Description of Work: We had Clawes Carpets install all new flooring in our small townhouse. Bobby helped us pick out beautiful laminate for the downstairs and carpet for the upstairs. He also did the measure and even checked out the subfloor upstairs to make sure there was no damage. The other gentlemen at the Union Mill office were very helpful as well. The install of both flooring went very well - a little over a half day each! We are loving our new floors - Thank you CLAWES! We may even have them back out in future to help us refresh our bathroom.

Description of Work: They cleaned four rooms' carpeting, plus many steps and a hallway. The two men cleaned two large pieces of furniture, as well. They even cleaned our pet steps! On-time, quite fast, very courteous and the carpet and furniture looked great when they were through.

Description of Work: Clawes installed carpet throughout my home. They came in the designated time frame, were professional, courteous, hardworking. They finished a half day early, but did not cut corners... unless the wall required it! (lol)

Description of Work: Wonderful. I had the carpet replaced in my 3-story townhouse (so, lots of stairs). The carpet was AnsoNylon Texture at $40.84 per sq/yd; the house is 161.33 sq/yd - material was about $5540, labor was about $1050. The carpet was replaced while the house was vacant. The trick was that I was living in Colorado at the time, moving back to Virginia, so this work was done before I returned to the area. I selected Clawes Carpets based solely on their Angie's List reviews, and they did great. I did not compare prices, I simply selected Clawes and worked with them because I felt comfortable they would do a good job, even if I wasn't physically in the area to keep an eye on them. Now I am in the house and the carpet is wonderful! The installation is top-notch and my correspondence (phone & e-mail) with Clawes has been prompt and professional. Would definitely recommend them to others.

Description of Work: They have lovely products at good prices. The sales people are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. However, service leaves something to be desired. We had new hardwood floors put in and ordered area rugs to be in at the same time. The order was forgotten and had to be placed after our floors were in so there was wear and tear that would not have happened if they had been ordered in time and we had to move the furniture a second time :-(

Description of Work: Removed old tile shower and installed new tile shower pan and tiled walls and floor in bathroom. They were very easy to work with and understanding of our needs and desires. They were flexible on the start date and worked throughout the weekend as needed to complete work in a non-disruptive manner. They had done all of the flooring work in my house (carpeting and hardwood) and I hadn't really thought of them for bathroom and tile until they showed up on Angies List. I would definitely recommend them.

Description of Work: We wanted our basement (maybe 700 square feet) floor redone with tile and carpet. We had a small office and the stairs carpeted, and the rest of the floor covered in Congoleum Duraceramic tile. The carpet was done in a half day, and the tile took about a full day. The floor looks great, the work was done right on time, and the workers were polite and cleaned up after themselves. They showed up on time, too. They pulled up and disposed of the old carpet, and moved the large furniture so we didn't have to bother with it. Overall, excellent work and a pleasant experience.

Description of Work: Installed vinyl sheet goods in a basement shop. The job was fairly complex, involving two storage closets, a utility area (furnace/water heater) and main floor area. This entire area was covered by a single sheet of vinyl, with no seams whatever! Great work. | |PS: They also needed to smoothly finish the existing concrete floor before installing the vinyl -- they also did this part of the job perfectly.

They're knowledgeable about their products & go out of their way to please the client. We are confident that the installation will go well.

We obtained another quote from another highly-rated company on Angie's List and Clawes' bid was significantly less.

[Sorry Angies List - but I use Checkbook too.] Clawes Carpet is a local family-run business that delivers a quality product and a quality installation at a good value. I'd use them again in a heartbeat. |There was a horrible screw-up after the first order was placed and the carpet distributor announced that the style had been discontinued a month earlier - but had not notified Clawes. They made amends by letting me pick another style and giving me the color I wanted as a custom color at no additional charge. Messes happen. It is how they are handled that can be very telling. In this case, it is a good story. | |I lost a lot of time with the delays [2 orders and custom color carpet is not made every day]. I had to live with a visually disrupted upstairs as the existing carpet had been ripped up at the edges so that the walls could be properly painted. For that inconvenience, Clawes kept the discount I received due to the size of the order intact, even though the new style carpet was less than the first by $2K. Again, very fair treatment. |With all the delays, the main reason I did not bolt and go somewhere else was due to the salesperson I dealt with - Elisabeth. She is just about the perfect salesperson. She pays attention to details. She tries to think ahead about what might go wrong and see to it that does not occur. I probably had the most detailed order form Clawes had produced in a while but I do not like surprises. Elisabeth graciously accepted my compulsiveness and made sure that every item was in each of the 2 contracts. Nothing was "lost". Nothing was left to chance if at all possible. She kept in touch with me while the carpet was in production and being shipped; and when it arrived at the Clawes warehouse. She did her best to ensure that Roy Clawes was on hand at the start of installation as "promised" in the contract. And she may have a bad mood, but I never, ever saw her in one. She is a delight to work with. |She also recommended the best team to do the installation, which was headed by Edgar. Roy Clawes came out at the start of the job and went over the room sizes with Edgar. They also went over the contract terms so that the transition from sales to installation was seamless. While Edgar went off to the warehouse to cut the new carpet, his team of three arrived and began to move furniture and take out the existing carpet and padding. They take it out in rolls about 3 feet wide and no more than a foot in diameter. I did not install new door bumpers after the room painting so that there was no chance of their being damaged during carpet installation. To protect my walls, Edgar's crew wrapped the door knobs in carpet padding! They left my walls in great shape. No touch up was need on them. |The team members took their shoes off in the house and put them on each time they left to take carpet out or bring the newly cut pieces in. They are a precision team. |De-squeaking the floors was part of the contract. Edgar put major screws in about every 2 inches or so on almost every seam between the sheets of plywood sub-flooring. My house is quiet for the first time in years! |Only the baseboards needed some touch up and Clawes agreed to cover that with my painter and my paint - which is costly. |I went "local" [they are about 2 minutes from my house] and I am so glad I did. I recommend them without reservation.

Description of Work: Removed 1 layer of old vinyl flooring in Kitchen & Laundry Room, nailed down wood sub-flooring and installed Alterna Carrera Marbly Grey vinyl tile with grout. |Two problems: 1. Order called for sub-floor to be screwed down with screws every 6 inches. They nailed it! (2) Estimator called back to up the estimate considerably because he said he made an error in his calculations.
