Description of Work: They arrived on time and the cabinet refacing resulted in cabinets that looked like new at a fraction of the cost. A couple of warranty issues have developed over the years (they have a lifetime warranty), and the work was provided promptly and professionally. I'd work with them again, except that I only have one kitchen.

Description of Work: Approximately 3 years ago (not sure of the date), I used this contractor to reface my kitchen cabinets and install a new countertop and kitchen sink. They did their work well, on time, and with good results. I have had no problems with my new kitchen and continue to be happy with the results.

The project went well and I am pleased with the results. Their estimate was about $2000 less than Home Depot's estimate. I was expecting the cabinets to arrive in 4-6 weeks, but to my surprise and delight, they came in earlier and they were able to schedule the install just two weeks after I signed the contract! Once the old countertops were removed, I was aware of a huge area of space that was not being used. The time to complete the project had been under-estimated by one day. Since it was going to take an extra day anyway, the installer was very kind and accomodated my request to knock out the walls between two cabinets and add a couple of shelves giving me, in essence, a whole new cabinet. Everyone was polite, professional and they did a great job.

Morgan came out for the estimate and was very helpful in helping decide on style/color of cabinets based on our tastes. Not the typical "hard sell" for work such as this. We had 2nd thoughts on the color and quickly changed to a lighter color before placing our order. She was very accommodating. The price was reasonable in giving our cabinets a "facelift." For the measurements, Jeremias came out and based on the complexity of the job, he opted to be the lead on the installation. He and his assistant arrived on time and were very efficient. They worked through all of my cabinets' "issues" with not being level in certain spots. I felt very confident every step of the process, and when I had simple questions Jeremias was very polite and answered them in detail. We had a couple of follow-up items with the wood veneer, and they addressed them immediately. I absolutely LOVE the look of my "new" cabinets--we went from drab 80s dark, grainy oak to sleek lighter praline stained maple. We opted for upper cabinet long doors (to replace the double stacked doors we used to have), knobs on the doors, handle pulls on the drawers. Having the inside mounted hinges really cleans up the look vs. outside mounted ones we used to have. All of my friends and family that have seen the cabinets love the color.
Description of Work: Refaced existing cabinets plus paneling along a long peninsula cabinet that runs into a family room; removed old wall oven cabinet and adjacent cabinets/drawers; installed new wall oven cabinet and trimmed out as necessary with new oven that was on premises; custom built part of the new adjacent cabinet; replaced lazy susan; installed pots & pans drawers in two of our base cabinets; installed a flatware divider in one of the new drawers.

She came out. She was here as long as I needed to be. They had a lot of choices, but my husband didn't like the choices as far as the color and quality. I thought the quality was o.k. We wanted some lighter colors and they didn't have samples of that. They would have had to make them up. We weren't sure what we were going to do. We are either going to remodel or reface. I figured we better make that choice before going with anyone. It was a fine experience for me, but my husband wasn't thrilled with it. They were pretty good about getting out here. She was professional. She had everything she needed and new her product.

The price this company offered is about $3000 cheaper than Home Depot. We have read some other positive reviews about this company and decided to try. Everything was just fine from start to finish. They were able to start the job one week earlier than scheduled to accommodate our schedule. The work is good. Our kitchen looks spectacular ever since. However, two points I would like to point out. First is the person who came to our home to do the estimate was a bit of too assertive and pushing. The other thing is they lifted a sign of their company in front of our house to advertise (without prior notification), but they did remove that sign the next day after received our complaint. An A- overall experience!

A friend had used American Cabinet Refacers and was happy with their work, so we called them for an estimate, but we used another company for two reasons. First, when I called to set up the appointment, the man scheduling told me my husband needed to be at home. I haven't been patronized like that for years. How decisions are made in any household is none of his business. The second reason we did not use them was the aggressiveness of the sales pitch we got. We were first told that if we signed that night we would get a 10% discount. I told him I would never make that big of a financial commitment without: a) thinking about it for a couple of days, and b)without getting a second estimate. On the way out the door, he said he would beat anyone elses estimate by 10%. The whole approach was not very professional. He never followed up later in the week, which was not smart on his part either. (Our other estimator emailed me 2 days later)

I first got an estimate from Home Depot of over $12000, which was much more than I was prepared to pay, so I found this company in the yellow pages. A very nice young lady came out and gave me an estimate of $7000. After doing some more research on refacing versus new cabinets (and consulting Angie's list) I decided to accept their offer. They came back and measured in detail, and the installation was scheduled for about 3 weeks later. The installers arrived promptly, and spent two days refacing my cabinets. They look great, and it's a huge improvement. They had to partially rebuild one cabinet. Later, I discovered one small problem--a drawer had been installed backwards. I called to ask to have this fixed and they gave me the name of the installer, who apparently is on a subcontract with them. They said they would contact me to arrange a time to come back, but after a week or so, no one called, so I had to call again. This time they did call back and the installer came back on Saturday morning to make the change. When I saw what he had to do, it was clearly not so simple, so I really think he installed it that way hoping to get away with. That being as it may, I'm a happy customer and love my virtually new cabinets.

