This is the second time I used them. They gave us samples to take home. They had to order the carpet and things so the project took about three weeks. One day I had a doctors appointment and they cleared their schedule so that they could come in earlier instead. They are nice people to work with. They remembered my first name, which I really appreciated.

In general, the carpet and hardwood replacement work went well. Same was true for the stair refinishing, which was done after the flooring was installed. We were advised beforehand that the ceramic tear-out would be very noisy and very dusty (despite best efforts, it can't be avoided), and they were right. We found it necessary to be out of the house due to the jackhammer noise. I think they also found the ceramic removal more difficult than expected (lesson learned: they'll avoid this type of work in future), but they did do a good job of it. Also, we found it necessary to be out of the house for the 4-day stair sanding/refinishing since we couldn't use them to get to our bedroom and bath.

These people were very helpful in assisting us in selecting carpets and in providing samples for us to take home and check. They were punctual, both in arriving at the scheduled time to measure the rooms and in subsequently showing up to install the carpet. The installation proceeding smoothly and in a no-nonsense fashion. The crew showed up on time, went about removing the furniture, removing the old carpet and pad, installing the new pad and carpet, and placing the furniture where we ask them to place it. We later noticed a small problem with the installation, called to discuss it, and had the problem corrected within a couple of hours.

The installation was efficient and went smoothly. The workers are very experienced. Good cleanup at the end.

I went into Clawes' Clifton store because I happened to be having lunch next door. I didn't intend to actually use their services because I didn't think they'd work in the District, but luckily, they do. The salesman (Jose Gonzales) was very helpful and helped me pick out various samples. I'm getting my condo ready to sell and wanted something that would make my place show well, but not cost too much. Jose didn't try to sell me anything too pricey--in fact he helped me select a carpet a few samples that were far less expensive than I expected. The estimate went very well-Bobby Clawes was very helpful and, again, helped me select an affordable option that looked great. Besides paying a lower price than I expected, the installation was the best part. I live in downtown DC. The installer said they'd be at my place between 8 and 9 a.m. I assumed there was NO chance that an installer, accustomed to doing work almost exclusively in VA, would get to DC during rush hour, on time. They got to my place at 8:20--I was stunned. In addition to being punctual, they were very professional--that is, they worked quickly and did a great job. It's been over two months and the carpet looks great--I still can barely see the seams. Basically, from the sales staff, to the estimate, to installation, they were very friendly, helpful, easy to work with, professional, and kept their promises (I know that's something we should expect people to do, but in my experience, it almost never happens). I will absolutely use Clawes again and have recommended them to my sister, who lives in Fairfax.

Clawes Carpets, which has showrooms in Burke, VA and Centreville, VA, brings carpet samples to your home so you can match colors. They install quickly and on time. They have very competitive prices. We originally used them to carpet a home 10 years ago that we were selling. Recently we brought them back for this job. Clawes is a family owned and operated store. The people are very nice and know their business. the carpet they installed is much better than the top builder grade that came with the house. I think they use a better padding under the carpet. It feels luxurious to walk on.

The personalized service was excellent! Clawes provided a nice variety of carpeting options and samples that would fit my office decor. Throughout the selection process, I was well advised of how each of my carpeting choices would respond to foot traffic in our office. I narrowed my choices down to 3 commercial choices, and happily, my first choice ended up being the least expensive. The installers came promptly on time on the date of the install. When the old glued carpeting was pulled up, we unexpectedly found 3 layers of laminate tiling (that had been installed over the last 50 years) coming up with it, leaving quite a bit of unevenness in the subflooring. Roy came to survey the situation, and instructed his installers to fully patch the entire space so that the floors were smooth. The next day, they were able to install the carpeting as planned -- and they look great. The workers were very professional and they cleaned up after themselves. Even though this unexpected hitch came up, Clawes dealt with it very professionally. Clearly, the subflooring issues involved more work than they had expected, but I was pleased that the job still fell within the original estimate. I highly recommend Clawes Carpets to anyone. They are very easy to work with, and would gladly use them again.

