Chris was able to install the part in very little time. I purchased the part separately as they would have needed to order it, so this saved me a little money in the long run. Once the part was installed, Chris remained onsite for a time to ensure that the Hot Water Tank was functioning properly and that there were no questions.

Service tech came out to our house 3 times. First time, he tried (unsuccessfully) to locate the septic tank. He suggested that I get info from the health Department on the exact location of the tank. I did and he came out a second time and was able to locate the tank. Tank was pretty deep and in rocky soil. He said he could hand dig, but recommended bringing in a small tractor to dig it up because they charge more for hand digging per hour and tractor was a flat rate. Same tech came out a third time and dug up tank and pumped/cleaned. He was super friendly each time and we were never charged for the first 2 visits. They were full of good advice and helped me solve the problem without spending a bunch of money. I would recommend them to a friend.

I own a rental property in Ruckersville and live in another state, so I had no knowledge of local service providers. I found Roto-Rooter of Ruckersville on Angie's List and was very pleased. I needed the plumber to coordinate a convenient time with my tenant, and they were able to do so. The woman in the office who took my initial phone call was very helpful. The plumber arrived on time and identified the source of the leak and replaced a leaking shower head. He had to cut into drywall on the lower level to trace the source of the leak using a camera. Before he cut into the drywall, he called me from the property to make sure it was okay to do so. My tenants also report that he was professional and respectful of their home while he was there. I was pleasantly surprised that the total bill was only $200. Roto-Rooter will now be my go-to plumbers if any more issues arise at this rental property.

Identified problem and cleared drain to septic which put us back in operation

The charge starts from wherever the truck is coming. We called at 9AM and were told the person would be there in a half hour. He didn't end up coming until 1:30 in the afternoon because the previous job had complications. They never called to explain that the man would be much later. That is the only complaint we had.

RR arrived in the afternoon and poked around with the equipment they had but could only go a limited distance. They were unable to complete the task day one after 3-4 hours on site. They explained that they needed different equipment due to the distance of the line. They returned day 2 towing a large "snakeing" unit plus the equipment with video capability that they did not have on day one. I was informed of a fee of somewhere around $1000 to bring out the big equipment which they were able to use to resolve the problem. They wasted several hours on day 2 since they could not figure out where a corregated pipe ended after putting their snake more that 200 feet into it. That seemed odd since they were only 100 feet from the house. I asked if they had dug into the ground t5o see which direction the pipe went, they had not. I got a shovel and dug 3 shovels of ground away from the collection box noting the line was not a drain line at all, but rather a line that made a u-turn back to the house to drain the downspouts. I was pleased to note that they did not charge me for all the wasted time, but also noted that if they had had the appropriate equipment with them the job could have been done in an hour or so, not 2 days. I think the cost was high for the result.

All this cost $423.34 (after a $20 coupon) which is too high for the amount of work that was required. On the plus side, the company called promptly after I pre-scheduled through the web site, showed up when they said they would and the two plumbers went about their business while I took care of mine. The work is good so far (it was done this morning). The company could save everybody some money by only sending out one person. Two plumbers were not needed. I have used this company before, but I plan to try others now that I have access to Angie's list ratings.

They were very prompt and gave us good quality work for a very fair price. They ended up having to use several different sized snakes to see what the issue was and worked late into the day as we had an open house the next day. They were very professional and courteous and I would certainly recommend them!

Came same-day and was professional and did a good job. Only downside was the cost, which was a bit high, but not too unreasonable.

They came out right away and replaced it. They were in and out and did a good job. I have used them before in the past for several plumbing problems and sewer cleaning.

I had a sewer backup into my finished basement - an awful mess. I called them and within hours they arrived. The serviceman found the cleanout rooted out my sewer pipe, found tree roots, and then because my pipes were PVC and only 12 years old he got his scope and ran it down the pipe to find the problem. Found that the pipe was incorrectly connected to the county sewer lines 70 feet away from my house. I asked if there was anyway that he could locate it literally in my backyard. He got some more equipment and walked around my wooded backyard, through raspberry briers, weeds, and thorns for 10 minutes. Finally, he located the spot and marked it with a stake for me. (Because the repair by them of approximately $1500 was more than I could afford and I was going to do it by myself).When it came time for the bill he presented me the bill for $250 for the cost of the rooting only. The rest he said "didnt take him very long and he was happy to help me out". Well I am going to dig up the pipe myself this month and then call them back to do the repair on the pipe. They are going to be my plumbers for life - I cant say enough about what a great experience I had with them.

