We were very impressed with Virginia Kitchen and Bath. Our initial meeting with Dale McQuillen (designer) went extremely well and he made some excellent recommendations for the renovation. We were very impressed with Dale's professionalism, attention to detail and personal touch. The two individuals who completed the renovation, Javier and Cristian, were outstanding: a pleasure to work with, highly responsive and very professional. The bathroom was transformed from a typical 1950s' bathroom to one that is contemporary and very attractive. With Dale's valuable advice from the onset, strong customer orientation and highly-skilled renovation team, we couldn't be more pleased with the project. We would recommend Virginia Kitchen and Bath without hesitation -- and would definitely hire the firm again for any additional renovation we might need.
Description of Work: Complete renovation of one bathroom; replaced floor tile/light fixture and painted another bathroom.

I had a great experience with Virginia Kitchen and Bath. I am a DYI type of person but I just didn't have the time nor the energy to tackle the job myself but one day I was getting my hair cut next to VK&B and I decided I would go in and inquire about getting my spare bath spruced up a little bit. That is where I meet Dale who right away made me feel comfortable by walking me through VK&B's process for remodeling my bathroom. He was very helpful in picking out the materials and finishes for the project and helping me design an awesome bathroom. Dale thought the project would take 4 days and they were actually finished in two. Burak was the project manger who schedule the work, ensured the crew was there on time. ensured the materials were there when needed, and the project went smoothly. Oscar, not much I and say about Oscar and his crew, but they are true craftsman and a perfectionists. They were friendly, respectful, and at the end of the day they cleaned up the project area like they were never there. I would definitely recommend this crew and all the support staff at VK&B and I am planning on using them when I remodel my master bathroom in the future.
Description of Work: Replaced the flooring, toilet, and granite counter tops in my spare bathroom.

I had a question regarding a rough idea of what my master bath remodel would cost given approx size and materials needed. I spoke with the owner, Dale, who was extremely friendly and extremely helpful over the phone. He was aware that I had already basically committed to using a different contractor (someone we've been using for years), but didn't try to pressure me into anything at all. In fact, if it wasn't due to my loyaty to my current contractor, I'd use VKB in a heartbeat. And, since we're planning a kitchen remod in a couple years, they will be who I call to do the work. Really, really a great first impression with this company!
Description of Work: I called to get a very rough ballpark estimate of labor / materials cost for a master bath remodel.

This was my first renovation and I was pleasantly surprised how efficient everything went--from Tara, to Burak the Project Manager, to Alejandro and his team. The team arrived at the time prescribed and worked tirelessly all day till quitting time. Burak called me and checked to make sure everything was going smooth. Upon completion I wanted a few extra tweaks and Virginia Kitchen and Bath was more than willing to accommodate my wishes. Alejandro even came on Sunday to finish a couple of things. If you are in need of a new kitchen or bath, I would definitely recommend Virginia Kitchen and Bath.
Description of Work: I live in a Townhouse and needed a new main bathroom. I needed to have the whole room gutted and updated. I had several contractors give me an estimate and Virginia Kitchen and Bath was the most reasonable. I met with Tara, the designer whom i loved, and I liked what she suggested so I signed the contract. Now I have a total new bathroom with beautiful tile around the tub all the way to the ceiling and tile on the floor. Also new vanity, medicine cabinet, toilet, everything.

