They demo'd the old stoop which was washing out. They also tied in the new curved porch to our asphalt driveway which is on a pretty steep slope and it came out very nicely. They did a good job of cleaning up after themselves and saved some pavers we were using in a separate walkway. The new stoop and porch have held up very well and we've received many positive comments in the year since the project was completed. The company's sales rep, Clint Asmar, was very responsive, knowledgeable, and professional. The installation team worked quickly and cleaned up after themselves. We would use them again.

This is a dream come true porch. While it was being built. many neighbors stopped by to admire, and one said we added considerable real estate value to the six houses in our court. Having a Dutch colonial made it difficult to design something, but Phoenix's Clint paid very close attention to our requests. and the plan he presented, including the unexpected stone skirt was better than we expected. The final porch is extraordinary and looks great. The "curb appeal" for our home has increased considerably. Communication and punctuality were our biggest complaints. After having been given a start date, we did not hear from Phoenix for several days. We knew that our area had 22 days of rain in June and this put them behind, but with both my wife and I working, we needed to arrange our schedules to meet the contractors. However, Phoenix missed several appointments. and we had little recourse but to wait. Also, we had to hassle a bit on some structural aspects that were in the agreement, as we expected the fine details Clint drafted in the agreement would be followed. For instance, the stone masonry porch skirt was to be affixed to cinder block, but the contractor used treated plywood. After some back and forth, the site manager agreed to put some concrete under the plywood to prevent the wood from soaking up water, which any plywood will do. Also, the floor was not initially attached to the joists, but instead to the brick masonry facade, which the county inspector wanted changed. Phoenix changed it, which cost about a half day of work. The two best parts of the work were the excellent/incredible carpentry team and the very expert masonry team that placed each stone by hand and added the on-site mixed mortar by hand also. We had some slight rain during the work, but the time to finish exceed expectations by about 40%. No problems for us, but with the late start and delays, we didn't get to enjoy our find porchfor much of the remaining summer. We contacted three other contractors, two of which provided bids, that were very different. The level of detail, design and expertise of Phoenix were considerably better than anyone we talked with. One firm charged us 3% of estimated costs for a preliminary design. This would be deducted from the final cost. It gave us a design to start with, but didn't like this approach. I would use Phoenix again and highly recommend them for their work. The craftsmanship was excellent, and the finished product is really quite spectacular and greatly exceeded our expectations. Thanks, Cliff and Jose.
Description of Work: Designed and built 42'x8' porch on front of home, including a new slate walkway, two sets of steps, wrap around stone skirt and covered all our home's front bricks with real stone and masonry. Installation included roof, inside tongue/groove ceiling, wiring for two fans, six recessed lights (three switches), installed support for five foot porch swing. Railing was all aluminum covered vinyl, porch flooring was Trex. All exterior surfaces were either vinyl or pvc. Installed matching shingles to the house, drains and gutters and two receptacles on the porch and one on the outside wall. Slate window sills were added to four windows to match the stone. Slate walkway was sloped exactly to match the driveway where they joined. I provided the fans, porch swing and all other electrical and supplies were included in the cost. No charge for the design. We added stone masonry addition to the house to the agreement after signing the porch contract. Total cost for porch, stone work on the house and slate sidewalk was $48,000.

It went very well. Everyone was incredible. The feedback throughout the project was always coming. We knew every delay. They were fabulous!
Description of Work: Phoenix Home Services Inc rebuilt the foundation under our house with the house still standing. They repaired, put in multiple types of drains, the least of which were french drains. They took a muli-prong approach to resolving drainage issues. The problems will never appear again. They crunched the numbers, and they offered solutions within the same budget to not only fix problems and flood damage but to make a beautiful, useful space where want to spend our time.

Clint designed our patio taking my description of what I wanted in my backyard and made it a reality. Our back yard was not level and basically a forest. After removing about 19 trees, his team was able to flatten the ground and redirect the water so my backyard is no longer muddy. His design of the patios and walkways flowed well with the main trees in the backyard. I was impressed how he was able to use the existing trees to have the patios flow between them; making the patios a focal point of the yard while using the natural shade of the trees to block the sunlight. The cost agreed upon did not change from start to finish. The quality of materials used and workmanship exceeded my expectations. They spent a full day doing measurements in the early stages, and half a day prior to pouring the concrete to ensure it was perfect. The concrete is at a slight slant, ensuring that all rain water drains properly. I've had no issues with water accumulation in my yard as well as the patio. If there was ever a problem, a quick call would take care of anything. He?s not afraid to speak his mind when it came to the design process. I had many quotes from other companies, and I chose Phoenix because of Clint?s honesty and experience. You can tell from his design and explanation of it that he?s very experienced and knows exactly what to do. His team exceeded my expectations and more importantly, was able to complete the project under strict deadlines, on-time and with little to no surprises.

