Have been using TCA for a while for general cleaning once a month. Basic Services: Vacuuming, surface cleaning, etc. Rotate areas every other cleaning. Nothing extraordinary. Cleaning is fine. Never as detailed as I would like, but that's a personal issue -- I am just picky, and they are doing what they are supposed to be doing. Scheduling: I prefer to be home when they come, so I am home promptly at 2pm to make sure they can get in -- it's never 2pm like scheduled. I think it's the nature of the business. I am flexible since they have last-minute cancellations and have to change locations quickly, but my wish is for it to be a firm time every month. I have a relative in the same biz, so I understand a little more from behind the scenes and can chill out about the timing. Customer Service: Quick email responses to my questions and scheduling needs.

I have been using them for two years or more and have been very satisfied. I am able to find out the day before what thirty minute window they will arrive in, and they are pretty prompt. They do a decent job cleaning, better than other cleaning services I have used, and the price is a little less, very reasonable. If you're not going to do your own cleaning, they are a good alternative.

We have used the Cleaning Authority for twelve years and have always been very happy with their work. The workers are friendly and trustworthy, and the administration is very responsive. The Cleaning Authority has been cleaning my house (two houses now that we've moved) for about 6 years now. They always arrive on time, and they are always very detailed oriented with their cleaning. Sometimes I come home to find that they did extra things that are not in the cleaning agreement like making the bed. They use a rotation based cleaning system that we've found to be very effective. We have very little time for cleaning, and this service we've been able to eliminate most of our house cleaning duties. They take care of all the stuff we don't want to do, and they do a good job at it. I'd definitely recommend them to others seeking a reliable and trustworthy cleaning service. Also, the manager there and the owner have always been very professional and accommodating. They are fair with their prices and service compared to the service we had used before them. We've never experienced any 'issues' as some have on this forum, but the few times we've had to interact with management to reschedule cleanings, they have been very easy to deal with and absolutely professional.

They do a awesome job and use there supplies (green company ) always looks nice when you come home to it and they leave you a list of what was done, a list signed by the cleaners and on occasion supervisor stops in and also signs !!!!

It didnt go, because they didnt want our business!
Description of Work: We had initially contacted this company last year for an estimate for routine bi-weekly cleanings. We got our quote but had decided to not use them at that time. Now a number of months later, we contacted them again and were told that our quote expired and someone needed to come out again. The woman came and walked through our house and said we would be emailed an estimate. We were never emailed the estimate and tried contacting them multiple times to receive it with no answer. Since we were very interested in this company, we called to schedule another visit hoping to finally get our quote. Another woman came yesterday, stayed for 5 minutes and left promising us an estimate by the end of the day. Again, we did not hear from them. I had to call the main number this morning and ask for the quote to please be sent. A couple hours later, we got an email from the manager stating that they did not want us as customers because they felt "there are certain things that they just will not be able to accomplish on a consistent basis". We are incredibly clean people and currently use another cleaning service so its not like they were walking in to a pig pen nor did we have any outrageous requests- we just wanted them to pick up the bi-weekly cleanings that our other company was doing! The price was fair and we understood their offerings as a company (we aggressively sought them out because if it) so to be told that they felt that they would not do a good job for us was disappointing. By this company's self-admitted shortcomings, I would be weary of using them unless you are comfortable with what would appear to be mediocre service. What a shame!

We chose not to take on this job for several reasons, when I did the initial in-home meeting, this prospect gave me a lot of the reasons that she had gotten rid of previous companies, plural. I've been doing this for many years, I felt that from her complaints of other companies, her demeanor and many things she was expecting to be done were beyond what we do, beyond what most companies would do, beyond reasonable expectations and further she would expect it from us, even though I was trying to explain what she could expect. My manager went out there on another occasion to re-estimate after they had gone elsewhere and then came back to us, was 15 minutes early in the morning to meet her, the [Member Information Removed] prospect was extremely agitated at that. All in all, I did not want to take on a job I felt would end up with her being upset yet blaming us, even though I am explicit about what we do and CAN'T do. Sometimes it's just better to not get in a situation that is going to be a bad match, I try and avoid this so we do not have unfair ratings on the web, even though on this the prospect rated us an "F" anyway. The rating is not quite fair, Quality an F, we never cleaned, how can you get an F, Responsiveness, we always responded, we just did not take on the job, we were 15 minutes early for a meeting with her, early, we got another F. I always treat people with professionalism, the rating here is not a fair one, hope the other ratings show that.

