The company representaive was very professional and prompt to scheduled estimate date and time. In the end, I decided to go with another company but would consider using this company for future fence/decking projects.

Incredibly well-Paulo was highly responsive and I got a quote immediately. We had everything done in one day a couple of weeks later and it looks beautiful. They were professional, careful of my garden, precise and cleaned up everything. Couldn't be more pleased.

no complaint here, only that they do not perform any work in the district... should be mentioned somewhere to save the phone call...

JP Concrete did a professional job all around. Paulo came out promptly to give me an estimate, which was considerably less expensive and with a shorter lead time than another contractor I contacted. I was kept informed of when my job would be performed, and when it had to be postponed because of weather it was rescheduled in a very timely fashion. The work was well done as was the cleanup after the job was finished.

Initial consultation with Paulo was great. Communication after the initial consultation was a bit slow, but understandable given the spring rush and weather constraints. Quoted price was good. After I sent in the deposit it took about 2 weeks before I heard back from the Paulo to schedule the appointment. It took 2-3 attempts before we were able to find an opening that worked; all in all it took about a month from consultation until installation. During the consultation I expressed an interest in getting as close to our fence line as possible. I was told they would used 1x4 to frame the driveway to minimize the gap but on installation day they only brought 2x4. They also used 2x4 posts to hold the frame in place so the final product had a 3.5in gap between the concrete and the fence line, which I was a little disappointed with. Other than that everything else looked good; just a little overflow around the corners of the frame but I was able to clean that up with a small chisel. It took 2 days to complete the installation due to a rain delay on day 1; crew was professional and showed up on time both days. Was told there would be a final inspection about a week after the installation to make sure everything was good, but Paulo had to cancel our first attempt. Rather than reschedule he sent a representative the following day to pick up the remainder of the balance due, so no final inspection was ever done (which is noteworthy because no representative from JP was on site during the second day of the installation, when the concrete was actually poured, leading me to question the quality). All in all I was happy with the product for the cost, but given the communication challenges, the failure to bring the requested wood width for framing, and the lack of final inspection, I can only give a B rating. I would consider using JP again but I would make sure to include every requested detail in the agreement before submitting a deposit. That was rookie mistake on my part.

I contacted JP Companies Inc for an estimate/quote for brick/stone patio and walkway work. I contacted and scheduled an appointment for estimate. Paulo contacted me the day before appointment to remind me of the appointment. Paulo arrived on time and I described that I wanted to redo and expand my patio, install a new brick walkway and planting wall. Paulo was very friendly, personable and knowledgeable. He was able to show me examples of completed work. I definitely would contact and hopefully work with them on future projects.

We contacted JP Companies after a different contractor had dropped the ball; and it turned out --- that was a good thing for us. Paulo Nicolau came to our house, and as he walked around our back yard, he seemed to be able to visualize the new, finished patio and walls. He designed a beautiful patio with both stacked stone walls and brick walls; and steps up to a higher elevation in our yard. The estimated price was very reasonable. JP Companies was able to start on our project within a short time. Once work began, we were impressed with the JP crew. Those guys had our old patio demolished and a gorgeous new one poured in one day. Then, the real fun began---the J&P masons built two beautiful seating walls for us to enclose the patio and some flower beds. Then they created a nice flagstone walkway from our backyard to the driveway. We are impressed with JP?s workmanship --- and their speed. Start to finish? four days. In addition to installing beautiful walls and a gorgeous patio, the crew cleaned up every bit of debris from our old patio and carted it away. Then they cleaned everything. The two walls look absolutely beautiful We are thrilled with the results. We?d hire Paulo Nicolau, JP Companies and their crew again---they certainly provided us with a great value. We highly recommend JP Companies. (THANK YOU JP Companies!!!)

The estimate was easy to arrange and the estimator was prompt. When I contracted with the company and the workers arrived they were courteous, prompt and cleaned up nicely. The crew said they would make a slight slope, very small, but enough for any rain to drain away from the house and down a sloped drive. Unfortunately, there is one section in the middle near an existing post where the slope does not exist and after rain a small puddle exists. The puddle is not enough to cause a problem but enough to notice where some water has collected. Otherwise they did a good job. I waited a year after the work was completed to make this review so I could see how well the job looked one year later. And . . . .it still looks great!

This profile should be changed. When I called today, I was told that they don't serve the DC area. So, DC residents -- don't bother to call.