It started out okay. We met with Leon (I believe he is the owner) in our home and he went over the project with us. We wanted the whole bathroom torn up and rebuilt, essentially, the most complicated element probably being the heated floor. The project started at the beginning of August, and we finally stopped asking them to come back and fix things in early November. For reference, our original contract said that the project would be done in eight days. The biggest problem overall was a general sloppiness, and an almost complete lack of responsiveness and supervision on the part of the nominal supervisor, Yunus (?). To summarize as concisely as possible: Technical issues and sloppiness. The heated floor coils were installed improperly -- they covered most of the floor EXCEPT the area directly in front of the sink (i.e., the area where we spend the most time standing). The supervisor did not seem to notice. We called them back to fix them and they tried to install a mat by opening the ceiling on the floor below, which didn't work. They then had to come back and tear up floor and cabinets in part of the floor and install more coils. Floor finally works to our liking. The fixtures were initially installed loosely and improperly, e.g., shower doors reversed, hot and cold water reversed in the shower, drain in the sink was too slow and our plumber said the pipes underneath are installed incorrectly. We had them come back repeatedly, but the project manager never seemed to remember the things that needed to be fixed. The drain is still not great. Supervision. Lacking almost entirely. The project manager would say he was coming out and not show up. Even the workmen seemed baffled by this. He would seem to take note of the problems that we identified but then not follow up, leaving us to contact him again. He would say he was doing an inspection and then not do it (at one point I recall saying to him "we shouldn't have to do our own inspection"). No one seemed to be supervising the project manager, so we never heard from Leon or anyone else about how the project was going. Taking responsibility. They created a leak into our front hallway, which is something that we could see happening in the course of a project, but then when we pointed it out to them, the workmen responded: "that was already there" - it absolutely was not. They did come back to fix it. We didn't like that they tried to avoid responsibility. Yunus never explicitly apologized for any of the delays or problems. Quality: In the end, we're happy with the result, but were incredibly frustrated by the lack of communication, the delays, and the need to ask them to come back repeatedly to repair problems that we identified along the way.
Description of Work: The provider renovated a full bath, replacing the floors, tub, sink, and counters, adding a heated floor and glass shower doors, and repainting.
At first, I was apprehensive in using this company because they did not want to obtain work permits, and they told me?permits were not necessary unless a wall was being removed.? However, I called the county and described exactly what kind of work was being done, and the county?confirmed that two work permits were required:? 1 builder's permit for the shower pan, and 1 for the plumbing.??Ultimately, the?company did get the permits.?? I was?also apprehensive because?Virginia Kitchen & Bath subcontracts the?out, and the work was not going to be?completed by a licensed plumber, but rather, a general contractor.??In fact the worker in charge of the project was only 22 years old, which didn't fill me with confidence -- at first.??However, Alejandro (the?person assigned to?do the work) turned out to be very good.? He was fast, efficient, and the work?looks to be of high quality.??I am very pleased?with the results.? The materials used are of good quality.? Specifically, I'm referring to the tile in the shower and floor, the faucet, and the granite counter top.? However, the quality of cabinet for the vanity, while decent,?is no match for the quality of the cabinets in my kitchen,?which was remodeled 2 years previously by another company.? But, the vanity will not be getting as heavy use as the cabinets in the kitchen, so it's perfectly acceptable.? It may be that they offer a different ranges of cabinet quality, and the one that was in my contract was not their best. It should be noted that I was under pressure to get this work done quickly, due to damage caused by a previous flood, and the fact that I was expecting out of town guests in a few weeks, and therefore, had to have a working bathroom.? If I wasn't under such pressure to have this work done so quickly, I may not have gone with this company.? It was really only because they could get this project completed, with time to spare, before my guests arrived that I agreed to?hire this company.?? I went to the showroom without the intention of signing a contract, but ended up doing so,?knowing that I?had the 3 day termination clause.??I had?a case of buyer's remorse and shot an email to the company that, the designer found offensive, and actually yelled at me over the phone when I called to follow up.? I was so shaken by the experience, that I was in tears, and only agreed to proceed with this company, despite my concerns, because I believed they probably did do quality work, based on other Angie's List ratings.? But after a very emotional, rocky start, the company did ultimately, win me over as a customer.? I do have another bathroom that needs remodeling, and I will likely have VKB do the work.
Description of Work: 5'x7' bathroom was completely gutted. The shower tub was replaced with a walk-in shower with glass doors. Porcelain tile in shower was installed going all the way up to the ceiling. Everything was replaced: exhaust fan, light fixtures, light switch, vent cover, vanity, sink, faucet, shut-off valves. Vanity top was replaced with granite. Vinyl flooring and wooden baseboards were replaced with ceramic tile. Two coats of paint.

We had a great experience with Virginia Kitchen and Bath. My wife and I are not the HGTV type, so we came into the experience a little overwhelmed, but Dale did a great job of walking us through the process and helping us design two awesome bathrooms that we love! I can't say enough about Burak and the staff that did the work in our home, they were friendly, respectful, and conscious to clean up each day before they left. I would 100% recommend Virginia Kitchen and Bath and we plan to use them again to update our other bathroom.

