Lions Fence

We contacted Richard for an estimate on adding a fence to our townhouse unit. We read the reviews on Angie's list and some that overall he had high scores. We attributed the low scores with just potentially difficult clients and we ignored them. However we feel that all those low scores for hard to communicate with as well as never hearing back from Richard are painfully accurate. After waiting about a week Richard finally called us back to schedule an appointment. At this point we had already had multiple companies out for estimates but we wanted one more to be positive we were comfortable. The day of Richard's appointment he had originally told us he had another job in Woodbridge so he'd be around promptly after that appointment. I get a call about 30 minutes after our scheduled appointment with him informing me that they had an EMERGENCY at another job and it required his immediate assistance. Again we tried to schedule another appointment and finally got Richard to commit to getting out to the property. When Richard did come out, he was extremely pleasant as well as professional. He asked plenty of questions and gave us a sense of a really great company. At that point we felt that maybe he was just having a bad couple of weeks and that is why it was so hard to get a hold of him. At the end of the meeting he let me know he'd email me over the estimate later that day. That was the last time I ever spoke to Richard. He has called me from his personal cell number in the past so when I could not get a hold of him, I called the number and left two messages. I even addressed that I was aware things come up and we would still like the estimate. Based on the reviews, its easy to see all the perfect ratings, but do not be like me and think the negative ones are wrong or skewed.

Gate was Ok. Needed some adjustments and some boards split. He NEVER RESPONDED to any of my calls that summer. By chance I ran into him at store and he acted clueless. And that was that.

They were awesome. Overall, it was excellent. It was a great experience. Their customer service was very good. I would absolutely use them again.

I waited for an hour on the appointment date, and never heard anything. I left multiple messages, and never got a call back. He was very professional when I did speak with him, so his lack of responsiveness is very puzzling.

We picked Lion's Fence to build our fence and we are so happy that we did! First, we walked around our neighborhood and saw that those fences with the Lion's Fence tag looked the best and strongest, even the older ones (our neighbor's is about 7 years old). We looked online and found good reviews for Lion's Fence and also talked to a neighbor, who highly recommended them. The owner, Richard, came over to give us an estimate. He was very professional and responsive and immediately gave us a great vibe. He didn't try to oversell anything and he absolutely seemed to know his job. The price he quoted was lower than the other two companies we had over, which made us ecstatic because Lion's Fence was our preferred pick anyway :-). Richard was very helpful throughout the process and kept us informed of what was going on. His crew was professional and hardworking. One of the things we didn't like about one of the other companies we had over was that the people that would be building the fence would be sub-contractors, companies we never met or could possibly research. Lion's Fence works the job, no sub-contractors, and it showed. Richard kept an eye on things and came by while the crew was working, but it almost seemed like he didn't need to. The crew knew what needed to be done, did it in an organized way, and cleaned up everything before they left. Our property is almost an acre and the whole backyard was fenced in just a couple of days. Towards the end, Richard let us know that they had run out of wooden post caps, but that he had already ordered them and would have them installed as soon as they came in. They came in as he said, I think maybe 3 days, and they were installed without a glitch. It is a great thing when you feel you can trust a contractor, especially with a project like a fence, which is a significant expense. We highly recommend Lion's Fence! One more note... I can understand how customers (including myself) can get annoyed with getting voicemail when they try to reach out to a company. We did get the voicemail when we called Lion's Fence a couple of times... But, please don't let this discourage you. Richard always called us back and he's great with e-mails, too. I meant to ask him about the voicemail thing, but since he always called or wrote back, I didn't really have to. We are very happy with our fence and proud that we did our research and found a company that turned out to be what we expected.

Called Lyon's Fence and set up an apt with Richard. He came out and looked the job over and gave me an estimate for the work. We set up a time, but due to several days of rain he got behind and we had to reschedule. No complaints - we stayed in touch and I knew that the work was going to be done. On the day that the work was to be done, his crew showed up on time, and they were very efficient in getting the work done. The new fence looked great and the clean up was excellent.

A+ service. We have used Lions Fence in the past, and they did a great job replacing the fence in our townhouse a few years back. Once we decided to replace the fence in our new home there was no question and/or hesitation that we would reach out to Lions Fence again! Richard, the owner, was again very professional, knowledgeable, thorough, and punctual to conduct the estimate and to do the work. He listened to our ideas, our timeline, and most importantly our concerns for privacy and free range in the backyard for our family and our dog. The new fence was three time the size of the townhouse and Richard designed a beautil funce with lattice and diamond shaped caps on both gates. Richard and his crew also built a bigger gate so the landscaping company can goe in and out with ease. Its as if Richard read our minds. The finished product looks amazing, and we are the talk of our new neighborhood :-). Kudo's Lions Fence...We are extremely pleased with the service, quality and product. 't hired Lions to put a cedar fence around our yard in Arlington VA. We were very pleased with the results. The yard has a lot of slope to it, and the installers took the time and effort to really make the stepped fence around the perimeter look great. I remember thinking that these folks were really craftsmen, and the fence totally transformed the aesthetics of our yard. Richard was very helpful during the design and discussions, the installers did a great job, and the company stands behind their work. After the installation was completed, Richard mentioned we might need to have some adjustments made to the gates once things settle in Sure enough, a few weeks later the gates did need some tweaking, and they were very responsive in returning and doing what needed to be done. They were also very price competitive compared to the other firms we got estimates from. All things considered, we were very happy with the experience and would highly recommend them.

This is the third or fourth time we've used Lions Fencing. They have installed a large amount of fencing around our property with wire mesh to keep the dogs in. They also built a large gate to go across our driveway. They have been professional, resposonsive and the quality is great.