I have been using The Cleaning Authority for the past 10 years and would highly recommend them. They do a great job, very thorough. I love the cleaning rotation system they use to ensure my whole house is clean. The cleaning team is professional and polite. They pay attention to details. The office/schedule staff is flexible when I need to change my regular cleaning date due to business travel or vacation. They are also accommodating when I need to have additional services. I would highly recommend The Cleaning Authority.

We signed up for The Cleaning Authority long before we joined Angie's List. Initially, The Cleaning Authority provided excellent cleaning, but that standard seemed t oxlip over the 3 years we used the service. Also, I noticed that our walls and furniture seemed to be getting rough handling, and dings and scrapes were building up. In November 2012, we had the first floor remodeled: it was painted, had hardwood floors installed and purchased some new furniture (this was when we joined Angie's List). I called the owner to specifically explain that I had trouble over the year with dings and scrapes on our walls and furniture. I explained that after our remodel, we did not want this to continue. I asked if she would be able to speak with the cleaners, and explain that they needed to take care not to drop things on the floors, including the vacuum, or run into the walls, especially around corners and on the stairs. She said that it would not be a problem at all. Well, we used them 2 more times after the remodel, and saw dings in the brand new wood floors, and a scrape in the wall through the paint and into the dry wall. I called and complained and the owner did not seem to even care. I cancelled the service. After that, I checked on Angie's List and found that the reviews were poor. Too bad I didn't check while I was on finding flooring and painting service providers!

You can see in her writing she mentions it the owner is a "she ", I am the owner and the Chantilly office and I am a male, this is an obvious mistake that I wish Angie's list would correct it does not belong to my office.

Mostly I was satisfied with the work performed by the crews. Then a few weeks ago I came home to find one of my cats had been shut inside a bedroom when they left. The door was latched, no windows were open, so the door didn't swing shut by itself. When vacuuming is going on, cats tend to hide under beds, and this service is well aware that I have cats - they have to vacuum litter and clean around two litter boxes. My cat dug up the carpet by the door, trying to escape. I contacted the company and was astounded by the attitude I got from the owner, Ron. He said my cat caused the damage, not the crew, and the contract I signed said they were not responsible for damage caused by my pet. He said his crew couldn't "control my pet" and that some clients want doors shut afterwards and it's too hard for his crews to keep it all straight. He did not offer any consideration until the 4th or 5th e-mail, by which time I had realized that he had no integrity. Bottom line - if you have pets, do not use this service, and if you want to hire a company that respects its customers, do not hire this company.

I am adding exactly what I emailed back to her, her initial email she was very upset and wanted the carpeting replaced. The cat was no where in sight when the girls closed the door, we have no issues with peoples pets, have over 800 customers and most have pets without any issues. This was unfortunate but we can't keep track of hidden cats in the house. I was polite, we had cleaned this house 81 times without incident prior to this and [member name removed] blew up. In the end she denied she asked for the carpet replacement but should have been offered a free cleaning, at that point I offered but she basically told me "too late". So after doing a good job 81 times over 4 years she terminated the service. Yes we closed the door, no we did not know or see the cat in there, below is the email I sent her for your review, again integrity does not mean we are repsonsible for damage the pet directly did, we can't be held for that, there are far too many pets out there, all different, we work around them, beside them and make sure they do not get out, but we can't be aware of where they are every minute and be hled liable for them damaging the carpet. We do what we can on this, but unfortunately this time. Like I said for the 4 previous year and 81 visits she was happy with the service, after one mistake I have no integrity etc. etc. Not true, I apologized over and over, but reminded her of the stipulation in the agreement about pets not being our responsibilty, no more than your homeowners insurance excluding coverage for pet damages, it is because they are animales and can't be controlled or accounted for. We were sorry and told her so, she wanted something back but I was never sure what it was, free cleaning would not have been an issue, she never stated that and I felt aftewr wanted carpet replacement offering a free cleaning would have made her more angry. I know she was upset but she was not really fair here and this one time occurance should not out weigh four years of good service. My email to [member name removed] May 16, 2013. [member name removed],I'm sorry that we had an issue with your cat but we cannot be responsible for damage that people's pets cause in the home. We do our best to try and make sure that we account for the pets while in the house. sometimes it is impossible so I'm sorry I cannot be responsible for what happened to the carpet. Our agreement that we signed states that we cannot be responsible for peoples pets and this is the reason why things happen that are beyond our control I am sure the girls did not know where the cat was and this was not done maliciously.I can note the cleaning ticket to not close any doors in the house when we are finished but outside of doctors really not a lot I can do about this. Again my apologies.

