Frank and his team are the best. I am a property manager who has used FBT for a little over four years now. Every time I need them, they are prompt, professional, and tell me exactly what needs to be done, and what is "extra". I never question Frank's opinion and expertise. The pricing is very reasonable for the work they perform. Always satisfied.

Needless to say, we are beyond pleased with the job itself, but most importantly the professionalism and extreme care taken by all your crew, including Lori as estimator and sales representative, Mark as supervisor, his superb demolition and tile installers (who's names, other than Juan, I have unfortunately forgotten, but Mark can cite for you). In addition, David & Alex, his nephew, who not only measured the glass enclosure down to a "silly millimeter" as might have been said, but who came and installed that glass to absolute perfection. So precise indeed was the installation that there was no need for a plastic sealer strip along the vertical glass-to glass-"joint" upon the door's closure ... that kind of strip could not even fit! As another complement to your tile installers, the long glass wall fit against tile at the end of the shower so tightly that caulking was essentially unneeded, although installed anyway as a matter of thoroughness.. As I am now on continuous oxygen for COPD, I simply could not have done any part of the job myself, although I had drilled tile and mounted things before myself. Accordingly, I asked David drill and install a glass soap-shelf I had bought online to replace an inferior Plexiglas shelf whose old location would have interfered with the shower door, and of course he complied without hesitation. Lastly, David had to build a 3" long, 1/8" caulk "dam" at the bottom of the glass-glass corner joint adjacent to the long wall. He called first to arrange a time and came by the next day to remove a final shim he had used to prevent that "dam" from being smeared by the potential movement of the glass until it had cured. The "dam" was to close the space created by using, at my request, a true "U" clip on the small glass wall adjacent to the door bottom to avoid any possibility of snagging a foot on the usual clip during entry. Much to our surprise, and my spouse's delight, when he came back, he also replaced the "plain" top corner clip he had with him and used on the first day with one having a built-in chromed robe hook! Bottom line, there is no better job of bathroom renovation, and no better set of meticulous employees that those provided by FBT Tile and Marble.
Description of Work: Partial bathroom remodel consisting of rebuilding a leaking raised shower area floor, demolition of the same and the now outdated bright red three-wall tile enclosure, and measurement of a complete frame-less glass shower enclosure.
HORRIBLY!!! FBT kept lowering the price everytime we said we had a better price from another vendor!! We eventually cancelled the contract before getting ANYTHING done!!
Description of Work: We were still in the planning process of getting our kitchen done yet they wanted a 'good faith check' we asked several times about what was included and what wasn't, they sent a cabinet guy to the house and he said YES what he was showing us was included in the price FBT gave us. Afterwards FBT sent us a revised price that was $6,000.00 MORE than the original price they quoted saying the 'cabinets we chose were NOT the ones we agreed on'. After getting some other quotes for flooring etc and personally speaking to Frank and Jason they sent us to another email and lowered their price by several thousand dollars!! Yet they were STILL several thousand dollars MORE than the other vendors who were giving us more and better options. After more emails we decided to cancel the contract, we NEVER scheduled a date or anything like that, just some very primarily design plans that Jason did in a few hours, yet Frank REFUSED to return our deposit saying he was keeping 10% of it 'for office work and scheduling us on the calendar that now had to be replaced by someone else'!! This is a HORRIBLE business practice and he essentially took our money while we were STILL in the very preliminary planning process while providing us with NOTHING but heart ache and a smaller bank account!!! I will NEVER recommend them to ANYONE EVER and in fact HIGHLY RECOMMEND you take your business elsewhere!! EVERY other vendor gave me their best price FIRST while FBT asked me how much my budget was and then didn't even meet that number by OVER $2,000.00!! Then when we told Frank we had a better price he lowered his price somewhat, when we again suggested he wasn't even in the ballpark he offered to lower his price AGAIN!!!! I felt like he was a used car dealer and wanted to make as much money as he could and only lowering it because I asked!! Pelosi Wood floors beat FBT's price by OVER $4,000.00 with FAR more and much better options, and JLM Tile beat FBT's kitchen remodeling price by OVER $5,000.00!! JLM even gave us the premium cabinets that FBT wanted to charge us $6,000.00 extra for!!

