS failed to properly hook up the vent when they made a warranty repair. The stackable washer-dryer is housed in a tight alcove, nearly impossible to move (at least for me), so I had not been able to confirm my suspicion that SEARS improperly vented it. Pius took care of the problem right away-- he moved the stacked units, and we saw that SEARS hadn't bothered to hook up the vent to the dryer at all! The silver vent tube was hanging from the ceiling, not at all attached to the back of the dryer, and there wasn't even a clamp in sight, so we could see that SEARS had never hooked it up when they "repaired" it. Pius went right down to his truck, fished out a clamp and took care of the problem. That's another thing I like about this guy-- he fixes things he's not even there to fix! I also now know that his customers can purchase appliances through him, and that's what I plan to do for any future appliance purchases-- when you find someone who's trustworthy, you go back to them
Description of Work: Pius of Peako's Appliance has performed work for me twice recently. In March, he repaired my stove's starter; in April, he completed the job that SEARS failed to complete on my dryer (which was under warranty when SEARS "repaired" it)

Easy. There was no heat in my 15-year-old dryer. I called Peaco who was willing to come out the same day. Pius arrived. He listened to the sound of the dryer, not unlike a dryer-whisperer might do. He diagnosed a defective valve coil kit, replaced it and had it working like new in less than an hour. Pius assured me that I have another 11 good years with this dryer!

Pius came within two hours of our call on a Sunday morning. He quickly analyzed the problem and explained that a repair job would cost almost the same as a new dishwasher. We agreed that a new one would be best. He called us the next day with some options for replacement, and after we checked them out online, we discovered that his recommendations were excellent choices at very good prices. He ordered the machine we selected and installed it a week later. He also spent time explaining the new machine and cleaned everything before he left. We were very satisfied with everything that Pius did.

My washing machine could not go through the rinse cycle. It would stop and hum. On this machine, and many others the only option is a cold water rinse. The only water that worked for my machine was hot water. During the repair service visit, unfortunately the cold water supply was not checked. I was told my 6 year old machine would cost too much to fix so I bought an LG from this provider. I thought he said the cost of the $95 repair visit would be applied to the price of the machine. This was not the case when I was ready to pay the bill, so I reluctantly split the differnce. The "new" washing machine that he brought was on his truck on its side, and the box was already undone, and I noticed later that there were scratches on the side of the machine...I don't think it was brand new. When it was installed, it did not work...(remember the cold water supply problem). I was told the machine was delivered and now it was my problem to work it out with the LG manufacturer. Another day dedicated to scheduling LG repairman to come out. As it turns out the ?NEW? machine had more than cold water problems...the sensor didn't work either, so after 2 hours of the LG repairman?s efforts, he agreed the machine could not be fixed, so LG said I was entitled to a new machine. This provider called several times while the LG repairman was at my home. He said wanted to be at my house when the LG repairman was here...not sure why?? This provider did replace the washing machine he had sold me, and replaced it with a another LG machine from Hhgregg and arranged for it to be delivered. Again, it didn?t work at first but my plumber was already here since I was sure it was the cold water line issue and sure enough the hose to the washing machine was stopped up! That was the problem from the beginning! 4 days waiting for repairs/deliveries, cost of a new machine, which I am convinced was not necessary, and I am doing laundry again. This was not a good experience for me.

Pius is great - I called him on a Sunday night of a three-day weekend just after a blizzard and he came to my house to take a look at my fridge. Who can live without their washing machine? I called and Pius came the next day. It went very well. The technician arrived exactly when scheduled and quickly diagnosed the problem. He had the correct replacement part in his vehicle and repaired the unit in about an hour. Not only did he repair the dryer, but he pointed out a potential fire hazard in the lint buildup inside the dryer mechanical area - not a place one usually checks for lint removal. This is the fourth or fifth time we have used this technician, over the past five years, and we have been completely satisfied every time. Essentially a one-man operation, this technician's knowledge, experience, and professionalism are outstanding. .

Wow! The last functioning large burner on our ancient (60 years old) cooktop stopped working. We called at 4 pm on the Saturday between Christmas and New Year's Day, and a technician was at our home within 20 minutes. He quickly diagnosed the problem and fixed both non-functioning burners in about 30 minutes. The technician was very polite. We could not have asked for more.

Very well. We were not wanting to have to invest in completely new appliances at this time. Having him be able to bring our existing washer and dryer back to life (likely for a few more years) was a huge relief. He was able do the repairs within a day of my calling, and was very punctual and professional. Additionally, he also took the time to do a minor repair on our freezer. The fan is misaligned and causes an annoying grating sound. He was able to readjust the panel in front if so the noise ceased, without having to disassemble everything. This he did for a nominal fee since he was already onsite for the other repairs.
Description of Work: Over the course of a few months, both our washer and dryer, and refrigerator all needed repair. Peaco was able to do major repairs on both (motors, etc.) at a very reasonable cost.

