AMERICAN CABINET REFACERS

The initial estimate went well (April 2013) - the designer was knowledgeable and professional. However, during the installation (June 2013) some of the doors weren't the right size and they had to be reordered, leaving my kitchen a mess and incomplete for 2 additional weeks. About 5 months after the installation was completed (Oct/Nov 2013), a couple of the doors weren't closing completely/correctly. I contacted the company via phone to have them come fix it since I was still under warranty. I called them every week for 4 months, leaving messages, before someone called me back. I also emailed them a couple of times with the response that someone will contact me, which never happened. Once I was able to get someone on the phone (mid-February), he said it was an installation problem and I should call the installer directly, giving me his number. I called the installer weekly, with no response. I notified American Cabinet Refacers multiple times, via phone messages and email, that I wasn't able to get in touch with the installer (the last message occurring at the end of April 2014). Have yet to hear back from either party and it's been 12 months since the work was completed and 8 months since my first outreach to the company regarding my issue.

The installer was prompt each day and even worked into evening hours to have the job done in 2 days. His attention to details was great and he addressed my very few issues in a professional manner. The transformation is fantastic! I debated whether to replace or reface, but am so glad I opted for refacing. So much cheaper and since my cabinets were in good shape, no need to go to the cost and inconvenience of replacing. Good decision on my part! After interviewing three companies, American Cabinet Refacers was not the cheapest, but the combination of professionalism, selection and no hard sell is what sold me on them. Another good decision on my part!!

Shortly. She abruptly explained that my spouse must be present in order for her to have any discussion with me. She immediately indicated that if he wasn't available, at that moment, she would need to reschedule. I assured her that he would join us in a few minutes and called up for him to come down quickly. She repeated the offer to reschedule. I explained that we wanted an offer to reface the kitchen cabinets and island starting in mid to late May and wanted a quote. She refused to respond until my husband came to the kitchen. We sat in awkward silence while we waited for him to join us. When he came down about 25 seconds later she asked if we wanted to know about their process or just a quote. Realizing that she did not want to be bothered from her body language and rolling of her eyes we asked for a quote, thanked her for her time and escorted her out.

My contractor came by, and took pictures. He and I both are very impressed with the final product. Money well spent and worth every penny. My neighbors actually thought I had new cabinets installed. Both Diego and Carlos are professionals in their field. I only wished that they would have covered the mircowave. When I used it the first time after their work, shavings sprung out everywhere from the ventilation on top. Additionally, there were shavings in the stove as well. Again, if more time was taken to prep, I do not think this would have happened.

The crew was scheduled to arrive on Monday, March 17, at 8 a.m. However, at 7 a.m., I got a call that they could not make it that day. Remember the Saint Patrick's Day snow? I certainly agreed that they should not come that day since we had not as yet plowed our driveway and the roads were awful. They did arrive on Tuesday, the 18th, at 7:45 a.m. and began word immediately. They did not even stop for lunch and worked like a well-oiled machine, each of the three crew members knew what to do when and how. By 2 p.m. they were done and cleaned up the kitchen floor completely. The cabinets look terrific and like new. I have found no problems so far. They did install one door handle on the opposite side of where it had been before but that actually made more sense than the original location. We just have to break ourselves of reaching left instead of right. The one thing I was not prepared for was the amount of sawdust produced, not just in the kitchen but in other areas of the house because we have no doors to close off on that level. I would strongly recommend covering everything possible before the sawing begins. I am still finding dust on many surfaces.

They only want to schedule estimates at supper time (for an hour) and only with your spouse present. That may be good for others but for us we've learned the hard way this is a huge RED FLAG. It appears they practice the standard high pressure sales in disguise. They did not read or listen to our intent, desires or requirements and hence won't get my business. (Why have online quotes if you don't want to use the information in the sales strategy??). I only do business with companies that have transparent product, pricing and warranty information. Don't waste my time or yours.

Wonderful! They arrived on time, were very polite and even asked if they could stay late to finish the job the same day!

I am very pleased with the finished product. They were very professional and I would recommend them highly. The total job took a day and a half. Carlos, the installer, was very proficient and is highly skilled in his job. He was on the job at 8 a.m. sharp and worked nonstop all day. I am very proud of the finished product.

When the person came out to do the estimate, they were very charming, promising satisfaction. We were promised and assured that the refacing would be installed on October 18th at 8:00am. The timing was critical because we were preparing our home for sale and had arranged for carpet cleaning, painting, etc., to be done after the 18th. We received a phone call a few days before and they were requesting that we reschedule to the end of the month. When we advised this was not possible because of our timeline, they said they would honor the original installation date./time I received a call on the 17th that the installation would be at 6:00pm on the 18th instead of 8:00am. On the 18th, we received a call at 5:30pm to inform us that the cabinets were not even in the shop to be installed. After numerous calls--most were not returned, the owner finally told us when the delivery would be. The installation was finally done on October 25th starting at 6:00pm and ending at 11:00pm. While the installer was very good and professional, the company is unprofessional, lacksidaisical, and had a rude attitude. Meanwhile, the house had been cleaned, carpets shampooed, painting completed, floors polished, etc.--because the installation generated so much dirt and dust, we had to pay for another cleaning crew to come again to re-clean. The owner had promised after installation was completed, he would compensate us for those expenses. However, after completion, the owner did not return my call and the manager engaged in a very heated argument with me that there was no compensation and that he did not have the authority to compensate me. We ended up reducing the final bill by $100 while the follow-up cleaning cost us $300.

