Description of Work: Checked 30-year old heating-oil furnace and, after a very thorough examination, proved conclusively that it had finally suffered major breakage of key parts. Confirmed that repairs would be way too expensive to justify, because of how antiquated the furnace was. Designed a reasonable HVAC replacement system, removed furnace, cleaned up the sooty mess it left behind, and skillfully sited and installed a very effective and pretty reasonably priced HVAC unit, and the necessary ducting and electrical improvements. They made it easy, did it quickly and pleasantly, came very close to quoted cost (a minor mis-communication), and inspired a high amount of confidence.

Description of Work: The technician was very professional and knowledgable. He was able to fix the blunder of another technician (different company) and get our heat working correctly. Highly recommended!

Description of Work: Listen up people! Here's my story: David repaired a REALLY old boiler/furnace that several companies would only consider replacing at $6K+. In fact, one company (F----) said it COULD not be repaired. Well now I know they just didn't either know how to fix it or didn't want to. | |David told me what he was doing and he came when he said he would. It took longer than I think he figured, but he stuck with it, cleaned out my chimney, drained my tank, fixed the wires on my thermostat--so many little things. He recommended I get a carbon monoxide detector (something no one else has even mentioned!). I'm so impressed with this guy and pleased I've found someone on whom I can rely to tell me the truth about my system and not out to make a quick buck. I'm telling all my friends, neighbors, anyone who'll listen!

Description of Work: Checked both heat pumps. Cleaned coils; cleared drains; cleaned blower wheels; cleaned filters; replaced capacitor inside for heat pump serving the upstairs; replaced outside capacitor for same heat pump as it was approaching out-of-range condition; and serviced loose caps on both heat pumps to prevent Freon leakage. Appreciate their thoroughness and professionalism.

Description of Work: They got there quickly for a routine check, seemed to do a good job, wound up leaving the switch off, so it went from working to not working, but they came back late that night when it was clear there was something wrong and flipped the switch and it was working perfectly, so they were super responsive to fixing a mistake, which i appreciate.

Description of Work: Spring maintenance. Went great. He made a few minor adjustments to hopefully help with the system performance. | |When he finished I had him go to my son's house to do the Spring maintenance. While there he made some major adjustments that probably saved a more expensive repair and also should make a difference in the performance of his system.

Description of Work: They corrected things that had been installed incorrectly several years ago. He was very patient, answered a lot of questions and explained things along the way. I would definately use his services again.

Description of Work: I used a $49 coupon from Angie's List, so I can't approximate the normal cost, although I believe it's around $180. Anyway, David Ashcom himself came and although I live out of his service area, he honored the coupon. He was professional, made some adjustments in my Heat Pump system, gave me an assessment of the system's health, and was all-around helpful and, I believe, honest! I'd definitely recommend them, and I'd use Ashcom Heating & Cooling again.

Description of Work: They never got in touch although I gave them three alternative days. I have sent them an e-mail requesting some action but , so far, no reply.

Description of Work: They arrived on time and were polite throughout. They replaced cooling fluid and installed a drain trap. I suspected that I would need cooling fluid, and labor charges were not excessive, so it seemed like a reasonable bill. The only thing that surprised me was that they installed the drain trap without asking permission first -but it was a small thing. I will use them again in the future.
