Clawes was amazing. They were able to coordinate with us to come by on days we were already slated to be home, for both the initial estimate and the install. The carpet is beautiful, and was installed incredibly quickly, with no issues at all. The fact that it wasn't an enormous job had zero impact on the quality of their workmanship or service, which says a lot. We know where we will go next time we need to carpet a room!

After a very bad experience with previous contractor, Clawes assured us that our experience with them would be 100% satisfactory. He was true to his words. His guy was punctual and very thorough. We would recommend Clawes without a second thought.

Clawes Carpets in Bristow, VA came out and measured our basement for all new carpet. We got quotes from two other flooring stores, though the others sounded cheaper initially, we found the others were cutting corners on padding. Clawes said they didn't usually install anything less than 8-lb padding. We had one room recently finished with new carpet and Clawes matched the carpet perfectly. The day of the install the installers showed up right on schedule. They were friendly and fast. I had one section where the tack strip had gotten wet, they replaced this section for me without any extra cost. The three installers removed the old carpet and installed the new in a large basement, including the stairs, and including moving a pool table in just under 4-hours. A lot of our neighbors have also had similar good experiences with Clawes Carpets in Bristow, VA.

Amazing. That's the kind of job Clawes just did for us (we used their store on Union Mill). Their crews turned out to be fine craftsmen who paid close attention to detail and demonstrated great pride in their work. We actually contracted with Clawes for a variety of improvements: hardwood floors, carpeting, refinishing and staining a staircase, adding granite countertops, and installing a tile backsplash. All of the projects were completed by Clawes employees, with the exception of the granite, which was done through Clawes and Blue Isle Granite. Everything was done beautifully, and even a few very minor problems at the end (a protruding nail, a door that wasn't trimmed enough) were dealt with quickly and professionally. The staff was polite and very easy to work with throughout the process. We would definitely return to Clawes for any flooring needs, and would highly recommend them to others.

I needed to replace carpet in my basement that had to be removed due to water damage. I contacted Clawes based on the sheer amount of positive reviews and experiences of other Angie's List members as well as their experience. In addition to the new carpet (which was being covered - mostly - by insurance), I had them replace a corner area of the basement with vinyl tile. They provided me with several different estimates for both carpet only (to submit to insurance) and for carpet and tile (which I actually did). Although I did not get other estimates to compare prices, based on conversations with a neighbor and with the insurance agent, I know their price is very reasonable and as such I didn't have any problem hiring them directly without getting other estimates. I was very pleased with them and the work they did for me. I had a great experience from estimate through installation and was very happy I chose them. The next time I need carpet or tile, they will be the first company I call.

We went to Clawes and they sent out someone to measure the floors. That was done in great detail. We then purchased carpeting. The folks at Clawes are extremely helpful in selecting the best carpeting for your needs. The installers arrived on time and worked efficiently. We have a large U-shaped desk, which they moved without issue. They asked questions when they were unsure of our preferences (such as removing a runner in one of the closets.) All in all, a very professional experience.

This is a great family-run company, with fair prices, and with employees that have the skills for more complicated projects. I very much appreciated the personal attention as well from Roy and his family as we worked out the pricing and details - they were very patient, friendly, knowledgeable, and made sure I was completely comfortable with the terms. Many of the companies I considered wouldn't even attempt this type of project and the ones that would didn't inspire much confidence or charged too much. Clawes was very up front with us, saying we would be able to tell a slight difference simply due to new shiny wood versus older wood that has lost some of its luster (even though it was an exact match to our current wood). Well, it turned out beautifully and I'm very happy with the results!! People who don't know we had new flooring installed don't even notice until we point it out :) We got exactly what was promised to us and Clawes made the experience a very pleasant one. As an aside, I've also used them in the past for installation of flooring in the kitchen of our previous home; they did a good job then as well!

Very disappointing overall. They were nice and professional to deal with in the store and over the phone while we were making our selections. Heard them say "we're a family business, you'll be well taken care of" several times, when we asked questions, so we felt comfortable that they'd follow through and do a good job. Unfortunately, the installation was rushed and shoddy. Apparently we got their best guy too. They called the evening before our installation to let us know that the previous job had run over because the customer hadn't prepared properly, so they wouldn't arrive until 11am in the morning, but stated they'd still get the job done in one day. They were here late into the evening - had obviously been told to make sure it was done that day, but the quality of their work clearly suffered greatly because of that. There are too many issues to list here; didn't order enough carpet so had to come back two weeks later, visible seams, rough edges, damaged drywall (didn't tell me until after they'd patched it) and baseboards (which they did not repair), left nails sticking up in every door threshold (repaired 3 of the 4 thresholds when they came back), threw away every doorstop so we had to buy and install new ones, didn't screw subfloor down properly in many areas in the bedrooms so they're still squeaky, somehow managed to create a huge squeak on one of the basement stairs (they accused my wife of lying about this particular issue too), etc, I could go on. Spoke to owner Roy afterwards, and rather than put it right, he opted to send us a gift card for $50. He admitted that that particular installer is over-scheduled and they've since taken steps to correct that. Unfortunate that they've opted not to take steps to correct the issues we've been left with. We were very close to ordering 1200 sq ft worth of hardwood at the same time as the carpet. Clawes will not be getting that business now.