[member name removed], How are both of you doing? I apologize for the delays. The project was signed in April, not March. I appreciate the B quality. The quality is higher than that, but I can understand your frustration in regards to the overall process. It was the permit process that held things up on our end. Some things we deal with are out of our control and can cause delays. It rarely happens, which shows with our high marks on Angieslist, but in this case, it did. I apologize for this, and if there is anything I can do to help out in the future, please let me know. I hope you enjoy the beautiful deck we built and the upcoming holidays.

Phoenix did an excellent job. Jose oversaw the project & was always available by phone in addition to stopping by at least once per day. He was very helpful in making a reality of the ideas I had in mind for the project. He was helpful with design suggestions, brought samples of materials for me to choose from and was extraordinarily patient and accommodating as I made final decisions. The crew worked hard and long hours. They were very polite and respectful. They cleaned up every day when they finished. They went out of their way to check with me and make sure I was satisfied with the results of the specific part of the project they were doing. The project was completed within the estimated time frame. I am delighted with the results. I have received many compliments from neighbors and friends re the looks and workmanship.
Description of Work: Phoenix tore off the 29 yr old siding and replaced with Hardie siding. They removed the shutters and widened the framing surrounding the windows in front. They removed the old wood porch flooring, railings, posts and steps. They regraded the dirt beneath & reinforced porch structure before installing a new porch. The flooring of the new porch is composite material. They installed wide columns on the porch. They installed new stone steps to the porch & used same stone on the vertical areas below porch to the ground. They removed the old flagstone walkway and replaced with new flagstone after laying a new foundation. The walkway was regraded away from the house allowing only two steps to the porch instead of the three we had previously. They caulked and painted trim and where needed. They replaced the gutters, downspouts & front fascia.

It has now been 2 weeks, and I am giving them an F for wasting my time.
Description of Work: I called for an estimate, and they cancelled our first appointment-but at least they called. We rescheduled and we asked them to give us an estimate for a patio and finishing our basement. The guy was nice, asked for details, and took notes. I was very specific and told him we need the patio estimate- even if they don't want to do the basement project. A little over a week had passed, so I called them several times to request the estimate but there was still no reply.

(member name removed), your ceiling was under 7' without a ceiling even installed. We spoke to our engineer and it was not a project we would be able to undertake because of the height issues you had in the basement. We emailed and explained this to you. I apologize for any inconvenience, but at the end of the day, you want a company to be honest with you. After doing our research, that is exactly what we were. Again, apologies, and good luck with your project.

Both projects came out great. We were very pleased by the quality of the work. They were very helpful in making spot on suggestions. We like when the people we hire to do work for us give their professional opinion and don't just yes us in our ideas. In this particular case we had bought, as agreed to in the contract, the new mantel for our stone fireplace. We bought a wood one to match our hardwood floors. When Jose the project supervisor asked to see it, he very tactfully told us it wasn't going to look good with the stone. He explained his reasoning and we went with his suggestion of a stone mantel, it looks fantastic. There were some other ideas that they suggested for the outside walkway which we went with too. The crew who did the work were such hard workers. They cleaned up after the themselves each day and left the work area as neat as possible; this was especially true when working on the inside fireplace. There is no way to avoid the dust and the mess, but that having been said, they took great effort to leave everything tidy. The only negative I would say is there is a definite language barrier. The crew who does the work speak little to no English, this can be a bit problematic at times, but we certainly managed. We can't say enough about what talented and hard workers the crew were. There stone work is just beautiful! We would highly recommend them, and would certainly use them again if the need arose.
Description of Work: They did a flagstone walkway and stoop, walkway 160 sq ft. stoop about 5'x9' with one 9'x1' step. In addition, they stoned our existing inside fireplace roughly 5 feet across up to the 9 foot ceiling.

Came out, provided an estimated cost and time frame; the workers were a little late on the timeframe but not terrible, on the first day of the 3 day install, some things were messy and in the garden, but on the 2nd day evrything had been moved away from my plants, and completely tidied up, which is how it stayed until the job was completed. The new door is excellent, exactly what we wanted, and has completely blocked the water problem. Job well done. The height was a minor issue, but we can and are fixing that ourselves, and it was not included in the original specs.

