They showed up on time and finished earlier than I expected. Our house was built in 1986 with not enough power outlets in the garage. Not even capable of installing garage door openers. We wanted to also hook up a spare fridge and have some outlets for power tools / lawn equipment, etc. They had to cut open some drywall to make this happen, but they were very neat about it and we will patch that on our own. They have an outsourced service for those repairs, but we are choosing to to use it. Everything works and looks great. For a much lower price than another competitors quote.

It did not go well- the electrician never showed up nor did the company call to let me know he was delayed. I stayed home from work waiting by the front door getting more and more upset. I called the company and the person who answered told me that the electrician was on their way there. The address of this company is quite near my residence so when the electrician still didn't show up 30 minutes later (nor call), I knew they had blown me off. I feel that this company, an Angie's A lister, treated me and my time very unprofessionally and disrespectfully. I would not recommend them to anyone who values their time.
Description of Work: The electrician was supposed to come first thing in the morning, 8:00 a.m., to give me an estimate for extensive work I needed done in my home. I was told I would be charged $49.00 for this estimate which would be credited back to me if I decided to use this company. This concerned me a little since many of Angie's list companies give free estimates, but I was desperate to get an electrician out to my house as soon as possible.

Purchased a Big Deal for $99 for $200 of electrical work for my tenant. For the first scheduled appointment, Walls did not show up and did not call and my tenant was very upset since she had taken the day off. She eventually re-scheduled and we were charged a total of $354 for the electrician to reset the breaker switch for 5 nonworking electrical outlets and replace one light switch. Wow - even though I was not personally there, I cannot imagine this taking more than 15 minutes - so the price of $354 is highway robbery. Honestly, the electrician essentially flipped the breaker switch - that is real electrical expertise. So the Big Deal is only a marketing methodology employed by Walls to obtain business and then gouge the customer - do NOT use this company!

Response from Walls Electrical Service Inc
Actually the information by this customer is incorrect. Maybe she should have been there or involved at all mabey she would then have her facts correct. I personally spoke to the renter and attempted to help her over the phone as it occurred to me that the breaker may have been tripped. When she called, she was to be giving me a call back once the homeowner approved of the appointment. which she did, so I take responsibility for the missed appointment. We are not an automated scheduling business so we do have human errors which some people have no tolerance for. We are glad the renter called us back a second time so clearly she wasn't that upset. Since the statement by the homeowner was exaggerated so much; I am not surprised she stated her renter was upset. That being said, the homeowner may want to know she paid 134.00 not 354.00 as she stated. No company works for free these days. She paid the 99.00 and 134.00 so her math is a bit off. I'm sorry, but had she cared to take the time to shop rates she may have found that is a great price. It looks as though she would rather spend her time bashing companies that she wasn't actually involved with until it came time to pay the bill.

All ofthe work was done as expected. I'm very pleased with the results and would definitely hire this company again.
Description of Work: Jim arrived on time. He replaced the outside light and checked the ceiling fan in the kitchen. He gave me the option to replace fan or simply try a different light bulb without a filament and see if the bulb wouldn't blow. I went to the option of not replacing the fan. It was nice that he explained everything to me and gave me options rather than simply replacing the fan which would have cost me more money. He was very polite and kind. I enjoyed working with him.I purchased a deal for this company $99 for $200 worth of service. I redeem the deal at time of payment and everything went as expected. So I'm I total cost was $295 since I had already purchased the deal I only ended up paying $95.

I had the Angie's list coupon so they charged me 409 minus 200 so that I payed an extra $109 plus another $100 for them to check the lamp post. They were very friendly. The guy did not take that long. He found the problem so he obviously knew what he was doing. I think he was almost going to have a heart attack. He was really out of shape and he was sweating profusely and I thought he was going to have a heart attack. He was very competent. The thing that stood out is how friendly they were and it was the lady when I contacted Walls she is the one who pointed out the coupon to me. She said oh go on Angie's list and look for the coupon we have lots of them. You know I said I see one for $25 off she said oh no we have got even better ones on there so go look for them. They helped out with the coupon. They sent somebody who is competent. The guy arrives on time. I had forgotten about the lamp post and it was after I had payed the previous bill that I said and he was in his truck and you know I guess it is going out for additional paperwork my husband reminded me that we want him to check that lamp post at the end of the driveway and he did. He gave me a good price on that because it took him a while and he did not charge me for a separate job. He just added onto this one. I think price is pretty fair.

