This inspection exceeded my expectations. The technician was prompt (which is not alwats easy when traveling from Norfolk to Hampton) and courteous. He inspected my furnace was not explicitly in the deal) and sealed some leaks there. He completely cleaned my AC unit and checked all the operation out. great job.

I'm very pleased to know that you were happy with our technician and his work. We really do try to go the extra mile with all of our work. I know that it is never possible to please all of the people all of the time but we certainly try! I also want to thank you for the comment about our being punctual but also understanding that traveling through the tunnels is not always easy. Not to worry though, we plan to be opening another location in the every near future which will make it even easier to serve the Peninsula and the western portions of the Tidewater area. Please tell your family, friends and neighbors about us. :)

The company was quick in response to my initial call. My a/c was not keeping up at maintaining the temperature. Last year had a similar problem and had another company come out to do a tune up and cleaned the unit and fans, etc and the unit performed well for the duration of summer. Decided to try a new company this year based off the positive reviews and ability to purchase the deal. They didn't have time for the tune up for 2 weeks as customers who had no a/c were a priority I was told. So, when asking how to get them out sooner they would use my purchase of the deal as payment for a service call to check my unit, and this got them out within a couple days. The initial tech arrived promptly as scheduled and was polite. However what he mostly did was look at the interior and exterior unit, tell me they were old, that my refrigerant was low meaning a leak somewhere, and spend time taking measurements for a new unit (nit requested). He added the refrigerant plus extra pounds it was low on they I paid additional for (completely understandable). When done he mostly spent his time telling me I needed a new unit. It's 10 years old, the life span is 13-15 years average. So while yes it is older, it should still have a couple years left. Overall I felt the tech didn't do much other than look at the unit check the level and fill and then try to convince me I needed a new unit. He didn't inspect any other parts or take the fans out or check anything else. Mostly measurements. I called back to ask what the "service call" really got me and the owner called back promptly after hours and sent another tech out the next day (awesome!). He moved the damper around to allow more flow upstairs, our main living space, than downstairs. He explained a little more how/why the unit was under performing, and agreed that it should be okay for a couple more years but the stress over the last couple years from different things could be the culprit for the shorter life span. I would be hesitant to use them in the future because of the initial experience which I felt was mostly trying to make a sale, but the responsiveness of the owner to my calls and questions was very reassuring that they do care about their customers. I just think that I wasnt a big spending customer at the time and others who were replacing the whole unit were a priority and easier fix.

Hello and thank you for taking the time to write a review. Please understand that when you called it was June 19 and we were in the middle of a heat wave that saw temperatures in the upper 90's for weeks. We were completely slammed with calls and our guys were working 14+ hours a day just trying to keep up. We had to take care of people with no cooling that were in desperate need of relief. The "Big Deal" special that you purchased was for a "Clean and Check", not a service call. We had to suspend doing any "Clean and Checks" until we could handle the people with no cooling. "No Cool" calls have to take priority, often for medical and other reasons. There just wasn't time to spend an hour or more cleaning a system when other people were suffering. I personally made the decision. What we could offer in it's place was anyone who purchased a "Big Deal" that needed us ASAP for a service problem to go out and take care of the service problem for that same price and include the 1 pound of refrigerant. This was still a savings of over $100 off of our regular rates! If the person opted to wait for the "Clean and Check" we would (and did) them after we made it through the excessive heat wave that hit us. Checking the fans and the other things that you spoke of are part of a "Clean and Check" and not a service call. If for any reason any person that works here makes you feel that you are not important to us because you are not spending big money is simply not acceptable. Ii sincerely apologize for that. Frankly, it may be that the technician was flat out worn down from all the hours he was putting in. We have different crews for installing equipment and other crews for servicing / repairing equipment so his focus should be on repairing your system. (I take the responsibility of orchestrating the chaos between the service crews and the installation crews.) Regardless, I will address your concerns with him. While he is in front of you, you should be his main focus!!! On a side note, the second technician did say that your system was getting weak and should be replaced. I recommend that you plan on replacing it sooner rather than later

System had a leak. Technician did not show any interest in looking for it. Was either refilling the heat-pump or replacing the complete system, heat pump and air handler. System being quite new, we had to pay for an expensive refill just to buy time and find another company which was interested in doing some leak finding.