Phoenix Home Services built a beautiful deck for our family at a very affordable price. The quality of the work is excellent, and I'd especially like to note the professionalism of the crew. They were incredibly courteous, and consistently informed us of the project's status and timeline. They waited at our home longer than necessary for a late building inspector and lumber delivery in order to ensure the project stayed on schedule. Also, they were all native English speakers, which made communicating about the price estimate, plans, and project status much easier. Because of this, we were able to convey nuanced ideas about project details that would have been difficult to do had they not been native speakers. There was a miscommunication regarding the adjacent fenced-in dog run that we had requested, and they happily and efficiently corrected the minor issue. The foreman was also able to give us suggestions regarding the rail design, which definitely made for a more beautiful deck. The only flaws were found were some cracks in a few of the railings, and the latch on one of the gates does not properly latch. I am sure they would fix these minor issues if we requested it, but we have not. We are already planning on using Phoenix Home Services again to build a patio in our backyard! We highly recommend their services!
Description of Work: Phoenix Home Services built a large deck in our backyard with two sets of stairs and gates and lattice under the deck to enclose a small storage area. They also constructed an adjacent fenced-in dog run with a gate leading to the backyard. Per our request, they used wood (rather than composite).

From the first estimate to completion everything went according to plan, except it did of course take longer than estimated. But the estimate was for 3 days of work, which actually took 5 days. That is not a big deal for that kind of timeline, and it had no effect on the agreed upon price.

The guy was on time, and called ahead so I knew when he was coming. He might not have charged me for anything, but I wanted something written, and they had been over before and not charged me -- so I am in the mode of trying to give them money. Anyway, my steel chimney was clean, and they looked at the spalling and determined that it's not a problem.
Description of Work: Wanted to have chimney inspected, with a written inspection, as we're thinking about selling the house (or renting it) in a few months. There was some spalling on the bricks near the top of the chimney, and this had been noticed by a realtor we had had over to help us figure out what to fix before selling or renting.

I submitted an estimate request on their website and within minutes (literally) received a call from Clint to schedule an appointment. He was able to come out a few days later after I got home from work and was actually waiting for me when I got there. We walked around back and discussed a bunch of different ideas for what to do in my yard. He had a lot of suggestions we hadn't even thought about! By the end of the appointment Clint had shown us enough pictures of the company's work that we already knew pretty much exactly what we wanted. He emailed us an estimate and a design that same night and everything looked great. Phoenix was able to start the job in 3 weeks after we signed the contract. Jose and the guys worked 10-12 hours a day and they finished everything faster than we thought possible. They were very professional and always cleaned up every day so we didn't have to worry about our dogs stepping on (or trying to eat) any nails when we took them out! We are more than pleased with the results and would happily recommend Clint, Jose and Phoenix Home Services to anybody!

I contacted Phoenix to come over and see my unfinished basement and to brainstorm some ideas for finishing it. Clint Asmar came over and walked around the basement, but as we walked around and discussed ideas he acted more and more as though he really didn't want the job. When I mentioned that I might like to make a certain area a legal bedroom and would need a window cut into the foundation he said that a very deep window would need to be cut and it would be costly. I said "but that's what you do, right" ? He agreed it was. In another instance I said I'd like to have a wet bar in a certain area. He said I should just go buy a bar because I couldn't have a sink in that area. He didn't seem at all interested in tackling the basement project. He said he would get back to me with his thoughts and a price quote. But as he left he told me to do my due diligence and consult with other companies on the project. He never did send me the thoughts or quote. Then, three weeks after his visit, he sent me an email asking how my project was coming and to let him know our thoughts or if he could help out with anything else. I immediately responded asking if he was going to send us a quote. No response. Then, two months later, I received a form email from Phoenix saying that Fall is the perfect time to start a home improvement project. This company was a waste of my time and a colossal disappointment. 11/27/12 Anyone would inquire about the cost of the entire project and tackling each aspect of the project during the estimate is entirely appropriate. However, I had put no cap on the project cost; anything was possible. I don?t dispute that the suggested area for the bar was good; I have a problem with being told to go buy a bar. I was waiting but I received no proposal, licensing or references and received no follow-up. Nothing went into my Junk mail folder and an email search yielded nothing along the lines of any resulting communication from Phoenix. Again, I sent an email asking where the quote was which should have been enough of an indication that I received nothing. I stand by my original review.

