I found Clawes on Angie's list and called them for an estimate. Roy Clawes showed up precisely on time and he brought samples so that I could more easily match the floor to the existing wood trim. His company was able to install the floor on my timeline and they completed installation in two days. My new renter is very happy with the work and with the way that the floor looks. Update: The installation went so smooth I had Clawes complete the rest of the townhouse in the same laminate flooring. They worked with the renter's timeline and did a fantastic job. They seamlessly integrated the new install with the previous work and you cannot tell the flooring was put down about a year apart. Truly outstanding.

The workers from Clawes Carpets were excellent. They came out and did an estimate. I went in and looked at samples and they gave me a good sale. They were very quick. They scheduled me in within a couple of weeks. The job took only about 2 hours. They were very quick and they cleaned up very well. I would use them again.

We had a great experience with these guys. Bobby was very professional. He came out twice all the way to our home in Ashburn to show samples for our hardwood flooring. First time around, he had samples but did not match exactly what we had and we told him he doesn't need to come all the way if he was certain of the matching sample but he still did just to make sure. He worked very h****** getting us the estimate for an already damaged hardwood flooring. The guys who came out to work were very professional and the end result is beautiful!

They are very attentive and have excellent pricing. They will beat other competitors prices by 15%. It is locally owned family business and are overall excellent. Their installers are courteous and clean and know what they are doing. They are very professional.

They arrived around 9 am and estimated they would be done by 4:30pm. They removed the old flooring and sub-floor in the powder room and bathrooms. They put the new flooring and subflooring down in the kitchen on top of the existing flooring. They showed us how the transitions would work for our kitchen to hard wood flooring and got our approval to proceed. They cleaned up afterwards and there was nothing left for us to do but move the furniture back. They did an outstanding job and we are very pleased with the work.

This company provides excellent customer service. They were very responsive, worked with me to get an exact match to my existing floors at the best price, and followed up with me to make sure I was happy with the services provided. A large team came out to do my installation and worked hard to complete my project in two days, the time-frame that was estimated for the job. The team did an excellent job with the carpet removal and hardwoods installation, including removing and replacing furniture as well as sweeping and cleaning up after themselves each day. I did have a minor problem in that I noticed a defective board a couple days after the job was completed. When I called Clawes about the problem they immediately came out to look at it and were able to fix it within a couple of days without a problem. This company is genuinely concerned with customer satisfaction and this attitude was apparent in all of their employees that I worked with. I highly recommend them.

They did exactly what they said they were going to do. They are very busy but did a good job and they have very nice people.

Absolutely marvelous. The tile crew came one day; the carpet crew came on another. The tile crew returned the following week to replace a refrigerator water line connector that broke while prepping the refrigerator to move, and to fill the screw holes in the kitchen threshold, and adjust the kitchen door to the backyard (which turned out not to be a tile issue at all). In addition, the tile crew re-glued a section of cove base in the basement that had become unstuck. The two-man carpet crew did the whole thing in about 5 hours, including moving beds, bookcases, nightstands and dressers in the bedrooms and basement. The result is absolutely perfect.

The crew show up at my house about 8:30 AM as promised. They did a very neat job,however, I wished they use vacuum cleaner rather than a broom.

They were good and prompt. They showed up with a large crew and they did the job remarkably fast. They thought that the work was going to take two days but they did it in a day, which was good. When they realized that they could get it done in a day, they didn?t even stop for lunch. There was a language problem but one of the guys could speak English fairly well. They were priced considerably lesser than everybody else.

With two active children growing up and a variety of dogs.. the carperts were in dire need of replacement. We initially called another company who advertises extensively on TV -- they were prompt. But, seemed to want to push us to a contract right away.... Having learned from experience, we fought the urge to sign on the spot and then started to research how to purchase carpets. After becoming familiar with the terminology and practices involved, we searched for recommendations. Our neighbors, co-workers and friends were polled. Finally, we decided to check Angie's list and found Clawes highly recommended. Another member-based rating service also had Clawes highly recommended. We went to their Fairfax showroom on a Saturday afternoon. We were greeted at the door by a sales person who began by making sure we understood the differences in types of carpeting available on the market. Soon after that Theresa and Roy both got involved in consulting with us. We decided on three different carpets for different areas of the house -- the family room, the office/formal living room/dining room, and the upstairs (including the stairs and hallway). A couple of days later, Roy personally came out to the house and took the measurements. He worked up a price an gave me a quote broken down by area the next day. While I was already quite impressed with Clawes at this point, I needed to do some price comparisions before starting. So, I took one of the areas quoted by Roy and looked for identical bids from other sources. Although I could have purchased the carpeting itself from a wholesaler in GA for a lesser price per yard, when I factored in removing the old carpet and laying the new carpet there wasn't a big difference. I went to another vendor on Angies list. They quoted me a price that was $400 higher for just the one area of the house. (Identical carpet). In the end we went with Clawes. Since it was a big job, the sent one crew to tear up the old carpet and lay down the odor neutralizing paint on one day. The installers came a couple of days later. Everything went okay until the installer realized that there was an error in the total yardage needed. After speaking with Roy they made up the difference with a different carpet AT NO EXTRA CHARGE to me.. the replacement carpet was actually a higher quality carpet than what we ordered. We would highly recommend Clawes for anyone's flooring needs. They live up to their reputation. You can't go wrong with them in our opinoin..

