Outstanding. Scheduling was smooth. I was traveling alot at the time and the worked to quickly schedule within my time frame. Jerry arrived promptly and was very thorough - spent about 1.5-2 hours. Besides the services, he provide me a status on my aging system and options for the future. I am very pleased with the service.

The Service I received during my heat pump tune-up was exceptional - Jerry took extra time and care to ensure all components of the system were clean and working properly. I have never seen a technician take so much time to examine all aspects of the system and throughly clean all the components (drip pans, coils, filter, etc.). I couldn't be more happy with the Service I received! I will definitely be calling Stokley's for any future heating and A/C service I need. Give them a call - you won't be disappointed.

While I certainly thank you for the excellent review, I would like to put all my cards on the table. Jerry was the 2nd technician that we sent. The first tech we sent was new to the company. I received a complaint from the subscriber. In complete honesty, I received several calls about the new tech. He had all the credentials. He was even with his former employer for 25 years. We showed him numerous times what we expected. He rode with Jerry for a couple of weeks before he was sent out on his own. I received a complaint so I had him ride with Jerry again. After 3 more complaints I decided that it would be best if we just parted ways. He is no longer employed here. Perhaps the work he did was acceptable enough at his previous job but it wasn't good enough by our standards. To be clear, if I receive a complaint from a customer I take it very seriously. If I feel that the customer has a legitimate complaint I will make it right. Please understand that I also have to have some trust in my employees. I listen to both sides and investigate further if need be. I I don't give a new employee that sort of benefit f doubt. We are a little different here at Stokley's Services. We always talk about the team. To be part of the team here you have to earn the right. I know I can count on my guys and they know they can count on me. We all want to do the best job possible. Sometimes we have to go through a few new employees before we find the ones that fit here.

Excellent. Stokley's Services, Inc. were polite and friendly at every point. It was easy to schedule via Angie's List. Their office called the day before to remind me, and the morning of the service, a manager called to say the technician was on his way - and he was on time! The technician was experienced, knowledgeable and thorough, and when I asked questions, he provided helpful answers. They didn't try to oversell any product. I am definitely calling Stokley's for my future furnace and a/c maintenance.
Description of Work: Thorough A/C and Heat system check and tune-up (had a coupon for this) and rewired A/C where another service provider did a sloppy job.

Thank you for the great review. The technician that was at your house is new to our company. He's only been here for a month. His uniforms haven't even come in yet. He has over 30 years of experience in the industry. I'm always apprehensive with a new hire because I want things done a certain way. I want our tune ups to be completely thorough unlike what many other companies do. I don't want them trying to push unneeded parts, equipment, repairs, or services on our customers. His first month I had him riding with one of our other techs. This is is first week riding by himself and you are the first person to send in a review on him. I am glad to hear that you were pleased with the work that our tech did at your home. Unlike other companies, we send out actual technicians to perform maintenances / clean and checks of your equipment. To the best of my knowledge, we are the only company that still does that. The other guys send out journeyman or helpers that aren't fully trained. If we find something we can address the issue then and there. You won't have to schedule another appointment for a actual service tech to go out. Seriously, who has time for that? To me it just makes sense to sent out qualified people to begin with. I guess you can call me old fashioned but that's how I was brought up in the industry.

Angelo cleaned the entire unit, which is original to the house (32 years old). We discussed the age and efficiency of my current model. The unit was absolutely filthy and now it looks almost like new. Thanks to Angelo, I am able to get a little more use from my current system and when I do ultimately have to replace it, I will be calling Stokley's Services to do the job.
Description of Work: I purchased the $59.00 big deal and Angelo went above and beyond. I received an email from the company within 24 hours of purchase and they were able to squeeze me in one day after we spoke. Angelo arrived at my house on time. He was very pleasant and professional and he educated me on my very old heating and air conditioning system.