Customer, I apologize for any inconvenience you thought I might have caused you. I went out and saw the project area and Phoenix is always interested in any project that a client might bring to the table that we are capable of installing. I suggested pricing for certain projects because you had inquired initially about cost for the entire project, so I wanted to tackle each aspect of the project along the appointment. The area that you wanted the wet bar installed in was so small that I had initially suggested buying some time of bar to fit in that area and then if you actually remember, I found another area of the basement that a wet bar would fit in perfectly which you initially wanted to be an office. You agreed with me that it would be a better area and you could have an open office area to the left of your home. I sent you over a detailed proposal, licensing and references and also checked back with you to make sure you received the proposal. Apparently you didn't and I wish I would have known because I would have re-sent you the proposal. I went to your house 15 minutes early for our appointment, sent you a detailed proposal, licensing and references, and followed up with you twice regarding the project to see if there was anything else I could help out with. If you didn't receive the proposal, you should have emailed me or called me to let me know. Again, I'm very sorry that you feel our appointment was a colossal disappointment and that Phoenix was not interested in the job. If there is anything I can help you out with in the future, please let me know. Hope all is well.

We called Phoenix and scheduled an appointment for an estimate. James Tucker came out and looked at the driveway and measured, answered all of our questions and said he would get back with us on an estimate. We received the estimate the same day. We decided to go with this company after receiving other bids because it was the lowest. James very nicely agreed to return to give us a further estimate on 2 french drains we needed installed. Because of the location of the drains we did not want to risk messing up the new driveway and James agreed to do the drains at the same time. James called Miss Utility and they came out and marked. Then we waited for good weather. James called the day before and let us know they would be able to do the driveway the next day and finish in one day. Paulo and his crew arrived at 7:30 the next morning and starting working. I called home from work at noon to see if they had finished breaking up the old concrete and asphalt and my husband told me they were already pouring concrete! They finished the job around 5:00 PM. I spoke to James that day concerning the drop off from the driveway to the grass. It was much higher than I imagined. James had Paulo bring fill dirt, grass seed, and straw the next day and they filled in the areas along side the driveway. This company very much exceeded my expectations. They were very fast without sacrificing quality. Paulo's team was amazing. When they left everything was cleaned up perfectly! From James to Paulo and all the workers, this company cares about customer service. I would highly recommend them to anyone and would definitely use them again!

We visited Phoenix's website and were very impressed with the pictures of their work, so we submitted a free estimate request. Within minutes, we got a call from Clint to talk about our project and set up an appointment to come meet with us. He came by the next evening and explained basically the entire process from start to finish, step by step. He was very professional and we both felt comfortable working with him. Once the permit was ready and we got approval from our HOA, Phoenix was already ready to start. When their crew came out to work, they were always very punctual and professional and even cleaned up the yard every day before they left. We were both very surprised at how quickly they finished the project and it turned out beautiful. Everybody in the neighborhood loves it! I would gladly recommend Phoenix Home Services to anyone looking to have similar work done. Their price was a little higher than some of the other bids we received but it was well worth it for the superior quality and customer service they provided to us. We're hoping to have Phoenix come build us a portico next summer!
Description of Work: Phoenix built us a screened-in porch and a flagstone patio.

Phoenix installed the flagstone and railings. The amount of time the company spent repairing or fixing construction mistakes was egregious and invoked an unnecessary amount of my time. In the end, Phoenix fixed almost all of their issues.
Description of Work: Phoenix installed flagstone on a concrete base in two main areas of my property. They installed the flagstone on my front stairs and a circular opening and sidewalk out to my driveway. Phoenix also installed wrought iron railings on the staircase - to replace good railings that had some rust. Around the side and back of my house, they installed a flagstone patio and walkway. Although the cost was slightly above other estimates, I decided to go with Phoenix mainly because of my positive interactions and perceived trust with Clint Asmar, the design consultant and salesman.

From start to finish on our patio, every person we dealt with was first-rate and, more importantly, customer oriented. Our questions and concerns were answered quickly. Starting with the sales/design rep, Clint Asmar, we felt comfortable and confidant that Phoenix Home Services would do a good job. Clint suggested the color of the travertine and the use of Palomino stone for the knee walls. He was absolutely right! Our patio looks beautiful. Since we live in a community with an HOA, our patio design had to be approved. Clint provided us with everything we needed to submit our application. Within two weeks, our application was approved and our patio started. Our job superintendent was 100% competent, trustworthy and customer-oriented. Through over 20 years, we have had contractors working on various projects in our homes. He was the best we have ever had on any work done! He and his crew worked quickly, neatly and took the time to make every detail of the patio right!
Description of Work: Phoenix Home Services, Inc. just completed our stone patio and did an absolutely beautiful job! We chose Phoenix Home Services after getting quotes from four companies because Clint Asmar, our design consultant, listened to what we wanted, made logical and reasonable suggestions, and showed us samples of their previous jobs. A major factor in selecting them was they use stone masons who have decades of experience and KNOW what they are doing. Since we chose travertine stone for our patio and palomino stone for our two knee walls with eight lights, the cost of the patio was relatively high. However, quality plus size drove the cost up.