Went into the store and immediately saw the carpet type and color I wanted, they came the next day and measured, gave me my Angies' discount. I had to wait a couple of weeks for the carpet to come in but then it was installed very quickly. They were polite, moved all the furniture and put it back. The carpet looks lovely and I couldn't be more pleased.

After shopping around and getting several quotes, we decided to purchase our new carpet from Clawes Carpet in Fairfax. From the beginning, it was an excellent customer experience. The salesperson in the store was extremely helpful and was able to match the color and pile of our other wall-to-wall carpet almost exactly. Their representative came out to measure our rooms a couple of days later and a quote was provided the following day. The price was good and included an upgraded carpet pad. We were in a time crunch to get the new carpet in by a deadline and they were able to work us into the schedule within a matter of days. The installers arrived on time and were quick and professional. They removed and disposed of the old carpet for no additional cost. And when they left, everything was neat and clean. I will definitely use this company again and highly recommend them!

They responded quickly with an estimate onsite (many other places made me wait while for a saleperson to call me back with an estimate, which is a problem when it needs to be done quickly). Clawes was able to get the work done in a very tight timeframe to fit my schedule. The carpet looks great and the installation was perfect. Also, they are extremely respnse on the phone to any questions or concerns--one of the advantages of dealing with a small family outfit, as opposed to major hardware wharehouse contractor.

We were extremely happy with this company from start to finish. We worked directly with the founder's son, Bobby and he was so knowledgeable. He steered us towards the sale items that were great buys with good value. He pointed out items that were not worth the expense, and he bent over backwards to help us prepare the house for the new carpet. A week before the install, Bobby personally came out and "trenched" our entire house so that we could paint the trim before installing carpet. Overall, an excellent experience and I would recommend highly. In fact, I have already recommended Clawes to my parents. In addition, in the past we have purchased and installed carpet through Home Depot. It was hard to get someone on the phone and the installation was shoddy. Clawes was the exact opposite and we spent less!

We visited their showroom and received first class help in determining what type of carpet was best for us (we have two dogs) and what we could expect to spend. Roy came out to take the measurements and provided us with a estimate within a few days. It took less than two weeks for both the tile and carpet to be installed between order and completion. Clawes uses a subcontractor for tile but don't be concerned, Paul and Sean are wonderful and went out of their way to meet our schedules. As for the carpet installation, it took less than 90 minutes and Ben and his crew were exceptional. Very polite, quick, and they cleaned up everything. By the time they left all the furniture was back in place and it looked as though the carpet had been there all along. Roy was great at letting us know of where things stood and keeping us up-to-date on how everything was progressing. We highly recommend them and will certainly be going back to Clawes Carpet for any future needs.

Excellent service and excellent value. They are responsive to the customer's need -- Roy Clause is the best -- Not only is he a charming gentleman, but he is incredibly knowledgeable about his business, makes use of the most up to date techniques, provided a reasonable and on-target estimate, then even adjusted the installation schedule to meet move-in needs of the returning owners. Clawes is an outstanding company and I will use them again!

This whole process was a wonderful experience. I started with this company because I found them on Angies' list. I initially went to the store to look as samples and even took a few home for about a week. After asking some questions and getting some concrete answers (what type of padding, what kind of carpet works well with a pet); I then scheduled someone to come out to measure and give me an estimate (based off one of the samples I had previously brought home). I had the estimate within a couple of hours of having this company out to my house. they order the carpet and within a week had called me to tell me that the shipment had arrived and set up an appointment for that Friday to have the work done. They gave me a 2 hour window - and while they did show up after the appointed time, they did call to tell me they were on there way (only semi-negative experience I had). The work was completed even sooner then they had told me (originally told me it would take 3-4 hours and it only took 2 1/2 hours!!). They removed all of the old carpet and padding and did an excellent job of cleaning up and moving the furniture back into place. (BTW - they move all the heavy furniture and all you have to do is move the smaller things. Everyone I dealt with was professional from the sales people, to the person doing the scheduling and placing the order to the installers. I also liked the fact that I dealt with the same few people repeatedly instead of having someone new everytime I called or went by the store.

