Hobbs was a pleasure to deal with from the moment I spoke with Janice on the phone. Originally I called about an immediate service need and she took the time to explain what I could do to fix the problem. She also shared helpful advice when considering a new door and opener for our house. Two days later I called back and asked for service on what we had in place and a new door. The salesman worked through our budget and wants to help us chose a door that gives our house the look we were after. I was surprised to see what a difference a garage door makes, but Janice had already told me it would. The installation was completed within a few hours and it looks like it has been there since day one. Professional, courteous, and punctual- Most importantly they cared about us. Hobbs definitely has the best idea of how a customer should be treated and my wife and I couldn't be happier. Thank you Hobbs Door Service!

Service was excellent and the price was very reasonable. Technician made repairs promptly and professionally. The preventative maintenance was inexpensive and well worth it. Our door operates better than ever.

Mr. Hobbs is a very professional businessman. He is the most friendly salesman I have every come across. He isn't pushy and is very patient and thorough. He showed us all of the different options for the size garage door that we have. Unfortunately, buying a garage door isn't something that you do very often but I would definitely use them again if needed. You will not be disappointed in their service and the quality is great!

The service turned out good. They were very professional, they came exactly when they said they would and did a good job at fixing it.

I first called Hobbs Door Service back in 2008 (pre-Angie's List) to overhaul my garage door on the recommendation of a neighbor. I was very happy with their services. So when I wanted to replace my garage door, I called Hobbs Door Service to give me an estimate and leave me color samples and product catalogs so that I could choose color and type of garage door I wanted. They ordered the door I chose and came out to install it within a day or so of the door being received by them. They disposed of the old door and all the packaging materials from the new door. Installation was efficient and the original estimate was honored. I was pleased when Mr. Hobbs told me that I didn't need to replace my garage door opener, he told me that it was in great shape. Friendly, efficient and thorough, I would recommend Hobb's Door Service and will use them again myself. Several of my neighbors have remarked how nice the new door looks-Thank you Hobbs Door Service!

They get all "A's." They did a great job on a very cold windy day. I had a very positive experience with them. They came on a Saturday, which was convenient for us, and their work, service and knowledge about what they were doing were excellent. They knew what they were doing and had the right tools. They were totally professional, very mannerly and courteous. They got to work and they worked real hard, and they got the job done on a Saturday. They were on time and on target. They did a great job.

These guys are GREAT! I?ve fiddled with our garage door for years trying to get it to open smoothly and even had to repair broken parts inside the opener and ultimately replace the opener once it was beyond super glue, duct tape and bailing wire. Both my father and father-in-law have made valiant, yet unsuccessful, efforts to show my wife they?re better at fixing things than me with this darn door. I even asked a few handy men that have come by the house to take a look at it and they?ve been stumped, including the guy from Lowes that did an excellent job hanging our new exterior door. (Sorry Angie! J ) Then I saw an ad in the back of your latest mailer that said Hobbs repairs garage doors. Voila! People that know garage doors!!! I called and Janice scheduled me an appointment the next morning. I saw the repairman pull up in the driveway so I went in the garage and opened the door with the remote. As it started to lift I could see his feet at the bottom of the door and when it got about half way open he bent over and peeked in and started saying what was wrong! WHAT! I?ve had a lot a smart people look at this door and now this kid is going to tell me what?s wrong before he even get?s inside the house. Well, sure enough a few short minutes later he had that door working like a dream. I went in the house right after he left and sent a detailed text to my father-in-law telling him what happened and we both concur: you can?t beat having someone with the right knowledge on the job. I told him it was the best 90 bucks I ever spent! Hobbs was started here in Tidewater back in the 1960s and the ?kid? that came out was the founder?s grandson. It felt good dealing with a small company that knew exactly what they were doing and charged a very fair price. I would have never known about this without the list. Thanks Angie!

Overall, fabulous service. The technician called to say he was on his way, arrived within minutes of the appointment, and went to work immediately to replace the two torsion springs as agreed upon. He also recommended replacing the garage door cables which we thought was a valid and was only an additional $30 on this service call. I would definitely use Hobbs Door Service again and recommend them to anyone.

I called on Tuesday afternoon to ask about getting a quote for a new garage door, the woman on the phone was very nice and scheduled for the owner to come out and give me an estimate a couple hours later. He called 20 minutes before arriving. It was Mr Hobbs and he was very friendly and professional. He gave me a very fair price and so after I spoke with my husband that evening I called to confirm the order. Mr Hobbs had his scheduler call the following morning and schedule time for the installer to come out, which happened to be 45 minutes later. He was on time and very professional and polite. He did great work and made sure that everything was 100% correct with the door. The service was Excellent and timely and I Highly recommend using this company. AAAA+++ for Hobbs Door Service

Service was performed on the garage door to make it a bit quieter and smoother in operation. A keypad was replaced with a better one as part of the service. Several months later, all is still working perfectly!

Outstanding service. I purchased the garage door rehab service as an Angie's Big Deal offer. My garage door was on its last legs, and I suspected that something was going to fail sooner rather than later. I purchased the Big Deal on Saturday over the Labor Day Weekend. Ms Hobbs called that following Tuesday and left a voicemail. I called Ms Hobbs back on the 13th when I knew I had some free time to be at the house and she was able to schedule an appointment for the following day. Chris called when he was 15 minutes out and arrived when expected. He was very professional and polite. He explained what he was going to do. The deal was for 2 garage door rehabs or a free keypad if you only had 1 garage door. I told Chris that I didn't want the outside keypad but didn't expect any reduced price. Chris replaced the springs, rollers, aligned the door sensor, and fixed everything so the door opens and closes very smoothly. ALSO - he affixed a metal brace along the inside top of my garage door (which was starting to sag) at no charge in lieu of the keypad. Awesome - I had no expectation of any trade for not wanting the keypad. The windows in my garage are in plastic pop-ins frames. I mentioned to Chris that I was going to pop them out to paint them, but he warned me that they are almost impossible to put back together and get back in the door especially when they are over 20 yrs old like mine. I don't know how many hours of my life Chris saved with that advice, but I can guess a lot. I am really grateful. Hobbs is a quality company with great people.

