Both experiences were very satisfying. The crew was pleasant and very fast, but also careful. Heavy furniture needed to be moved, and all was returned to the correct positions. It was one of the neatest job sites I have every seen, and when they left, there was nothing left to indicate that work had been done...except for great looking floors. When there were a couple of bubbles in the grout in the kitchen, they immediately returned and fixed the problem. We will be replacing more flooring in the next few months, and Clawes will definitely be the ones doing it!

please put in profile only big jobs, or a minimum charge. cognizant that profit has to be made, and minimums because of small jobs, busy with other jobs. everyone's time can be saved by up front. - MINIMUM JOB $500-3000 DOLLARS, ETC.

The salesman Mike Dollar was very helpful and took his time to answer all questions and came to my house for a late appt and did not rush through. He tried to provide the best solution based on my criterias. I was working with a very short time frame and they were able to accommodate my schedule but I was prepared to order stock items. I shopped around and Clawes seemed to have a very fair price. The previous owners had cats that would mark and the first floor had a horrible smell. Clawes was the only service I talked to that offered to seal the floor with Kilz....it was a load off my mind not to have to do it myself. The crew showed up on time and was very professional. The supervisor took time to answer all my questions. I would definitely recommend them.

Nice job! The techs had to move multiple pieces of furniture (sectional couch and multiple (emptied) bookshelves and a computer desk in the living room and 2 beds and 2 dressers in the spare bedroom). They stretched the loose carpet, removing the excess, and retacked it. They put the furniture back exactly where it was at the beginning of the job. They then walked me around to show me the results. Very professional--on time, completed in less than 2 hours--very careful with the furniture. Thanks!

They were attentive in the showroom. They were knowledgeable in the showroom. The guy that came out to measure was very detailed, accurate and polite. He came on time. Use them with confidence.

Competitor's Note: We've been looking for 12-18 months to have this done and nearly pulled the trigger 2-3 times with a bamboo we fell in love with at Lumber Liquidators but nagging concerns about bamboo and the multitude of online complaints about the bamboo/company just didn't set well with me. I wanted a higher level of confidence before putting down this amount of cash into our house. After receiving quotes from 5 or 6 companies during this time, I'm convinced the primary difference is the (sometimes hidden) cost of labor - all these guys buy from the same set of manufacturers. This brought the differentiating decision down to who would potentially provide the best quality and stand by their work. Decision to go with Clawes based on superior reviews here on Angie's List and local recommendation - can't go wrong with a local company that has survived nearly 3 decades! Clawes Experience: Staff at store was knowledgeable and patient - they let me take home a couple of large samples. Received an in-home quote from friendly member of the Clawes family, low-pressure, no-rush approach was appreciative. He answered my questions in a way that my wife and I could understand without sounding like he was reading from a script. Pricing was not the lowest, but competitive and I was looking to ensure quality. Wood was delivered on time, 3 days prior and neatly stacked in two rooms to spread the weight. Installers arrived on time and were friendly and approachable. They worked diligently and were responsive to requests. Someone from my family was present most of the time in the house (just in case) but not always, the unsettling fear of letting a group of strangers into your house a bit unnecessary. Cleanup was excellent, nary a water bottle or fast food wrapper left behind. Quality of wood and work was excellent, very impressed - wish we had done it sooner! Although I'm positive I could have had it done if needed, NO follow-up work was required. Score! Tip for potential buyers: Be sure to set aside extra time 2-3 days prior to pick up everything you can move and put into rooms/floors that will not be impacted. Its a lot of work, but you'd rather have the workers spend time doing what they're good at instead of doing your dirty work. The reward is a much less-cluttered, finished area - we felt like we were moving into a new home! (now to have a yard sale and sell all our junk!)

Clawes completed several projects for us over the course of two months. In every instance, they were extraordinarily responsive in providing estimates, scheduling the work and following up on any concerns or corrections needed. They were always very professional and knowledgeable in helping us to decide on the various options for both the carpet and ceramic tile. In every instance we requested and were provided several samples of the carpets and tile to take home for several days. They stood behind the work and vowed to do everything possible to ensure that we were 100% satisifed. We highly recommend them.

When it looked like we might be moving overseas on short notice, I called Clawes Carpets. I've lived in Fairfax County since the early 1980's and knew of their solid reputation for quality service and fair pricing. Although our move was cancelled, my interactions with Clawes lived up to my high expectations. They came out promptly, provided a very competitive estimate, and showed me several carpets that I liked. When they followed after a couple weeks, I told them that our move had been indefinitely delayed because of the sequester. The manager was very friendly and said he would keep my measurements for future use. I wouldn't hesitate to call them again if we ultimately move.

They did a great job. The floor looks great. I was very pleased with the result.

I have to tell you that this company moved mountains to get the carpet installed prior to my mother in law returning from the hospital. Everyone was so very nice, from the sales people to the owners to the scheduler to the installers. The entire staff was very professional, caring, and competent. The product they installed is perfect! The reason I gave a good instead of an excellent for responsiveness is that they are quite busy. I had to call a few times to get the quote. Now, I was under a time crunch so their response time was probably perfectly acceptable but in our situation we needed it that evening or the next day to get the process moving since it does take time to schedule and decide on product. In the end, it all worked out. Like I said, they moved mountains to get the carpet in for us and we would definitely use them again!

the two man crew arrived in the morning (Pablo and Carlos) and worked very well to complete the task of installing the carpet in the hallway, they cut the pattern outdoors, had to remove several closet doors, but fortunately were able to reinstall the doors after fitting the hallway carpet in one bedroom they installed a bound carpet and fitted it nicely, had first removed the bed, and replaced the bed and mattresses. they worked continuously and were competent at their work, nice people to deal with. I will use Clawes Carpets in the future for other projects and was very satisfied with the good results which they accomplished.