Had them come in every other Friday for about three years. They banged vacuums into very expensive furniture, resulting in damage. They also broke several family heirloom items that we complained about, but never received compensation for. They sprayed floor wax onto furniture and on our walls, which we had to have repainted, and also banged vacuums and other cleaning implements into walls and wainscoating. Overall quality of cleaning was generally okay; they seemed to be working hard for at least two hours per visit (only two people living here, so not a huge mess). In all, I think we were probably dumb for keeping them as long as we did. As one other person mentioned, at first, they were great and sent the same crew every time. Later, that gave way to what seemed to be temps, most who could not understand a word of English. So, whenever we were home and tired to ask them about correcting something from a previous visit, it was like talking to myself. They would nod and smile, and essentially ignore us. When we noticed, early on, that they would bring dirty rags, mops and odd looking cleaning products, we insisted that they use ours. Unfortunately, that was also an issue, as they did not seem to be able to read the labels to use them properly. I could write a book about that by itself.... They seem to have become an entrance company for people who have just entered the country, though I have no idea if they are here legally or not.
Description of Work: Bi-weekly cleaning service. 5000sq ft. $140 per visit. Two cleaners. Guest rooms and finished basement were not included. No bed making, windows, dishes, or other services involved.

No dirty rags ever used, we do our own laundry, clean micro fiber towels on every job, clean bag and thgen into the dirty bag once used. All employees checked and have legal docs to work here. We have no such thing as floor wax so not sure where this customer is getting this from, we dust with damp dust cloth, no polish or wax at all. If this was all true why stay 3 years, a lot of assumptions here are not true.

Initially they were Good, they sent the same crew almost every visit. Over the past year they have been sending various crews with mixed results. One visit resulted in a few broken items in the house. One was a handmade item that was not replaceable/repairable. The other was no longer available so we provided them with information on a similar item at their request. They delivered a different item, then they took it back and told us to procure and they would credit us. The issue remains unresolved. The current level of service is far below the initial contract period and we will be looking for a replacement service.
Description of Work: We have been using Cleaning Authority for bi-weekly cleanings of our small home since May 2010.

At first we were OK with the cleaning provided by this company. Since we did not want to provide keys, we had them come every second Friday morning. Then we noticed that the cleaning they do is not all that thorough, even though they are supposed to concentrate on different areas with each visit. We paid $138 for the first two "thorough cleanings", then $98 for each visit after. While the ladies moved our papers and knick-knacks every single time (even though they were in the same place they were put last time), some other things, like small plants, were not moved to clean behind them. We had to ask them to move the plants and clean behind them. They're supposed to have a supervisor do surprise checks on how they clean, but nothing is ever found by the supervisor. I finally had to ask one of the ladies to clean our blinds, which were obviously dirty from day one. When we went on vacation, we wanted to cancel two sessions. We were told that we would have to pay for two new "thorough cleanings" for $138 to get back on schedule. Shortly afterwards one of the ladies broke a porcelain knick-knack. The supervisor recorded the incident, but there was never any apology, nor any offer for recompense. Recently we noticed that one of our formal dining room chairs has two scratches on one of the legs. My wife knows that they were not there the day before the last cleaning, because she had removed some items from the china cabinet right beside it. The day after the cleaning she was putting items back and saw the scratches. We're guessing they were caused by the vaccuum wand. My wife tried to speak to someone about the broken porcelain and the chair and was told that she would get a call back, but nobody ever called. During a second call she was told the same thing and then insisted on talking to someone. The owner/manager asked my wife what she wanted them to do about it. She told him that the porcelain item was purchased overseas and could not be replaced and that she would like to hear from the company what they would offer. The manager asked for a picture of the chair. We never received a call back on this. So I sent a follow up with pictures and let the company know that we no longer want their services. Nobody ever responded.
Description of Work: General house cleaning, although they're only doing a superficial job at it. It's good enough if you want major surfaces to be clean, but don't expect detailed cleaning, even during what they call their "initial detail" cleaning, nor during the days when they're supposed to pay special attention to a specific area. They were usually punctual (give or take 5-10 minutes) and spent about two hours each time with two ladies.

