Description of Work: Our AC had been giving us fits for the past few years. Actually for the last 3 we just used window units as our 20 year old system was just about shot. Finally had some money and we were expecting the worse(cost wise.) After reading Angie's List we called Blue Ridge Heating and Air. Kevin came out on 6/22 and did a very thorough inspection. At the end, and no surprise to me, he told us the compressor was shot and we were very low on Freon. He proceeded to give us estimates to replace the compressor and add Freon. Replace the A/C unit. Or to upgrade to a heat pump. Though I was working he was able to explain everything to my wife in a way she could relay the information to me with ease. I have gas heat so I didn't want the heat pump, plus our house was built in the 30's so Kevin had said there may have to be extensive wiring work done. I knew the compressor route was not for me as well, as the system was already very old and still used R12 Freon. It is expensive now, and will be completely be banned before the life expectancy of a new compressor was gone. So we went with the replacing the unit. That's the outside unit and the unit in our attic. We upgraded to a 3 ton Trane. Blue Ridge called us the following Monday to let us know when our unit was to be in, and set a date for 7\10 for the install. Kevin and James showed up on time, worked in crushing heat and humidity. They had the unit installed running and completely cleaned up and were gone before I got home from work at 5:30. The house now feels better than it ever did, the unit is quiet as well. I am not sure how big Blue Ridge is, but they were able to do all this when others we contacted could not even make it out to look at our unit. It is after all their busiest time of the year and Blue Ridge took care of our issues quickly and at a very fair price. We will definitely be recommending Blue Ridge to our friends or anyone who asks.
