Bobby came to our house to perform the measurements. He was very professional and quoted us a reasonable price on the spot. He provided clear information about the work his price covered. The estimate covered all of the necessary services such as removal and haul away of the old materiel, and there were no hidden costs sprung on us later. The installers called to let us know before they arrived, and were neat, clean and courteous. They did a nice job laying the carpet and vinyl floor. I have no complaints and would recommend this company. We have already recommended this company to a neighbor.

The job was completed in two phases. They first replaced all of the carpeting and padding on my second floor(approx 900sqft across 4 bedrooms, hallway and stairs). They did an amazing job and completed it in one day. They removed all of the old carpeting, moved all of the furniture, and fixed all the squeeks in the flooring. I am truly amazed at how much work they did in one day. On the 2nd visit they removed all the existing flooring on my first floor (a combination of tile, carpet and hardwood) and put oak hardwood on the entire floor (approx 800 sqft across 4 rooms, hallway, closet and half bath). They arrived at 830am with 5 guys and were completly finished by 530pm. The flooring looks absolutely amazing and I could not be happier. It makes me smile every day. I highly recommend Clawes for your flooring needs!

Everything went very smoothly. I had a target date of Dec 17 by which time I needed the carpet installed, and they did everything to ensure that would happen. The person who came out to measure was very punctual and professional, and they called me promptly later that day with an estimate. I stopped by the shop to give them my deposit, and the carpet was ordered. They called to let me know that the carpet was in and we scheduled a date and time window for the installation. The installers actually arrived about 15 minutes ahead of time, and they completed the installation in about 2 hours (removing old carpeting, and installing the new with "turn under" vs. encasing the entire stair). I love, love, love my new carpet! It feels plush to walk on, and it's a vast improvement over the cheap carpeting I had before. I highly recommend Clawes, it was great doing business with them, and I will use them again for other carpeting purchases.

Roy came on time (actually early with permission). Very pleasant and friendly. I was impressed with his honesty to admit that he doesn't have the right crew to complete the job right.

The vinyl flooring installation was performed like art work. This was the best installation service we have ever had.

It was a pleasure working with Roy and Teresa. We had to replace some carpet that was damaged this past winter when an ice dam had formed on our roof. We wanted the new carpet to match the existing carpet as much as possible. Roy and Teresa were very knowledgeable and answered all our questions. We were very happy with the results and definitely plan on using Clawes Carpets in the future.

Great experience from start to finish! True professionals who were helpful in the beginning stages (selecting color, pattern, appropriate quality, etc.) and diligent through the end of installation. We are thrilled with the new carpet! Their prices are slightly higher than some budget carpet shops or the big box retailers, but still more competitive than some other family-owned shops that I looked into. With that being said, I'd happily pay a slight premium all over again to get their excellent service and fantastic installation.

We are very pleased with the work Clawes carpet did in two of our homes. The work was completed as scheduled and went very smoothly. In one of our homes they installed the laminate first and the next day the carpet and in the other one, they installed the carpet first and then the laminate. We had four days of consecutive work with Clawes workers and had no problem what-so-ever. Clawes installers were the best! very professional and helpful. Each day, they went right to work as soon as they arrived, ripped out the old carpet, cleaned the dust off the floors before laying the new padding and carpet or the laminate. They are fast and profficient. They helped move the bigger pieces of furniture out of rooms and back if needed. It was a big project and Clawes professional approach made it easier. We will definitely consider using them in the future. Both homes look fabulous!

I am not going into detail, but if you want someone that is professional, and the quality of their work is excellent, then you best call Clawes.

Totally enjoyed working with Teresa Clawes, daughter of original owners of the family-owned business. She is so pleasant and genuinely interested in helping her customers. She had great recommendations and ordered samples that arrived at home within a few days. While Clawes' in-stock displays may be smaller than other area carpet stores, I found carpeting and kitchen flooring that were perfect! Carpet feels wonderful under our feet - and the kitchen floor looks and feels great! Teresa also worked with me to set up installation that fit my timetable. Overall great experience! 6/25/11 It has been a year since Clawe's installed berber-type carpet in our family room, which sees a lot of traffic; and the sheet flooring in the kitchen. Both rooms are heavily used -- both floors still look and feel fabulous! Thank you, Clawes!