At first we went to Home Depot, who insisted they send someone out for an estimate which was non-refundable. They spent about ten minutes measuring and gave us an estimate of $3200. We decided to check with another company, Clawes Carpet, and they came out to measure the next day. They immediately asked to see out joists and measured according to the way the joists were running (something Home Depot did not do). Clawes gave us an estimate of $2200. Basically, Home Depot was going to charge us more, install the hardwood going the wrong direction, and charge us more. The first time Clawes carpet installed hardwood in our kitchen, entrance hall, and bathroom. The second time we used them they installed hardwood in out living and dining room. This third time we were pressed for time to complete hardwood flooring on our stairs, upstairs hallway, and have the bathroom tiled. Clawes Carpet bent over backwards to meet our deadline. They ordered the materials in record time and were pleasant and always available for questions. Roy routinely stops in on jobs in progress to check on his workers and make sure the customers are completely happy;. Which we are!

Fantastic!!!! First of all, this was the lowest price around for this type of work. Bobby came out and did an estimate the next day, and they were out to do our work within one week. The best part was that the price included all furniture moving which helped us from having to worry about that stress. Before they came to do the work, I spoke to the sales staff (Peter) and owner (Roy) and they were so helpful in making sure I understood what the estimate covered and I even received a 10% discount! The day of, the 4 person team arrived promptly, were extremely courteous, moved quickly and seamlessly through the house to fix all the carpet. They even brought a vacuum to clean up! The entire house only took 1.5 hours to do! I'm extremely happy with the company and the workers and would definitely use them again and would recommend them highly to others.

Our carpeting was about 25 years old. We did some basic online research and went to Home Depot to look at options. We narrowed down our choices for the type, color, and style we wanted. Our research emphasized that installation is key....no matter how nice the carpet. We found Clawes on Angie's List with a top rating and they are 2 miles from our home. We like dealig with a local, family-run small business. They came out to measure and gave us an estimate. They were very punctual, attentive, and we thought the quote was fair and reasonable. As soon as the order came in they intalled...moved furniture, removed and cleaned the floor, laid the new padding and carpet, put back furniture, all in 2 hours, including new edging strips. Perfect, immaculate job.

My wife and I entered this shop with a general feel for the style and color of the carpet we would probably buy. But before anyone asked us any questions, one of the 3 guys in the store tosses a carpet sample to the floor and says it's a great carpet that's on sale. Perhaps it was. But of course it was not close to anything we had in mind. I think they were feeling punchy that day? Anyway, it wasn't professional behavior. After we described what we were looking for, all 3 guys scoured the store to try to find what we wanted - which was nice. And they let us take a sample home with us too - which was VERY useful for us. Thanks! They took the measurements I myself had made (isn't that a little risky?) and we placed the order. Peter, the scheduler, didn't call us on the day we expected his call. After one or two days I called to ask what's up. I'm not sure what the hang-up was, exactly - maybe Peter was ill. But after a couple more days (if I recall), Peter called and we scheduled the installation. Later, we needed to move the installation to later in the day. Peter moved the appointment accordingly. The installation crew was running about 30 minutes late, but they called a little earlier in the day to let us know. We think the actual installation was very well done. (I guess my measurements were ok!) Being the middle of winter, however, I wish they had given a little more attention to keeping my front door closed as they came and went. Bottom line: they didn't exactly win our loyalty. But we're likely to drop in on them again when we're ready to tackle the next room a few months down the road.

Before we went to Clawes, my wife and I went to at least 6 stores in Northern VA and always felt we were getting more of a sales job than any professional assistance. Too much hype and confusing and distorted sounding information about warranty and so forth. We immediately recogized Louis as knowledgable and candid. He gave us clear and understandable explaination of carpet features and warrnties and gave me confidence he knew wht he was talking about. We visited several times before we bought and he was patient and instructive. Later on, Bobby Clawes saw us and did the measurement and gave us some "on-site" advice at the house. Another professional. We have more to do in the house and will definately go back to Clawes.