,It went well. We wanted to start within two weeks after the estimate was done. They obliged and work was started. The project was completed about two days late but that was understandable since we wanted to start the project quickly and there was insufficient time to get the granite cut and ready. But overall we [my wife and I] were happy with the workmanship and the project. The crew was respectful to our needs and answered all our questions.
Description of Work: We had a spare room in our basement which was meant to be a bathroom. We hired Virginia Kitchen and Bath to built a bathroom. This required creating a wall and ceiling which was painted. To create more space since the room was small, the bathroom door was shifted so that we could accommodate a bigger vanity. The bathroom floors was tiled and a shower was installed which had glass doors. All the raw materials [except for the paint] was purchased from the provider showroom.

Our first contact was with Leon, the designer/estimator, who listened carefully to what we wanted and took measurements. We were very impressed by his technical knowledge. VKB's estimate came in a bit lower than the others we received and so, after a visit to their showroom, we decided to go with them. We selected everything needed for the project?cabinets, cabinet hardware, backsplash tile, etc.?at the showroom except for the actual granite slab. They told us that, once the supplies were delivered and they began the project, it would be completed within four weeks. In fact, it was essentially finished in three. This short turnaround was possible because they assigned a dedicated team of three workers to work on the project every day from Monday to Friday from beginning to end. The workers did everything possible to minimize the disruption to our home and to leave it clean every evening whey they left. It is impossible for a project of this scope to be completed without minor glitches but any that occurred were addressed promptly by either Kemal at the showroom or our project manager, Andy. The best part of the experience was working with Andy, the job foreman. Andy is outstanding at what he does. He's a meticulous worker who's extremely knowledgeable about contracting work and he was always ready to take time to answer our questions and find solutions when necessary.
Description of Work: Completely gutted kitchen. Removed soffits and moved some wiring to accommodate ceiling-height cabinets. Removed header between kitchen and family room. Installed hard wood floors in kitchen area, laundry room and an adjacent room. Installed cabinets, granite counter top and stainless steel sink. Installed cabinets and a bar sink in a previously unused passageway to create a butler's pantry. Did necessary electrical and plumbing work. Painted walls and woodwork and installed outlet and switch plates. Everything was included except appliances and paint.

Excellent and very responsive design for both the kitchen and master bath. No substantive changes at construction time for the master bath but a few for the kitchen as we got into the details. VKB was very responsive in calling my attention to details where they needed my input at construction time, and very responsive for the few changes we requested during the process (additional cabinets, some changes to the granite counter-top, etc.)

We contracted Virginia and Bath to remodel our bathrooms back in May. Due to summer vacations and business travel they were flexible to schedule the start date at the end of August. The team was punctual and flexible with a few adjustments to our schedule. They cleaned up at the end of each day. Had to remind them about trash pick-up a few times but were very quick to respond and apologetic. The work completed is quality and they will guide you through the process in making changes or offer advise on layouts, colors, etc. Both bathrooms were gutted down to the studs and all new fixtures were installed. The process took about 5 weeks and the finished product was exactly what we were expecting. Request that all selections are printed and given to you at the start of the project to avoid confusion on color selections or products ordered. We did receive a hand written list and asked for it to be submitted electronically. Overall they did a great job and would recommend.

Although they did not serve as our contractor, we did find the bathroom tile we wanted at their showroom. However, it was difficult to get a quote for tile prices, and we never understood why. They kept asking us to come in and talk to a salesperson. I visited the showroom several times and each time I showed up they looked at me like I was in the wrong place at the wrong time. I realized after some time that they are used to dealing with contractors and may lack the customer service orientation I would have expected. They also failed to tell me in advance that they charge extra for payments by credit card, 3 percent of the bill. Why? Because they said that most people pay by check (that would have to be contractors who know from previous experience). I like their product but did not find they service-oriented for the average consumer.