See my extensive comments in the "what did the provider do" section.
Description of Work: Originally, I was hoping to have Walls Electrical install a recessed AC outlet over my fireplace, as part of a TV installation project. However, the technician showed me that my house (which is brick construction) did not have the requisite wall construction to install the outlet and to be able to run the necessary wiring). With that unexpected development, I was forced to scramble for an electrical project to have the technician do (in order to avoid a charge for merely responding to the service call), and I elected to have him run to de-couple a bathroom light switch that was wired to both a light fixture and an exhaust fan. The technician performed the work adequately. However, the next time that I went up into my attic, I discovered that the technician exposed the wiring that he needed to expose, and ran the new dedicated wire, by merely ripping up two floor boards, breaking them in the process, and not even replacing them (though the extent of the damage would have made doing so quite a challenge). When all was said and done, I was somewhat pleased with the work that was done (cf., I was incensed at the damage in my attic, but I didn't learn of that until well after the fact), but the cost, which was still several hundred dollars (even with the Angie's List deal). Taking all of that into consideration, I don't think I will be calling on Walls Electrical any time in the future.

Unfortunately, the electrician wasn't able to install the fan in the area that I had intended. He did, however, offer to install it in another part of the attic for additional moneys, but I declined. He was very understanding of this, too, which I appreciated. Ultimately, I received a refund for this deal and had no work completed.

They arrived on time.....but explained there would be a lot of repair expense if they did the job. It would request a lot of dry wall repair due to all the holes they would have to make based on their opinion of the way the joints boards where running ( not true). They stated that they would not repair any holes made, I would have to hire someone else to do it. But they did offer to do something different for the same price, that did not seem comparable. I basely though it to be a ripe off because they though I didn't know any better.

Just to clarify key facts that the member neglected to point out; she was using a coupon for 4 recessed lights in a room with no attic access. The coupon is clear in stating it does not include any drywall repair in the deal, which by the way our electricians do not repair drywall but we have a construction and handyman division that she was informed of. We gave her options that she elected not to take and we did not charge her for our time. The coupon was a 295.00 coupon for 4 recessed lights and a dimmer switch with ,which is very clear with regards to the drywall exclusion. If had she read it, before calling us and scheduling an appointment she would have known she would need drywall repairs since she is so knowledgeable in framing, electrical and drywall.

Walls Electric was punctual and professional during the installation. They were efficient and effective in the replacement of our bathroom fan. They also had an available appointment right before we had to close, which was a plus for us. During the walk-through - things seemed to be in order for the buyer without questions. I would use them again for electrical service needs... thanks!

Contractor arrived on time and did a good job. He was on the job for approximately two hours. The electrician was professional and we were pleased with the results; however, I thought the $450 charge was too high since I provided all materials, and this was only for labor. I had purchased the big deal of $99 for $200 worth of electrical work, and it seemed that overall $450 charge did not truly reflect the approximately $100 savings I had expected from the big deal.

I purchased a Big Deal ($99 for $200 worth of service). I had used Walls for other electrical projects and had been pleased. I requested a specific electrician, who had apparently left the company. The electrician who responded, Dean, was knowledgeable and professional. He installed the light fixture without difficulty, even though online reviews of the fixture indicated it was difficult to install. I asked him to replace outlets in my 35 year old condo to take up the rest of the Big Deal. The first one actually gave off a huge spark, I was glad he was here to put a safer new outlet in place. The work was done promptly and completely.

Jim arrived right on time. He immediately commented on the difficulty of doing the project. He told me that he would have to make a lot of holes in the dry wall (on the ceiling). We went to the basement to see if the work could be done there easier. He took one of the current recessed lighting fixtures out and determined that he would have to make not just four holes for the lights but extra holes as our home's structure did not make the addition of new lighting easy. We went back upstairs to reconsider the room that currently has no overhead lighting. He said he'd have cut some holes before he would know exactly how difficult it would be but that was not the problem....I just needed to understand that the ceiling (and one hole in the wall) would then need to be fixed. The company does have a handyman division but Jim didn't know anymore about it other than they provided free estimates. I phoned Walls Electrical Services and got Brian. He politely told me that generally the cost is about $250 a hole. I couldn't believe it! Brian then said that it might not that much in total but whatever it was, the cost would begin at $250. Jim told me that he was going to have to make a number of cuts and it would be "messy" - which I took to mean he didn't know how many cuts it would be and that he would have to cut a hole thru each tressel (I think that is it - they are the studs in the ceiling) to wire one light to the other. With that on my mind, I asked Brian if I could cancel the job. He said I could but it would cost me a fee for Jim coming out. I asked how much. He quoted a price he said was his commercial price, then asked when Jim had arrived (he had been in my home for less than an hour
Description of Work: He checked to see where the work could be done in two different places. It was determined that it would be quite costly to repair the dry wall after he had done the installation. The electrician did not appear optimistic about the chances of things being easily installed. I paid him $65 for coming out.