First of all, working with Claws Carpets has been a pleasure from day one. I picked them because of their consistently great reviews on Angie's List. In response to my email, Bobby came out to our townhouse to determine what needed to be done to fix our wall-to-wall carpet, which was buckling, and squeaky floor underneath. We also asked him to inspect our wood flooring in our living/dining rooms. Roy was refreshing to deal with, pointing out even more issues with the carpeting, given his expert eye, and counseling us to live with the wood flooring since we are only staying five more years in the townhouse - he meticulously inspected the wood flooring, pointing out issues for our consideration. He was also honest that the carpet work was not something they could do right away, given their current busy schedule with their carpet crews. He promised to provide an estimate on the carpet/floor repair and to get us scheduled as soon as possible. We were so impressed that three days later (a Saturday), we drove over to their Braddock Road store and met Roy, his younger brother. Our intent was to look at wood floor options, recognizing that we would have to wait on the carpet repairs - we had already been impressed enough to wait till later in the year. Roy was wonderful to work with as well. He showed us flooring options, taking into account our requirements and budget. We discussed the carpet repairs and Roy was able to schedule us for a couple of weeks after our visit, stating he would put his best team on the job. Clawes' installers and teams have all been with the company for a long time - i can attest their workmanship, punctuality, and attitudes are all outstanding. We spent an hour in the store with Roy and his store manager and decided that Clawes was the right company to replace our wood floor as well (that is scheduled for January 2016 to accommodate our schedule). Clawe's team arrived within the one hour window today and immediately toured each room with my wife, noting each issue, and then got promptly to work. They moved heavy furniture, pulled up carpeting, screwed down the flooring, replaced padding in some places, replaced tack sticks, reinstalled and power stretched the carpet, replaced the furniture and cleaned up. The only sign that they had been in our house were the perfect looking carpets and zero sqweaks as we walked the floors. We could not be happier and look forward to the wood floor installation in January. Thank you Bobby and Roy.

I don't think it gets any better than Clawes Carpet when it comes to flooring needs. We had some major issues with another company laying a floating floor and since Roy came out to give an estimate he actually came back out to investigate what was wrong with the OTHER installers work. Not only did he come out for that, he was extremely nice and knowledgeable. This is a family owned business that is growing and now I know why. When we had Roy come out to give us an estimate on the new carpet we wanted in your family room he was very professional and encouraged me to come into their friendly store to look at the samples. I took a couple samples home and even some padding. They let me keep them for a week before returning so my wife and I could talk it over. The carpet we picked was a little bit more expensive than other companies, but Clawes power stretches the carpet when they install. The other thing they did was ensure the transition piece was meeting our expectations from tile to carpet, great there! 2 weeks after we had it installed I spilled mustard on the light carpet, well Roy had his team come out and clean the carpet to avoid me putting in a claim with Shaw. Roy also gave me some free cleaner to clean up the spot. What a great company and local business. These guys are the real deal. No need to look elsewhere, they are nice and have a wide variety of carpet and hardwood to choose from. A+!

I called Clawe's Carpets (Friday, Aug. 21). I was interested in having measurements done for carpet removal and installation. They agreed to send out Roy, who came on Saturday (Aug. 22) morning to measure the townhouse. He updated me about his estimated arrival time and was professional and thorough, as well as friendly. So everything so far was good and I was hoping to get them to install my carpet. However, things from there went downhill as I never received follow-ups on price quotes for the install. There was no sense of urgency (or even a desire to do the job) shown based on the fact that I had to keep calling for quotes but never received follow-ups. My wife and I went into the store the following Monday to select a carpet. Granted, it was 20 minutes before closing (we work in DC and the store is in Fairfax) so we quickly selected a carpet (we were out of the store in time and didn't make anyone stay there past closing time). The sales rep in the store was very rushed and printed out a quote for us, which appeared to be for the wrong rooms. Because Roy did the measurement, she said she should check with him and he would give us a call the next day. The next day came and went and he never called. I then called again later that week (on Thursday I believe) asking her if Roy was going to call me. He didn't call until I followed up again a week or two later. This time, he spoke with me, said he would get the quote for the right rooms, and then call back from 6-7 PM. I awaited his call and never received a call or voicemail. I gave up, because I didn't have time to try to track them down if they weren't interested. I can't vouch for their work, which I'm sure is great, but unfortunately I didn't have the chance to work with them. Their showroom and selection of carpet looked nice.