Virginia Kitchen and Bath renovated the kitchen, bathroom, and hallway in our townhouse, replacing the subfloor, floor tiles, cabinets, and several appliances. We now have a modern, pristine first floor that meets the current plumbing, electrical, and fire building codes of for Montgomery County, Maryland. The team did excellent work, and stayed within the price and the time frame we had agreed upon. Team members were courteous as well as conscientious. They made every effort to ensure that construction caused minimal inconvenience, and several worked weekends to keep the project on schedule. The project manager replied promptly to our voicemails, texts, and emails. This was our first renovation, and Leon was especially helpful, from the beginning through the end of the project. He explained options well, and was flexible in responding to changes and upgrades as the project progressed. We especially appreciated that, while he discussed possible expensive upgrades with us, he never pressured us to buy them, instead recommending materials for their functionality. We would definitely employ VKB again.

Virginia Kitchen and Bath successfully completed our kitchen and master bathroom renovation. They advertise they are a one-stop shop and they are. Leon was our designer and provided great design ideas and assisted us in our selections. Once the work started, everything went as scheduled and when the inevitable construction hiccups/changes occurred, the project manager, Kemal, stepped up and resolved them immediately. The construction workers were highly skilled and considerate of our house. We could not be happier with their work. I definitely recommend Virginia Kitchen and Bath to anyone looking into a remodeling project. When asked if they could take some professional photos of the kitchen and master bathroom and a video of me expressing my satisfaction with Virginia Kitchen and Bath for their website, I was happy to oblige.

We first hired them to remodel the kitchen and then rehired them to update the bathroom. They were just as reliable the second time as they were the first. The team at Virginia Kitchen and Bath are sensitive to what I want while helping me understand the realities of the space. We never waited for workers to show up and were pleased to see the management team showing up regularly to check on progress and customer satisfaction. The project moved fast and was on schedule; delays were my mine and out of their control. Virginia Kitchen and Bath are best when using standard cabinets and counters, yet that easily accommodated my need for customization.

The job went very well. The designer, Dale McQuillen, provided suggestions for some minor, but very pleasant modifications to the layout of the kitchen. He then provided an estimate of the total (quite reasonable) cost. He made clear how any changes to the original contract would be handled as the job progressed. We had a few changes to appearance of the kitchen and Dale handled them in a timely and efficient way. Virginia Kitchen and Bath has an excellent selection of materials to choose from and we were able to get very nice choices for the new kitchen. We were looking for a country French look and found exactly the right options at VKB. Thanks to Dale for his endless patience as we considered and reconsidered the options. We found exactly what we wanted. The workers that did much of the work, Javi and Frank, are the best. They were skilled, courteous and very efficient. They arrived when they promised, worked right through the day and wasted no time. At the end of each workday, they cleaned the worksite so that we had use of as much of the kitchen as possible. They were also careful to make sure that our pets stayed in the house, as requested. The job that they did was superb. We are very happy with our new kitchen and highly recommend the folks at Virginia Kitchen and Bath.

The project went extremely well, on time, and supervised by a project manager. Work accomplished by a construction specialist and his assistant. The construction specialist was an expert in all phases of the work including plumbing, electrical, masonry, and carpentry. There were no sub contracts for any of the work. Job was completed in 10 days and to our complete satisfaction. And the best thing about it was their low bid of $15,000 was considerably lower that other bids that I got which were in the range of $25,000 to $32,000. I highly recommend Virginia Kitchen and Bath.

Our master bathroom remodeling went well and smoothly from the beginning to the end. At the store, Leon explained the detailed process and bathroom design with us at the start of the job. Kemal then helped us to pick out accessories, fixtures, and everything else. We were then assigned with a project manager, Burak. Our remodel took one full week. Burak would stop by everyday to check on the crew and made sure we were OK with the work. The crew not only did a great job but also able to communicate efficiently in English with us. They were flexible and don't mind us making changes once the job started. Burak was also very responsive to our questions. He would reply my text even after work hours or in the weekend. I would definitely recommend Virginia Kitchen and Bath. Easy and great company to work with!!!

It went fine. There were a few misunderstandings but none worth mentioning or that were not resolved. An example was a two week delay because the free standing tub I had ordered arrived with a crack in it...certainly no fault of Virginia Kitchen. I was not unhappy about this and just wanted to point out that these things can happen. Leon had designed the kitchen I had done by ths company in 20013 and I was so happy with the results, I went back to him. He is extremely knowledgeable about so many things and helpful with his suggestions. The work crew did a fine job as did the project manager. These guys came early, worked hard, and stayed late in order to expedite the project. My new bathroom looks beautiful!