Excellent, honest, trustworthy service. A co-owner of the Fairfax location came by to provide an estimate. He and his staff were very patient and understanding as I kept changing my mind (re-floor kitchen and powder room or install hardwood floor upstairs? This meant more than one visit to my townhouse to provide me with an estimate). When I finally decided to re-floor the upstairs, the guys at Clawes put things into motion. A crew of three men came to install the hardwood - they were very focused and diligent workers. They didn't compromise on any phase of the installation, whether it was the unseen quarter round in the back corner of a closet or difficult stairnosing. The only hiccup was we came up about six slats short of finishing the entire job. Clawes Carpets immediately place an order for additional slats and two days later, I had beautiful hardwood flooring throughout. About a week later, I received an informational sheet from them in the mail about how to take care of my new hardwood floors - very nice. Should I ever come around to re-flooring my kitchen and powder room, I will definitely call on them again - no need for me to keep looking around for an excellent flooring company.

Excellent experience. The Clawes family and staff were professional, punctual, dependable and friendly. Teressa offered to come to my house to help me choose colors and I found this very helpful. The family and staff really went out of their way to make me feel important and special. The carpets have worked out well and I am pleased. I did not realize that Clawes also did tile and that is the best part of this story. I accidently found this out and needed a kitchen backsplash. I had many, many estimates on a backsplash but nothing seemed right until I stumbled on this company. The backsplash is the high light of my house and I have had numerous compliments. The other day a friend came over and asked if she could take a picture of my backsplash. It truly is outstanding. I definitely intend to use this company again for tile work in my bathroom.

I could not be more pleased with Clawes quality of installation. They replaced the vinyl flooring in my kitchen, foyer, hall and powder room. The removal of my old floor was much more problem than had been anticipated, but the workers kept at it tirelessly without complaint until the old floor was out. The installation team worked seamlessly together like a well-oiled machine, each knowing their part of the installation process. The final product is nothing short of perfection. The wood molding is beautiful and perfectly cut. Vinyl flooring can be difficult to properly install especially if there are a lot of cuts that must be made, mine required many cuts and they all were perfect. I could not be more impressed or pleased with this company and the quality of their work. Thank you Angieslist for this recommendation!

I simply couldn't have been happier! Clawes is a fantastic company and their level of customer service is unmatched! When Roy came out to give me an estimate, he was hesitant about the job. A couple of weeks prior, because of a flood in my basement, I had cut the carpet to remove the wet padding underneath and to lift up the carpet so it could dry. Apparently, I did not cut it straight and there was a risk that the repair would not go well. Roy explained that I would most likely see the seam because of the way it was cut. I asked him to go ahead and do the best they could. I told him I understood the risks and would not hold them responsible if it wasn't "perfect." Well, Ben came to my house today. He explained the same risks before he got started. An hour later, my carpet is repaired flawlessly and you cannot see where it was originally cut. The job was done superbly! Clawes far exceeded my expectations! GREAT JOB and HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

The Clawes are a family business and we felt that way in dealing with them. Teresa who worked in the store was excellent, very knowledgeable and helped us make our choices with ease. Roy was great in helping us get the best deal possible and getting the installations taken care of. We were extremely happy with their value (we research like there's no tomorrow when it comes to spending a lot of money like this.) The fact that we got great products/services at a great price is wonderful. To have the Clawes and their trustworthiness made everything even better.

Roy and his team is terrific. Great experience from the initial phone call and email exchange, to visiting the store to look at samples, to the measurement at the house, and the two installations (top two floors were done first, basement was done a week later after the carpet inventory came in - it had to be ordered). The carpets were installed within the time frame promised, and the technicians were terrific. I can't see any of the seams - great job installing it. The only thing I wasn't 10000% pleased about was how the carpet was cut in the master bedroom. The carpet was about 3' too narrow to span the MBR in one piece. There is a bump out on one side, and it was very strange to me that they chose to keep that a continuous piece (and to cut out the non-bumped out piece), then piece together the entire stretch on the other side, vs. keeping as much carpet intact as possible and piecing in only the bump out. It looks amazing once they finished, with no seams showing, but I wonder over time if that's an inherent weakness (a seam vs. continuous material) that will show with time and wear. We'll see what happens. Roy won the sale by (a) giving me a better price than his competition, and (b) hustling to call the manufacturer to reserve the material as soon as he completed the measurements. When his competition called, the material wasn't available. Given that he had it reserved and provided the best price, he won the contract.