Thank you for taking the time to let me know about your concerns but I am seeing a few discrepancies in your version of what happened. According to the ticket that you signed my technician recommended a leak search as the equipment was only about 5 years old. You opted to have it charged against his recommendation in lieu of checking for the leak. In fairness to you, perhaps he did not have time to do it that day but we can usually schedule a leak check for the next day. We schedule a certain amount of "Clean and Checks" such as you purchased a day. Leak checks can take a few minutes or a few hours. Once we find a leak the repair takes typically about 4 hours - if it can be done at all as sometimes the leaks are not accessible. Often, we have discovered that many people are using the "Clean and Checks" which are performed on operating systems as a "Service Call" on units that are not working. A service call, especially one with a refrigerant leak, can take much longer. We have learned to ask the customer if the system is functioning properly at the time. If we are told it is not, we allow more time for the technician to stay at the site. In the case of refrigerant leaks we have to reschedule and allow the techs to spend multiple hours at the site. (NOTE: Sometime we are able to do it that day depending on the number of calls that the particular technician has for the day. If it is late in the day, the customer usually wants to schedule for a different time because we have to start charging overtime at 5 PM.) Again, that is usually accomplished the next day. In fact, our guys keep window units on their vehicles that we loan to our customers - free of charge - when we can't finish a repair on the first trip out there. I find it hard to believe that any of my guys would have "no interest" in checking for a leak as they get paid the same amount regardless of what the work they are doing. All of us know that the #1 thing that we need to do is get the customer some cooling. Leak checks are relatively non-physical compared to some of the other things that is involved with their job. If any of our crew seems to show "no interest" in doing their job, I want to know about it right away rather than 2 months after the fact. Again, the ticket that you signed clearly says that he recommend a leak check. Why you didn't have us do it is what I don't understand.

I won't buy another promotion through Angie's list again.
Description of Work: Told me I needed new air conditioner mine was too old to repair. I replaced my ac/furnace with another company because another company gave better price for same unit. The $59.00 I paid for servicing unit and pound of freon was lost. I feel sure Stokeys would have done a good job I just wish I hadn't paid Craig's list for promotion. It was a waste of money.

I am sorry that you decided to use another company for the work. Please remember that a cheaper price for the same unit doesn't mean that you got the same job. I certainly hope that whoever installed it did a good job for you and it provides you with years of comfort. Please keep us in mind if you should need us in the future.

Thank you for taking the time to tell the other subscribers about how satisfied you were with our company. I know there are a lot of other HVAC companies to chose from when you need help but I really feel that we are the best. Most companies that offer specials usually just send someone out to "kick the tires" so to speak, but we're not like that. We promise to do a thorough job regardless what the price is. If you are ever unhappy please let us know. Constructive criticism is always welcome.