Mr. Okafor offered several timely appointment options on the phone, and was punctual on the day. He immediately took off his shoes in the hallway, looked at all the appliances and offered suggestions not requiring a technician on the ice maker and wine cooler. The refrigerator required a service I'd read about with another Angie's List customer - to take off the door and realign it so that it would shut properly and hopefully thereby stop the ice forming on the back of the refrigerator wall. When the work was finished Mr. Okafor showed me everything he'd done and advised me to turn the unit off for a minimum of 48 hours to give the ice a chance to melt, and then to check carefully to make sure we'd identified the true source of the problem. He warned me there could be 2 alternate causes that might surface in the future, but that we were starting with the most obvious. That made sense to me and we agreed on the plan. Before leaving, Mr. Okafor completely polished the stainless steel surface of the refrigerator doors and went back to take away the paper towels he'd used so that all would be left tidy. When he calculated the bill, although there was no Big Deal involved ( I called him solely based on his excellent reviews) he gave me a nice Angie's List discount. Knowledgeable, pleasant, articulate on the problems, neat and on time. I highly recommend Peaco Appliance Service.

Bottom line - I can't recommend Peaco enough. The owner, Pius, showed up within an hour's notice on a Sunday to fix my washing machine. ON A SUNDAY!! No one else works Sundays. His repair was perfect, quick, and fairly priced. Forget everyone else. Did I mention this happened on a Sunday??? This is important because everyone's laundry day is Sunday. So I'm doing laundry on Sunday, which is of course laundry day. I've got kids, dogs, and therefore lots of laundry. The machine died mid-cycle. Without a washing machine I'm basically living in the Middle Ages, nearly complete paralaysis ensues. I open up Angie's List and start looking for people open on Sunday. Basically no one is. Except Peaco. And thank God. I get Pius on the phone., and within an hour or two of my call, he's at my house. He fixes our monstrous washing machine within another hour, and we're back in business. What a Godsend. And for what it's worth, Pius was a true gentleman. Just a really nice guy who you can tell likes helping people out. In an odd way I'm glad the washer broke because now I've got an appliance repairman for life. In case you're wondering, the malfunction was a Hello Kitty sticker - one of those firm 3D stickers that shows movement when you tilt it. It got wedged in the impeller, degrading the machine's ability to drain water. So arguably the most expensive Hello Kitty sticker of all time. One other bonus, Pius guaranteed the pump for life. He didn't have to. He didn't build it. And he sure didn't run a Hello Kitty sticker through it. But he guaranteed it for life. So if in 10 years the pump dies, he'll just charge me $100 for the new pump. No labor, no service charge. Just $100 for the part. Given my kids' obsession with Hello Kitty, stickers, and Hello Kitty stickers, my guess is he'll be back. And it'll be well worth it. Use this guy. 100%

My fridge was having temperature control problems - either freezing food or keeping it barely cool - and the door was increasingly hard to close - we had to lean against it to get the magnets to form a seal. I called Peaco Applance Service because all the reviews on Angie's List spoke about his honesty, responsiveness and effectiveness. It was Saturday afternoon, at 12:30pm when I called and he confirmed that he would be at the house that same day, between 1-4pm. He said he charges $95 for the diagnostics and would provide a quote before doing any other work. He arrived at 3:30pm and within minutes had diagnosed that both problems were due to the doors having gotten off balance and the frame of the fridge had become distorted. He said the work would cost $225 - which included his diagnostic fee. He took both the fridge and freezer door off of their hinges and worked on repositioning the hinges and on balancing the fridge. He rehung the doors so they both open and close smoothly and without effort, and form a proper seal so that the thermostat of the frigde can do it's job and keep the temp steady. He added something (I forgot what he said it was called) to the hinges to raise the doors slightly to make sure that they hit the frame at the right spot. Both doors now work perfectly and we can just let go of them and they close completely and form a tight seal. He left the kitchen clean. I asked if he did other electrical work, because I was also having problem with my kitchen light. He said no, but he did some diagnostics on the light and confirmed for me what I thought - that the ballast needs to be replaced. He gave me advice on how to do it myself at a lower cost. This advice and extra effort he provided for free. I was very pleased and will definitely use him again if I have any other appliance issues.

I am a very Handy Women but I have been dissed by so many contractors in my life, that I just feel the need to share my wonderful experience with you about Pius. He is The Man. I had a clogged drain on my washer. Pius came at 7:30 at night, and diagnosed the problem, telling me it could be 2 things, one more expensive than the other. He explained what he was doing in detail (my 5yr old boy by his side), found it was the lesser of 2 problems after opening the drain and after finding a small Montessori cloth napkin in the drain, drained it, looked around all over, and waited to make sure it was indeed fixed (running the diagnostics each time). He then looked at my refigerator, and explained what MIGHT be the problem, but he first suggested it was a water pressure issue. He said if a plumber can up the pressure in that line then we would never need to go into the fridge at all. He really solved a lot of issues with that suggestions because it fixed the ice maker, the water dispenser, the sink faucet, and the horrible Kitchenaid 2 drawer dishwaher that is always giving me problems. (BAD BUY ON MY PART.) SO, I will always call Pius now for all my appliance needs. And he is so nice. I feel elated to have found a good contractor who is REALLY smart, looks out for you, and is reasonably priced.

For the amount of time he spent here, it was a big job, but it was just something clogging the pipe that wouldn't let the water drain so the water backed up and froze. He knew what he was doing. The refrigerator has worked fine since he did this.
Description of Work: I was getting water at the bottom of the freezer on my refrigerator. It was freezing up and he came out and disassembled the freezer section and took everything out to clean it out of any debris that may have been clogging the drain. He cleaned everything, put it all back, and pulled the refrigerator out to clean the grommets. He snipped those so that there would be a larger area to drain.