Please keep in mind that your system is extremely old and well past it's life expectancy. The coils are starting to deteriorate and the compressor is "pulling hi amps." This means that the compressor is using more electricity than it is supposed to and will probably fail soon. A compressor change is very costly and not advisable: especially considering how old the system is. I would recommend that you prepare to replace it soon. Or tech does not think it will make it through the summer despite his efforts. He told me about your cat and I hope she is recovering nicely. :)

The contractor arrived on time. I received a call from the office before his arrival to let me know that he was already on his way.He was professional and courteous. I don't have any complaints as he answered all my questions and even took the time to demonstrate how to set the dial on the heating unit according to how I wanted the air to flow.

I'm sorry that you felt pressured: that is not the type of company we are. We have never been a "pressure" company when it comes to our customers. I know that I don't like it when people do it to me so I refuse to do it to our customers. We try to inform you of your choices and let you know the pros and cons of each choice, Your system is old and due to be replaced soon. The cost of the repair was almost half the cost of a new unit that would come with a warranty. We will do whatever you want; again, we are just trying to give you as much information as possible to make your decision.

I HIGHLY recommend that you have a carbon monoxide detector installed. With the age of that gas furnace you never know when the heat exchanger will crack and pour CO into the house. It could literally safe a life and for a very small investment (usually under $50) it is a smart investment.

Thank you for the nice review. Your system is about 13 years old and in pretty good shape so you have a while to go before it reaches it's life expectancy of 18 years. Keeping it tuned up will definitely add some life to it: keep up with the maintenances and change your filters monthly. Many of the major problems that we find could have been avoided by simply keeping your filters clean. Most people don't change them every month; in fact, I think some filters only get changed when we do the maintenance on the system. The cleaner your filters are the better off you will be in the long rung! :)

Mr. Stokley, who founded the company in 1938, was my Mom's father. When he passed my parents took over. I am now in my 28th year down hear (it's hard to believe that it's been so long). Through the years I've come to realize that probably the nicest compliment that we are able to receive is repeat business. Thank you so much for using our services - again! We try extremely hard to take care of our customers the way that we would want to be treated. Often times this means that we won't make the money that other companies might. We may decide not to charge for a call that we should charge for, go out on after hour service calls after hours at no charge or even work overtime to finish an installation at no additional charge. I've come to realize years ago that I won't get rich doing business this way, but I can go to sleep with a clean conscience and that means more to me than the money. (There is a $90 rebate available on tune-ups per heat pump system. Some restrictions apply.) The Big Deal tune-ups are even better when you can actually have your heat pump system tuned up and get more money back than what you spent!!! FYI: you forgot to send the copy of the service order in with your Rebate Application. Don't worry, they called me and I sent them a copy. It may take a little longer than normal but you should be receiving it soon; hopefully, you'll get just in time for the holidays. MERRY CHRISTMAS! :)

The provider was very flexible with a very busy schedule. The provider had also provided a courtesy notification when the technician would be at the residence. The assessment was very objective and very thorough. The technician was very friendly and professional. I would highly recommend Stokley's business to anyone who wants a reputable and trustworthy organization to work on their home.

I'm sorry for not replying sooner, but I somehow didn't see you nice review: thank you. I see that you've actually used us a couple of times: thank you again. Your equipment is relatively new but please keep having it properly cleaned and maintained as it will help it operate more efficiently (saving you money) and lasting longer. I am a bit concerned that your a/c system was a little low on refrigerant but that may have been the fault of the installing contractor. If you are low on refrigerant again I would definitely want to have a leak check performed on it. Keep an eye out this summer: if it struggles to keep up or if you see ice form on the unit you should turn off the unit and contact us immediately. The system is 3 years old and you have at least a 5 year warranty on the coils (parts only). If the installing contractor did his paperwork properly you will have a 10 year warranty on the coil. You definitely would want to have the work done in warranty - if that is indeed the problem.