We were very pleased with the service that Clawes provided. The job they performed cost considerably less than the quotations we had received from 3 other firms. Roy Clawes was the most thorough of all the contractors in explaining the process and the options. The workmen arrived on time; the job took the amount of time they estimated; everything worked out perfectly.

We received several estimates on carpet replacement. Clawes prices were very competitive. They were extremely responsive and communicated with us regularly from start to finish. There was a production delay in one of our carpet choices and Roy Clawes not only worked with the manufacturer to get our carpet installed on time, but was able to convince them to give us an upgraded carpet due to the inconvenience. Everyone I dealt with was responsive and polite. We found a couple of minor issues after installation and they arranged to come back immediately to address them. I would definitely recommend this company.

Have used this company multiple times before. Nice people to work with and they are flexible enough to do just two rooms, and in a short period of time. Good choice of flooring products.

A breath of fresh air!! We visited the Fairfax location of Clawe's Carpets and was met with genuinely friendly owners and staff (especially Teressa and Roy). They believe in customer service!!! No pressure, no sales jibberish, no sale that is really not a sale. We got an estimate in short order. We had 2 bedrooms recarpeted with higher end carpet. We also had hardwoods installed in another bedroom (perfect match). Based on their exemplary performance, we had carpet replaced on our entry stairs. Not an easy job as it was patterned and we have landings. James painstakingly installed the carpet as only an artist could do. I was so surprised that it matched so well that I actually felt for seams because I could not believe it! We decided to order an entry carpet to match the carpet on the stairs--perfect. Bottom line: I would HIGHLY recommend this company to anyone looking for a job well done--the first time.

This was a great experience from start to finish. We intended to sell our townhome to move into a single family unit and needed to replace the entire townhome carpet. When we visited Clawes store, we found the staff the most friendly yet professional of any store we had visited to that point. They know the business. They were able to explain the pros and cons of various carpet brands, styles, and constructions. We felt like we really understood our decision. They explained the potential sales discounts and promotions available. They facilitated our taking samples home, some were ordered and delivered directly to the home. Roy came out to measure and gave us a good estimate. It took us a few months before we were actually ready to do the carpet. Our realtor had recommended several other upgrades in the meantime. Interestingly, Clawes was one of the carpeting companies she recommended. We compared prices with others, and Clawes was essentially the same as other recommended vendors. However, the service was outstandingly better - so it was obvious to go with Clawes. The installation went quickly, less than 7 hours for a 3-level townhome. We had boxed up books and a lot of items ahead of time, the installer crew moved the firniture. It looks fantastic! All in all a great experience. The only thing that happened along the way was a few marks and scratches along the floor moldings here and there. That's a matter of touching up, which we can do, no major problems otherwise. Definitely an outstanding experience overall -- competitive price, but outstanding service.

Service at the store was excellent as they spent time with us to go over the various types of flooring and discuss the cost versus value of each. We scheduled an estimate and were happy with the costs for the product that we were interested in having installed. They told us that they would call to schedule an install date once the wood was available, about the next 2-3 weeks. They called within that time frame and we scheduled an appointment. The install team arrived promptly on the scheduled date and began to work. During the installation the team was considerate and careful with the items in my house and did an excellent job with the flooring. They also did a great job with cleaning up the driveway and yard area where they setup their saws. Overall an excellent job and my wife and I were happy that we chose them for the task.

I had a minor flood in the basement and parts of my carpet had mild water damage. Clawes came out, and did an estimate and recommended a minor repair (instead of trying to sell me new carpet!). He was going to replace all the wet padding that we had pulled out and re-pull and stretch the carpet for only $200! The padding that was originally installed was a different thickness than what he carried, but he decided to special order the right thickness to help me out. He was able to squeeze in an installer a week later and everything looked great after he was done!

We couldn't have asked for better service. First, they were very helpful in picking the right floor with us and giving us advice on different types of flooring. They also made two trips to our home to see some of the issues we had with uneveness. One of the things we appreciated is their honesty in telling us what was feasible and what wasn't. On the day of the install, the crew showed up right on time and where friendly and polite. They had to move some items and were very careful about putting down sheets of plywood so the other floors weren't damaged. They cleaned up after themselves extremely well. We've been very happy with the results. The floor looks great. The service was incredible. I highly recommend Clawes.
