Globe Bath & Kitchen Remodeling LLC

We are extremely happy with our new bathrooms and with this company. Globe did a great job and was extremely professional from start to finish. We received three estimates for our bathroom remodeling job and Globe came in much less than the others. Adem, one of the owners, had great suggestions when we were selecting tile and cabinets. Adem was the only one of the three bathroom remodeling companies who bid on our job who noticed that there was water leaking behind one of our bathroom shower walls. It turned out we needed to completely replace the tile in that shower area. The workers, Luis and his crew, were very skilled, prompt, trustworthy and cleaned up after themselves daily, covering the carpets with drop cloths to keep them clean from the front door to the bathrooms. The job took about six weeks which was within the time frame estimated. Globe was flexible about changes we requested and charged a reasonable price for those changes. We would use this company again.

We needed to have our bathroom remodeled in a hurry after my husband had surgery. Globe not only did a beautiful job - with their showroom samples we selected everything and they were able to gut our bathroom and get up a working bathtub and shower within 10 days. We live in a house that is over 120 years old and they were able to do the rewiring necessary for the new jacuzzi tub and heated tiles. It was amazing. The quality of the work, professionalism and responsiveness were outstanding. Adem was very good about keeping me informed every step of the way. I would highly recommend.

We met with Adem at the condo to outline the project and get an estimate, which he provided soon after our meeting. We subsequently met at the showroom in Falls Church to choose materials. Adem was very helpful with advice about our selections and was amenable to making a number of changes during the course of the projects and he was professional and courteous throughout our dealings with him. He contacted us on a regular basis about the progress of the projects and met with us at the condo whenever there was a question about anything. The crew was efficient and professional as well. Although the condo was unoccupied, the crew did an excellent job of cleaning up after any work had been done. We highly recommend GBK for kitchen and bathroom renovations and would hire them again in the future.

The project went very well overall. Mr. Adem and we met several times to plan and discuss materials, products, and scheduling. We were in frequent contact via cell phones from start to finish. Mr. Adem visited the project frequently, sometimes bringing in expert advisers as the project progressed. His team, led by Luis, was very competent, efficient, courteous and helpful. They always tried to please and accommodate any requests or suggestions we made. The crew respected our property and privacy while working in our home for several weeks. The project did take longer than first estimated to complete, due to waiting the arrival of materials. We had to suspend the work for a few days to go on a scheduled vacation. However, these small delays were never a cause of friction, because of Mr. Adem's honest, conscientious efforts to please. This open and honest relationship pleased us very much. Mr. Adem's honesty and sincerity were reflected in his pricing. We never felt like we were paying too much.

I cannot say enough good things about Globe Bath and Kitchen. They remodeled a hall bath used by our children and guests, and our master bath. Each bath was demolished down to the studs, and all new fixtures, tile, cabinetry, and accessories were installed from floor to ceiling (and in the case of the older bath, new plumbing replaced corroded pipes). Sirage Adem was helpful in helping us plan the baths and choose tile. He was also very responsive if we needed his opinion on something, changed our mind on flooring or accessories, or if anything was not quite right (as in the case where the jacuzzi tub needed some minor rewiring). The crew, led by Luis Romero, was fabulous. Their professionalism and attention to detail, particularly in the tile work, drywall, and trim work is truly impressive. They are craftsmen. They worked very hard, were always cheerful and very pleasant to work with, and cleaned up after themselves very nicely at the end of the day. Luis is obviously very experienced, and was also very helpful in suggesting placement of accessories and lighting as the project progressed. The bathrooms turned out beautifully, and are exactly what we wanted. The materials used are of excellent quality. The project took a bit longer than we had expected, but that was because we did run into issues such as badly corroded plumbing that needed replacing. The price, I thought, was fair. While Globe was not the least expensive estimate we received, they did come in considerably lower than both Case Remodeling and Metropolitan Bath & Tile. I cannot imagine that either company could do better than Globe.

Overall, the experience was very positive. The quality of the material and work was very good. The lead carpenter, Luis, is very talented, doing an excellent job on the finishing touches. Adem was easy to work with. He was responsive, allowed us to make changes as we went along, and quickly solved the few issues with the material that were encountered.

I am very disappointed with GBK Remodeling - and in particular, Adem. I called 7/19/10 for a quote, and Adem called me back about 30 mins later. We talked at length and I told him I have a very small kitchen. He seemed fine with that and asked me to email more details such as photos. And I did so, with the understanding that he'd contact me with a quote later on. After a few days, I emailed him again 7/24 to ask if he got my email. I never received a response to either message. But not wanting to make assumptions. I called the receptionist a few days later to confirm the email address was correct. And as of today (8/2), Adem has not responded. I can only assume that he is either overworked, or has become complacent with customer service. This is a shame, since my neighbor highly recommended GBK, and Adem seemed so nice on the phone. It seems that GBK has really slipped since the 2009 reviews (I was hesitant having read some of the lower ratings). If they don't want to do a project. I understand. But a cursory response would have been appreciated. Given the time I spent gathering information and putting it into an email.