All I can say is that we are overwhelmed by the quality and professionalism of the work that was done by FBT Tile and Marble. We worked with Frank, the owner, to obtain a quote and answer many questions we had, and he always promptly answered calls and emails. We lucked out as we confirmed and finalized the price quote for the job on Monday, and they started the work that Wednesday (it was a total of 2 1/2 days work). This was a small/medium size job (about 39 sq ft), but involved some intricate patterns that required lots of planning and adjustments. Charlie, the crew chief that supervised the work was simply amazing. Meticulous, knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate for his work. Sean, the tile cutting expert, was amazing at cutting intricate pieces that were needed around the stove. And Jason did an amazing job at the grouting and sealing of the entire worksite Can't recommend these folks highly enough. I will hire them in the future on any work that we need done!

We are extremely pleased with the work of FBT Tile! Throughout the process they demonstrated all the attributes you want in a contractor--a high degree of professionalism, a willingness to listen to the homeowner and provide thoughtful suggestions, and a commitment to getting the job done right. Jason was our project lead and from the beginning he was easy to work with and attentive to details. He quickly responded to our inquiry and came to the house to provide an estimate. Since he is a project foreman he was astute to make recommendations to our plans to improve functionality or design. That gave us great confidence we would not be surprised by plan changes when actual construction began. The project started on the date they promised and progressed on the planned schedule. Our installation team was led by Walter and he was assisted by Al. Both were extremely courteous and took great care to check in with us to make certain we were pleased with the work. Walter is a extremely skilled in making the tile cuts and installing the tile. He maximized the tile we had purchased which reduced waste and cost to us. He was very meticulous in planning out the tile layout and making certain the installation was of high quality. Al had a great attitude and was willing to tackle any task. He helped keep the work area clean and did a great job painting the bathroom. He was also patient when we changed paint colors mid-stream. We are completely satisfied with the work by FBT and would definitely recommend them to other Angie's List members.

We used FBT Tile in a prior year for a guest bathroom remodel. This time it was our Master Bathroom remodel. The project involved complete demolition and removal of existing bathroom, installing new porcelain tile floor, new shower and glass shower doors, installation of vanity, tub and toilette as well as installation of all new fixtures. The shower involved building a shower pan with water proof material and installation of floor tile. The FBT tile crew took about three weeks for the job, started early in the morning every day, cleaned up every evening and the project went relatively efficient and all of it got done right the first. The crew explained all the steps well and listened to us how we wanted certain tiles and shower niche set. The bathroom looks great and all the plumbing works well. The crew did a great job and we are happy with our new bathroom. Work was done efficiently and all the scheduling of the various jobs throughout the project worked out well before Christmas. We will definitely use FBT Tile crew again in future. Thank you!