On July 29, 2015 Stokleys came to my residence and performed the special they had on Angie?s list to perform maintenance and inspection on 4 off my AC units. When they arrived, they checked my units. Two were working fine. Two were not. Angelo looked at the two broken units. He advised that one needed a new dual cap as well as 5 lbs of refrigerant. He told me it had a leak but that he would not be able to find it. He advised that the best avenue would be to place the refrigerant in the system because eventually I would need to replace the system because the refrigerant was becoming obsolete. This cost $200 for the cap and $90 lb for refrigerant. He then checked my other until and advised that it also had a leak and my best option would be to just put the 4lbs refrigerant in (this came with the service of $59 per unit). Unfortunately, my spouse was overseas so I had to do a lot of back and forth relaying the information and trying to confirm what needed to be done. Because it was hard to contact my spouse, I took the service technician?s word as what needed to be done and he added the refrigerant to both systems. Total we paid for the service call and the refrigerant and cap was $886.00. My spouse finally is able to call through and spoke to Angelo and wanted to know why he would suggest putting the refrigerant in a system that is leaking. Why wouldn?t he try to find the leak. Angelo said it would be too difficult to find the leak and the systems would need to be replaced eventually anyway. My spouse was very upset with this and demanded to speak with a manager. After some back and forth, the manager agreed to come out and give us an estimate for new systems and that he would apply the cost of the refrigerant to the cost of a new system. Fast forward, our 2 systems are not working. They stopped working 2 weeks after Alonzo came and are we back to where we started. My spouse called to make an appointment to have the systems looked at. He advised the manager that the system is no longer working to which the manager kept interrupting and not letting him finish his sentence. He talked over my spouse and kept saying ?well your wife signed the waiver that we are not responsible?. My spouse asked him why would your company suggest something they know is going to cost the customer more money and be half done and not going to work. They knew it was an issue when they offered the credit for the refrigerant. The manager continued to be belligerent with my spouse who then advised him we no longer want the estimate. We would NOT recommend this company. They are out for the fast dollar and not the best interest of the customer. Very disappointing as Alonzo (the service technician) was very nice and I thought he was giving me legit advice. The fact that I signed a waiver at this point was moot as they already had agreed to apply the cost of the refrigerant to the cost of a new system so there was absolutely no need for the manager to be rude to my spouse and highly unprofessional. By the way, the manager also stated I did not authorize them to look for the leak. Are you kidding me? No one asked me for authorization to look for the leak, nor would I know that I need to authorize that. Lorenzo at no point told me he could look for it, simply said it would be too hard too find and told me I?d need to replace the system eventually anyway. We chose this company off of Angie?s list because we wanted someone who would do the job the right. Stokely?s should not have recommended putting more money into these two units if they can?t fix them. They should have recommended we get new systems and had us move forward, instead of spend $450 for refrigerant plus a cap for $200, on systems that $650 later are not working. Update: Please note I have read Stokleys response and it is laughable. Dramatic and full of inaccuracies. His technician was trembling? Um, ok. Furthermore, at no point, NO POINT, did his technician tell me I should NOT put the refrigerant in. THAT IS A LIE. He had me sign the paperwork AFTER the work was done. AFTER! AND he did not give me a copy, which the owner was so gracious to send to me in the mail as a sticking point for his argument and frankly is not relevant at this point. They had already agreed to be "generous" and apply the cost of the refrigerant to a new system if we did the work with them SO WHY be rude at that point? WHY not commit and see it through? WHY not stand behind your word, instead of being aggressive and abrasive on the phone? Furthermore, the conversation the owner had with my spouse was for about a minute or so and he did not let my husband get a word in edge wise so again the account is inaccurate. And yes, it was hot over the summer. It had been hot the whole summer. 2 of the units had not worked the whole summer BUT we weren't miserable. We weren't desperate. I was not a damsel in distress. This response is belligerent and a testament to how they treat their customers. In fact, I suggest all customers read the reviews from B-F because that is where I failed. I only read the A's but in retrospect it's what the Business owner says to the people that aren't" A" happy that we see a true reflection of this company. One final note, the owner points out that my spouse should be upset with me and not his company (love the redirection by the way). Thankfully, my husband understands that I was going off of the advice I received from the Stokely's technician during the service call. If the technician had told me "no don't put the refrigerant, lets look into a new system", guess what I would have done? Yep, taken his advice.

The visit went very well. The company, Stokley's Services, called me the day before to remind of the scheduled visit. They also called me on the day of the visit to let me know that the technician, Jim, was on his way. I really liked that. Jim looked at my unit and did a pressure check on it. He found that there was no coolant in the unit. He also told me that the unit was not in good shape and needed to be replaced. I could not afford to replace the unit at this time and asked if there was a way to get the unit working to get me through the next two months. He said he would add the coolant but could not put a warranty on the work as he confirmed there was a leak. I agreed to this with the full understanding that I would have to get it replaced. He added coolant to the unit and waited to see if the house would cool and it did. He mentioned that the condenser coils were in bad shape and said the 'head press' was high. I asked him to explain that to me and he took the time to explain how the unit worked. I really appreciated that. Jim gave me an estimate for the unit replacement. I would use Stokley's Services again. They were professional, they explained what they needed to do and were on time.

Thank you for taking the time and writing such a nice review. I wish that our tech had better news for you but your unit is old and will need to be replaced very soon. Please keep in mind that we were able to get your a/c working temporarily but it is not fixed. While we cannot say how long the a/c will work, we can tell you that it is only a matter of time before it fails again. With any luck it will make it through the last bit of hot weather for the year. Please start preparing to replace the system very soon.