They did a good job and I would recommend them.

The salesman came out and charmed us with all kinds of promises that were not followed through on by the workmen or the company. He did a preliminary measurement and included all of the cabinets that were needed and included the shoe molding and accessories. He told us they would take off the old molding and replace it with the new ones, and that we would be 100% satisfied by the entire project or they would come back and fix things we didn't like. When the actual workmen came out, if seemed like the salesman had never talked with them about what we had originally agreed on so when the materials arrived, there were parts missing and things that didn't fit, and no mention at all of shoe molding to finish the project. After the kitchen and bathroom were remeasured, the materials took about 2 months to come. The workers arrived and were pleasant, but not interested in questions or concerns we had. They had to reorder a number of cabinet fronts, which also took many more weeks to arrive. The spacing and placement of the cabinet doors were sloppy and had large gaps, and many did not close properly. Somehow, the shoe molding we had been promised never was ordered and the workmen said they were not included. After discussion with the manager of the company, we did get some for the kitchen, but never any for the bathroom which still looks unfinished. The workmen took out the inside of one cabinet that had some holders for pots screwed in, but did not replace the holders. They seemed to be so disillusioned and upset when we asked for things to be fixed and corrected, that it became difficult for us to ask, and we ended up having to try to fix things ourselves. Since the time that the project was completed by the workmen, cabinets have come loose, parts have completely fallen off, and the contact paper that was applied between the cabinets have peeled off. After all the frustration we've experienced and the lack of positive response, we would rather fix these things ourselves than try to contact the company, but feel angry and cheated since we were promised that we would get good quality work done to our satisfaction for the expensive price we paid for this project.

Refaced all kitchen cabinets and installed a new center island. Very nice job. We are very satisfied and recommend tAmerican Cabinet Refacers highly. Jeremias Molinas, the technician who did most of the work was excellent.

I could not be more pleased with the entire experience. The entire experience, from my initial contact with Morgan, to Jeremiah's careful measurements, to the final results, have been absolutely wonderful. I got three bids for the job, and American Cabinet Refacers was the least expensive by a wide margin. In addition, the price included the glass for two cabinet doors, the cabinet pulls, seven new drawerboxes (not just the drawer face), and six pull-outs inside the cabinets. Jeremiah and his assistant finished the work in two days as promised, after the promised lead time for cabinet manufacture of five weeks. The other two companies said one week to install with 10 week lead time (at 50% more cost), and two weeks to install with 12 week lead time (at more than double the cost). Additionally, Jeremiah removed the under-cabinet lighting, refaced that area, and re-installed the lighting. Neither of the other companies agreed to do that. Jeremiah kept the work space clean, and put away everything after the first work day, so that I could use the kitchen that evening. There was very little in the way of construction dust when they finished the second day. Overall, I found everyone in the company a pleasure to work with. They projected a can-do attitude, and followed through on their promises.

When I called the company to get an appointment for an estimate, I had to leave a message on their answering machine. I wasn't home when the call back came and I had to call the company back again at a different number. I was given an appointment, then subsequently the appointment was changed. Then the appointment was changed back to the original appointment time. I was not at home each time the company called me and had to call them back again. This happened several times, so I decided to cancel the appointment altogether and go with a different company.

Diego and his helper did a very good job in installing the new countertop, refacing the cabinets, and putting on new cabinet doors. Everything was cleaned up afterwards, and I'm very pleased with how everything looks. They also provide a lifetime warranty on the new laminate on the cabinets, which is nice. I had to spend several hours taking all the stuff out of the cabinets, and putting them back, but that's to be expected.

The job went fine. I picked up the company's advertising materials at the Washington Home Show. They called to make arrangements to estimate the job within 48 hours. The estimator arrived on time and was completely professonal in attitude and demeanor. The measurer called within a day or so of selecting the company. He also showed up on time and acted professionally. The measurements were extremely detailed. The installation occured approximately 5 weeks latter. The installers showed up on time and worked diligently for two days to complete the installation. One cabinet door had a minor painting defect that was fifficult to detect except under bright, direct light. A new door was ordered and I have held back approximately $300 pending installation of the new door. The new door was installed on 4/26/13. The installers did their best to keep the mess to a minimum. They cleaned up at the end of each work day. All in all, this was a very satisfactory experience - the kind you wish for. We got what we contracted for, on time and budget, welll installed, will a mininmum of fuss.

went very well. representatives showed up on time/schedule, listened closely to my issues, identified solutions and provided very helpful recommendations (including ways to use space that would not have occurred to me). original work was scheduled for 3 days; workmen did an exceptional job keeping my place clean so I did not have any cleanup issues, replaced about a dozen drawer fronts and slides so the drawers pull out and close smoothly and installed 25 new cabinet doors, and completed the job early. I get raves from visitors who know what the old kitchen looked like; looks and feels like a whole new, quality kitchen.