This report is tainted by the customer, first of all the person we cleaned for at this address has a different name, I am assuming the report here was written by her husband whom I never dealt with, it was always with her and his report was his view from her account, not directly from dealing with our company. We were always responsive, the broken item mentioned, we called right away, asked her for the cost or value of replacement, were told it can't be replaced. AT THIS POINT I asked what would you like me to do to make good on this. I was told and I quote "I don't know" . I'm not sure how to make good on an accident, I would have offered a fair replacement cost or free cleaning, they did not help me in setting a value. The scratches he mentions were very minimal on the legs, they appeared to be from normal wear & tear. Here is my note in our system about the breakage Oct 21, 2011 as added the day she called: "" 10/21/2011 we broke stuff, is talking with her husband about entire situation and will call me back. I asked her what can I do, she stated "I don't know" so really hard to help her. She is unhappy but has no idea where I can go to make her happy."" This customer was very difficult to deal with, out of the 15 scheduled cleanings they canceled 4 of them, out of the 11 we did I had the quality supervisor go to the site and inspect the cleaning to avoid the complaints. We keep very detailed records of customer issues. He has not given one fair score or grade, we are very professional, we are very responsive. We are priced in the same area as other cleaning competitors in our market that provide the same services, apples to apples, but not to those who don't, apples to oranges. As far as the cost, they live in Little Rocky Run, upper middle class neighborhood with homes 2800 square feet and up, various conditions of houses built in the lates 80's. Condition plays into a price as weel, the more cared for property will get a lower rate than a home that is not cared for and will require more time to get it to be near their expectations. We are priced very fairly for the market this customer lives in. We provide all cleaning products, vacuums, towels etc. All employees are fully bonded and insured, we take care of all employee payroll taxes, we have a business license in Fairfax County. All that and sending a staff of 2 cleaners and a quality person half the visits for $98 is more than fair. If you are a business in this area, you have the option of hiring a professional company like ours that goes thru the letter of the law as far as paying taxes for my company as well as employee payroll taxes and license fees, we provide all material. The other option is hiring an independent that is not paying taxes, does not supply materials, has no license and most times no insurance, BUT is $20 cheaper, this causes people to state we are priced high. Ideally they want all we give and the lower price, it cannot work that way. You get what you pay for. We clean 400+ houses a week, I feel good that there are only 2 complaints on here in the past 8 years, we opened in 2003 so although it states a "D", keep in mind that this site charges people a membership fee to be able to leave a grade. It is a forum for those who may be disgruntled at most services they have, they expect house cleaning to be cheap and the provide extensive work scope without any mistakes. It is that and nothing more, a forum for people to complain. These accusations are never investigated by Angies list, members can right what ever they want and it is posted. I can respond but damage is then done, whether true or not, fair or not, posted for you to read. We are human, we make mistakes, but when we do we call you right back, we stand behind our agreement. Unfortunately, some are extremely hard to please and very judgemental, it becomes about what they expected, not what was agreed to or delivering a promise the best you can. You simply can't please everyone, and Angies list provides a forum for those people. Now it is up to you to judge. Keep in mind, only 2 complaints on here in 9 years, the happy customers are happy, they are not likely to waste time writing their good experiences, especially if they have to pay a fee to do it. We cleaned over 18,000 homes last year, one complained and made accusations that I have detailed notes of we tried to help with her issue. Nothing I can do but respond and ask that people who come here realize it is a forum for complaining. Check the Better Business Bureau records as well, they have an investigation process and are involved, I have had complaints that went to them, all were handled and all were posted as "Resolved". Not here, write what ever and it is posted, the person looking for a valuable opinion is not getting the whole truth here, as far as "fairly representing both sides" I don't see that, a nasty complaint is posted, they tell me it has been posted and I can defend myself as best I can. They should be investigating the truthfulness of accusations, they do not, they state "we rely on the accuracy of the information" . That is what makes it a forum, they are opinions, not all truths. I hope they at least let me response stay on here, I did not mention the customer by name and used fair and appropriate language as they ask. Thanks for reading, we would love to have your business. We had a bit of email connection with them trying to figure out the possible different time frames to do the house cleaning and they were very responsive to my emails and all my different questions. Then I asked them for the quote and they took a lot of time with me. In the end we ended up using them for one time clean just to see how it went. Then we were going to decide whether we want to go and use them on a regular basis. The one time clean they did was excellent and we still haven’t decided what we wanted to do or whether we want to do more frequent. They had three ladies come out and they spent every three hours in our house. Our house is a fairly large house and they did very nice detailed work. I was very pleased with their work.
Description of Work: I used Cleaning Authority for cleaning. The last time I used them was on the 1st of July for one time cleaning.

