Description of Work: Stokley's replaced my whole heating and cooling system which was over 15 yrs old. The motor had burnt out in my old one and I discovered it on a Sunday night just before a record heat wave had begun. They were so kind to fit me in the next day even though they were extremely busy, to say the least! Angelo came at 8:30 pm the next evening and stayed until 10:15pm helping me diagnose the problem. I did get 3 more quotes for systems but ended up going with this company due to their excellent reputation and the brand of equipment they use. They put in an AC window unit free of charge until they could do the actual install. Everyone I talked with has been so friendly and ready to help in any way. Tyco, Michael and Justin did a wonderful job installing the system with great attention to detail and pride in their work. The job went very smoothly and I am now a very satisfied and happy customer. Thank you to everyone at Stokley's!

Thank you for the great review and the wonderful words of praise. Please keep in mind that your duct system is in very poor shape and really needs to be replaced very soon. As this type of job takes at least a few days, you should try to plan on having it done between seasons so that you won't suffer from extreme heat or cold. We can try to help minimize any discomfort as we can provide window units or portable heaters while the work is being performed.

Frankly, I have never seen this happen before: not once. This may be an indication that your compressor is going bad so please keep an eye out. Your system is getting up there in years and you should prepare to replace it soon. In either case, we stood by behind our work and honored our word: we replaced it the 2nd time at no charge to you. Whoever put it in did not pay attention to Code Requirements at all. The tech noted several problems. Your system is getting old and the poor installation is not helping. Please start preparing to replace the system in the near future. If we do the work we can easily correct the installation mistakes that the other company made.

I'm not sure how to respond to this. While a "B" report card is not bad, I prefer to see an "A". In your case, we did some work for you last fall but you never authorized the repairs that needed to be done. I do understand that you had a Home Warranty that should pay for everything if you use their contractor. If I remember correctly they could not get anyone there in a timely fashion so you called us out. We noted the problems and never heard back from you. You don't seem dissatisfied with our service, but won't use us again. I suppose this is because you will just wait for your home Warranty to send someone out for free next time.

Thank you so much for the wonderful comments. I hope that your new mini-spilt system is everything that you hoped. I know that area of the house was uncomfortable because of all the glass, but the Mitsubishi units are designed to handle those problem areas with ease. I think that it was a good idea to send Tyco out to double check my initial survey of the area to make sure that the installation would work as needed was a smart decision. I have been doing this work for over 40 years and I wasn't sure that it could go the way we both wanted it to. Again, thank you for the wonderful review.

Description of Work: Initial appointment was for an a/c tune up. But the unit had stopped working. They got there the same day that I called, thoroughly cleaned the unit, replaced parts & got me up in fast fashion. They did a temporary fix so I could have cool air. They were awesome & I will probably use them to replace unit when it finally dies.

I'm glad that you were happy with our service and I am very happy that we were able to get your system up and running. Your system is not real old, but at 14 years it is starting to get up there. I certainly wouldn't recommend spending money on an expensive repair at this point. Please start preparing to replace it in the not too distant future. The extended period of excessive heat that we are currently experiencing is unlike anything I've seen before. It is creating a lot of problems for a lot of homeowners and it is getting hard to keep up. My guys have been working very long hours trying to keep up. Their spirits are good but I can see that they are getting tired. The demand for new air conditioners is so high that some manufacturers and the supply houses are running out of air conditioners. I urge people that know their system is getting old to do so before the weather is hot. When the heat comes we are always busy, but again, the current heat wave is unlike anything I've seen in the over 30 years that I've been at the family business.

Description of Work: When the technician came to evaluate and tune up my AC system a bevy of problems were discovered, unbeknownst to me. The technician stayed to troubleshoot and resolve, temporarily, the problems I had. Ultimately my entire system had to be replaced and Stokleys not only gave me a great price but they were able to install within days of scheduling and worked and finished quickly and neatly. Great service, great people!!

Thank you for the review and the compliments about our tech. I will make sure that he hears what you said. Please keep in mind that your a/c systems are EXTREMELY old: it appears to be 32 years old. I don't think I've ever seen a system last so long. Frankly, I'm surprised that they are still operating. Please prepare to replace it in the near future. A new system will save you roughly 35% on your air conditioning (and a good portion of your heating bill too). After 32 years, the existing system has certainly done it's job.

I'm glad that you were happy with our service. I'm not sure if our tech told you or not, but most heating and a/c units come with a 1-year warranty on labor (provided by the installing contractor) and 5-years on parts. When the equipment is installed, there is a warranty registration card. If the card is filled out within the allotted time, the warranty is upgraded to a 10-years on all parts. Unfortunately, there are far too many contractors that do not fill out the registration card or even let the homeowners know about it so they can do it. They are gambling that there will be a problem after the 5th year and then SELL you the part that you could have got for free (excluding the service call and labor). We prefer to fill out the card, which takes all of 5 minutes, and send it in for the customer. Sadly, the company that installed your system did not fill out the card and you had to pay for a part on an 8-year old unit that would have been free if they took a few minutes to fill it in. This is just another example of what separates us from our so-called competition.

