I have used David Ashcom for two mini-split installations and repairs & maintenance on 3 different homes. They do great work at a very reasonable price. He is knowledgeable and doesn't try to up sell you on things you don't need. They also clean up well after the job is complete. I will definitely be using this company again in the future.

Ashcom Heating has been a great company to work with. They were able to come out promptly and knew exactly what to do.

I had had a heat pump "tuneup" by an unnamed company in November and I was told the defrost board was not functioning and it would cost about $550 to fix it. I made no decision immediately but after finding the cost of the defrost board on line I thought the repair price was high. I chose David Ashcom from reviews on Angie's list and called asking to have the defrost board replaced. The woman I spoke with was very helpful and she said her husband liked to assess the heat pump himself and would charge $75 for that service. When I asked what the approximate cost for replacing the defrost board the quote was considerably less that the $550, so I engaged their services. I received a call from the woman at Ashcom's office after the repairman had looked at my heat pump and she stated he found nothing wrong with the defrost board. I was incredulous and she had the man check again but again following testing he found nothing wrong. So $75 was all I paid and my heat pump has been working well through this cold winter. I know i will never call the first company again but will definitely call on David Ashcom for any heating and air conditioning problems. It is refreshing to find honest people these days.

Mr. Ashcom did a thorough check of my heat pump system, changing the filter, making adjustments, and diagnosed a small problem part that needed immediate fixing, so he took care of that as well. One issue I was having had to do with a noisy start and David actually flipped a "quiet" switch that my previous HVAC man had not done, which made the unit much quieter. David was willing to answer questions without a problem; he mentioned things to watch for, since my system is a little older; he did not seem to be looking for repairs that weren't necessary, which I appreciated. Also, I lived a bit outside of David Ashcom's usual service area, but he came anyway and he didn't have a bad attitude about the extra travel time. I liked his professional manner and would happily recommend him as an honest contractor. If he's willing to come back next year, I'll gladly hire him!!

Actually I was not happy with it. He is very skilled but he decided I needed an awful lot of antifreeze. He quoted me one price when he was here but then hen I got a different one when I got the bill. I emailed him and he made no response back and I'm assuming that means he's just not going to do anything. I wasn't here during the work but one of he tenants were. I thought the price was extremely high.

It went well. The cost was as advertised.

When our ancient a/c unit finally gave up the ghost it was during a hot spell and with company arriving in a few days. Angie's List showed great reviews so we gave David a call. He came out promptly to take a careful look. We had replaced the gas furnace in 2006 without replacing the a/c unit, so it was a tricky situation to retrofit the a/c accordingly. Based on his findings David wrote up 3 price options and reviewed them carefully with us. We went with his recommendation and the work was completed just in time for our company's arrival. We found David and his staff to be very pleasant and professional. We gained tremendous confidence in David's expertise and plan to be his customers now. For example, he was the first HVAC technician to accurately explain the proper use of the in-system humidifier we'd had installed with the gas furnace. It never seemed to work but everyone, including the company who installed it, indicated it was working properly. This had nothing to do with replacing the a/c but David volunteered the correct information and promised to get us up and running with it when the time comes. A+++

I was so impressed by his professionalism, energy and the extremely well-organized back-office support he gets from his fiancee, that I asked him to do the yearly maintenance on our three rental properties. He has a sort of laid-back personality, but he works very diligently and in a focused way.

All in all it went great. David and his assistant went above and beyond what I thought they were going to do. They were extremely professional, provided detailed responses to questions I had, and even returned free of charge two days later when I thought the A/C went out, but it was actually an electrical fuse box issue. I would definitely hire them for any needs in the future.

David was wonderful. He showed up on time, wore shoe covers in my house, and was efficient in his AC checkup. He noticed a few small things that needed to be repaired and came back later that day with the supplies he needed to complete the project. He was very helpful at explaining the work that needed to be done and I felt his prices were very fair. In addition, his admin Jessie did an excellent job of scheduling my appointment and sending the invoice promptly. I will definitely be calling him again.

It went well and there were no issues! The price was great because the others in the area charge hundreds of dollars. He also located and solved another problem. He was very professional and right on time. I’ll definitely use him in the future and I’ve already told my neighbors about him.

Mr. Ashcom was very knowledgeable and professional. I appreciate that he explained the work that needed to be done and the price. He did a fantastic job disassembling and cleaning my air conditioner which, unbeknownst to me, was FULL of dog fur. He also gave me a better filter to try. I was very pleased with the service provided.

Mr. Ashcom started his inspection with the inside unit. He checked the blower motor, filter, coils, and drain (which he cleaned). Next he thoroughly checked the outside A/C unit. He concluded that the system was "overcharged" and asked for my permission to remove the excess refrigerant. I gave my permission and he concluded his work. Hopefully this extra service will improve the performance of our A/C, but we'll have to wait for warmer weather to tell.

He was on time and professional. He completed the inspection to my satisfaction.

David is very responsive and professional. He did some complicated rerouting of the lines into our house and managed to fit an air handler into a space when another well known area HVAC company said it couldn't be done. When the brand new unit wasn't working properly this winter he immediately serviced it. He is definitely our go - to person for anything HVAC related. Thanks David.

It went very well. The technicians used booties to not track-in dirt-even when it was inconvenient for them. They replaced the filters at no extra cost (I had one, and they provided the other, but they do not charge for this service). I saw them do some of the work, not because I wanted to hover, but because I want to know what is happening in the systems in my house. We may be renting our property, so it is important all is in good working order and also to anticipate any potential problems. They found a part that was not up to specs-I did not double check if the parameters (that is just me, I tend to double check) were correct, but they did leave the part, so I can know what was changed. The part looks a bit corroded and it is vital for the working order of the unit. I chose to replace it since it is better to prevent than wait for it to not work. I have done some research since their departure and if it did not need changing right away, at least I know it will improve the function of the unit. I feel they were honest in telling me that it may need changing now, or later. Again, since they were here, I decided to go ahead and change the part. It would have been way more expensive to do this later. I think they did do a good job; I saw them really taking the unit apart and testing the different components. They were here for a good long while-they checked two units. My upstairs unit is very new, but needed refrigerant. They tested the unit afterward and it blew very cold supers fast, so when the temperature goes up, I know it will work just fine. I am very happy with the value and the peace of mind. I think it is a great service and I am glad Angie's list had a deal. I was unable to buy 2 off he website, but they honor the same deal for a second unit. The technician also explained some aspects of the inner workings of the unit, so I am very happy with all of it.

David came personally to look at the work that needed to be done and provided a quote soon thereafter. Then, after the work was completed, he returned to inspect the job for "quality control." We are very pleased with the promptness, professionalism and price. (Note: it was installed in our home in Earlysville, Virginia)

Our air conditioner stopped working over 4th of July. David is our normal heating and air person but he was out of town. We contacted Albemarle Heating and Air and were given bad news. The unit was so damaged that a repair would cost $1200 and probably would not hold a charge. They recommended replacement at cost of 12K. We dealt with the heat until David could offer his opinion. He repaired the "unrepairable" unit in less that 1.5 hours. It has functioned beautifully ever since. He has done work for us on in a commercial building as well. He is trustworthy and very reliable. Excellent service and value.