I was referred to Clawes by one of their customers and met with Tim out in Vienna on at least 3 occasions. He walked me through a number of options, was very patient with our numerous questions and changes and provided great suggestions. Roy also was actively involved from measuring the house, to double and triple checking everything was okay and to being personally on site during the installation. I very much appreciate them going the extra mile to make sure the work was done correctly.

Clawes was extremely helpful from the very beginning. This is our first house so we solicited many bids and chose Clawes because not only were they the least expensive, but they were also the most helpful. Roy came out promptly to give us an estimate and was able to provide a price right on the spot. He then worked with us to choose the various materials and colors. A few days before the installation Roy and a co-worker came to the house to pull up and take away the old carpet free of charge. On day one of the installation the team arrived on time and was very professional. They finished all of the work in two days and left the house spotless. Roy called the following day to follow up and make sure we were happy with the finished product. Throughout our whole experience we felt very comfortable with Clawes, they were easy to reach and promptly responded to all of our questions. We will be using them again for our bathroom floors in the future.

The people at Clawes Carpets (Fairfax location) were an absolute pleasure to work with, professional, friendly, and helpful. We got a few estimates in the northern Virginia area and although they weren't the absolute cheapest per square yard, they were close, plus, they were able to complete the job with less material so Clawes ended up being the most affordable. Additionally, from talking with the folks at Clawes, we had more confidence in them than with any other company we were considering. They know their stuff and they go out of their way to help. Chuck came out and did a thorough job of measuring the areas. Not only did he create a clear installation diagram for their installers, but his layout was more efficient (thus allowing us to save on material) than other companies. Their installers were quick and did excellent work. I will be using them for my bathroom floors as well.

They did an excellent job; showing up when they promised, moving and putting back furniture, removal of old carpet...etc. I would highly recommend them.

They showed up on time. The worked very efficently. They cleaned up well after themsleves. They did beautiful work. They caused very little inconveinience to us. They did all the moving to do the floors and were very careful nothing was in the way to cause and accident. They also were careful in not causing any damage to any walls or anything.

They did a very good job. They came when they said that they were going to come. We were very pleased and would use them again. They are a great group of people and are very knowledgeable about their business.

Bobby Clawes came to our house to measure the area. He was quite helpful, e.g., explained how light would affect the appearance of the carpet. He then went on to tell me about the high quality of installation we would receive because their workers were the most experienced in the business. The guys who actually showed up appeared to be in their late 20's to early 30's. Their work, however, was very good except for a noticeable seam between the living and dining rooms. When I phoned Bobby about this, he came over immediately. He said that the seam was due to "peaking" and that it would even out with traffic. He used a steamer and a hammer to approximate the effect of traffic, and that reduced the rise in the seam. He told me that the workers who came all had 10 or more years experience. The workers had no vacuum, and ours was broken. We ended up with fluff balls on the carpet. A minor matter but an annoyance. These comments should perhaps be reflected in "professionalism" rather than in "quality of work." Make sure that every detail of the contract (including the names of the workers, the weight of the padding, the clean up, etc.) is included on the tag for the work.

Very good experience. Called before he arrived. Arrived on time, completed work in minimal time and cleaned up his mess. What else can you ask for?

Fantastic. They were the best, plain and simple. Fast efficient and friendly. The sales people were great, the installers were professional. I sold that home and plan on using these guys for any future installation.

They were great to work with. They provided guidance on flooring selection, allowed us to check out samples on several occasions and gave an accurate estimate. They were very nice about responding to our request to move the installation to an earlier date when other work in our home ran ahead of schedule. The installation went just as expected with no problems. The new floor looks terrific.

Everything went well. However, they ran out of material and had to return three day later. Owner came over to apologize for the delay and gave us a gift certificate to a local restaurant group for our inconvenience.

THE STAFF AT CALWES IS VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE, AND PROFESSIONAL. WE WILL CERTAINLY RETURN FOR FUTURE FLOORING UPDATES. WE RECOMMEND THIS STORE TO ANYONE SEARCHING FOR FLOORING.

SERVICE WAS EXCELLENT. THEY INSTALLED FLOORING IN 4 ROOMS WITHIN MY HOME, AND THEY DID AN EXCELLENT JOB. I WOULD USE THEM AGAIN, AND REFER THEM TO OTHERS AS WELL.