I could not believe that the crew completed this job i 1 day. My husband put up the original fence with some help from family members. It took 8 weeks to do. I left the house at 8:45 to go to Mass and returned at 9:30. They were not here when I left and when I cam back 50% of the old fence was already down! All of the old materials were removed from the work area and stacked neatly on the yard. New construction began immediately and was finished around 6:30. All old material and trash from the new construction were loaded on the truck and away they went. The yard was clean and nothing by sawdust gave evidence that construction had taken place. I love the new fence and can't wait to start landscaping the back yard. Would I use Lion's again? Absolutely! Would I recommend them to my neighbors? Without hesitation!

He did nothing and never even got back to us with an estimate. It was extremely unprofessional.

Richard and his crew were excellent and the fence looks terrific. The cost was much lower than the other quotes we received. We are very happy with our fence and have recommended Richard to neighbors as well.

This guy never showed up. The owner, Richard, gave me an estimate and we arranged a day to have the fence replaced. I took a day off of work and he didn't show up. I always give people the benefit of the doubt, so I called and left a message assuming I had the wrong day. He never responded. Over the next few days, I emailed and left about 3 messages - all very polite, he still hasn't responded. I've waited 3 weeks to post this in hopes that he would contact me. If he had an accident or something tragic happened to him, I'm sorry, otherwise he is a lousy businessman and I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND HIS COMPANY TO ANYONE.

Richard was very easy to work with, He gave us a very competitive quote and was able to meet our deadline. Crew worked fast and we ended up with a quality fence. Followed our specific requirements very well. Would use again.

Richard and crew were wonderful. They installed our fenced, fixed a gate, cleaned up, and followed up next day on job completed. The estimate was lower than others so while we were a tad worried, positive reviews from Angie's and Yelp, plus Richard's ideas and patience with questions we had made this company an easy choice. They even installed the fence 4 days earlier than planned. I hope friends and family will use Lions Fence. We'll recommend them to everyone without hesitation. Start to finish, this was the best contracting job we've ever had.

Fairly well. Disappointed in the quality of some of the wood used for the posts and slats--wood splits--even the posts have deep slits. Crew essentially "eyeballed" the installation rather than actually measuring and marking. Looks beautiful to "untrained" eye. Rear gate was wider than original thus arbor could not be installed; the company was supposed to come out and redo gate at a later date but never did. Encountered new problem today (7 months later): Electric power company had to dig out underneath one of the posts today to repair power line that had been damaged by Lion's installation of post/pouring concrete directly on top of power lines--even though yard had been clearly marked by Miss Utility prior to work being done. Have contacted company today to have them come out and reposition post and redo section of fence and gate. Will update with response.

Extremely well! I don't often rate any business as all "A," but Richard and Lions Fence and his crew earned it! We called him on the 12th and the fence was installed 6 days later. It meets our needs perfectly, he made excellent recommendations, and it looks great. I guess the best way to express my confidence in Lion's Fence would be to say that I would recommend them to my boss (I really like my job and want to keep it!).

The contractor stayed in touch through email and was flexible with the installation date due to the inclement weather this past month. The crew was on time as scheduled, finished in less than a day, left nothing for me to clean up, and there was no damage to my lawn or my neighbors'.

We had a very positive experience working with Richard. After reaching out to Lions Fence to get a quote on a new split-rail fence installation, Richard came within a couple of days to take measurements, discuss options (our yard is irregular-shaped), and provide a quote. His quote was competitive and he understood what we were trying to accomplish, so we scheduled the installation for about a week later. We were delayed for a week by a snow storm, but Richard's team came out and completed the installation as discussed, and the fence looks great. The experience was altogether very positive and I would definitely recommend Richard and Lions Fence.

Rich and his team did an excellent job! Not only did they have very reasonable price, but they built everything on site (no pre-built pieces). This was really nice since my yard has some slopes in it. Rich was very personable and easy to work with and made sure everything was done to my satisfaction. I have already received several compliments on our fence. Thanks Rich! I will definitely recommend Lions Fence to my friends and family.

I contacted Lions Fence to obtain an estimate for a cedar fence for a home I was in the process of buying. i dealt with Richard. I was very impressed with his professionalism and responsiveness. He was able to meet me at the home to discuss my needs and give me an estimate within a few days. We communicated a few times. I ended up selecting a different company because of a slightly lower price, but would not hesitate to contact Lions Fence in the future if I needed work done.

They responded the day after I left a note on their web site, were on time for the estimate, and were second-lowest out of four. They also proposed to use three horizontal stringers on each panel instead of the two offered by the two highest bidders, one of whom proposed a price $1200 above Lion. I had a very good feeling about Lion and actually felt a little guilty about not calling them back to see if they'd meet or beat the lowest bidder's price. I think they would have been a good choice.

Everything turned out great, I was pleased with their services, they were fast, and the quality was good.

Our neighbors used Lions fence, so we already knew what to expect from a quality perspective...Richard came out quickly and was very courteous. Was the quickest to schedule and most affordable of the three estimates that we got. Completed the work in one day, came back the next day with some missing caps. very satisfied.

Richard was here the day after I called Lions, to assess our needs and give us a $ quote. Installation was delayed until Richard was satisfied that cedar supplier had the best possible quality cedar to work with. Richard and his crew were here within 2 weeks to do the install. Work was completed within about 7 hours. (Richard was onsite the entire time, which was quite a relief as at least 1 post needed to be installed very close to gas line feeding the generator!) Richard also updated 2 gates to fencing he installed for us in 2008 (200+ feet of clear cedar privacy fencing around back of property.) This job went so smoothly! We would not hesitate to use Lions fence again, so long as Richard is at the helm! The work is beautiful and stands the test of time.