Since this is my family business I tend to take the reviews personally. My Mom's father founded the company in 1938 and was passed down to my parents when he died in 1963. I started working here in 1987 after I graduated from ODU and I have been running the company for about 20 years now. Everyone here takes great pride in their job and the company: we have a great team here. After rereading the previous negative review, it really made me feel better to read your kind words. THANK YOU!! I would like to point out that the same tech that was at your house is the same one that was at the other property. I point this out because I find it incredibly hard to believe that the same tech who you and countless others have praised is doing the type of work that the other subscriber describes. I am good at maintaining our system, I religiously have it tuned-up every year. I've been using another company all these years and very satisfied with that company's service. I just saw this deal at Angie's list and thought of trying it coz it will save me some money and seems like they have good reviews. Two people came to do the tune-up and they asked me if the system was working fine and I said yes and that I usually do a tune-up every year. I was wondering why it only took them around 15 minutes to check on the system in the attic. I'm very familiar how long it takes to tune-up our system, usually takes at least 1.5 hrs when Russell's heating and air-conditioning do it. Then, they went outside in the backyard, were the air conditioning units are. Feeling suspicious already, I peek through a window on the second floor. They were there just talking, the other man is smoking cigarette non-stop. So, I kept watching them wondering were they ever going to do some work there and stop talking and smoking. Out of 1hr that I was watching them in the backyard, I saw them only around 5 mins doing something work-related. I didn't confront them about my concerns and what I saw, coz I was thinking that it will be better to just inform the company what was going on and what I witnessed. After they left, I called the company and informed them about my concerns, I didn't feel that the owner was interested about my feedback, which concerns me more. What if these employees are doing this most of the time? People will pay them to do tune-ups and they will not do what they are paid to do since the system is working and customers don't have an idea they shortchange them.He said that he wouldn't be able to talk to his employees until the next day and will just give me a call. It has been two weeks and I didn't get a call.

Mrs. (Member name removed) correctly states that 1 of the 2 men there did no work. I send 2 men: 1 is a service tech and the other is an installer. The installer was not there to assist the tech clean the equipment. He was there to assist the tech on his next call (a couple of miles away) that required an extra set of hands to lift something. He is a gifted installer but does not service or clean equipment. After receiving the subscriber’s complaint, I pulled the 2 men aside and talked to them separately. The installer said that he didn’t really do anything except watch the tech work. He said he was impressed with the amount of work that the tech did and was surprised that the tech actually pulled out the burners, cleaned them, and reinstalled them. He estimated that the tech worked on each unit between 40 and 50 minutes. The tech confirmed that the installer didn’t do anything except watch. I asked him to describe the work he performed and specifically mentioned pulling and cleaning the burners. He estimated that he spent about 45 minutes on each system. Both men said that the subscriber kept insisting that they clean the a/c units at no additional charge and both said that they told her that it was not included in the special that she purchased. They confirmed this with the office. I now talked to the 2 men at the same time and told them about the complaint. Both men denied the allegations and were upset by them. I asked them about smoking on the job-site. The installer admitted that he did smoke: I told him that he is not to smoke on any job-site and that if he has to smoke he is to do so at his van and then properly dispose of the butt. I told them that the customer wanted a refund and they both said she was in no way entitled to it and hoped that I would not give it to her. I also talked to my dispatcher who confirmed that he talked to the subscriber before the guys were sent out and he told her that cleaning of the a/c unit was not included in the special. He also confirmed that he received a call from one of my guys at the subscriber’s house and told them that the a/c was not included because she was insisting that it was. [member’s name removed] recounting of the day seems to be constantly changing and she offers no proof of her allegations. She keeps saying that the guys “didn’t even clean the a/c.” She claims that she watched them talk and smoke for over an hour but did not confront them because she was afraid, she did not record or photograph anything despite having her cell phone available. First she said one guy did nothing but smoke for an hour. After I told her why the installer was there, that he was not there to assist, and the other guy was doing all of the work, she said the other man didn’t do anything either, then she said both just talked and smoked for an hour. When I talked to her on 11-30-15 she said that the guys didn’t even turn on the equipment to test it; she did not mention this when we first talked on 11-16-15. I told her that they had to because they recorded the air temperatures on the service ticket that she signed. She suddenly changed the topic. Both of my guys recounting of the incident is the same. Both of my guys are valued and trusted employees; in fact, the service tech is my top technician who receives nothing but compliments and rave reviews from our customers. Does the subscriber expect me to take her word over a trusted and senior employee without any evidence whatsoever? No, I can’t and won’t do that. When I informed my guys that I was not going to offer a refund and felt certain that we would get a very bad review, they thanked me for standing by them and apologized for the review we all felt confident would (and did) come. The entire time I talked to the subscriber I kept thinking that she was simply trying to get something for nothing. It really occurred to me when she told her story and before I responded asked, “So how does this work? How do I get my money back?” She was upset when I said I wouldn’t authorize a refund until I investigated the matter. She was not happy with that answer. I am curious to know if she has tried the same tactic with other companies. If I felt that she was entitled to a refund I would give it to her happily. I honestly do not think she is entitled to a refund and will not give her one.