I'm glad to hear that you were pleased with our service. Please keep in mind that the 2 single most important thing that a homeowner can do to keep their a/c system operating at its peak ability is to change / clean your filters every 30 days and to make sure that you keep grass and other vegetation from getting too close to your air conditioner. I should also point out that when your are clearing away vegetation to please be careful if you use a weed-wacker or similar product to clear it. We get quite a few calls every year where the homeowner accidentally cuts the thermostat wire which will make the system non-functional. Please tell your friends and family about us!

The AC failed in the late afternoon. I called after 5:00 PM on Aug 10th Monday night. They got their head service technician " Jerry " to come out and diagnose the problem. The very next day they were able to locate the replacement motor and that afternoon did a warranty exchange for me, did all the paper work and trip to the Carrier Store in Green Brier to exchange the motor. Jerry got it installed and running by dinner time the evening of Aug 11th. Jerry was very personable, very knowledgeable - really knows his stuff and took the time to explain everything to me and taught me a few things in the process. Jerry was also fun to talk to and tells good jokes. Well worth the money. Next time I have a problem with HVAC I'll be calling Stokelys and will ask for Jerry to service my unit.

It's always nice to hear compliments about our guys and our work. Jerry has been a very welcome addition to the company from the very first day. He's always in a good mood and smiling which becomes infectious. I have never seen him upset and he has never complained, or if he did I never knew about it. :)One of the hardest things about working in the HVAC industry is finding good people. When you find them you have to treat them good and with respect because you want to keep them. After hour calls can be difficult at times too as we may not have the part needed to make the repair. Unfortunately it is impossible to stock every part for every unit. Some parts, like yours, are very expensive and impractical to keep on the trucks or the shop. Fortunately, your part was covered under warranty. We have to rely on the supply house to have them available for us. Thank you for understanding that we needed to return the next day. Thank you for the very nice review too!

Thank you so much for the kind words. I can truly say that it was a pleasure talking with you personally on the phone. My technician also said the you were very nice to him as well. I have to admit that the past few days have been tough as I have had to respond some negative reviews and I am very unfamiliar with that. While I understand that we may not be able to please everyone, I know we go out of our way to try. It is extremely frustrating when I know that those customers who wrote the reviews aren't telling the truth and are just trying to "sling some mud" in an effort to extort some money from us in the from of a refund. I know the type of company that we are: we have worked extremely hard to be better than the rest. Our reputation means the world to me. This is my family's business, I am 3rd generation and have been here (full time) since I graduated from ODU in 1987. A negative comment about the company reflects not just on our company but on myself, my parents, and my grandparents: this is unacceptable to me. Your glowing report has restored my faith in the system: thank you.

Unfortunately my wife was home for the first 2 visits and I was only able to talk to the tech via the phone. Our older AC unit would only work about 1/2 the time and we were not sure what was causing the issue. The tech was unable to diagnose the issue on the first 2 visits and Stokleys suggested we bring out and electrician to make sure that wasn't causing the problem. After spending another couple hundred dollars on the electircian we eliminated that as a possible issue. The tech came out a third time when I was home and was able to identify the part that was causing the issue. My problem with this process was the poor communication from the tech, the lack of problem solving ability and poor attitude on the third visit. After he replaced the part the AC didn't come on right away and the tech explained that the system needed to do that to equalize the pressure. Before he replaced the part the AC would come on right away when it worked which should have helped him find the root cause but it didn't. This is one of those cases where you regret getting a deal on Angie's list that turns out costing over $700 vs. the $59 special.

