Great! In July 2015, L&B Universal replaced my 10 year Carrier A/C and Furnace with a Trane A/C XLI18I and Trane XV80. I was very skeptical of dealing with L&B only because I viewed them as a small business and their price was $2000 or more cheaper than competition. I did my research and ultimately selected L&B after reviewing four offers. My neighbor also provided a referral. Alex came out inspected my old system, explained all the components, and advised me on a range of options/price. While working sales,Alex was an experience installer and was very patient in working through the options to find a system that met my needs for a great price. The installation went great and systems looked great. The fit and finish are first class. Max Lee and other installation team members (Jordon, Kuang) did a great job. They cleaned-up all debris, wore carpet protectors, and explained operations of the system. Alex came by several times to make sure everything was going well. The new Trane thermostat is great and accessible from your smartphone. I hated my AC breaking down and all the other repair companies. But, L&B made me a great offer, did an outstanding job,at a great price. Thanks Alex Jo.

L & B Universal replaced my home AC & Furnace in July 2013; and I was so pleased with the initial price and no cost maintenance for the past two years, that I again called L & B this morning and requested an estimate at my son's condo. I had a choice of two service appointments today and Alex arrived in less than 2 hours. The AC fan still worked, but the compressor would not "kick-in." Alex quickly identified the problem as a switch that shut off the compressor when the drain became blocked. Alex used his "magic" cleaning brushes and drainage cleaning solution to resolve the problem and he was done in 35 minutes. L & B deserves a rating of 11, on a 1 to 10 scale.... and Alex could have convinced me the compressor needed replacement on an AC unit that was new in 2004 and had no maintenance except for air filter replacements. It's hard to find an HONEST technician in the DC area, but L & B is one of the few....I know because you can view my terrible rating of Koons Tysons Toyota (March 2015), where they attempted to charge me over $3,500 in repairs for an inspection sticker that cost me $69 repairs at another large repair facility.

We were replacing our 11 year old builder quality units, that were still functional, but we didn't feel were effectively doing the job. We were looking for high quality brands, at a reasonable price, from a company that would stand behind the products they sold. After a complete study of a half dozen companies, we selected L&B Universal in Chantilly, VA as our supplier. Alex Jo (703) 618-4822 was our sales representative and lead installer. We selected Carrier Infinity Series, two stage systems (Air Conditioner and Furnace) with Touch Screen Wi-Fi Thermostat plus an Aprilaire Model 700 Humidifier, and a Bradford White 50 Gallon Natural Gas Hot Water Heater with expansion tank and drain pan. We did not select the high efficiency models, because we felt the additional increase in cost (at our age) was not worth the investment. On installation day, 4 trucks and workers led by Alex Jo arrived at 8:00 AM (as scheduled), and the job was fully completed by 3:30 PM. All old products were removed and disposed of, and the new equipment was fully installed and operational. Alex supervised and assisted in the installation, and actually assisted me and my wife in fully understanding all the features of the Wi-Fi Thermostat. The installation went smoothly, and in a neat, clean and professional manner. We have used the full system for the past 9 months, and feel confident in writing this report. We would like to let everyone know that we are 100% satisfied with L&B Universal and the products we have selected. And the best part of our recommendation is yet to come..............from a price comparison standpoint, L&B Universal was a good 20-30% less expensive (and in our case $2,000.00 less) than the other 5 major contractors that gave us proposals............and let me add, these price quotations were all on EXACTLY THE SAME BRANDS, MAKES AND MODEL PRODUCTS. We highly recommend L&B Universal (and Alex Jo) to any of our friends and neighbors at Heritage Hunt who are looking for a professional, cost effective solution to their heating and air conditioning needs. IT was great. He drove to the furnace part shop (I'm not exactly where) was back that afternoon to replace it. I think we went less than a day without heat.

Called L&B for an estimate and a gentleman named Alex showed up. We had been through four pervious estimates, and even though Alex looks young, within five minutes I could tell he knew exactly what he was doing. We had a complicated job because we needed to move the outside part of the unit to a different location, which would require different plumbing and going through the brick on the outside of the house. Even with all of that, L&B was at least $1,000 cheaper than anyone else. We can't say enough about what a fantastic job they did, and they even spotted a potential water leak during the job which they repaired at no charge. I was worried about going through the brick, but they punched a clean hole through it for the new plumbing. They kept everything pretty clean during the job and when the job was complete, they cleaned everything up. Don't let their lower prices fool you - these folks are the real deal and will do a fantastic job. We also had them install a passive humidifier (again cheaper than anyone else for this option by several hundred dollars), and a new water heater (we supplied a Rheem model, but they installed). Since the installation, I have had a couple of follow-up questions about the humidity settings, and they have always returned my calls. We are super pleased with the Carrier system and highly recommend Alex at L&B Universal. BTW - it was worth the extra dollars for a variable speed blower and the humidifier which virtually eliminated winter dry skin problems!

Amazing. We purchased our home a year ago and we wanted to be sure everything was working correctly. The technician was so friendly and took the time to explain everything to me. He pointed everything out to me that I needed to look out for in the future.

Showed up on time, thoroughly explained how our AC unit was performing, and did some minor maintenance. Was extremely helpful, honest, and professional. Most definitely plan to use this provider in the future.

