They were recommended by a friend who said that they had used them. They were quite pleased with their work and pricing. We called another company, they came in but some of the stuff we wanted done they told that they couldn't do it and the price they gave us was higher. So we happened to check out Clawes and they were able to do what we wanted to do and they were even able to give suggestions that we hadn't even thought of. They also came in below the previous quote.

I contacted Clawes and another highly rated contractor on Angie's list to obtain quotes for purposes of comparison. I was predisposed to use Clawes because they are the highest rated on Angie's List and I also had a personal recommendation from a friend who had used Clawes last year for their second floor carpeting. Clawes' proposal was 20% higher than the competitive bid. The competitor also said they would complete the job in one day while Clawes said it would take two days. I spoke with Roy Clawes and said that I really wanted to use them but felt that the price spread was too much to ignore. I suggested that I would be fully satisfied if Clawes would split the difference with me and Roy agreed after consultation with the family. I paid a 50% deposit and the work was scheduled. The material was delivered and few days prior to installation and I was very impressed with the caution that Jim exercised in bringing the heavy, 8' long boxes into the house and stacking them in the dining room. When the 5-member installation crew arrived, Esser introduced himself and the others. I was also immediately impressed with the caution they exercised in bringing in their equipment, carrying out the rolled carpet and moving the hardwood upstairs. It seemed that no one needed to give orders or direction to the others. Everyone went to work and, to my knowledge, never took a break even for lunch. All five installers worked all day on Tuesday and four came back on Wednesday. The four were here until noon when two left to start another job and two remained to finish the stairway. I was very impressed with their skill and craftsmanship. I have done most of my own home repairs for over 40 years and I am reluctant to use contractors unless I have to because I am a perfectionist and usually feel I could have done it better. I know a good job when I see it and these men were truly craftsmen. You can buy the material from anyone but you can't find this quality of installation from just anywhere. Clawes may have cost me a little more than the next guy but they are worth it.

Everything went wonderful. I was looking for someone knowledgeable about subfloor. The owner, Bobbie, came over himself and looked over everything. I could tell he knew exactly what he was talking about & had the expertise required. That's hard to find. He assured me that even if he couldn't fix it, he'd find someone who could. Estimates were free and accurate and I was able to make payments. I even got a discount as a member of Angie's List. He was very reassuring, competent, and I appreciated that he was not willing to go out of his level of expertise. Was able to take tiles home to make sure I liked what I was going to buy - no charge. The owner came over 3 times to work alongside the contractors himself! They cleaned up after themselves immediately - there was no mess to clean up at all. They left my place virtually spotless. Again, the owner, came back twice & called after the job was completed to make sure I was happy with everything. They also guaranteed their work. Everyone was so very friendly and it was such a wonderful experience. I love my floor!

They did a wonderful job. They are very professional; they do good, quality work. We’ve had carpeting before and now we had them sand our floors. We chose them because of their background.

We just love them and will never depart from them. It was done over a long period of time. They've did a number of jobs for us, they come on time, take their time, and give an accurate estimate. The last time they came, the installer made a mistake, the owner immediately called, and was willing to correct the mistake. I give them high ratings and will continue to use them in the future.

Service was extremely good - friendly, no pressure, and I was given many options. When I finally made my selection, the follow through was just as good. I had to cancel my new carpet installation hours before it was to happen due to a death in the family, and I was treated with great consideration and my appointment was canceled immediately. I rescheduled when it was convenient for me at a later date. The carpet installation was done efficiently, and I feel happy with the quality of my carpet.

This is our second purchase with Clawe's (carpeted existing house in early 2011). They are very responsive and accomadating. We had to have the estimator come out twice to measure during our renovation because we moved a wall. He did that without complaining and seems to love his work. Carpet was installed in our new basement renovation, stairs, and a new bedroom. We had vinyl flooring installed in our new mudroom and in our remodeled laundry room. All was done on time, on schedule, and with no surprises. The crews were quick, courteous, and did a great job. They also did a perfect job of cleanup afterwards and left no mess behind.

