Karl came out and did a free estimate on a Saturday morning. He arrived promptly at 9:00am and spent about twenty minutes inside the crawl space determining what was needed. He did a good job of explaining the various insulation options to me (who knew very little about insulation). The installation was a bit bumpy because when Karl and his crew were installing the insulation Karl determined noticed a feature in the crawl space that prevented him from insulating the floor joists the way that he had originally planned. This meant that additional insulation would be required and that they would need to return at a later date to complete the job. Karl was very upfront about the situation and explained that he had missed that when he did the estimate and that since it was his fault he would only charge me the cost of the materials for the additional insulation and nothing for the labor or 2nd trip out. He also said that I wouldn't be billed for anything until the job was complete. I felt that this was very fair and reasonable of him. He handled the situation very well and took responsibility for the mistake. I was very impressed by this. The only thing that I would ding Capital Insulation on is that sometimes the office is a little slow to schedule appointments or send estimates. This is a very minor ding though as Molly was always exceptionally pleasant to talk to and very helpful. Therefore while I heartily recommend Capital Insulation and Karl to anyone who is looking to reinsulate their home or condo, I am giving Capital Insulation an A- overall. This is because of the slight lag with receiving the estimate and scheduling the appointments with the office, and the requirement for two trips to complete the job. That being said, these are both minor things in the grand scheme and at the end of the day my concern is that I receive a good product at a good price, which I did.

We were pleased with the service. Their price was competitive and their turnaround was very quick.

Our house has always been freezing in the winter. This year, I said enough. Other companies (4 or 5) wouldn't even come out to look, but this company didn't hesitate. They told me what they were going to do, and how they were going to do it. But when they came, after they cut the hole in the living room ceiling, they didn't have to do the extensive work they had planned on doing. One hole big enough for a man to get into the space. I have no idea how two men got up there, let alone crawl to the other end of the house, build the box for the fan, and then blow in the insulation - in a 16" space!!! Within four hours of their leaving, the room became nicely warm, and by the next day, the floors were warm, something they had never been in the winter. The biggest surprise was that the furnace didn't have to run all the time. This summer, the upstairs is pleasantly cool and the downstairs isn't freezing. And the AC actually shuts off, even on hot days. What a concept!! Important things to me are that they left the work area clean and everything back in its place, the workers were very courteous, they worked well along side of another contractor who was here that day, they were absolutely dead on time, and the product they delivered was every bit and more than I expected. I couldn't even imagine how they could do this project, but they did - efficiently, and at what I feel was a good price. I know we're saving on our fuel bills.

Karl arrived promptly to provide an estimate that was quite reasonable. He had given me a "tutorial" on the kinds of insulation on the phone previously. He was very knowledgeable and was not pushing a particular product. Just provided pros and cons of each type of insulation. On the day of the insulation installation, one of Karl's trucks went on the "frizz" and he was late in getting to my home, but he called me several times to tell me of his progress and provide an estimate of when he would actually arrive. Once there, he and his crew worked quickly and efficiently to get the task done. Cannot praise Karl enough. In fact, I sent him to others in my neighborhood and they used his services. Karl is well educated and knows, not only his product, but engineering details of your structure and how air should flow to properly provide insulation but protect your property from damage such as moisture. The third story of my townhouse is now quite comfortable in the summer!

This company was very professional. They showed up on time, provided a detailed estimate with an explantation of the services. When they arrived to do the work, they were on time (a huge plus), did some extra small things which I would not have noticed, and fixed some other contractor's work. They were in and out as promised. This is a wonderful experience in the world of construction. The also recommended other services as well.

I had concerns about the insulation in my crawl space. The room above it was freezing. Another Angie's List provider had given me a quote but parts of it didn't make sense to me. I contacted Capital for an estimate. He came out and pointed out that the vent was wide open. It was broken but he offered suggestions for sealing it myself. He offered to provide an estimate of an insulation 'tune up' but wasn't sure I would need it once the vent was sealed. I was amazed. He was so honest and helpful though not making any money with his advice. Therefore, I'm spreading the word that this company is a WINNER! I can't say enough about it.

I had asked a number of companies for estimates, including those that usually top the lists of favorites. I had many questions because I was concerned about the safety of blowing insulation into my attic. Capital Insulation is unique, because the owner of the company, Karl Strandberg, comes to your house to explain the work and give the estimate, and he also performs the work. I hired him because I found him to be extremely knowledgeable about the science and safety issues about insulating and ventilating a house. In fact, Karl is an electrical engineer. His price was also the most reasonable of the many estimates that I received. On the day the work was to be performed, Karl arrived promptly with his helper, Luis. The two of them were incredibly meticulous and careful. They were so nice to work with. Karl understood all of my concerns and made me feel very comfortable. They neatly laid drop cloths everywhere. They carefully did the prep work, and then easily and neatly blew the insulation into my attic. They vacuumed everything thoroughly so there was absolutely no trace of fiberglass when they left. It was a great experience.

We have a cape cod-style house that was built in the 40s and was devoid of any insulation. Karl did the estimate himself and spent a good deal of time talking through the pros and cons of various options and type of work we could even do on our own. He was quite honest in what he could and couldn't do. Basically our house is built a certain way and while adding insulation would help some it would not totally solve our issue with the second floor being hot in summer and cold in winter. We are very happy with Capital Insulation's work, their professionalism and especially Karl’s honesty. I highly recommend this company.

We are very happy with the service. Karl was very professional when coming out for the quote and during the job. When he came out for the estimate he took pictures and offered suggestions on how to fix our energy problems. We received 4 quotes and his pricing was competitive. I was impressed with his carpentry suggestions and skill. We gained storage in our attic when we thought insulating it would eliminate our storage. Would highly recommend Capital Insulation.

After weighing the options between cellulose and fiberglass, we elected to go with the fiberglass insulation and services offered by Capital Insulation. Capital installed soffit baffles and recessed lighting fixture covers for our non-IC rated fixtures. Because we had so little insulation, they created a frame to hold back the insulation for both attic access points, as well as a platform to allow us to continue to have minor storage capabilities in the attic. They arrived on time to do the install and completed the job promptly. As questions have arisen regarding the product and installation, they have answered them quickly. We would definitely recommend Capital Insulation and would use them again.

Well done, no complaints except that price was a little bit more than I expected.