Company looked great on Angie's List. Called and got a date for estimate to evaluate options on a concrete driveway with cracks and grading issue. Paulo came early. Very courteous and professional. Not pushy. Discussed 2 options and then asked about back flagstone patio which has many loose/damage stones. Some snow on the ground so Paulo encouraged me to call him once it melted and he'd come back for a formal estimate. Paulo emailed a detailed estimate as promised several days later. Wife was excited to hear they could do the back patio (which we weren't even thinking about initially) so I emailed Paulo to set up an estimate for that as he had recommended. No response. Called and left him a message. No response. Called the company's main phone and left message. No response. Glad this company has worked out for many reviewers and sorry we won't have the opportunity to benefit from what sounds like good quality work. First impressions are key and the company made a good one. But, you are always remembered by your last worst act and telling someone to call you for a follow up estimate and then completely ignoring repeated attempts by a customer to contact you is a total fail. We'll be using another company.

They did a great job. From the initial estimation appointment through the day of the work everyone was extremely professional. They carefully documented the work that would be performed and followed through exceeding our expectation. The entire crew was extremely hardworking starting earlier in the morning and working into the evening to complete the job in one day. They did not rush anything and one can tell they knew what they were doing. The new driveway and brick sidewalk work looks great!

Outstanding. Scope of work: The house had been left with damage from the previous owners. They apparently had a deck that they had cantilevered in to the house. When they took the deck down they hacked it off and left holes in the side of the house. So there was a step out from the double doors in the dining room that would be a one story drop to the patio, but just under that door there was damage to the door's threshold and to the brick on the side of the house underneath it. Furthermore the previous owner had four dog runs coming out of the attached garage, with sliding metal doors. Those doors were ugly and potentially a security hazard. The openings were large enough that if they were bricked in with new brick they would be an obvious repair. I had just replaced the broken garage doors with new ones, but the new ones had no windows, so I decided to adjust the openings on the side of the garage and brick in part of it and then fill the rest in with glass block so there would be some natural light in the garage but it would still be secure. The chimney brick had started spalling, badly enough that I did not think tuckpointing would be adequate, and it would be a costly interim repair. It made more sense to rebuild the chimney from the roofline up. What JP did: JP did a very good job matching the brick. The house was built in 1969, so I knew that the brick wouldn't be an exact match, but they got close. When the chimney came down they used the original brick to fill in the areas of damage left by the previous owner from where the deck had been, and the new brick was used on the chimney. They repaired the damage to the threshold and then did a decorative sill to match the window openings. We had good communication about the glass block to install, and how to handle the pre-existing holes in the side of the garage -- we ultimately bricked up the holes so they were square and then put in the glass block. They toothed in the brick for both the repairs and for the area around the glass block to ensure that it looked like it was original rather than a repair. Very nice work, very good price. The cleanup was really good as well.

Paulo came out and gave us a quote of $8 a square foot for a new concrete driveway and apron as well as replacement of our old, crumbling concrete walkway and 3 steps leading up to our front porch. The entire job was estimated at approximately $7300 which was a better quote than what I had received from another company. After waiting for the weather to cooperate we were scheduled for a 1-2 day installation. They arrived on time and we reviewed the design one again before they began work. Paulo answered all of my questions. While they were working I called Paulo and asked if they would remove a small tree near the driveway and a sinking concrete slab at our backdoor. He e-mailed me an estimate of $250 for both additions to the contract, which I accepted. By the time I returned home that afternoon they were finishing up the entire job. Everything turned out perfectly. They came back the next day to finish cleaning up and use a jack hammer to remove the concrete slab. While they were working, my parents, who live nearby, came over to watch. They were so impressed that they asked Paulo to stop by their house for an estimate and had JP Companies install a concrete driveway for their house as well. After the work was all done at our house, Paulo again met with us to confirm everything was the way we wanted it; he also answered my questions about how we could keep the concrete in good condition. We are very happy.

The workmen arrived when they said they would and quickly removed the old concrete steps. They backfilled the the excavation, drilled rebar ties into the foundation, replaced the skirt board, then formed and poured the steps. They were extremely particular about making the steps drain away from the house - a definite improvement on the old steps. When they were done they cleaned up and reset the pavers in the slate walkway leading to the new steps so it was hard to believe that they had been moved during the work. Rain and ice were not problems over the winter, either, since the steps drain so well. We are very happy with the result - the new steps work very well and look terrific.

Estimate was almost 2.5 times as much as we ended up paying a contractor from PA who was recommended by our builder. Overall the company came across as very professional and easy to work with, but expensive. Paulo was a few minutes late but called to let me know, which is pretty rare for a contractor and much appreciated. He was polite, friendly, and knowledgeable. He emailed a detailed quote within a few days as promised, which I have also found to be very rare.