Cleaning Authority is very easy to work with in terms of scheduling. If we ever need to cancel or reschedule they are very responsive. If there is something that they do that I don't like they will adjust their work to meet my needs.

For the 1st cleaning I was present when they arrived but left soon after. When I returned I noticed some details that had been missed. At the 2nd cleaning I mentioned what had been missed on the 1st cleaning. Again, I left and when I returned, I noted that while they cleaned the areas missed the 1st time, there were items on the rotation area slip left undone. Disappointed, I called and spoke with the Operations Manager. I was stunned by her response. There was no apology, she made statements such as: "We clean over 60 houses a day and no one's complained of this many things", and "No one is going to clean your house like you do". The team and a supervisor, who, by the way, was very polite and apologetic, returned the next day and completed the cleaning. Although the general cleaning was OK, the detailed cleaning continued to lack thoroughness during subsequent visits. Additionally there seemed to be very little concern whether I was satisfied with their services or not.
Description of Work: The company utilizes a "Detail-Clean Rotation System". The 1st clean involves an in-depth cleaning of the kitchen and bathrooms and a general clean of all other areas. The 2nd clean is an in-depth of all other areas and general clean of the kitchen and baths. The 2 initial cleanings cost $150 each, then the rotation system begins. The 4 areas of rotation include: 1) Kitchen/eating areas, 2) Sleeping areas, 3)Bath areas, 4) Living areas; a general clean of all other areas. Each time they clean, they provide an "Area of Rotation Slip", which details the in-depth cleaning performed and what area would be done the next time. I liked the system and thought I would be quite satisfied. Unfortunately, this was not the case. Regardless of what was listed on the slip, a number of the detailed items continued to be missed. A call to complain had proven to be an unpleasant experience. When I decided to stop their services, no effort was made to resolve issues or any dissatisfaction.

The customer here acts as if there was one call, she would go over the house with a white glove and call in every little spec. The house cluttered, small and full of contents that makes the work area impossible to hit everything. We went there five times and she complained 3 of those visits. The comment to her that nobody cleans your house the same as you is a true and tried statement, everybody has different expectations, not every person out there can have there extremely high expectations met, wheter a cleaning company, car wash, restaurant there is a group of the public that can't be satified. This customer was that such. We have over 700 current customer, have been in business since Aug 2003 and yet only have this one complaint here. She was a valued customer but at some point it is better for both parties to terimate the arrangement because she will never be happy. She would with hold the payment and not let the girls leave till she had gone over the entire house, really wanted close to perfection and in an older clutterd house we can only clean, not restore. Her comments here are really grossly exagerated, again if we were this bad there wpould be more than one bad report here. The person that reffered her is still a customer and has been for 4 years with no complaints. Her quotes are a very small part of the phone conversations, we went to great detail to make her happy, she just has expectations that can't be achieved in the time we can spend there for the fee we recieved.