Fantastic service and great deal through Angie's List Big Deal. We'd been waiting for a deal to come along on garage door repair/refurbishment for a while, so when I saw this come through, I jumped on it. We have two garage doors that were in disrepair, largely through neglect from the previous owner. One of the garage door openers didn't work and the garage door tended to jump off its tracks. The other door often tended to get stuck. As a result of these issues, we didn't use the garage doors and used our front door for the main family entrance. Our desire was to get the doors repaired and add an entry keypad so that we could begin using the garage as our main entrance. After purchasing the Big Deal, we were contacted the next business day by the company representative, who was pleasant and professional. She set us up with an appointment the same week. The service technician called in advance, as promised, and show up right on time. He took approximately two hours and did a very thorough job of getting everything working again and conducting an inspection to make sure everything was up to code. He added new torsion springs and safety cables (which were not present before) and aligned the track. He also identified the problem with the nonfunctioning garage door opener: the main gear had deteriorated. He offered to replace it at a cost of only $38 extra ? well worth it. Both doors work fabulously now and the new keypad is fantastic. The technician impressed me with his skill and breadth of knowledge. He worked efficiently and gave me a good overview of the services before he performed them as well as a summary after he was done. I'm very pleased with this company and will definitely use again in the future.

This company was incredible from the very first day. I contacted them at 7am the morning after the accident and they were able to send someone out within a couple hours to assess the damage and give me an estimate. They really went out of their way to assist me in quickly securing my home again. The employees were courteous adn professional. I was extremely pleased with their staff and service. They were a huge relief during this very stressful time.

They are great.. Their technicians arrived when expected and stayed at the job until it was complete. We purchased a Martin door and they said it was a little more complex than other doors so it took a little longer than usual, but when they were done it was solidly installed and we have had no issues with it since then. The gentlemen arrived and got right to work, they were polite and friendly and answered all of our questions. I would highly recommend them to anyone else needing a garage door installed.

I called them right after the hurricane they sent someone out that monday to inspect my door and provided me an honest quote. I contacted a few other garage door companies to get other quotes, had to wait on average a week for the other companies and when it was all said and done decided to go with Hobbs. They were prompt, completed a total rip out and new installation in about 2 hours and followed up with me to make sure i was pleased with everything. Very happy customer.

They did a really good job, the fellow was very knowledgeable and he did a great job. Everything is working much better than it was before.

It was excellent. The technician was professional, and worked in a timely manner. He quickly removed the old unit, and installed the new one, replacing the sensors as well. He then took away the old unit to be recycled.

In response to an We called Hobbs in to adjust our 20+ yr old garage door which wasn't closing properly. The technician assessed the issue and replaced the springs, performed maintenance on the unit and reinforced the door. He took his time, tested the unit thoroughly and explained to me everything he did. He even offered advice on what unit to buy when our old unit eventually goes bad without suggesting that we do it right away. He did not try to sell us a new door or a new unit, just made our old door work like new. The garage door opens and closes much quieter now and we are very pleased with the job. This was money well spent considering that the under two hour job performed by a professional would have taken my husband a whole day or even a weekend to complete.

Hobbs Door Service was excellent. We recently had a new addition built and this new garage needed a garage door opener. I called Hobbs at the suggestion of our builder.I was able to quickly and easily schedule the install of the new opener and repair of the old one. I explained I needed a new opener for the new construction and I was given a fair price over the phone - Done! I also said I wanted to purchase a second New Opener to replace the existing unit that had driven itself off the tracks. I explained the problem, and said I wanted new unit. Hobbs suggested I let the technician look at it first. We scheduled the appointment and the technician arrived at the scheduled time. It was close to 100 degrees that day and he worked in that heat, installed the new unit in no time. He then took a look at my old unit and was able to get it back on track, he added some stabilizing hardware and was even able to fix the place where the garage door got bent out of shape - without my having to purchase a new door panel. Instead of selling me a new unit, Hobbs saved me money by repairing my old unit. To top that all off, they gave me two universal remotes and programmed so that I can open either garage door from both of my cars. Excellent service. I highly recommend Hobbs Door Service.

Garage door stopped working Saturday night. Called and left a message at Hobbs door service. I had used them several years before and was really impressed by their service. Since they were listed on Angie's List I knew it was a right choice. Janice Hobbs called me first thing Monday morning and set up an appointment as first service call. Kurt was at my house on time and was very professional and diagnosed the problem right away. I asked him to give me a price on fixing our key-less entry. I let him know we had purchased it from a home improvement store. They called the home improvement store and matched their price. The home improvement store was a few dollars cheaper than theirs. I was very impressed that they did this. He then fixed the door lock that the builder didn't install right. Kurt explained everything thoroughly and gave me advice about houses being burglarized with key-less entry and what I should do to prevent my code being seen by someone. He was very nice and helpful. This was just wonderful service. It couldn't have been better. I am very impressed with this company and will use them again.

Excellent and efficient installation of a garage door opener.

They did a great job taking down our old door and installing the new one. They cleaned up well when they were finished and hauled away our old door for us. They are a small family owned business that is local. We have used them before and they did so good, and that is why we decided to use them again.