Sales pitch wasn't the most pressure I've seen from a salesman but there was some pressure to buy right away. Work started on scheduled day but contractor was late due to traffic. First day went well but second scheduled day the countertop could not be delivered due to a crack. Overall craftsmanship of installation was good with some minor flaws in the cabinet lamanation. Poor design on the backsplash were it meets the corner, but that was not the fault of the installer. One incorrect measurement delayed installation of a pass -through counter to the dinning room. I was billed in full before the work was completed/corrected.

The estimator came to our house one evening, spent a few minutes looking in the kitchen and making some measurements, and then wrote a dollar amount on a piece of paper. That was the entire estimate. I was in a rush, so I didn't ask what individual numbers fed into that amount. It seemed to be close to what I was expecting, but I still would have liked to see a breakdown. It was hard to schedule the actual work. One day I called the office, but the guy said that it would be more convenient for him if he could speak to me in the evening. Clearly they were more worried about their own convenience than the customer's. A young man who spoke little English showed up on the correct day and very carefully did his work. I have no complaints with his installation: he was careful to be clean, and everything was installed very nicely, except for one small under-sink cabinet which apparently he didn't have the parts for that day. When I called the office back to ask about that to see if we could schedule someone to come out and finish, or give me a refund, the man said "it's only a $10 job!" clearly not interested in giving me a refund. But I scheduled the young man to come to my house on 2 separate occasions to finish the installation and he didn't show either time (I spoke to him in Spanish so I know it wasn't a communication issue). Then on several other occasions after that I got phone calls from other workers at the company saying "I'm near your house and will be there in 15 minutes to finish the installation!" as if I have nothing to do but wait home all day every day waiting for them to come visit the job. Needless to say, the job still isn't finished because they apparently gave up trying to schedule something with a woman who actually works.

We knew we wanted to redo our kitchen and didn't know where to start. We saw the company at the Capital Home Show and made an appointment for them to come out. After meeting with other contractors and hearing that our kitchen was going to be out of commission for a month or two, I would be busy picking out many things and the fact that it would cost up to two times more than to reface we were interested. The estimator showed up at the appointed day and time. We were very impressed with the pictures of before and after. Our kitchen was definitely a "before". Finding out it would be 1/3 less than the other estimates and seeing what it could look like - we were sold. The person came to measure that Saturday. He was ontime and very nice. The job was scheduled for about three weeks later. The morning of the two gentlemen arrived promptly at 8am. It was a cold and wet day, so they needed to set up and bring the materials inside (we don't have a garage.) They worked until 6pm that first day and until about 2:30 pm the second day. The place was cleaned and my living area put exactly back the way it was before they left. Jeremiah and Carlos were wonderful. They installed a new sink, faucet and garbage disposal (supplied by us). The cabinets were laminated, there were new doors and drawer pulls, knobs and countertops. There was a small problem where one part of the cabinet was not supposed to be adhered to the wall, but was. They took it off and fixed it right away. Also, one of the doors was did not arrive in time. Jeremiah gave me his cell phone number to call when it arrived. He continued to call that evening and the next day to see if the door arrived. We made the appointment for Saturday morning and the gentlemen arrived ontime and attached the last door. They did a wonderful job.

When we decided to have the job done, we interviewed a different company first, but were pressured to close the deal on the spot. The salesman was annoyed and showed it when we said we wanted time to think carefully before committing to having the job done. Didn't like his attitude, so were very pleased when the young lady from American Cabinet Refacers showed up. She was friendly and businesslike, showed us the samples and helped us with our choices. She also wanted to close the deal that evening, as you would expect, but didn't exert pressure. Instead, she told us we would have 3 days to reconsider after signing the contract, so of course we gave her our business. The people who came to take measurements showed up when they promised, and were efficient and thorough. When the new doors were ready, the workmen showed up promptly, and our kitchen was finished in two days. They cleaned up after themselves, and took away all the old drawers and scrap material. There was one small glitch when the doors made to go over the refrigerator turned out to be too long; the workman trimmed them to fit and attached them temporarily, then returned with the proper size doors a few weeks later. We have no complaints about the job, and would certainly recommend this company to anyone, in fact, we already have. Our neighbor came in to see our finished kitchen, and now wants his done, too.