Very high quality work. Fit and finish is excellent. We felt comfortable giving them a key to our house and experienced no problems. They installed a new powder room vanity and faucet, making all connections. They repaired walls that were probably beyond the scope of the job. They did an excellent job of some wood trim work on a step up to the tile, and also used a piece of scrap they stained to fix something in my kitchen cabinets without me even asking. They were recommended to me so I didn't do much price shopping, but it seems alike a lot for the labor ($8,400 - 10% for Angie's List members) but at least one person and often three were here for over a week. They also hauled the washer and dryer from upstairs to downstairs (moved as part of the project, but that is above and beyond) AND hauled an old set from the basement to the garage for my disposal. Even if the price was high, the value was high as well. I would use them again and would recommend them to a friend.
Description of Work: Installed new tile in the hallway, kitchen, breakfast room, powder room, and laundry room.
A good job. I supplied marble floor tiles and threshold purchased from a large home improvement store. Asked contractor back to clean off dried adhesive material that was left to dry on surface of one tile - and he did. I didn't care for the old adhesive that remained at the bottom of the adjoining bathtub when the job was complete (lower floor), but I guess that wasn't his fault since his job was only to replace the tile. Would hire again.
Description of Work: Retile hall bath floor and grout.
Beautiful - we continue to get compliments on our lovely new bathroom, which we anticipate becoming the master bath as we age and move to the main level. All the work was done on time, and to our extreme satisfaction. We selected FBT because of a prior excellent experience in 2007 when they retiled our master bathroom and replaced the vanity top.
Description of Work: Remodel of main bathroom - replaced all wall and shower tile, added an accent border around 3/4 of the walls, installed new lights and vanity top with Terastone (two sinks), removed tub and installed full-length folding glass doors for shower with linear drain (wheelchair accessible), grab bars, and folding shower seat, installed beautiful slate floor, installed additional new door from adjoining bedroom, repainted. Removed and repositioned huge mirror over the vanity.
Frank Brennan, owner of FBT, created fantastic first impression upon initial contact. He was prompt, courteous, responsive, provided an itemized quote for all work, and then allowed us to pick which room we wanted completed (i.e., phase work to be done). Because of his workload, we had to wait 8 weeks before the job could be started. Once the work was ready to start, the 2-person crew showed up early, made sure to protect floors to/from the front door to the bathroom, were always polite, and communicated clearly with us when problems arose. We encountered several problems once the project started, due to questionable repairs by previous owner(s). 1) Upon tearing up original flooring in bathroom, we found a non-existent subfloor that was more sand/dirt than wood. At one point, we were able to poke a hole through remaining subfloor and see into basement! Never deterred, Charlie and Jason ripped out the rotten parts, installed new subfloor where required, ensured studs were secure enough to accommodate existing tub (which was not supposed to be removed), and completed the flooring portion. 2) The shower tiling design had to be modified based on existing plumbing. The reason for modification was clearly explained and it was an easy decision to allow them to tweak the design to accommodate the realities of the home's construction. Additionally, because of the re-tile, the piping for the shower head did not extend far enough to allow proper fit of the shower head. FBT sent their plumber to extend the pipe. 3) Part of the job involved reinstalling the existing vanity once the floor was complete. Once the vanity was removed, however, we discovered plumbing issues that needed to get fixed and the need for a new vanity. FBT sent their plumber to the site so he could re-pipe the sink and allowed us time to get a new vanity. Some drywall touch-ups were required at the end of the job. FBT sent someone to skimcoat the drywall AND touch-up some of the grout that hadn't set from the initial installation. Every single person representing FBT made sure the whole job was done right and that we were happy from start to finish. We were thrilled with the customer service as well as the quality of the work and will be using FBT for future home improvements!
Description of Work: Retiled bathroom floor, installed shower niche and retiled shower.
We had selected FBT by checking them out on Angie's List for another bathroom remodel. They were so good, that we asked them to do this bigger project as well. Prior to the start, we worked with FBT to pick out the granite for the countertop and sink with their preferred supplier. They arrived on the agreed upon day ready to work. Carlos took out the old floor, toilet and vanity and installed the new floor, toilet and vanity cabinets the first week. Someone from the granite company came to measure for the countertop. That was the first week. We were visited by Mark (site supervisor) early the next week with bad news. The granite slab we had selected had an inclusion in it that made it unsuitable for use as a countertop. Unfortunately, that was the last slab of that particular granite group. (As an aside, Mark told me that granite slabs are sold in lots of 7 slabs, and when all the slabs in a lot were gone, it would be effectively impossible to find an exact match given that the rock forms naturally.) It took a couple of days to find an alternate slab of granite that would go with the cabinets, floor tile and wall color. It took a week after that to get the countertop cut, finished and delivered. When FBT delivered the countertop (with sink pre-installed), they attached the new faucet in the countertop and fitted it to the vanity. The backsplash granite pieces were cut a bit too long by the supplier, but FBT had the right tool to quickly cut them down to the right size. They then connected the faucet and drain lines and tested them. All went well. Next they cut into the wall to put in the new electrical outlet, ran the wires, put in the box, and rewired the light switches. Mark came by twice and also pitched in to get the work completed. Then they patched the holes replastered as needed and primed the all the areas where they had plastered. They hung the wall medicine cabinet and put in all the drawer pulls.. All done that day. Finished! Looks great! All of the people involved were most polite, helpful, pleasant and cooperative. I would unhesitatingly use them again.
Description of Work: FBT remodeled my master bathroom. They took out the old floor tile, toilet, and vanity. They installed a new GFI electrical outlet, rewired the light switches, put in a new tile floor, toilet, 3 new floor cabinets for the vanity, granite countertop (about 63" by 23") with sink and faucet, hung a wall medicine cabinet and put in the drawer and door pulls. We purchased the toilet, cabinets, faucet and the drawer pulls separately. We repainted the walls.

We could not be happier with our choice to work with FBT. Beginning with our initial contact with Frank, we received professional, consistent, and timely service. Frank and his team went above and beyond! We were working within time restraints and Frank did everything possible to get us on the schedule with multiple crews so the work could be done quickly. Onsite, Jason, was helpful with suggesting changes to the original tile drawings to enhance the quality of the esthetics and functionality. He also was extremely patient and accommodating to several delays caused by our general contractor, and stone countertop installers. Jason continued to provide the same level of amazing service that began with Frank. The quality of the installation met our high expectations-with several different crews on site, it is clear that FBT offers a consistent service. We would not hesitate to work with FBT again in the future and have already begun recommending them to friends that are planning renovations that involve tile work.