We just moved into an older house and my mother's bathroom had a very old small bathtub. She is in her 70s so needed a larger tub with access to grab bars and a shower wand for bathing. We called Adem for an estimate - he came the next day and gave us many very thoughtful suggestions for the remodeling job. We were originally not going to re-tile (we just wanted to replace the tub and toilet), but Adem convinced us to, as the new tub was much larger than the old one, and matching it up with the old tile would leave a less finished look. We hated the old tile anyway, so it was an easy sell. We went to the GBK showroom to pick out our tile. They have a small but very nice selection. We could have gone elsewhere for tile but we actually found a combination of ceramic and glass tiles that we really liked in his showroom so we stuck with that. We spent quite a bit of time going back and forth on styles and colors - Adem was extremely patient with us. He also was able to find a shower wand that my mom had used at a friend's house and made several other suggestions that would make it easier for her to maneuver in this small bathroom. His crew came out about 4 days later to start the work - they were very polite and hard working, and always left the place very clean. Adem came to oversee their work on a few occasions. The end result is just gorgeous, and my mother could not be happier. Adem is highly professional and courteous, and I feel like I got a very good price. I would definitely hire him in the future if I decide to re-do another bathroom or my kitchen.

They started a couple of months ago. The price is about $20,000. In one bathroom, they replaced everything and did the flooring. In another bathroom, they replaced the sink, lighting and vanities. They did the countertops in both the bathrooms. They seem to be very good craftsmen. The reason it is not complete yet is because the company who did the vanities sent one that has a flaw in it. When they came to fix it, they sent a request to that company. The company owner has not come yet. I thought their price was very reasonable. They were very responsive. I have been at home when they said they would come in at a certain time. We will be using them in the future, maybe next year.

Adem was VERY responsive and easy to work with. He gave me a complete estimate, with measurements and options for faucets, etc. I work full time and am not always available at home during the day or even by phone at work. Adem was wonderful sending pictures and info by email. He started and finished the job on time - very responsive and met my schedule. His work is top quality - we've been very pleased with the new bathroom. I would both use him for future projects in my house and recommend to friends.

We are not using them. We found someone that we felt like it was a better fit. It was more for their personality that we didn't go with Globe.

He said that he would give me a written estimate and he never did. I emailed him and he said he would have it by the end of the week and he didn't, so I didn't pursue it. He would have probably gotten the job if the written estimate had matched the verbal estimate, but he never came back with anything. He was punctual when he originally came out.

Globe did such an outstanding job in the fall with renovation of our full bath (see 11/20/09 report) that we asked Adem to do a similar, but smaller job with our half bath. The half bath had all the original fixtures and features from when the house was constructed in the late 40s. Again, Adem gave us good ideas on materials/fixtures given the narrow space (7' x 3'). The price seemed reasonable (though we didn't bid it w/ others). As for construction, the subcontractors arrived on the date agreed to and worked quickly and thoroughly during the whole project. They also did a good job of keeping the site clean - particularly on those days they were demolishing. Adem and we had a mis-communication on the floor tile -- only realized after his team had installed the wrong tile. He was gracious about redoing the work without charge as the mistake was based on his misinterpretation of what we had expressed. The overall end result of the project was as good as what we had experienced in the first project. The renovation went on for almost three months, but the problem was due to a very tardy supplier, whom my wife and I worked with directly. It was not the fault of Globe. Without the delayed order, I estimate the project would have been completed in a couple of weeks. Once the fixtures arrived, Adem sent his team out the following day. Adem was also patient about the delay, particularly given he had to wait for over two months for the final payment. We have had two good experiences w/ Globe and continue to recommend them.

Contract was for Kitchen remodel cabinets, floor and granite counter ? some minor electrical upgrade. The cabinets were ordered with the wrong door swing? The granite was to have rounded (bull-nose) edging they did not do it. He knocked a little off the price ? but it is not what we wanted. They built one of the walls wrong so there is a weird jog and the cabinets are not flush. The owner was very unresponsive once he had my deposit. I called (2 weeks) before the installation of the granite with questions ? he waited until the granite was in before calling back. He became more and more difficult to deal with as HIS mistakes compounded. VERY shoddy work the threshold for the door leaks. They broke a hinge on my rear door and replaced it with one that does not match. They should have at least replaced the set of hinges. He used sub-contractors?and they apparently don?t like working for him and have trouble getting paid. Stay away from this guy! Don?t use anyone who subcontracts. Update -- June 2011 -- I had to have an electrician come in to install an outlet - unrelated to this work. He took one look at the work Globe had done and told me it was ALL ILLEGAL -- not in compliance with any codes!!!! I needed to have all the work redone in order to bring it to code! STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!