It did not go very well. When it was installed on 24 April, 2015, the two rolls of the carpet did not match. Also, there were problems with the installment of the carpet. The installment crew was not experienced with installing woolen carpets. They did not bring sliders for furniture and the piano (for which there was an extra $50.00 charge). They dragged the piano across the new carpet, thereby causing creases. Because they did not have sliders or mats to protect the wooden floors right next to the piano, they could not slide it onto the wooden floor as had been planned. The edges of the carpet were not ?tagged? properly under adjacent wood floor, skirting boards, and metal strip (by the door). I was left with "bubbles" and creases in the carpet. When I pointed out the mismatch of two halves of the carpet, the installment crew told me to dim the light and it would not be obvious. Clawes cooperated when I called them, but did not find it necessary to send someone over. Instead they asked me to sent pictures of the mismatched carpet and problems I had pointed out, which I did. They agreed immediately that it was a manufacturing problem and re-ordered. Six weeks later, with the new carpet and new dates set, the same problem was repeated albeit with more experienced crew. At that point, we decided that we do not want that particular carpet anymore and we ordered a different carpet altogether. This carpet was finally installed in August, almost five months after I had placed the first order, and of living with boxes and taking three days off from work. We like the carpet, but it was not our first choice.

Absolutely wonderful. The entire process from help picking out the right carpet in their show room to their staff arriving promptly with everything needed to do the job was first rate. The install team introduced themselves and then went to work. They were careful, responsive, and fully committed to getting the job done right and they went above and beyond to ensure everything was cleaned up and restored. Very happy with both the quality of the install and the quality of the carpet.

Excellent!! Demolition and trash removed in just more than an hour - new work completed and all cleaned up as scheduled/predicted.The four man crew were true professionals. Very high quality workmanship with great attention to detail.I think they even picked up some of the trash that wasn't a result of the work they performed. Would definitely have the Clawes team back again for any flooring and carpet needs. Great advice and consulting. Fantastic delivery and installation. A Plus all around.

Clawes has been a great company to deal with over the years. They did a beautiful job installing carpet over one full level of my house. They also do a thorough job cleaning carpets. Their prices are very reasonable, especially considering the high quality of their work. And their service is courteous, professional, prompt, and friendly.

They did a terrific job. Per our request, the area rug goes all the way to the wall. The installers measured the carpet perfectly, were incredibly careful with the binding, and spent extra time ensuring the fit was just right. They cleaned up everything when they were done, and vacuumed the rug. They could not have been nicer, and the work was so good I just called Clawes this morning about installing laminate flooring in another part of our house. If you need a carpet, Clawes is highly recommended!

We had new carpet installed throughout the house with the exception of the dining room where they installed hardwood. From the initial estimate in their office to the last day of installation, they were top notch. We could not be more pleased. I was dreading the thought of the dust and mess but I didn't need to worry. They vacuumed as they went and put all our furniture back exactly as we requested. The carpet seams are invisible! We will definitely be recommending them to everyone we know.

We had the best business experience we have ever had at Clawes Carpets. Clawes care about the customer and about doing an excellent job. I would definitely go back whenever we need flooring in other rooms in our house. This is the best place ever, if you ever need flooring. Absolutely highly recommend Clawes!

I'm so glad that I checked Angie's List prior to shopping for carpet with my son for his condo. Clawe's was highly rated and after our experience I can see why. The sales person was extremely helpful in the store. We knew somewhat what we wanted but she walked us through the selection process. She helped us narrow our choice to two types of carpet that met both our price point and durability concerns. We were able to schedule the appointment for the estimate very quickly. Roy was running late but called to let my son know so he wasn't left waiting. He also helped my son in his final carpet choice sharing his experience with high traffic areas and such. Installation went very smoothly. The seams where the carpet had to be pieced are well placed and not noticeable unless you know where to look. We had a contractor replace the linoleum floors in the kitchen, bath and entry with tile. Apparently he didn't install the appropriate transition threshold. This was completed after the estimate was done and before installation. The Clawes' installation crew didn't have the correct trim pieces but Roy worked with my son to get the right thresholds and installed them at no cost to my son. We are extremely pleased with final product and feel comfortable recommending them to others. I most definitely will use them when I replace the carpet in my home. Thanks Clawes!

The sales consultant, Elizabeth, was helpful. She explained their different tiers of carpeting and even explained why I should be careful when buying more expensive softer carpets, because they tend to wear/flatten faster given my situation (kids and pets). The installation crew showed up on time and did a pretty fast/good job. There is one seam that you can still see, but Roy Clawes came out himself (bringing coffee for us!) to inspect the seam issue and is making arrangements to get that fixed soon. All in all, the carpet turned out great.

No high pressure sales tactics. Elizabeth was very helpful. We were advised throughout the process by Katherine, Jennifer, and Peter as to when the carpet would be installed. They sent two installers who identified themselves and were very efficient, courteous and cleaned up well afterwards. The workmanship was excellent. Making our decision to deal with a family owned business was a correct one.

While laminate was installed correctly they failed to order sufficient quantity of the laminate and this delayed the installation. In installing the laminate they damaged the paint on the floor molding, which had just been painted. Therefore, it had to be redone at additional cost to me. Their banging also caused a painting to crash to the floor and scattered glass all over the floor. The carpeting was installed correctly and on time.