Frank, the owner came by to give a quote. He was on time and friendly. He quickly grasped what we wanted to achieve and accepted a $100 coupon from FBT that I printed out from the Angie's List website. He got a quote back to me in the timeframe promised. It was about what he had said it would be so we accepted it. As soon as we we signed the proposal, Frank gave us a scheduled start date. Jason, the project manager, Carlos and Kenneth arrived, right on time. After a quick check on the bathroom, Jason gave me his card and said to call or text with any questions. Carlos and Kenneth took the door off the hinges to make it easier to work, took the vanity, sink, faucet and toilet that I had removed prior to their arrival down to their truck and then started to work. They removed the old floor tile and base tile and the "mud" underlayment. They then put down mastic on the concrete floor. On top of that they put down an orange plastic material. On top of that went more quick set material and started putting the tile in. They applied it in a diamond pattern. Each tile (12" on a side) was laid down carefully and leveled. Every tile was set to be at the same height and level with all the other tiles. The whole floor was flat and level and the space between each tile was exactly the same. Very nice! Before Carlos installed the base tile, he helped me install the replacement vanity. We got it level and secured to the wall. Then he put up the base tile. Finally he put in the grout. It looks lovely! Carlos and Kenneth were very friendly and quite respectful of the condition of my home. They used drop clothes everywhere they needed to work or walk. They maintained a clean work space (at least as clean as it could be and still be chipping up tile). When they left they cleaned up. When they left, they said I could walk on it the next morning. After finishing installing the vanity, sink and faucet, I started on installing the toilet. Unfortunately, I found that when they put in the new tile, the level of the floor was lower than the original and the new toilet could not be set on the flange. The problem was that the cast iron waste pipe stuck up too high above the flange given that the new floor was lower than the original. I called Jason to explain the issue and he promised to come by the next day to look at the issue. Jason arrived on time and after looking at the situation for a moment, he said that FBT could resolve the issue and that they would install the toilet for me. He sent Carlos over the next day (today as I write this) to cut the cast iron waste pipe level with the flange. He then proceeded to install the toilet for me. Also very well done. No extra charge for this service. Very nice! I have another bathroom to re-tile and I will definitely use FBT for that. Call me a customer for life! Highly recommended!

Excellent - Frank made suggestions for tile selection and mounting that were great, and we still love our 'new' bathroom, 10 years later. I visited showrooms to select all materials, for which Frank then arranged delivery. Installation was quick and completed as scheduled. We requested a bid to tile our basement floor, but decided to stay with carpet to reduce costs. We have asked him to bid on our kitchen remodel, and look forward to working with him.

Frank and his staff are consummate professionals, prompt, knowledgeable and polite. Frank called be immediately to assess my needs and provide an estimate and was very flexible with me regarding my service dates when I had issues with my plumber's availability. Fortunately for me, I had a new plumber come in and make repairs without having to go thru my tile. When I reached back out to notify Frank, he promptly returned my deposit. Based on this level of customer service, I wouldn't hesitate to reach out to FBT to regarding any future ceramic tile work!

The service was ok. They have some good people. They doubled the time of the project that was initial planned. They had to re-level our floor so it took longer. Our hardwood floor became really slippery from the fine dust for a long time. At one point they were really off track and not really focusing. After I complained they did begin to pay more attention to their customers needs.

