Levanair Heating & Air Conditioning

Everything went fine. They arrived on time, cleaned the furnace, no extra cost involved.

Went great. Very fast, and prompt.

Provider came to do maintenance on the heater system. Technician went on to tell me I should get a new igniter switch since my current one was over two years old even though it was working without issues. He also said it was not installed correctly. However, I later saw a sticker on the unit (when the next comapny came out - see below) showing it was installed exactly how it should be.. The new one would cost $150. He also stated that the inducer motor was bad as it was warm to the touch and the heat exchanger had holes in it and would leak CO into the house. He went upstairs and held his CO detector over one of the vents and told me he was getting a reading of 3 -4 on it which meant it was leaking and it was not good. He went to another vent and got a reading of 0. He said it was because that vent was further away than the other one from the unit. He said he could not have the unit pass inspection since he was getting a reading on it leaking CO. He said that I needed to replace the heat exchanger and if I went with them and made a decision today or tomorrow they could do all the needed work, including replacing a vent pipe which he said was corroding thru. When I rubbed the spot he was telling me about the spot rubbed right off. No more discoloration. I have a Home Owner Warranty so I told him I would not have any work without going through them. Of course, he continued the "we will get you a good deal of $3200 if you go with us today." I called my warranty company, had someone come out that evening to check CO leak and figure out replacements needed. They found nothing in regards to CO. They checked all around the unit and several of the vents in the house, including the one that the Levenair guy told me was indicating CO. They detected nothing. I have CO detectors in the house, but I also have a portable one. I moved that on to the area that it was detected by Levanair. To this day, no indication. That same evening, my heater quit working. The next day the warranty guys came back. They discovered the igniter switch was loose so it was not igniting. I also asked them about the inducer motor. They said it was working just fine and had no issues.Lastly, I asked them to do one final check to confirm that it was not leaking CO. They did and once again found no reading at all. Strange coincidence with the unit to stop working that evening after Levanair came out to service it or something else??? I think something else. Sorry Levanair, but you have lost my confidence in your company.

The humidifier was installed, but unfortunately the unit was defective and Levanair came out and removed the unit and refunded our money.

The install went great. Jorge arrived on time and called to let me know he was on the way. This was a day when we got four inches of snow and Federal offices and schools were closed. He was very polite and wore shoe covers so he would not mess up the floor. I would definitely use him again in the future.

I found a perfect inexpensive disconnect box at Home Depot that has two fuses that you buy separately. It is usually used outdoors near air conditioner units, but will be fine inside. Here is the description of the disconnect box and fuses: The Eaton Cutler-Hammer 30 Amp 120/240-Volt, 7,200-Watt Fused Air Conditioner Disconnect provides a visible disconnection when performing maintenance. This easy-to-install disconnect is enclosed in a galvanized steel case for reliable outdoor protection. It offers UL and CSA listings and is ANSI certified for safety. Even though the breaker box is rated to 30 AMPS, you want to use 20 AMP fuses. The fuses that I bought were FRN Series 20 Amp Brass Time-Delay Cartridge Fuses (2-Pack). The total for materials for the box and fuses was a little over $25. Jorge Levano is a pro and he knows the Aprilaire 800 Automatic Whole-house Steam Humidifier with Digital Control system extremely well. He is very meticulous and takes his time to do the work right. You will need a cold water source, which will be the means for the humidifier to create steam. In my case, he tapped into a cold water pipe that fed into my hot water heater. You will need to buy a replacement canister that goes in the Aprilaire unit, probably only once a year, but depending upon usage. You can buy it at Amazon for about $60.

It's better than I expected

It worked out very well. They were on time and went out of their way to be helpful. I used them a couple of weeks after that. They were thorough.

Although they could not install the unit, my dealings with them were great. They were very nice and prompt. He tried eveything possible to get it to work but could not. If I had the opportunity I would definitely work with them in the future.

Scheduling was fine and they arrived on time. The technician did a good job and was very thorough. He completed the tune up and cleaned the outside unit. The job was completed in about an hour. Our experience with them was good.

Off of Angie's list, sent Levanair a message then called their 571 number and left a voicemail - they called back within 30 minutes and confirmed an appointment at 1130 (they do not work on Sunday afternoons) - problem was that the downstairs was not getting heat - Jorge looked at the furnace and noticed that the flame started but did not sustain - he removed and cleaned off a needle sized sensor with light sand paper, turned it on, and the flame stayed on. Sunday service call was $250. I asked about maintenance programs - he informed that for $256 per unit (I have 2), with a 20% discount on the second unit - per year - will cover all heat/AC maintenance. Prompt, courteous, very knowledgeable, and not afraid to explain everything in my terms. I will use this vendor again and plan on engaging them for annual maintenance.

Great, he was honest and told me up front that although humidifier would help but it won't be that effective in my house. I went and got it anyways.

The system they were going to install would not improve our current system. Informed us replacement wasn't necessary.

On one of the coldest nights of the year, my furnace started acting up. Watching the temperature in my house drop a degree or two every 5 minutes had me in a state of panic, so I called Levanair for "emergency" service. Jorge answered and was very polite. He explained the charge for emergency visits and told me that he could come out the next morning for a regular visit charge. But we decided to bite the bullet and go with the more expensive option. We figured we would be forking over much more than the $250....but when Jorge arrived, he knew right away what the problem was, fixed it in about 5 minutes and was on his way. No additional charges. Yes, my wallet is $250 lighter, but my house warmed up and I slept through the night knowing that I wouldn't have a frozen pipe or worse to deal with. Jorge was great. I will definitely use his services again.

They were very responsive, however when I further inspected my unit I fixed it myself and no longer need the deal.

Tech explained the unit and function very well. He was courteous and very professional. Excellent service.

He did come today and said that the humidifier I purchased cannot be installed in the heating unit that I have. He was timely, professional, and very informative.

It went well. They were very knowledgeable and took a lot of effort on educating us on how the systems worked; we were able to make a good decision on how to best replace our HVAC system. They really didn't pressure us to purchase the system -- they allowed us to make the decision without harassment.

The deal was for a new gas heating furnace. Upon communicating with the company it was discovered that I need a gas boiler heating furnace and the deal was for a forced air only. Also, the company does not work on boilers at all so the deal can't be applied as a credit.

I bought the $35 service call from Angie's list. He went there and found out the issue was because the filter was stuck. He replaced it and charged me additional $150. I was at work and when he called me to authorize the $150 charge, I forgot to ask him to credit the $35 toward the $150 charge, which is what most of the service providers do. I would expect him to know and horror that.

It went well. He found a couple things that were done incorrectly the last time. Fair price.

In short, absolutely excellent service. I arrived home last night to discover that my AC had stopped working so called Levanair because they had installed a whole house humidifier for me several months ago and I liked their work. They scheduled my appointment for today, took information about the possible issue affecting the AC and gave me an estimate if there assumptions proved correct. The technician arrived on time (even called me when he was en route so I wouldn't have to sit home waiting all day). He was professional and polite. He checked the part that he thought might be broken and showed me the damage. Replaced the part and ran a system test. Also replaced the freon valves which were old. Voila! Cold air returns! I really appreciate that he showed me the damaged part and more importantly that he didn't try to sell me a new unit that I don't need. I would absolutely use them again.

It was great. The guy went over everything and helped me know more about my house. He was on time.