I was kind of disappointed because I am use to the companies doing the heating and a/c at the same time, but they only did the furnace tune-up, which makes it more expensive. He only did the gas heat but that seems to be common when looking at other companies on Angie’s List. He was very professional and helpful. He confirmed what I had heard from another repair man. It was a good experience overall.

They were prompt, courteous, did a great job on the furnace, charged what they advertised, and didn't try to sell us a bunch of other things. Outstanding service - we'll call them again.

We had two providers come to our house and the first one said we had to replace our entire furnace and a/c system, which would have been thousands of dollars. We decided we needed another opinion and came across L&B Universal. Their technician Enrique came and told us we just needed to replace a part! We were floored at how dishonest the other contractor was and thankful that this company was honest and straightforward. Enrique was able to diagnose the problem and purchase the part we needed the same day. He installed the part and stayed to make sure everything was working. He was very professional and a pleasure to deal with. When it comes to furnaces and A/C we will be calling L&B Universal again.

The weather on the install day could not have been worse, cold and snowy, but the crew arrived on time and they finished by 4:00. They were very professional and courteous, no complaints what-so-ever. Their price for this complete system was very competitive, beating two other contractors by a wide margin and they have a better warranty, 5 years labor, than the other two offered. Also, the young man who came to my house and gave me the estimate seemed to really know his stuff, no salesman BS which I really appreciated. I highly recommend this firm for a complete system redo. If I ever need a service call, I'll pass on how they do with that sort of work too. Today, sitting in my cozy, warm house, I could not be happier.

Perhaps because these guys are heavily involved with commercial and industrial refrigeration - however, of all the others out there, only L&B was able to perform the necessary operations, equipment and expertise to extend the cooling lines for our two residential AC condenser units. The work required specialized brazing using inert gases. While some of the other HVAC certified contractors "heard" of the procedure, only L&B was able to perform without blinking an eye. These guys are genuine HVAC experts. Also, L&B prices were reasonable. Their guys are experts and Enrique coordinated and scheduled all with great skill. I recommend L&B without any hesitation.

Enrique was meticulous! He was also professional and through. After having two other contractors conduct the same review and getting 180 degree assessments of the furnace safety I was completely comfortable with the system after Enrique drew diagrams and took time to explain that the unit was fine!

The technician was very respectful and courteous. As soon as we told him our issue he figured what the problem was. Our house was not heating at all on the second floor. He was experienced and knew what had to be done. As soon as we set our temp upstairs started heating up. We were glad to be able to use the setting at 76F. It used to be at almost 80F and still be cold upstairs. We are so glad to have him come out. Will definitely save their number and call in the future for any other issues we might have.

He came on the time arranged, very polite, very knowledgeable and he did all the checks. Then he gave me suggestions on options for replacing my A/C. I like the fact that he wasn't pushy about selling their services - very professional. I was convinced he knew what he was talking about.

i solicited three estimates -- l/b and two of its highly rated competitors. during the solicitation, l/b was very responsive and was able to schedule a free estimate very quickly. during the initial consultation, alex was very professional -- even went so far as to wear shoe covers when he walked in the house -- and explained his entire process. he then informed me he'd have his estimates to me within shortly, which he did. i decided i would go with l/b because they offered the best deal. i also found a 10% off coupon (max $500) on angie's list, which i informed l/b i wanted to use. this caused some confusion because they understood that the 10% off deal had been removed. they realized there had been some technical error but agreed to honor the coupon. as a result of the coupon, not only did l/b offer the best deal (by a large margin), they offered really great financing (0% interest for 12 months, no fees). on the day of service, the technicians arrived on time and worked steadily. the entire job took about 5 hours. the new heat pump works great and is so much more efficient than the previous unit. i'm very happy with l/b's work, and i would gladly use them again.

The team was on time, properly staffed in number and skills and focused on their task. They solved the problems that inevitably arise and left the site clean. The estimate was completed on a Saturday and the work was performed the following Monday in order to beat out the demolition crew. While the price seemed a little steep at first, given the expedited nature of the work and the long day the team put in, by my calculations, they were a bargain.

Really outstanding. Our technician (Enrique) was very knowledgeable, friendly and informative. Did a really great job, pointed out things we should keep an eye on (no pressure to purchase additional services) and taught this new homeowner a lot about our system. Will definitely be using them again.

I called L&B on 9/15 around noon and asked if they could give me an estimate. The estimator (Alex) was here later that day, and provided a written estimate for a new high efficiency furnace and AC. Best estimate by far among three and the other two contractors' estimates were based on essentially the same or lesser models. The next day, the crew arrived on time at 8am and were here until 4pm. The guys were clean and professional, took off their shoes when entering the house. Installation went flawlessly and they did a beautiful job. They cleaned up everything when they were done. Alex even offered to register the items with Carrier for me. Got a 2 years service agreement (service is twice a year) and 5 years on labor from L&B. I was shown how to operate the touch pad color thermostat which is easy to use. Very pleased with L&B and would use again and would recommend this firm for top notch products and service.

They were fabulous and were very pleased with them. The A/C has not worked this well since and they added refrigerant. They got the job done in about one hour. They were very prompt with the scheduling. The technician advised us to future problems without trying to pressure us into a sale which I appreciated. He was very trustworthy.

Great experience. I had found them on Angie's List and compared their price against Costco's A/C services. I found they were faster and cheaper than Costco. They were even willing to install a temporary evaporating unit until the parts they needed came in. They had the whole thing installed two days later. They were fast, effective and a great value for the price.