They had several specialists that assisted us in designing/obtaining products/scheduling production. They were extremely organized. We choose this company because of their "can do attitude", along with the rating they had with Angie's List. We had interviewed many prospective contractors as well as private companies & decided this venture was to be costly no matter what, or who we chose, so decided to use the best company with the best reputation & that paid off well. We were very impressed with the kindness & attitude when some designs, due to my bare studs & walls caused challenges. They always came out if there was an issue of any nature & helped the installers & us pick an alternative design, or product. They always answerd our phone calls/texts in timely manner, especially when the message left was not a good one. Example, my vanity came to the house without a left finished side/my glass installers installed our door improperly. Never a problem attitude, only we'll fix the problem. They explained not only why this could have happened, but what they would do to fix the problem. We are totally happy with the quality of work they performed. All their employees were top notch in our book & we can't wait to start the next remodel, as soon as we've designed the next room. As far as we're concerned, we will be exclusively dealing with Virginia Kitchen & Bath in Herndon.

Initiated contact directly in store with Dale. Expressed that the re-modeling was not to be high-end and that I was concerned on keeping costs down as much as possible without sacrificing quality. I asked for an initial ballpark estimate for a typical 5x7/8 job and was told it would be around $10-$12K. I set up a time for the estimate that week. Dale came out, measured, took notes on what we said we wanted and did not want. He mentioned a few things that would clearly drive up costs while he was there and my husband and I expressed we were not interested. Afterwards, I asked if we could discuss how the job would be done and what their process was. I inquired on whether they would provide an itemized list and costs. I was told "no" that was too much work. Their estimates included the deliverables of the project but would not itemize the product costs. I asked if I could show him things that I was interested in as far as designs and products that I have been spending a long time gathering and thinking about and once again I was told that he didn't want to look at Pinterest boards, etc. he didn't have time for that. I asked a lot of questions re: the effort and costs and this clearly annoyed him and at one point he basically told me that maybe their company was not a right fit for them. When I asked for the ballpark estimate again, the price rose to $12 -$15. I will have to say that I felt that my opinions didn't matter and that I asked too many questions. His tone was arrogant and extremely off-putting to say the least. When I received the quote the following week, it was clear to me that he didn't even bother to look at the notes from the walk-thru. The estimate appeared to be a cookie cutter estimate for a typical job with the bottom line now reaching $18K. I say it was a cookie cutter estimate b/c there were several things wrong with it. We had a single vanity sink and he quoted 2 sinks. We had 2 mirrors we were replacing with one and he still quoted 2 mirrors. We wanted 1 light b/c we had 1 sink and we got 2 lights estimated. We said we were not replacing the fan and he quoted a fan. He did not quote the towel bars correctly either. All these things were discussed specifically during the estimate and he took pictures too! I replied back with all these findings and then he sent an updated quote that lowered to $17K. In the end, I couldn't work with someone who clearly didn't seem to want my business from the get-go, didn't pay attention to any of the notes and pictures he took before preparing the estimate and didn't appear was going to be open to my opinions. I also didn't like to see costs so hidden. It was definitely not a good fit for me but maybe would be for another person.

Virginia Kitchen & Bath in Herndon did an amazing job with the design and renovation of our townhouse kitchen. Our home was built in the late 70s, and we saw many challenges with getting the kitchen that we wanted in such a small area that had windows and doors in less than ideal locations. Leon was our designer, and he did a great job providing a good and realistic design for the space we have. He reassured us that we would be pleased with the result, and we are! Burak was our project manager and kept the renovation flowing -- it was a complete gut job and took 2 1/2 weeks from start to finish. He was highly accessible and patient with all of our questions and concerns. The crew, Oscar and Alfonso (and sometimes Alejandro), were very professional and cleaned up every night before leaving. Oscar was the team lead and was truly proficient with all of the work he performed. One particular aspect of the project involved a highly skilled and nuanced touch -- the result was truly impressive. He takes pride in his work and was very patient with the minutia that we threw at him on a daily basis. We've heard horror stories about the renovation process, especially for kitchens, and we researched for about a year before selecting VKB. We are happy that we did, and we would use them again.