I knew they required both homeowners to be present for a sales call, but I knew this would not work for me and my husband, so I requested that they make an exception. Salesperson called me back twice but said they could not make an exception, so declined my potential business.

I called Stewart after great references on Angie's List. I tried setting up an appointment and he became insistent that that both myself and my husband would be home for the estimate. When I let him know that would be difficult (working hours, 2 very young children), he seemed really put out that I would make him come when it was just me. He then committed to have someone call me the next morning to set up a time for the following day. I arranged my schedule to be at home for the afternoon, but he never called and no-showed. Besides being extremely unpleasant on the phone, please let Stewart know that I managed to have an appointment and sign with another contractor, and I didn't even need to consult with my husband about it - they let wives sign checks all by themselves now!

They never showed up for the estimate. They asked me to measure myself all the cabinet sizes for them to provide the estimate. Now I did that and emailed them the sizes. Then I followed up with phone call to ensure they got them. Till date no response. In my opinion, if they had too much work, why did they bother to even call me to do all this.. Lousy is the right word..

I was initially quite impressed with American Cabinet Refacers as the salesperson was very professional, prompt and very thorough. However, I had an unfortunate experience with the installation. For starters, I had been originally assigned a March 7th and 8th installation. One day prior (the evening before) I was told that my shipment was delayed because the truck "broke down." Unfortunately they were unable to reschedule my installation until March 20th and 21st (this was partly because of me being out of town for a few days the next week and the installers already had 2 jobs booked the next week). This cancellation was after they had already removed my original cabinet doors and taken them away. Two weeks I had to live without cabinet doors, and unfortunately I have young children...so not ideal. I also lost 2 days of work because of the very late notice by the installer that my shipment had been delayed. The installer recommended that I call the supervisor about this (Kensington office number) and when I did the supervisor (name forgotten) was very understanding of my concern (or at least appeared to be) and said he would talk with the owner about a reduction in price given the inconvenience and that he would call me back. I was never called back and I was charged the full original price. Either the supervisor never got in touch with the owner, or the owner felt like customer service was not a top priority. Either case, professionalism gets a solid 'D'. Both days the installers were late to arrive (Day 1 arrived at 10:30 am, and day 2 at 9:15 am)...were suppose to arrive between 8:00-9:00 am. The installers did come from an over hour drive, so personally I was okay with this, however do keep this in consideration if punctuality is a deciding factor. Job was completed by 4:00 pm and overall a decent job, B-. From a distance they look great with decent quality materials, however upon closer inspection one can tell that this was a refacing job, not original cabinets. I already have a couple smaller areas where the laminate is defacing a little and will need to be reapplied. But overall I am impressed with the cabinets and the installers were hard workers who appeared to take pride in their work.

I found American Cabinet Refacers at a home and garden show. They had good reviews from Angie's List. My kitchen cabinets were the world's worst color. The people I had purchased the house from had selected a color so light that the cabinets looked unfinished. I hated them for years, but didn't get around to replacing them until I started working on the house to prepare it for my eventual retirement. Paying for updates/improvements while I still have an income. The salesman (whose name I unfortunately forget), came to the house with his samples and was very patient with me while I selected the color and style that I wanted. He was quite friendly and in addition to giving me advice on my selections, we had a very nice conversation. I made the order and was told that it would take about 3 months for the pieces to be manufactured after they were measured. I was told that the installation would take 2 days, but it only took 1. Three workmen were sent to the house to do the work and they worked quickly and didn't mess around. They had to take out my microwave (installed over the oven), but put it back on the wall when they were finished. I love the new cherry wood color of the doors. I also have better handles than the knobs that were there originally. I am very happy with the results. I am not entirely convinced that the quality is "better" than the cabinets that were replaced (the original owners were terrible with colors, but very demanding about quality of materials), and the hinges are a bit stiff. But overall, I would recommend the company and would use them again if I had another house with bad cabinets.

Contracted to have new cabinet doors and cabinet refacing. Excellent work in one day. After the work was completed I called to have a couple of minor repairs and they were very polite and quick to respond.

The transformation is amazing and I wish I had done it years ago. From the estimator to the techs who measured and later installed everything, these guys are total professionals. I've done a lot of remodeling on my home the past 8 years and hands down, this experience was the most positive and rewarding. I would hire them again in a minute and now my family and friends are calling them after seeing my beautiful new kitchen!

Mostly ok. Somewhat overpriced. After they left the pipes under the kitchen sink leaked.