You forgot to mention that the unit was not working on the initial visit but it was when left. You did not mention that you had any problems on the first visit: you did not mention (at all) that the unit was only working half the time. You did notmention that your system is very old, and was literally falling apart when we arrived. You did not mention that we advised you against spending any money on the system. You also do not mention that the system was very low on refrigerant on the first visit. The tech had to add 3.5 pounds of refrigerant out of the approximate 5 pounds that the system requires. You received the 1 free pound of refrigerant according to the deal but you did have to pay for the 2.5 additional pounds that was needed to get your system to operate. We told you NOT to spent the money. Again, we advised you on the initial visit that the system was VERY old, in VERY bad shape and not worth putting any money into repair. In fact, you signed a waiver that stated we told you that we did not recommend a repair, we could not and would not guarantee that the repair will last any length of time, and that the system should be replaced. By signing the waiver you authorized us to do the repair work against our advice. The system was working when we left. On the second visit, the system was working properly when we arrived. Are you saying that you would like for us to charge you for a part and say that the unit is fixed when we didn't find any problem? As I told you numerous times on the phone and via email, we cannot fix a problem if we cannot find a problem. You also did not mention that you have an energy management system that was cutting off power to half of your house and that is why we suggested that you have an electrician come out to make sure that wasn't causing the INTERMITTENT problem. On the 3rd and final visit we did find a problem and made the repair; again, we advised you not to spend the money. YOU IGNORED OUR ADVICE AND CONTINUED TO SPEND MONEY ON A SYSTEM THAT IS IN DESPERATE NEED OF BEING REPLACED. You can attempt to find fault with us all you want, but you are the one who would not listen to us. The fact that you wastefully spend the $540 merely highlights that you refused to listen to our advice. The money that you spend should have been used towards the purchase of a new system, (again) we advised you not to make any repairs, you went ahead and made the repairs anyway and now you want to blame us for your decision. The blame is squarely on your shoulders sir, not ours.

Not many details to give. Technician was able to quickly verify the AC system was working properly, not overdrawing power, confirming the problem I had was the breaker.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of our company. I am happy to hear that you would use us again. I am also happy that we were able to confirm your suspicions regarding your breaker. The other good news is that your system is currently working fine but please keep in mind that your system is 16 years old. I would recommend that you begin planning on replacement in the not too distant future as the average life expectancy for your system is 18 years. Also, a new a/c unit would also save you about 25-30% on your cooling bill from the power company.

They came out the same day that I called. Even though they were busy, they squeezed me into the schedule. This was great for us, since my A/C wasn't cooling very well. Their service fixed the problem and the A/C is working much better. They were professional and very knowledgeable. I would use them again for certain.

I'm very happy that we were able to get you taken care of yesterday. I know you said that today would be okay but when we told you that we would get to your home yesterday, we meant it! I have to admit that I was nervous when I called to tell you that the tech was heading your way and you didn't answer at first. I'm glad that you say that you will use us again: please share our name with your friends and family. Lastly, thank you for the great review.

The technician responded quickly and stayed late on a Friday evening, which they deserve credit for. That's where things began to deteriorate. His diagnosis of the system as written on the report he gave us was a leak at a valve on the compressor. He verbally indicated to me and my family members that there was "at least one and likely two leaks" in our system. This would comprise of the compressor, coil and copper line set. He gave us a written quote recommending replacement of the entire AC system, including the coil and line set. The company owner also emailed us a final quotation the following Monday for the replacement of the system. I had Six different companies including Stokley's inspect the system and only two arrived at the same, correct diagnosis. I know it was correct because the minimal actions and solution they prescribed returned the system to excellent working condition. The diagnosis' by the two other vendors confirmed there was no leak in any section of the system at all only a failed compressor. Two vendors pressure tested the entire system and no leaks were discovered. Upon replacement of my AC system (only the outside unit, coil and line set replacement were not needed) the system operated perfectly with no leaks or issues. Where this interaction went from bad to worse was when I emailed the company owner as a courtesy (as I did with the other vendors, without incident) to let them know I had selected another vendor. Instead of a simple "Thanks for considering us and keeping us in mind..." he wrote a long winded reply about how we had gotten bad advice and that our system would not work for very long, in so many words. I was shocked he would do such a thing and when I replied back refuting his response, he sent me back another, even longer reply. This has continued for a couple more cycles. I eventually have blocked his email address so I don't receive any further messages from him. I requested a refund of the diagnostic fee but was told by the owner I wasn't due one as Stokley's diagnosis was correct. I know this company has a lot of excellent reviews, and they may have earned them. But for me, they arrived at incorrect conclusions about what was wrong with my system and (like many other vendors) were fixated on providing the solutions they wanted to provide me, not the ones that best fit my individual situation.

