In February of 2012 Unique Floor LLC had an Angie's List coupon for hardwood flooring. Before signing up for the Big Deal I telephoned Unique Floor LLC to obtain more details on the hardwood flooring and the installation. I was put in touch with Sam who upon hearing that I wanted flooring in the kitchen recommended laminate flooring. We set up an appointment for the following Saturday and Sam was at my residence ten minutes early and he had traveled all the way from Burke, VA to my residence in Laurel. He looked over the kitchen and within five minutes had a proposal worked up. There were no gimmicks, games, or pressure. We then looked at laminate samples and I found a light cherry with a grain that looked just like hardwood. The officer administrator contacted me later in the week to schedule an installation date and on St. Patrick's Day the installation crew was at my door at 7:30AM. The crew worked diligently with total focus and by 1PM they were on their way out. They left the kitchen spotless. This a well-run company and they made this experience stress-free.

They were there on time and did the work quick and without any drama.

Their service turned out just fine.

Sam showed up on time, gave a fair estimate, and his workers finished the job in one day.

Their service was great. It was exactly what I had asked for and expected.

When he was taking out the old tile he didn’t do anything to protect our home from the concrete dust. We would not recommend them.

Over all it was a very frustrating service. Sam was very unprofessional and rude during most all interactions with him. He would yell at me over the phone when I was trying to talk with him about the sub par job that was being done. His crew was very sloppy and messy with the stain. If you are just getting carpet done, he had two guys that came in install the carpet. They were very good and very careful. I would use the carpet crew again if I didn't have to deal with Sam.

Sam and Jason initally came to our home in August to give us an estimate on hardwood flooring. They showed us samples, took measurements and emailed us an estimate the same day. This estimate was about $1000 less than another reputable flooring company who had come the week before. We waited until October to have the floors installed since we were also having our kitchen remodeled. This lag time did not affect the pricing at all and they were always available to answer any of our questions and gave us good advice. The actual installation was fast! I thought it would take 3-4 days, but it only took a little over a day. The installers worked quickly and efficiently. They have this process down to a science. The moved all of our furniture and with in about 5 minutes of arriving we already at work. The worked almost 12 hours the first day and then finished the following morning. My only complaint would be that the installers did not really "clean-up" after the floors were finished. Everything was very dusty and luckily we noticed that they had left one of our rugs and several other items outside or else they would have been soaked by the rain, but nothing was damaged and this is a minor complaint. Our floors look gorgeous.

Excellent experience from start to finish, lowest price of three quotes and exceptional work, value for the money. Plan to use them again for additional work. They were timely, professional and very responsive to all questions and concerns. Overall, great company.

Unique Flooring wanted to charge me for 50% more carpet and labor than the actual job required! I wanted to re-carpet a perfectly rectangular 16.5" X 8.5" room in my basement (slightly less than 16 sq. yds), and called Unique Flooring to measure and do an estimate. I expected Unique Flooring's estimate to include some overage but was very surprised when the estimate was for 24 sq. yds., an additional 50% more carpet!!! When I called to ask Unique Flooring about the discrepancy, the manager/owner (?) told me that because of the room's dimensions (17'X9', they rounded up) he would have to use two pieces of 12' X 9' carpet and I would have to pay for the left over 7'X9' of carpet. I understand that it is standard practice for many companies to charge for left-over, unusable scraps of carpet, and I expected some overage to be included in the estimate (even though I received estimates from other companies that only charged for actual square footage). However, an in-tact, perfectly rectangular 7' X 9' piece of carpet doesn't seem to meet the definition of unusable. That is a big chunk of carpet, and there are a lot of 9' or smaller rooms out there for which that piece of carpet would be quite usable (my job being a perfect example, in fact). In addition to charging me for the extra carpet, I also noticed that the estimate included charges for 24 sq. yds. of installation labor and the removal of 24 sq. yds. of old carpet. When I asked the manager why the estimate also included an additional 50% installation and removal charge he became extremely defensive and told me that was also standard practice. He said it did not matter that they would only be removing and installing only 16 sq yds of carpet, I would still have to pay for an additional 7' X 9' feet of removal and installation work that they would not actually be doing simply because they had to cut two 12' X 9' pieces to do the job. I obviously did not go with Unique Flooring in the end to do the job. They have a lot of excellent reviews, so maybe they do very good work, but the whole estimate process seemed very sketchy and did not appear to be standard practice based on my limited interaction with other companies to get estimates on the same job.

I called Unique Floors to schedule for the install. I knew the hardwood stain color I wanted so the selection was done when I called in to schedule. We scheduled for the following week. Luis arrived on time and promptly went to work. He did an excellent job. He was detailed and precise. He cleaned up after the job was completed and it looked as though no one had been at the house installing flooring. I would definitely recommend Unique Floors and would use them again

We picked Unique Floor due to the large number of positive reviews on Angie's List. We had a very narrow time window when our house was empty between our tenant's departure, painting of the inside of the house, and our furniture's arrival. I called Unique Floor to find out if they would be able to estimate and install carpeting on one of only two or three days in that window, less than two weeks away. Maria said she could. The sales rep came the next day to measure and show us samples, we received a price estimate the following day, negotiated for a day, and then agreed on a date and price. The installers arrived exactly on time on the scheduled day, did a great job installing the carpet and cleaning up after themselves, removed all the debris, and were extremely polite and helpful. I can't comment on the price much since I did not comparison shop. I was willing to pay more than average given the time constraints I was under, and we probably did. When we asked the company about the price, given that they advertise on Angie's List a special to carpet an entire house for about the same price as we paid for one bedroom, we were told that the entire house price used a much lower quality carpet than we had selected. That said, the salesman who came said the carpet we picked was in the lower price group among quality carpets.