The workers arrived at 9:30 and stayed til 7 pm. Initially I was told that they would be coming @ 8:30 am but that was ok. Clawes & Co. did a great job removing the vinyl and berber while putting hardwood in my hallway, living and dining rooms plus a closet and half-bath. The only issue I had was that they couldn't put my sink back together because the connection from the faucet was no longer long enough. I was informed that this could be an issue when Roy came for an estimate. I love my new floors and would definitely hire them again. Very nice family to do business with . The salesman Tim was great to work with. I worked with TIm on my carpet purchase last month, and his service continued on this as well. He offered a box sample, with no deposit, to be sent to my house so we could see the floor layed out in our home for an idea of the style and color. The wood was in stock, so it was only a matter of scheduling a day for installation. After confirming our selection and maying our down payment, I got a call the next day and installation was about a week and a half out. They completed all the work and clean up in about 12 hours with three installers. Overall the floors came out great looking! I couldn't be happier with the style, color, and price Clawes offered. Definately visit one of their show rooms and talk with someone for an idea of what you looking for and a price you are looking to spend. They are so much more helpful than a larger store is.

The crew from Clawes Carpet was amazing! That included the owner and the salesman as well as the installation crew. The salesman helped us choose an appropriate wood for the rooms we were planning to change and guided us toward carpet for the stairs that would stand up to our dog's ball games on the stairs. The flooring was ¾? solid hardwood. The ones we picked were made by Bruce, I believe. The wood samples they sent home with us were big enough to give us a good idea how the flooring would look in each room. The owner, Roy Clawes, took a very hands-on approach to our job. He was the one who brought the contracts to our house and answered all of our questions. He made sure we knew what to expect when the installation happened. He also came by during the installation to see how things were going and called afterward to be sure we were happy with the job. He defines customer service. The installation crew was very professional, too. They were extremely careful not to damage walls as they brought supplies, tools and boards in and out of the house. We were also impressed by the speed with which they installed the floors. They clearly had done this many, many times before. While looking for the right company to install new floors, we found that lots of companies hire contractors who may not have worked for them before. In those cases, it is a shot in the dark whether or not you will get a good result. Not so with Clawes Carpet. Roy said the same installer has worked for them for twenty years. I believe it because of the efficiency of the crew and the quality of the job.They knew what they were doing. We would recommend Clawes carpet to anyone. They did a beautiful job and installed floors we will enjoy for many years to come.

We visited the Clawes store to get details about carpet and hardwood installation. We received stellar service and very good information from the gentlemen working in the store. He set up an appointment for an in-home estimate with the owner, Bobby. Bobby arrived promptly on time and provided a very thorough walk-thru to determine our needs. We received our written estimate two days later. Ultimately, we selected carpet and installation from Lowe's as they had the same carpet we wanted for a lower price and had a financing option. Clawes was extremely knowledgeable and professional. Even though we did not purchase from them, I would highly recommend them for anyone looking for carpet or hardwood flooring.

Entire experience took four days from picking out carpet to install on a Sunday afternoon. Phenomenal attitude and service from showroom to installation. Measurement and sale completed on schedule on Saturday. No attempt to up sell or push more expensive pad and no additional charge for carpeting stairs. Install in newly renovated area with fresh paint and trim work-installers were very careful and did not mar the walls or trim. Second experience with this company in past four months and they are first class in every respect.

They followed through when I called them back out. They are a family run business which I like to use. I would recommend him to others and I myself would use him again.

Overall the job went very well. They showed up when they said would and were very friendly. They also gave me a very good price, on a few additional items I needed to have done; repairing a hole in the floor and installing three thresholds. I appreciated their consideration in keeping things clean. I also admired the fact that even though this was a small job, they treated me with the same level of care and respect that they would have given to a customer with a million dollar job.

Installers arrived promptly at 8:05am and were cleaned up and finished by 11am. They were courteous and very knowledgable. The overall installation looks flawless and I could not be happier. I compared Clawes prices and staff to a large home improvement store and an online/in home volume carpet company. The Clawes employees were by far more knowledgable and informative for a first time customer. The price estimates were very clear and exact to the final cost was. The others I compared Clawes to had hidden charges or quotes that only showed a final price, with no detail to what exactly I was paying and what I was paying for. Clawes showroom in Vienna was also very helpful in providing a hands on comparison of the carpet I was looking for. They were also able to lend me samples to take home free of charge. I will definately recommend Clawes and I will look to use them again for my future flooring needs.