Description of Work: This was a standard PM of my HVAC system. I found the technician to be very friendly and professional and took time to listed to my concerns and answer my questions. The service was relatively thorough yet I did not oversee everything that was done. Coils were cleaned as were the fins on my condenser unit. I asked if a leak check was done and the tech stated he did not see the need since the tell tale signs of a coolant leak were not present. Then I asked what my coolant charge level was at the tech told me he did not hook up the gauges but took temps at each of the supply in my home to determine cooling capabilities. I understand the theory but really would have liked to know what kind of charge my system had plus this is a good indicator of a possible leak. The technician brought to my attention a couple items that need attention, new contactor on the heat strips, rusted drip pan, and my ductwork needs a major overhaul. All these issues I found to be very valid and once I can work them into my budget, I will probably give them a call to make the repairs. For these reasons I'm giving a B grade. | |I gave punctuality a B because they did not arrive within the window promised. While I do understand that some jobs turn into more than expected and also that other emergencies arise, I could have given them an A had they proactively called me to let me know they were running behind. As it was, I called after my service window passed to get the update.

Thank you for taking the time for a writing a review for our service. Most companies do not hook up the gauges to a unit as doing so almost always allows some refrigerant to escape. Even a little loss of refrigerant can have profound effect on the performance of the unit. At $90 per pound, we feel that this is an unnecessary risk. If we are not getting the proper temperature difference between the supply and return air or if we see any signs of a leak we will then hook up the gauges. As we told you on the phone, we do not promise a time or a window as we never know what to expect from one call to the next. We will say where you are in the technicians list and it may be around "x" time but please don't hold us to it as a problem at one call throws off the entire day. We always call our customers when we are on the way: this allows them to run errands and not be chained to the house. We can give as much notice as the customer asks us for. If a technician has taken an unusually long time at one call we try to call the customers to advise them. Sometimes we may fall short of this goal as we apparently did in your case. I am sorry for any inconvenience. We are always looking for ways to improve and constructive criticism is always appreciated: thank you. I will say that I feel and most of our customers feel that we do a far superior job with how we handle the scheduling and communicating with our customers regarding the service calls than our competitors. I know what I go through when I have to personally deal with other contractors and I try to learn from the aggravation that they put me through. Again, we are always trying to improve and thank you for your comments.

It is always a pleasure to see an "A" rating - especially first thing in the morning. Please keep in mind that your system is now 10 years old. In order to help increase the life expectancy and operational efficiency of the system it is very important to have a routine maintenance performed on the equipment. Your water heater is also 10 years old and I would recommend that you plan on replacing it in the near future: especially if the water heater is located in a finished room or an attic. It is better to replace an aging water heater while it is still working BEFORE the tank leaks and causes damage. We install both tankless water heaters and the conventional systems with a tank. Hello and thank you for the positive feedback. I am actually surprised that your heat pump is working. Whoever installed the outdoor unit should not have connected it to the blower section. The blower section was not designed for use with the high efficient outdoor section and should have been replaced at the same time. In fact, I have seen many fly by night companies do work like this. Typically, the old air handler will kill the compressor in the new outdoor unit within the first year. Your outdoor unit appears to have been installed in 2011 and I am amazed that it is still working. It is working but certainly not properly. I urge you to replace the blower section very soon.

Thanks for the review. I wish we had better news for you, but your a/c is old and doing the best it can. Hopefully what we did helped get you past the heat of the summer. I am not sure how long the repair will last. I would recommend that you prepare to replace the system soon. It is struggling right now which means that it is costing you more to operate than it should. If your system were operating properly, a new system will save you about 30% on your electric bill for that zone. You would see even more savings because your system isn't operating properly. To save money on replacing the system, do it the fall or spring when a/c companies aren't as busy and will reduce prices to keep the workers busy. You can also save money in the winter - if the winter is mild.

Certainly you know that you system is old. You have 3 systems and this is the only one that has not been changed. One was replaced last year and the other in 2005. According to the serial number on the unit in question, your system was manufactured in either 1973 or 1994 and he informed you of this. Even if it was manufactured in 1994, it is 20 years old and past it's normal life expectancy of 18 years. He didn't try to sell you a system: there was no price offered. He suggested that you replace the system for (and I quote) "better reliability and efficiency." We would not be doing our job if he didn't let you know this. He didn't say that the system had to be replaced because it wasn't going to make it through the summer. Most people would rather know that their system needs to be replaced rather than wait for a 95 degree day in the middle of a muggy summer. Wouldn't you rather change the system at your convenience rather than out of necessity? You are correct when you said that a piece of conduit broke off and hit your fan motor. Don't you think that it is possible that it broke off because it was old and starting to fall apart. While servicing the unit the tech may have jarred the old (brittle) conduit and weakened it. You did not state that we came back out immediately and fixed it at no charge. Wemay not be perfect but we do stand behind our work. We always put stickers on units that we service: I am unaware of any HVAC company that doesn't. The stickers in question are smaller than a standard postcard. If a customer asks us not to do so, which is rare, we do not put them on. If they ask us to remove them we do.