All you need to know about unique floors is that they are 100% customer oriented. Unique floors removed an extremely old and damaged wood floor in my living room and Den and installed a new pre-finished wood floor as well as refinished my stairs. The crew was courteous and efficient removing and installing the floor and refinishing the stairs on the same day. When they finished the floors looked amazing and stairs also looked great. However, due to the age of my stairs approximately 90 year old pine, the finish sunk in unevenly causing a few patches of oddly looking wood. I called Sam, the owner and he had his crew came back not once but twice to add on another coat of finish to ensure that the old wood was sealed polished and perfect. What I can tell about unique floors is that they don?t consider the job done until the customer is SATISFIED. It is so refreshing to find a company like this. Unique floors will be my contractor of choice for any floor refinishing or installation work I do in the future.

Unique Floor did a great job of installing new hardwood floor in the upper floor of my house. They were prompt and courteous and even worked with me to set a new installation date due to a long power outage. It took two full days to install it. The floor looks great.

Sam showed up on time for the appointment. We discussed the project, he showed us a few laminate and tile samples that could work for our floor, he made measurements and was ready to give us an estimate but I asked him to e-mail it to me instead. The e-mail arrived shortly. I found the price reasonable and the communication prompt, professional and pleasant. After receiving and comparing a few other proposals, we decided to go with Unique Floor. The factors that led to this decision were 1) cost, 2) level of professionalism, and 3) scheduling flexibility. The crew showed up on time and completed the work in less than a day (for the laminate floor). The installation of porcelain tiles in the bathroom (floor and shower area) and the utility room took a loner time (about 4 days). Both installations were done to our satisfaction. I should also mention that a few days after the job was completed, we had a mishap with our washing machine in the basement. Unaware of the problem, we turned on the machine and left the house. When we got back, about 3 hour later, we found our newly laminate floor soaking in an inch of water. We had no choice but to replace the floor. I called Sam that Friday afternoon to arrange for a new set of laminates to be ordered and a damaged floor to be removed and a new floor to be installed. The job was completed promptly in one week.

The man came out to measure and the receptionist called me several times to ask me if I had gotten another price. I didn’t go with them; I’m sure they’re fine and they’re right here in Burke but I went with a gut feeling. I didn’t understand a lot of what the man said because he had an accent that I couldn’t understand. I don’t feel like I had as good an understanding of what was going on as I did with the company we went with. I went to their place and they emailed me the same day; they got right back to me with the quote.

The sales and estimate process was painless. Maria went out of her way to schedule exactly when I needed--not before, not after--but right on the target date. The process was quick and the service excellent.

The first time I made an appointment with Sam, the owner, he came out and did the estimate. He said they would remove the old wood floors and install entirely new flooring. He wrote me an estimate for 9400.00 and sent out his installers the following Monday. The three installers came in on the first day and I had taken the day off work to monitor the start of the project. They started cutting the floors and dust was all over the furniture, I told them that they needed to do something to cover up the furniture since I was told that my things would be kept clean. The next day, they did bring plastic to cover the furniture. I mentioned that it did not seem they were leveling the floor, they assured me not to worry it would be taken care of. The first thing after they finished I noticed gaps between the wood panels and all kinds of squeaking noises of the floor. I contacted Sam of Unique Floor LLC about these concerns and was told that I always call him and I just like to complain. He did agree to send someone out to take a look at the problems. A guy did come out and began to nail in the places where it was squeaking, the nails are very noticeable on the top of the wood floors and I told him that was not the right thing to do. At that time I told him that things would need to be ripped up and reinstalled or I wanted my money back. I asked for a receipt for the work and was refused unless I signed saying that the work was completed and I was satisfied. I refused to sign that statement and was not given a receipt. Sam is no longer returning my calls and we have not come to a resolution. After reading Unique floors response I can tell you the this guy (Sam) is a complete Liar he should be ashamed of himself by saying that he asked me to change the sub floors, and I refused because I do not want to spend any more money. This never happened. Sam Also mentioned that the squeaking was coming from the sub floors. Actually I had asked them to nail the sub floors which removed the noise but they created a lot more loud squeaking all over the house by not leveling the floors, and leaving wide cracks which he claims they are industry standards by hiring a wood floor inspector that he paid. The man came and spent no more than 15 minutes exploring about 5 square feet from the 800 sq. feet of new wood floor installation. At the same time I had hired a certified wood floor inspector that spent at least 1 hour and half examining all the floors that was badly installed by Unique Floors and made a report that lists a lot of mistakes and problems that resulted from the installation. I have a report.

The gentleman who came initially were wonderful. The installers were nice and accomodating, too. However, a couple pieces of furniture experienced some minor damage. Since the pieces weren't new and the damage was difficult to see, it wasn't too much of a concern. Ultimately, the floor was completed in a timely manner, and it looks great.

Unique Floor was courteous, neat, and had superior craftsmanship. I was very pleased and would highly recommend them.

The gentleman did a good job with the installation, and the carpet looked great afterwards.

Excellent from start to finish. I picked out the carpet in my home. Estimate was provide the same day. They were punctual and the job was well done.

It went excellent. They came out before the installation. The representative was very helpful and polite. The big deal was for a certain dimension, but my living room was larger but they gave me the same cost. The scheduling was easy. They came out and installed it within a day. The workman were extremely polite and overall was an excellent experience. I would definitely use them again.

The service went great and everything went well. They did a lovely job and were very efficicent. The only criticism I had was that they did not leave any literature on the care of the floor.

Their service was excellent. We got several other bids, but ended up going with this company. They were great in offering many different sample pieces. Throughout the service they were very courteous, prompt, and did a great job!