Adem seemed nice and had quality products to offer, I was surprised we never heard from him again. If he couldn't make enough money off our small bathroom remodel I wish he had told us instead of wasting our time.

Adem provided an estimate up front after visiting the apartment and discussing the job. After selecting GBK, I added a few items and we refined the estimate and signed a contract for the labor and construction materials. We provided all the tile, fixtures, cabinets, faucets, etc. Adem assigned a crew led by Luise. They did an excellent job and handled the inevitable surprises that pop up when working on a 1950s building very well. Another contractor working on replacing our doors even commented on the quality of their tile work. Adem offered to help with purchasing and choosing fixtures, tile, tubs, cabinets etc., but we chose to source most of the items ourselves. This resulted in some extra stress for everyone because we weren't aware of all the choices we would need to make so quickly. In the end it worked, but I would highly recommend not starting your remodeling project until you've selected and sourced everything. Many items take a lot longer to find and have delivered than you would think.

The Globe crew did an excellent job. Adem provided a variety of choices for the tile, countertops, and cabinets, and helped make sure the choices we made worked together. We were a little nervous about undertaking this project shortly before Thanksgiving, but Adem assured us the work would be completed on time, and it was. There were a few followup items (some cabinet hardware), but nothing significant. The job was completed more quickly and was less of a hassle than we anticipated. The crew was very careful about putting up barriers to minimize the amount of dust that escaped the work area, and cleaned up every day after they finished work. Overall, we were very satisfied with the entire experience. We hired Globe for the kitchen after they did two bathrooms for us, and we would definitely use them again.

From the time we started working with Globe until the job was completed took longer than anticipated and this was partly because we took so long to make decisions with respect to the color, tile selection, etc. This was a critical element of getting the kitchen we have and should be taken into consideration when estimating the time it takes. One needs to get a sample of the cabinets, match them against granite, against the paint, against the backsplash and this all takes more time. If this can be well coordinated it could result in a quicker job. It is critical that all the requirements are in place if you want the kitchen to completed on time. Doing research in advance is always a very good thing.

Beware of Adem! He was super nice, and then we gave him the first check. After that it was all down hill. Everything that could go wrong did go wrong. Adem is not a man of his word and in this line of business, reputation should matter. With all of the choices and the economy, you can do better than Globe Kitchen and Bath. We found him on Angie's List but he fell far short of our expectations. He was rude and disrespectful to my wife. He treated her like she was an imbecile, not a paying customer. Adem repeatedly told us that he doesn't normally take jobs this small ($8000) and acted like he was doing us a favor. I guess $8000 doesn't get you what it used to. The job took weeks longer than he quoted and his price seemed to go up every time we spoke. It took his "master plumber" 2 days to find a crack in the toilet and in the meantime, toilet water was leaking under the tile they installed; or should I say cracked tile that was installed. Adem had to come back and replace cracked tiles. His workers never even mentioned they were cracked. I guess they were hoping we would miss that. He installed a cracked bathroom sink, and again never let us know. My only assumption is that he hoped we would miss that as well. Grout is cracking in the bathtub and around the edge of the floor. When I called Adem to ask when he could seal and/or grout again, he got mad at me and hung up on me! He still hasn't returned my calls about the grout. I am kicking myself because I should have posted this earlier. The reason that I did not is because I didn't want to jeopardize my 1 year "labor and parts warranty." Unfortunately, there is no warranty. I have cracked grout and am completely unsatisfied with the service Adem provided. What is worse, I originally posted this on my brother-in-law's Angie's List account. Adem protested and had the posting removed rather than try to correct the problem at my property.

They were helpful, polite, prompt, and I would use them again. The work was done quickly and well. The pricing was under $100.

We wanted them to give us a high estimate and a low estimate. More importantly we wanted them to give us their labor cost plus the cost of the fixtures so that we could determine that there was something that would be optional based on the price, like moving walls and building closets. They were very good, but we thought it was over the top. They didn't need to have an architect come in to do an in-depth measurement for an estimate, but they did. In terms of the estimate itself, working it up and the thoroughness of the details that the estimate itself provides, they were very good. I would probably fail them in the pricing. I don't remember if we asked them whether they used sub-contractors. They were professional and wonderful, but we wouldn't use them again. We had interviewed 6 or 7 companies.

The work took just over three weeks, which given the terrible weather, was very reasonable. The crew arrived early and worked until dinner time. They cleaned up each day. We discussed the work to be done on a daily basis, which was helpful. I highly recommend Adem and his crew. I couldn't be more pleased with their work.