.It was 4 years ago. We plan to hire them again soon. They stretched my carpet. It was really nice of them to do that. They are prompt. They did what they said they would do. They were reasonably price. The previous company had left lumps in the carpet. So, I contacted Clawes and they fixed it. The owner came out and addressed my concerns.

Roy Clawes, of Clawes Carpets, gave me an estimate that was significantly less that the other two in-home estimates I received. He was also very friendly and personable. When I told him I planned to demolish the old floor myself, he was very encouraging and even offered some tips and advice on the best methods to use. Other firms had discouraged me from doing it myself, and intimated that I was not capable of doing it (I am a 55 y/o woman.) But Roy Clawes said he was sure I could do it. His helpful tips (and a couple of YouTube videos) enabled me to demolish the old floor myself, and that brought the price down even further! The two installers arrived on time on the appointed day and they were very efficient. They listened to my concerns and went the extra mile in several ways. Since I was putting in new baseboards after the floor was installed, they measured the width of the new baseboard and left a nice gap in the shoe moldings where the baseboard and the shoe moldings would intersect. They knew what they were doing and the work was completed quickly and without making any mess at all. They were oh-so-careful when moving the refrigerator and stove. I am completely happy with the installation and I love my new kitchen floor! Other savings: Clawes Carpets did not charge for moving the fridge and stove, but one of the other firms was going to charge $40.00 each to move them! I also received a generous "Angie's list" discount. Clawes Carpets will really save you money! Clawes Carpets will be my flooring company from now on. I am getting my home ready to sell and I plan to have them re-carpet the whole house before too long. I know they will give me the best price and high quality workmanship!

The labor was very intensive and extreme to remove the old flooring. The replaced wood matched the existing stairs perfectly that did not have to be redone. He was very knowledgeable about the wood and knew exactly how to match. The job was fantastic! They are responsive and make the job easy.

I contacted Clawe's Carpets via Angies List a couple of weeks ago, but never heard back. I contacted them again this week and received a phone call within a day to set up a time for them to come out. We agreed on a time. On the day they were supposed to come out they called after their scheduled appointment time and told me someone had double booked my time. I said okay the only other time I can meet them was in the late afternoon/evening time (4:30pm to be exact) and they said they do not meet people that late. So I stated well I took off this particular day because you said you could meet me and again the person apologized for being double booked, yet the only other thing he had to offer me was for me to look at my schedule and call them back. Needless to say I was annoyed at this point, they had the nerve to contact me after their scheduled time to say they were double booked and when I told them I had taken that day off to meet them, they seemed to be unconcerned with accommodating me one evening at 4:30pm or later. Overall they receive an F, as this persons lack of customer service warranted such a grade. I chose them because of all the great reviews, however I should have taken heed when they didn't contact me back the first time.

The sales manager was very knowledgable and showed us the types of products that best fit our needs without being pushy. He offered samples for us to take home to check colors and worked with us around our schedule for installation. The installers were prompt and very professional and completed the job quickly. They were very helpful in moving beds and dressers from room to room since we were having all the bedrooms done at the same time.

We installed vinyl in a very large kitchen. The crew was professional, on-time, pleasant, and skilled. We are very pleased with their work and product.

It went very well. We did a walkthrough to go over the problem areas to be addressed. They started the work; they showed me how they were progressing; and they did an awesome job moving the furniture and putting it back in place. We did a final walkthrough; I was pleased; I was handed an invoice and paid as agreed.

After interviewing some other installers we talked with Teresa at the Braddock Road location and met with Roy who measured the house and discussed the estimate. We were very impressed with Clawes, this clearly is a family business that takes pride in its reputation and providing good service. We were so pleased with the work they did installing carpet throughout the main floor of our house that we were turning into a rental that we had them back later to install new carpet throughout our basement. Roy even suggested a comparable quality but cheaper carpet to the one we had originally chosen. Saved us about $1000.00. These are excellent, professional, conscientious people who put customer service and satisfaction first. We plan to use only Clawes whenever we need to install new carpet again in our rental house. We recommend Clawes Carpet without reservation.

Carpet purchase and installation went super smooth from beginning to end. The sales team was very knowledgeable and their installers were as professional as they come.

They were the most expensive estimate. However, they explained everything in detail, told us they would replace the wood around the toilet on the first floor, replace all of the quarter round on the base boards & stain it to match the floors. We are very happy with their work.

Roy Clawes explained the various options in detail and provided information on the prices, time required and pros and cons of each option. He came to the house with the installer, Esser, to evaluate the best approach and explained the reasons for his recommendations. He answered all of our questions. Best of all, there were no surprises after the work began. Esser and the crew arrived right on time on the scheduled start date, explained what they were going to do and got right to it. They were clearly experienced and every member of the team seemed to know exactly what he had to do. The project was scheduled for three days. On each day, they continued working until they had completed the portion they were working on. They did their best to minimize inconvenience to us from the work that was being done. They were responsive to any requests that we made of them. The whole job was completed on time and the result was quite beautiful. We could not wait to show off the new floors to our friends and to recommend Clawes Carpets and this crew to anyone looking to upgrade their floors.