They came on a Thursday after we reported gurgling sounds around the house and backup in the shower and run-off in the basement. They came and rooted out the line from the basement to the county line (75 ft). Then inspected the results with a scope (another $100 on the bill which was now $400 or so). The line was still holding water because tree roots had infiltrated so widely. They suggested replacing the line (for $2800.00). I said could they do it for $2500? They said -- "we'll waive today's $400 and we'll come back on Monday and replace it for $2600.00". Which is exactly what they did. Courteous, efficient (they were done by 2:30PM) -- but I'm still getting over the cost of it all ...

Roto-Rooter office was scheduled to call between 9A - 11A. On March 5, 2012 Office called at 12:00 Noon. Appointment scheduled for 1 P - 3 P for March 6, 2012. After scoping JB gave bid of $7,300.00 to pull liner through existing sewer line. March 19th date was scheduled to explain procedure of work. Meanwhile found contractor to do job cheaper. Cancelled meeting scheduled on 19th. Manager called wanting to know reason for cancellation. Told him cost was reason.

They are reliable. I would recommend them to anyone in need of plumbing services.

I went to online site and made an appointment. I received confirmation for 2 hour window. I arranged to take off of work for the window. They didn't show for the appointed time. They didn't call. When I asked when they were coming - they replied when we get there. they then told me there would be "special" fee to service my area - AFTER the fact. I canceled everything and started looking for new company. STAY AWAY!

They arrived right on time, looked at the the problem, discussed several possibilities with me (including the possible price and the ramifications of having a septic system versus being tied into the sewage system) and got to work right away. Fortunately they were able to fix the clog right away and were in and out in less than a hour. A bit expensive but worth the price.

They truly are sales people. They ended up talking my fiancé into buying a $60 bottle of pipe protector and replacing the piece of pipe. Replacing the piece of pipe was unnecessary. All we needed done was for the pump motor to be reattached and for the septic tank to be inspected because their was an earthquake that caused the pump motor to slide off of the pipe which allowed the septic to leak in the basement. They also left without honoring the Angie’s List coupon when they were well aware of it. I have called them back many times and they keep telling me they will get back to me but they have yet to call me back.

The fix was done quickly, professionally, and neatly.

The technician responded to a Sunday morning call to check on a lack of water coming into the house by arriving later that afternoon. He then spent two hours testing the switch, guage and tank on the well. When nothing conclusive was determined, he said he would return later in the week to measure the depth of the well, thinking that perhaps it had run out of water or that the pump wasn't low enough. He returned on Thursday as scheduled, tested the water depth without pulling the pump, thereby saving me at least $700, and then found a problem in the toilet. He addressed that and gave me some dye to use to test for further leaks in the toilet. He suggested I put a low-water cut-off switch on the well pump and I agreed. When he called later to schedule that job, I told him I had changed my mind, but he came by anyway to check on the toilet. In all he spent about 6 hours at the house, talked me through each test he performed and made recommendations as to how to deal with the situation in the long term.

I've used Roto Rooter a couple of times for ceptic kinds of service and have always felt that I have been treated fairly, price wise definitely cheaper than Speedy Rooter in Crozet. The guys who've come out have always been good at giving advice for moving forward with other repairs as well and doing just what needs to be done and not tacking on a bunch of extras. I am often home alone when services are being provided and I've always felt comfortable with the guys who have come out.. So, I really appreciate all of that. I liked the technician I had worked with before and he told me that RR did regular plumbing type of stuff too so I requested him for this job -- replacing faucets. I was told he would be out between 10 and 12 but he did not arrive till 2:30. I was kept abreast of these delays and I was home and not on a schedule so this was not a problem for me. He came out, looked at what would be required, went out to the truck, looked at the price book, came in and quoted me a price. It seemed high, but he said (and this was later confirmed when I looked at the book) that he was actually giving me a pretty good discount for the services he was providing compared to the RR book price. Even so, I hadn't checked around to see how much this kind of service typically is and was a little blindsided by the cost. So, in short, I thought I was treated fairly by the guy who did the job for us given the confines within which he has to work. I could have said "no" after he gave me the estimate, but at that point I just wanted my kitchen sink to be functional again. In the future I would check around with local plumbers first to see what they would charge for these kinds of jobs. The total price was $271, but $35 of that was a dispatch charge to Crozet (from Ruckersville). I also used a $20 coupon I got off the web. So, for ceptic service -- I wouldn't hesitate to call them. For plumbing services, I'll have to do a little more research on average labor charges.