I have to admit that I never had to deal with anyone like this member in my life. He wants me to believe that he had a total of 6 companies come out to service and diagnose the problem with his 22 year old air conditioner and even paid 2 of the companies to leak check a system. (Allegedly, five of the companies came after we did.) Most companies charge $500 to perform such a service, frankly the unit wasn't worth putting any money into it considering the age and condition, but again, he wants me to believe that he paid 6 companies to service it. My service tech found a leak at the service valve and even showed him the leak. He claims now that 2 companies found that the compressor was bad and "minimal actions" returned it to "excellent working condition." First, a bad compressor cannot be fixed with minimal repair, it is a major repair that costs in excess of $2,000. Second, a leak check cannot be performed on a system with a bad compressor. He then opted to replace the system that is now operating "excellently" after 1 of the 6 companies made a minor repair. Why would he replace a unit that is operating "excellently?" He didn't write to let me know that he chose another company, I emailed him. He chose to replace his 22 year old system that has a 10 SEER evaporator coil on it with a unit that is a 13 SEER unit and is using the old and soon to be obsolete refrigerant (R-22). Based on the previous extremely pleasant conversations that I had with him, I advised him, (as a courtesy) to be on the lookout for future problems because his 13 SEER unit (which is already obsolete as the new minimal efficiency rating is 14 SEER effective 1/1/15) is not designed to work with a 10 SEER evaporator coil. NO MANUFACTURER OF HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING EQUIPMENT WILL RECOMMEND THAT YOU INSTALL A 13 SEER UNIT ON A 10 SEER EVAPORATOR COIL. They will say that it MAY work but it WILL NOT work properly. I told him that an installation such as his will ultimately kill the new air conditioner: it may take a week, a month, a year, or several years but it will happen. I also tried to explain why what he chose to do is not recommended. He for some reason thought that I was trying to argue with him and said that the "mere existence" of my reply upset him. I had nothing to gain or to lose by sending him the comment as the work was already done; again, I just wanted to advise him. He would then comment that he wasn't even reading my emails so I am not sure how he knew what I said or how he could possibly take offense to my comments. He demanded a refund without providing me any so-called evidence of the findings of any of the other companies that he allegedly paid to come out. He kept focusing on how he didn't want to waste the money that he spent on his evaporator coil (over 8 years ago). His was so concerned that he spend as little money as possible; yet, he wants me (and you) to believe that he paid 6 companies to service his unit. I highly doubt it. He wanted cheap, he got cheap, and he will have problems coming up soon because of his choice. I can only hope that when it does happen that he retracts his review but I doubt he will. In closing, I stand behind the findings of my tech and his recommendations. Simply put, we will not do a job such as another company supposedly did because it is not recommended and will reflect negatively on the company. I would rather respond to 1,000 negative reviews than do 1 installation in such a manner: work like that gives all HVAC contractors a bad name. If I have ANY reason to think that my tech did anything wrong I would happily refund his money. The member refuses to provide me with anything and expects me to take his word for it. Based on everything that the member claims there is just no way I can take his word for it.

I required service twice and both techs jerry and Angelo were excellent. They explained to me what they were doing and listened to what I had to say. Jerry actually pointed out an error that was made in a roofing repair that I was not aware of. As I am putting my house up for sale , any issue to my house is very important to me. We all have experienced dealing with technical folks who speak in their jargon and even speak down to you. It was. Refreshing to deal with professional technicians who are highly skilled and yet take the time to explain the issues and their recommendations . I will definitely use them I the future.

I'm am extremely happy that you were pleased with our services and our techs. I am sorry that we had to go back to your house. It was very unfortunate that you accidently cut the wire to your air conditioner while trying to clear away some vegetation that was growing around it. I try to send the same technician out to every house but the way the schedule was already set I decided to send a different tech out to repair the wire quicker than if waited to send the same tech. I hope you didn't mind. I hope the sale of your house goes smoothly and promptly: I know how stressful it can be. :)

After being completely frustrated with another air condition company last week, who spent maybe 10 minutes inspecting the air condition and then running off in a hurry, it was such a joy to see someone like, Jerry, who really took his time checking everything out. It was also nice that Stokley's Services Inc. cared enough to come out to the house right away, knowing I had problems breathing, being that I have asthma. Tim had answered the phone and he had told me that they had two other customers in front of me. I had called late in the afternoon, but I was hoping they could still could come out right away instead of waiting till the following day. Tim was so professional making sure to call me, giving me updates how long it would be until they would be coming to the house. He pretty much squeeze me in, being that they had a busy schedule, something unheard of now a days! That personal caring and professionalism, makes me a life long customer of Stokley's Service Inc. I highly recommend Stokley's Inc. I would give Stokley's Service Inc. a A+ Thank you, Angie's List, for making me a believer in your service.
Description of Work: Jerry was very knowledgeable. He explained everything as he went along. Was able to find out that the problem was in the wiring with a loose connection, which he corrected. He was professional enough to spend the time and make certain that the unit was working correctly.