The installation was flawless. The workers arrived on time and promptly got started. The lighting installation was in a second floor bedroom, so much of the work had to be done from the attic. Because of the location of the light switch relative to the new lights and the restricted attic access, the workers encountered an obstacle or two during the installation. They worked around the issues like pros and delivered an end product that was perfect. I would most certainly use this company for future electrical work.

Great experience with Walls Electric Service! They contacted me promptly upon purchasing the Big Deal for recessed lights installation and were very easy to schedule with. The rep was very nice in answering my multiple questions. The person who arrived at our house was very knowledgeable and asked us what we intended to do with the room we wanted lighting installed in which I thought was great! Really showed his goal was to install the lights in a manner which would meet our goal. He explained what he was going to do and even showed us his plans before physically cutting into the ceiling and starting any permanent steps. He was quick and the work was completed clean and beautifully! He even gave us a great suggestion for future plans we discussed for the rest of the room! We're extremely pleased with the service and work completed!

I purchased a big deal coupon for this company. It was not a good experience. We ended up having to call a different electrician. We paid for that service and they didn't come prepared. I felt like Angie's list will give you a discount but then they won't do the work. I'm finding that other people have said they have had similar instances when you use a coupon with Angie's List. This particular contractor showed up at the end of the window and didn't come prepared even though an e-mail stated what the expectations was. We had two projects that needed to be taken care of and the electrician that showed up seemed to be surprised at the larger project which is what we initially asked them to come in and set up. Our smoke detector electrical wires in the forth bedroom so it would be connected to the whole system and to do an arc fault breaker. That's what we requested from Wall and when the guy showed up he wasn't prepared to do the work. He said it was a bigger job than he knew about and he needed a second person to run the wires, he obviously was not interested in doing the work. So in the meantime, and I needed to find out what the actual requirements were from the County for the arc fault breaker which I had some information from the inspector who had come in prior to this gentleman coming, I couldn't expect the electrician to know what the code was, he didn't. So I had another project that he could work on while i researched on line and they call for the county trying to find out the actual code which as a lay person not knowing electrical in those details, I can certainly figure out a circuit but this was more detailed. He went onto this other project which was to set a bank of lights that was on that we couldn't get to come on and he found it was the dimmer switch. But when he replaced the dimmer switch the lights flickered but didn't actually come on and it took my going down there and saying did you check all those are dimmer lights, when the set didn't work before I decided to try with just regular lights. He said I didn't think to do that. This is when he was already taking level one and level two and he already called his office. This was going to be a level two because I have to check the wiring and blah, blah, blah. So it was going to cost me more than what the estimate was. But all it was was a light bulb. Then he did write an estimate for the arc break faults, or arc fault breaker information but at that point I knew I was not going to be using them. They took the $99 off, they did trouble shooting for the lights not working, and then replaced the dimmer with the three way dimmer and that cost affiliated so I wound up paying then $99. I guess the Angie's coupon was $200 and it came out to exactly $299 so I ended up paying them $99. Then he wrote up another whole estimate for this other labor and materials that would install the wiring which is what we initially thought we were getting, what he was coming out to do. He said the e-mail was vague, that's what he said. I felt he didn't have the knowledge and he didn't know the code. He didn't have a trouble shooting system.

They are the ones who came out and fixed and then I had to pay them extra actually. The $99 deal got them through the door. I owed them $300 or $400 for the fix. But they were very good. I called them the next day and they came right out. It was expensive. It was a mess, my ceiling. I didn't even know if they could fix it. Well, they got the light in, which the other guy said wouldn't work. These guys came out, and besides the plumbing they do other things, like ceilings and plaster and they fixed it up.

Was not informed that the light was 16 feet in the air. Did not have the right ladder, did not fix the issue. Did not have the parts to replace the switch. Did not attempt trouble shoot the light. He disconnected the "bad" Switch and left is for me to replace the switch.. I am full capable of doing this, but when I investigated further it was not the switch but an inline fuse that was bad. I now have to purchase the fuse and rewire the fan. Than goodness I had the $99 offer or I would have spent $175. I am disappointed that such a highly rated company provided such poor service. They were responsive, punctual and professional, however the electrician had no idea that the light was 16" in the air and was ill equipped to fix the issue.
