Rick the plumber arrived as scheduled, because of the age of the existing fixtures I asked if he could replace both faucet stems and both shutoff valves, which he did. He was professional, neat and courteous.

Job completed quickly and professionally by Rick. Also, added a pipe modification to reduce potential of future freezing problems.

Water heater began leaking, a nuisance as usual. My regular plumber was overbooked at the time and the owner recommended F J Hooks. They helped with a new tank selection. I don't buy water heaters very often so I took their suggestion. They came early the next day, and got to work. The team did an excellent job installing the new tank. They covered carpeted and wood floor areas they used, and cleaned up everything on completion. I appreciated how they replaced the copper pipe leading to and from the water heater, and also replaced older fittings (e.g. older saddle valves on the water line going to humidifier & fridge) with new shut off valves and how they tested everything for leakage. Oddly, two of the small branch valve fittings they installed actually failed with leaks. They calmly replaced these fittings with ones which didn't leak. After a couple months, no leaks or problems have developed and I'm still very pleased with their install work.

After my hot water heater burst and dumped over 40 gallons on my floor and the neighbor's condo below, I contacted several Angie's List plumbers in the area. I was surprised that most plumbers would only replace a hot water heater if one was purchased from them. The reason given was that they could not guarantee the hot water heater unless it was purchased through them. When I asked what was the brand name they sold, several of them replied with the exact same brand/model number that I bought through my connections - but they still would not install that same heater. (And surprise surprise, their prices ranged from $230 to $415 more than I paid for the same heater. After talking to four A-rated plumbers in the area, I found F J Hooks who had no problem installing my heater, at a price that was $50 less than their nearest competitor, even those offering an Angie's List discount. They even offered to go to my supplier and pick up the heater for me, but I had already arranged delivery. An appointment was made for two days later. Unfortunately I was unable to keep the appointment and they graciously rescheduled for a few days later - to show up between 10 and 12. At 9:20 on the morning of my appointment, I received a call saying they were on the way. Jesus and his assistant arrived, removed the old heater, installed the new one, and were finished around 11:00. I was told I would receive the bill in the mail. I left on a business trip and returned 17 days later. The bill I received was for $525 - $75 more than I was quoted. And it was due on the day I opened the mail after returning home. I called the office, left a voice mail - and within 10 minutes I received a call back. I was actually in their driveway to drop the check off when the call came in. I went into the office, showed the invoice - and without any dickering, the invoice was reduced to $450 paid in full. Apparently the additional charge came from upgrading from a 42 gallon to a 50 gallon heater. Would I use them again? I'm already looking at projects for them to complete - converting a wood burning fireplace to gas, rerouting a water line for a refrigerator ice maker, installing a new dishwasher and gas stove, etc ?. as $$ become available. They've become my go-to plumbers. Friendly and professional all-the-way.

Rick the plumber arrived about 20 minutes early, which was a few minutes before we returned from an earlier errand. He was trying to contact us when we tapped on his truck's window. He replaced the disposal, cleaned up and took the old unit with him in about 30 minutes. No subsequent problem with the work.

Jesus and Chris did a great job of finding the exact source of the water leak and replaced the toilet seal as well as added additional wax seal around the flooring under the toilet. They replaced everything and recaulked around the base of the toilet. You can't even tell any work had been done. Jesus even recommended keeping the open area in the ceiling open for a few days to let any remaining water dry before calling someone to fix the ceiling. Very professional folks.

They showed up on time. Kept all the areas neat. There was a lot of holes cut in the sheet rock and minimal mess. They completed the job ahead of schedule.

Went really well. They were easy to work with even before I hired them. Answered my questions via messages within Angie's List, and I ultimately hired them because they were BY FAR the lowest price out of the 5 plumbing companies I got estimates from for this job. The closest competitor was $100 more, and the reality is, FJ Hooks price is what I expected for this type of job (replacing a pressure reducing valve.) So the cost seemed very fair to me where as other providers seemed to be gouging. They arrived on time in the morning (after a courtesy call), came in and quickly got to work. They were also kind enough to take a look at a couple of other things just to give me their personal opinion on what any issues might be. Were in and out very quickly with no issues. They had cloths and buckets for any dripping water that may come out of the main valve. And a few days after the fact I called to ask a question and the technician who was at my house called me back and we spoke for almost 10 minutes on a different topic for general guidance. Overall really great service and I would absolutely hire them again.

Excessive indoor water pressure became a problem when the water heater began venting. Fairfax County Water advised that the pressure reducing valve was a likely cause. After considerable research on the subject of pressure reducing valves and on Angie's List plumbers, we called F J Hooks. Peggy answered our call, very professional, clear, and polished customer interaction. Rick came out the next day, examined the now-leaking valve, and replaced it in just a few minutes. Unlike our experience with another plumbing firm a few years ago, his work is tidy, his soldering expertly done. He didn't seem to mind our questions, either. All in all, a very positive experience. I'd call them back without hesitation.

Wilmer and Ed were on time. Worked in the pouring rain. Did a great job and cleaned up. We have plenty of hot water!

I was doing the final walk-through with my drywall contractor and noticed water coming from behind one of the walls. This happened around 12:30 on a Friday afternoon. I called FJ Hooks, who I had hired for previous work< and the leak was repaired by shortly after 4PM. Less than four hours turnaround at no extra charge. Rick, the plumber who came out, was friendly, professional, and efficient.

The two plumbers who came out were professional and efficient. I got bids from three different plumbers, all highly rated on Angie's List, and FJ Hooks was the least expensive. They were on time for both visits and did quality work.