Very professional and attention to detail over the course of ten days. We had to wait a few days for back-ordered parts, but the quality was worth it.
I have hired many many contractors. I wish they could all be like FBT. So many good things to say about this company... where to start? They know what they are talking about! We had a leaking ceiling in our basement and thought that the pipes in the master bathroom were the problem. Frank came to our house and did a thorough inspection of the leak, to include removal of a small piece of drywall so he could be sure of what was going on. He was able to point out exactly what was wrong and show us the evidence. Unfortunately, it turned out that it wasn't the pipes but that our shower pan had failed, and it was going to need to be replaced. Also unfortunate was the fact that our tile was no longer available, so we were faced with having mismatched tile in the shower compared to the rest of the bathroom or replacing the tile in the entire bathroom. We opted for the latter and we are so glad we did! They are innovative and creative! Frank had great design ideas and awesome products for us to choose from. We agreed on a design that included a linear drain on the shower floor, which allowed for the curb to be removed, and also a large 30x30 inch niche on the back shower wall that would have several floating granite shelves to match the new floating granite bench. Materials selection was very efficient and made easy by the top notch suppliers that Frank chooses to use. They are exceptionally professional! Once the work began, the crew was here every morning by 7:15 (they asked how early they could start and we said early and they took us up on it!) and worked all day long and into the late afternoon. There were quite a few nights that I was starting to wonder if they were going to go home for dinner. I honestly have no idea when they ate lunch - it seemed like they were always working! They were always pleasant and polite and worked diligently and with great care. You could tell they were not cutting any corners. They also took great care to minimize dust (covered the furniture in my bedroom every single day) and make sure nothing was damaged (there was a barrier that went down on the floor leading from the exterior door to the bathroom for the duration of the project and every day they added a second cloth on top which they took up every night). They are amazing craftsmen! When we encountered duct work and plumbing that was not well placed in the wall where the niche was supposed to go, they quickly provided a solution and did the additional work quickly and with great care. Despite this big rework, the job was not thrown that far off schedule. Probably because they worked so hard and so long every day. Additionally, Frank noticed that the tile we chose was solid all the way through, so we had the option of having the bull nose edge custom cut on the border tiles instead of using the standard bull nose pieces at all of the edges. This is not an easy thing to do - it has to be PERFECT. Well, they did it and it absolutely is. It looks amazing and adds to the already clean looking installation. I would recommend this company without hesitation to anyone. They are worth every single penny spent and I love my new bathroom. The entire project, along with the outcome, far exceeded my very high expectations.
Description of Work: Remodeled master bathroom including installation of new frameless glass doors in this bathroom and a second in the basement.

I'm a Property Manager for 200+ private properties and I love Frank and the team at FBT! I found him here on Angie's List and could not be more impressed. His first job for us was a complicated, emergency job. He even offered to help with the plumbing portion! His work was clean and well done. His team is professional and courteous. I feel he prices items and labor fairly and does a fantastic job! We have used FBT for small and larger jobs and I have to say they are very impressive. I will use them whenever I have a tile or other related issue-FBT is my first call.
Description of Work: This vendor had to completely replace a tub and pipe system underneath, including replacing the floorboards.

We had recently added a 14x20 room onto our house and wanted to install tile with radiant heating. The room extends from the mainfloor and out over our patio so we knew it would be colder than the rest of the house. We purchased the house about 3 years ago and the previous homeowners had installed new tile in the kitchen and dining room and while it looked well enough it wasn't professionally done and some tiles were starting to lift and crack. We also wanted to do radiant heat in these rooms as well - namely because my mother-in-law and wife get cold very easily and in talking to our realtor we knew this would be a bonus to the value of the house. Fast forward - 3 previous contractors who were reported 'experts' in tile and radiant heating and who, upon their site inspections clearly were not. Add to this DOZENS of hours spent at HD, Lowes (both knew nothing about the radiant floor heat products they sold and one was adamant that they didn't even sell such products), Online forums etc in trying to become a radiant heat expert. Also, we were hesitant about the cost of re-tiling the kitchen/dining room at the same time as the additional room because of cost. One 'expert' agreed we didn't need to do both. FBT Tile and Marble. Their expert Mark came out and did the estimate and pointed out things we hadn't thought of, listened to our concerns about cost, QUALITY, etc and we felt very assured he knew what he was talking about. Got the estimate and while higher than we expected (went much higher when my wife selected her tile :)), but we had nothing really to base it on and we are fine with paying quality to get quality. Contract signed. Start date - AMAZING how much work these guys did to seal off our house and keep it as clean and clutter free from the work areas! there was a LOT of demo work involved and they were awesome. Inprocess - We could see how much PREP work they had done to the floors and surfaces before they even began laying the wires for the radiant heat. These workers really busted their backs and worked very late on several days and on SAT. The project manager said they had other projects to get to (good sign when companies are backlogged) so asked if they could work SAT and we were happy to 'oblige'. This is worth mentioning because even though these guys worked long hours they were still incredibly professional (cleaned up the job site and their tools EVERY day), did great work, worked hard and they never once appeared to take any shortcuts. In addition, when their electrician showed up (several times) to assess and then perform the work it was clear they knew what they were doing. They didn't rush it, did it right and even corrected a couple of items that existed in the house. So we spent a lot (for us) of money, but couldn't be happier and there is just no way we'd have been able to ever get this project done using any of the other so-called experts and certainly not by ourselves. We highly recommend FBT Tile and Marble and will certainly use them again as they're worth every dollar spent.
Description of Work: They removed old tile in our kitchen and dining room and laid down new tile in both of these rooms as well as an additional room that had recently been added to our house. More importantly/critical they also installed radiant heating in all of these rooms.