First and foremost, let me thank you for the wonderful review. Now that we know you have asthma, we have placed you on a "MEDICAL PRIORITY" list that will push you to the next available service tech in order to give you the fastest response time possible. I've said it many times in my responses to the reviews, but we really do have some great people here at Stokley's Services and we are certainly proud of all of them. I want to make sure that our customers are treated the way that I would want to be treated or how I would want my elderly parents to be treated. I've experienced the service practices of some (satellite, gas, phone, etc..) service companies and try to learn from their mistakes and certainly from positive experiences as well. Thank you again. :)

The maintenance check went well. The technician recommended a couple of things, but in no way pressured me into anything. The technician and I discussed future maintenance contracts on other items like my tank-less water heater, and furnace. Of noteworthy, the technician arrived on time and explained to me in great detail what maintenance he performed and provided me with some recommendations to maintain my units in peak operating condition. I will use Stokley's services in the future.

We have lived in our large two story home for over 23 years, and this is the third time we have had to replace the air handler. The last time was seven years ago, and was done by a local company that used to have an Angie's rating of A, but has been hovering between a C and a B recently. The other company came out to perform yearly maintenance check and found the condenser coil was frozen, due to a small leak. Please note this unit was seven years old, and if this first company had filled out the warranty card unit would have had a ten year parts warranty, instead of five. We could have just replaced the condenser coil, but would only have received a one year warranty. I sent an email directly to the General Manager of said company, but he never gave us a quote to replace the air handler (and a ten year parts warranty). Sent an email to Stokley's, and Rob replied very quickly. He came out the next evening (our request) and looked at the problem, explained our options and gave us a quote. We made a very conscious decision to leave our old company, and have Stokley's do the work. On the morning the work was done, I received a call to let me know they were on time and on the way. An extremely professional team of three men arrived, introduced themselves and again explained what they would be doing. They showed me the new Air Handler, and told me how they would be installing it in our very hot attic. They felt there was not enough decking to work on the unit, and they went and picked up plywood, cut to fit the area at no extra charge. The removed the old unit and made sure I saw it, and spent about eight and a half hours on the job. They improved the existing layout of the unit, and the exterior drain, and even took my cell phone to take a picture of the work they had done. They cleaned up and removed all materials, and thanked us for the business. We were able to use a $200 coupon that Rob gave us, to help lower our bill. Excellent company, professional and well trained technicians.

One of the highlights of my day is reading the reviews from our happy customers. I am actually excited when I see that I have a new review. This morning, when I saw that I had another new review, I had a feeling that it was from you. I don't think that I've ever had a customer call me in the middle of a job to comment on how much he liked the crew and the work that they were doing. So thank you for the wonderful call yesterday and the review this morning. I had two consecutive days of compliments from the same customer!! Not bad, not bad at all. :)

Thank you for taking the time to review our company and share it with other Angie's List customers. I am glad that you were happy with our tech's work and that you would use us again. That is always nice to hear! :) You have a quality system that is indeed in good shape and should provide you with comfort for some years to go. Please keep in mind that the system is 10 years old and most units like yours have a life expectancy of around 18 years. Keeping it properly maintained is crucial to prolonging it's life.

The guy that came out was here a while and he did a lot for the price. He cleaned the pipes and I can't remember anything else that he did, but he did a lot of work. He was here about three hours. He's real pleasant. He did his job, it was in the attic. He just wanted to get his job done and he was pleasant all the time and he was concerned about going through the house, he took off his shoes and all that.

Thank you for the review. I'm sorry that it took a little while to respond to it, but it just popped up today (8/5/15) even though the review was dated 7/23/15. I am happy that you were pleased with the work that our tech did but please keep in mind that your a/c system needs to be replaced. While the system is operating currently it definitely has some issues. IF it makes it through the summer, I would highly recommend that you replace the system before next summer. If you have any questions please call me.