It was okay. For some reason they separate air conditioning with the heat system that services the house so it ended up being $100, so it is a bit misleading. They were scheduled on time. They came out within a week or two after I bought the deal. Their responsiveness is pretty good. They did what they said they were going to do at the time they said they would do it. I would tell friends or family to use them.
Description of Work: I wanted my heat serviced and the big deal I bought was for my air conditioning, so they did both.

I'm glad to hear that you would use ur services again but I am sorry to hear that you felt like the Big Deal was misleading. I checked to confirm that the deal that you purchased said it was for a tune-up on a "Gas furnace or Heat Pump" so charging you separately for the air conditioning was correct. Actually, there was no Big Deal being advertised at the time so we offered to do it at a discounted price (normally $125). I would greatly love to have the chance to earn an "A" report card next time. Thank you for taking the time and letting us know how everything went.

They came out. They lift the Aircon system. They did their inspection. They told me there was an issue, there was a leak in my coil. However, they were outside for almost an hour, which I thought was weird. When I went out, they proceeded to tell me how my switch for my unit was broken and they re-wired it. They re-wired the unit itself to an electrical power source. They haven't done that. They did not indicate it. First off, they should have told me there was something wrong before they re-wire it. secondly, the way they wired it, according to the guy who repaired it, if somebody have come out and work on the machine behind them they might have died, they might have gotten executed. They should have never touched it and should talk to me first. I will not use them again in the future.

I think you may have us confused with another contractor. Our records indicate that we sent 1 technician while you keep indicating that we had more than 1 person . The technician that was there has over 12 years of experience and certainly knows how to wire an a/c unit. I would agree that any person should discuss any problem with you, especially a life threatening issue, BEFORE they did the work. Frankly, we didn't do anything to the wiring one way or another. I would like to point out that IF our technician rewired anything you would have been charged more money as that work would not be included in the $49 special that you purchased and there were no additional charges. We did find that you were low on refrigerant but you did not authorize us to a leak search so there is no way for us to know where the leak was. We did note that you were 3 to 5 pounds low on refrigerant but you only wanted the 1 FREE pound added and refused the additional refrigerant needed to get your system to run properly. IF we did the work as you indicated and you had someone else come out after us and they said it was life threatening, why would you wait 3 months to comment about it on Angie's List website? Why not call the office and talk to me personally? I am always willing to discuss any problem. Are we perfect? No, we do make mistakes. We will also claim responsibility for our mistakes. I may not always agree with alleged complaints and do require proof of any allegations, but IF we are wrong we will make it right.

The service went very well. The service rep was professional and extremely knowledgeable. He educated me on the system as he serviced and showed me how to change the filters.

THANK YOU! Please keep in mind that your system is getting old and will need to be replaced in the near future. Yo will be amazed at how much money a new system will safe you in operational costs. You should save around 30% on your air conditioning bills and even more on your heating bills if we install a new heat pump to replace your old electric furnace. Please start preparing now so that you won't be caught off guard when the time comes to replace your HVAC equipment.