Paulo arrived to perform the estimate when he said he would. Explained what needed to be done, measured and provided a price quote. Paulo provided a design and suggested pavers. His choices were excellent. JP uses it's own crew, and Paulo's father Nick supervised the work. They stayed with the project until it was completed in 4 consecutive days. We requested a change in design of the steps during construction and they accommodated without question. They also wend above and beyond. although not mentioned in the contract, JP installed drainage from two downspouts under the patio rather than have them empty onto the patio. They also straightened a fence post and reversed the direction of the entry gate due to the patio design. His crew cleaned up after each day's work. I intend to have them back to do more stone work on our front porch steps.

Their service was good. They did an excellent job. They were great. They asked questions to make sure that what they were doing is exactly what I wanted them to do. They worked pretty fast too. The price is reasonable as I remember it. They were delayed because of he weather.

He took over after another contractor quit. I was left with a big mud hole for months. Paolo was very professional and got the driveway completed on time and we are enjoying it now. I expect to use him for other projects in the future.

Wonderful. Paulo was very responsive to our original request for a quote and worked very well with the landscape architect we had previously hired. It should be noted we hired the architect previous to reaching out to JP because we wanted to be sure our drainage problems were addressed. The construction process was quick and worked with me on any changes to plan. It looks beautiful!!!

The brick staircase leading into my townhouse had started to pull away from the front of the house. I contacted JP Companies and Paulo contacted me and came out to take a look. I thought that the entire staircase would have to be replaced, but Paulo let me know that all we had to do was replace the concrete slab (it was the furthest away from the house and most likely the cause of the problem) and his guys could tie the bricks back in. Paulo also recommended that we fill in the interior of the staircase (it was hollow) to support the new concrete steps and use rebar to tie it into the house so that this doesn't happen again. I also asked him to add a stacked stone wall around the flower bed in front of the house as the old plastic retaining system I had put in was not in good shape. He turned around a quote in a couple of days and we put the project on his schedule. His estimated start date was just about spot on. During the project, he clearly communicated what was going on and with the exception of concrete/mortar drying time his crew was here full time. The end result is totally repaired front staircase that's solidly tied into the house and a nice stacked stone wall around the flower bed. The project came in on budget and they also did a good job of cleaning up after themselves. I couldn't be happier with the results. Paulo and JP Companies are professionals that do quality work. I highly recommend them.

10 minutes later he called back and after a lot of hemming and hawing he finally said he'd send someone to look at it. He wan't freiendly or helpful at all so I politely told him that I've decided not to use him and he got nasty so I had to hang up the phone. I know we all have bad days but come on!

We used JP companies to build an approximate 12' x 23' garage foundation that comprised a 36 inch deep excavation with a construction of a footer, foundation wall, 16 inch above ground stem wall and a concrete slab. Work also included demolishing an existing garage cement foundation and completely excavating the site. JP companies worked through and fixed numerous unforeseen complications during the project. Overall the quality of their end product was excellent. The slab and the foundation walls/stem walls were constructed level and nearly perfect to build the garage framing on. They met or exceeded every aspect of the contract, including adding in some real value added work that I had not thought of. They finished the job by waterproofing the exterior walls, regrading the dirt around the site, and leaving the area much much better than they found it. The work was all inspected by the local county (I believe 3 or 4 separate inspections) and approved. The crew was also extremely professional and hard-working. When I pointed out potential issues, they addressed them right away. I also felt they went out of their way to minimize the impact on our property, such as making sure nearby trees were unharmed. I highly recommend JP Companies and would definitely use them again.

It went according to the plan. We researched and talked to few other contractors. Paulo gave us a clear, well written contract and was able to quickly respond to our follow up questions. It was the best value choice for us. Once we signed the contract, he shared his schedule with us. They showed up on time. Paulo was there in the morning. He walked us through the plan. His team started the work and finished everything in one day. I would highly recommend Paulo and his team. We have plans to work with them in the feature for getting our backyard in order.

I don't know how this could have gone better. From the first phone call, Paulo was very responsive and got back to me the same day. He met me at the agreed upon time and listened to what I had to say. This included my concerns about budget. We talked about several different options, the cost for each, and what each would entail. I ultimately decided to replace the entire driveway, stoop, and walkway at a third less than another bid I received from another company last year. The crew showed up at the appointed day and time and had everything done in a day. They were very careful to preserve flowers, plants, and bricks and left the space in pristine condition. I contacted Paulo that evening about a minor concern I had. The crew showed up the next morning, took care of the concern, AND graded the yard where I had them pull out a bush. The crew was polite, hardworking, and professional. I would definitely use them again and recommend them to friends.

I was very pleased with the job. They were punctual, responsive, and professional. Job was done within the anticipated time frame.