The Vienna salesman Tim was wonderful. I was bowled over by the service from the moment I walked into the shop. Tim and Bobbie came to my home to measure and give me suggestions as the space is a little odd and I wanted the flooring to blend in with the rest of the renovation. They gave me great ideas and samples of course. The tile installers encountered a problem with a mismatch between the small space and the size of the tile but after I made a very paniced call to Tim who assurred me they would solve the dilemma, the tile installers came up with a very creative solution that looks beautiful. Tim was willing to go to great lenghts to get what I needed to solve the problem but the skill level of the tile craftsmen was so great that they were able to solve it on their own. THIS is what I wish I had had during the foyer/bathroom remodel and tile installation! I highly recommend Clawe's carpet and will use them in the future when I redo the master bedroom and kitchen. Price was cmpetitive but the skill of the installers and the service is above and beyond any other flooring company I have used. They specialize in floors and they do floors really well.

Everything went very well from beginning to end. When we visited the store, we were helped immediately and given advice on several different carpet types and alternatives. Bobby Clawes made us feel very comfortable about our options, and he just could not have been more helpful, or more friendly. He was able to schedule both the measuring and installation for days/times that were convenient for us and our work schedules. The installers came within the estimated window and they called when they were on their way (which I always find helpful). They were very careful as they carried their tools and supplies in and out of the house. The work they did was excellent. Even the area in the closet that we were not sure could be matched turned out really well. They cleaned up the area before leaving. The work was done very quickly. It was a very pleasant experience.

Clawes sales staff were great, good selection and very helpful. They agreed to measure on a Saturday morning. They we prompt and professional. They arrived on time for the measurement. Told us it would be about 2 weeks and it was. The installers were a few minutes late arriving but did a great job.

They did a great job. The estimator was personable and knowledgeable. The in-store staff was responsive to questions. The installation team came on time, finished the work in a single day as promised, replaced the furniture, and cleaned up afterwards. In summary, the work could not have gone more smoothly, and I would recommend this company whole-heartedly.

My husband and I needed to replace the carpet in the entire basement area of a new home we purchased. We initially had planned on working with Lowes but the customer service there was HORRIBLE!!! We were at our wits end and decided to go with a smaller, more specialized store when we came across Clawes Carpet. From the initial phone call to the measurements, to the installation, we were extremely pleased with the service provided by Clawes. There were no hidden fees and additional charges for things that should be included with a carpet installation. Our carpet looks (and feels) beautiful, the installation was timely which was critical to us as we were moving in that week and had a really tight timeline. I will never go back to a big box chain store for this type of week, and would highly recommend Clawes.

They did a great job. From my first call to the end of the job, they were friendly and professional. Pulled existing carpet and put in new floors all in one day. They moved the big furniture. Very clean and professional. I have already recommended them to friends and family.

They were awesome. Best price, amazing customer service, not pushy, extremely helpful, good installation. Wonderful to deal with. Couldn't find anyone better.

On October 28th we met with Teresa Clawes at the Braddock Road Store following measurements at our home. Teresa provided alternative carpet samples and determined the most appropriate match between our resources and their carpets. Having arrived at a decision on color and type we scheduled the installation for 11/25. Promptly on 11/25 Ben and Renaldo arrived to complete the installation during a period from 8:15 in the morning until 5:30 that afternoon. All furniture was moved from room to room allowing installation in each room. We could not be more satisfied with the efforts of the Clawes Carpet Team.

Wonderful. Work crew arrived on time and quickly finished the job.

On November 2nd, we visited the Clawes Carpet store on Braddock Road in Fairfax and explained that we needed carpet that was resistant to our 18 year old cat's hairballs. Teressa Clawes and an associate could not have been more helpful, directing us to a Shaw producted that was designed just for our needs. She said it usually took about three weeks to obtain the carpet and have it installed. We were told the approximate cost and left to visit another supplier/store. A couple of days later we were contacted by Tim from Clawes who asked whether we had decided who to use. We said we had decided to use Clawes. The next day (Saturday, 5th) we returned to Clawes and met with Tim. We told him we would be leaving town on November 19th and he said he would see if the job could be pushed up. The following week he called and said the carpet could be installed on the 18th. On the 18th (Friday), Clawes showed up on time ( in fact, 30 minutes early) and installed the carpet. Clawes also installed threshold strips on the wooden floor in two spots. The work was well done and the installers were very competent and polite. On the following Monday, Tim called and asked if we were satisfied, which we were. We were very pleased with the service, the timing, and the follow-up by Clawes. We definitely would use Clawes again. Prior to purchasing the carpet, we had done some research and were consistently advised to deal with a family run business, rather then a Big Box store, since a family business relies on the recommendation and comments of its customers to survive. Clawes didn't let us down. We strongly recommend Clawes to anyone who wants excellent customer service.
